Rylan Ho guardato Casey crescere. Casey tormenta i miei pensieri e i miei sogni.
All’inizio sembrava una buona idea.

I thought the transition from manwhore to fully committed boyfriend, promising everlasting love after they’d had sex one time, was a bit too unrealistic.
We’ve been told from the first page how Rylan can’t keep it in his pants, and while I love a good converted manwhore story, I never quite bought it, because all I saw was a guy who wanted to be the one and only of Casey, without any commitment issues at all.
This was a super sweet story that does bring a bit of heat!
Brother's best-friend stories are always fun for me and this one adds in close proximity for bonus points as 19-year-old Casey spends the summer crashing at his older brother Trask's apartment in California until he has to go back to Missouri for the fall semester. Rooming with Trask is lifelong friend Rylan, who Casey has been crushing on for years. When Rylan gets his first look at a grown-up Casey, he realizes Trask's "stay away from my brother" edict won't be as easy to go along with as he thought.
There is plenty of pining and flirting as Casey and Rylan spend time together. They have a lot in common aside from their attraction and grow closer as the days pass. When they finally get together things are hot, but also tense as they try to keep it hidden from Trask in a small apartment.
Casey and Rylan are a great team. They are together and support each other 100 percent, even when it comes to Trask. I have to say for a best-friend, Trask is a jerk to Rylan for most of the book. He has such a judgmental attitude that I really didn't care for him and was happy when he was eventually told off.
K.C. Wells has delivered another fun, low-angst read, with a wonderful HEA.
It’s been a while since I’ve read more than one new book within a short period of time. So reading more than one by the same author and enjoy them both?!? It’s a miracle. I enjoyed this quite a bit. It would have been a five star read, but Trask had too much page time and really pissed me off entirely too much. 😒
This book was just pure sweetness. There is no drama, no conflict, no jealousy or insecurities: this book is basically as low-angst as can be. Of course, I prefer my books to be a little bit more angsty than that, but if that is not your cup of tea, then this story is absolutely perfect. Thus, whereas I was missing some more big moments, others might like the easy-breazy nature this novella's got going on.
However, aside from the angst part, there was also some development missing for me: although I could see the connection between these two guys very clearly, I would have preferred for them to have a little bit less of an insta-love going on. As it was now, Casey was already in love with Rylan years before the book even started, and Rylan practically fell in love with Casey the very first time he saw him again in this particular book. So yea, that was definitely a bit fast for me. It does need to be said, though, that although their feelings were already present way too fast for my liking, their relationship did go at quite a slow pace. They did not rush into anything and they actually didn't get together until rather late in the book.
I also really love that they truly seemed to get to know each other (even if a lot of that happens off page as well). Their bond and connection is definitely there, I just wish it would have been shown a bit more explicitly. And, of course, I would have personally also loved a bit more drama in the relationship rather than the incredible sweetness that could make your teeth ache if you get too much of it.
I also just want to get off my chest how much I disliked the 'brother' in this. He was the world's worst best friend ever and completely overbearing when it came to his younger brother. I do not quite understand why Rylan was even besties with someone who thought so little of him and spoke in such a degrading way towards him, but hey, whatever. I guess the guy sort of redeemed himself in the end. So happily ever after, right?
I really loved this book. It’s one of those perfectly sweet wonderful stories that make me so happy when I read them. I’ve been looking forward to reading it ever since K. C. announced it was coming out on Facebook. I was so looking forward to it I was afraid I would be disappointed, but I wasn’t. If you’re looking for a sweet book with little angst this is a book for you.
This book was not perfect, it had flaws for sure. It started a little slow, and the “over protective older brother” thing dragged on way too long! I mean the “little brother” was 19 and the best friend was only 27. In my opinion, 8 years doesn’t even qualify as an age gap romance. Anyway, I absolutely loved Casey. Rylan’s character definitely improved as the story went on. Trask was a jerk through 90% of the book, but finally came around. All in all, I give this a 3.75 rounded up to 4 stars!
I appreciate that the MCs' model-worthy bodies are somewhat realistically explained with their profession and their concessions in lifestyle. The flipside is, it's not particularly interesting to read about their diet and workout habits. It doesn't help that the dialogue feels kind of awkward and both main characters seem extremely shallow (and the lot of them very unlikeable also).
I really enjoyed Rylan and Casey's story, especially the notebook. So so sweet. Yes, it was a best friend's brother trope, which is always obvious, but this was different somehow. There was more depth to the story, more feelings between the two than just the manufactured lust of a pre-teen.
This is definitely one to pick up and give a try. A great story.
I loved this really sweet couple. Rylan has been Casey's brother's best friend since they were kids but Casey has been in love with Rylan since he was 14. Having not seen him in a few years, when a 19 year old, fully grown, Casey comes to stay for the summer, Rylan is not expecting the attraction he feels towards the younger man but his best friend has warned him off in no uncertain terms. I really enjoyed this book.
What a sweet sweet story. Unrequited love over the years that finally becomes reality. And through all they had to go through. They proved they could outlast distance and time and stay together. They proved that with hard work and dedication they could make it through. And they did. I loved this story so much.
Okay, this book was so freaking cute. I absolutely devoured it within a few hours. I’m such a sucker for best friend’s brother trope so it’s no wonder...
Casey is planning to stay with his brother for a few months during the summer while he’s on break from college. His older brother by 8 years, Trask, also lives with his best friend since childhood, Rylan. And Casey’s been in love with Rylan since he was 14 years old.
I didn’t like how Rylan started out as such a manwhore, sleeping with random guys and only being a one-night-stand kinda dude. It’s part of the reason why Trask kept warning Casey away from Rylan over and over. But as I got more into the story I was able to overlook that part. I mean... Rylan just up and quit his slutty ways the same day Casey showed up. I’m super glad I didn’t have to read about other men involved with him or even Casey for that matter. Definitely happy about that.
I kinda got mad about Trask’s attitude. I can see how he’d want to protect his younger brother from being heartbroken but at the same time Rylan is his best friend so it definitely hurt a little bit reading the way he’d talk about Rylan, like he wasn’t worth it. I’m glad they talked about it between each other and worked out their differences quickly.
Also, I’m from Southern California so I was suuuuuper excited (probably overly so) to read about a bunch of places I recognized. Plus the mention of Disneyland and the other popular places too. And I had to laugh so hard at the fact that the house they bought was in Compton. I mean, if you live in SoCal you just know... lol 😝
But anyway, I definitely enjoyed this book. There was very little drama and what came from telling Casey’s brother was resolved fairly quickly. It made me happy to read.
This was a super cute book. I loved Casey and Rylan. Really good writing, not too much drama between the two of them. I love a “childhood crush that turns into more as they get older” kinda story and this was perfect!
Aww 😍 So, after many dark/mafia romance, i really needed something different, without angst. And K.C Wells new book fitted perfectly the role.
It's a sweet story about Rylan, who finally fell for the only guy he should stay away, Casey, his best friend's brother.
It's a slow burns with so much love and tenderness 😍😍😍 The pace is fast and runs smoothly. The dual pov make the story more complete because you can see what happenes in both characters minds during the whole time....
I loved Casey and his determination to defend Rylan and their love... And the notebook 😍😍😍 *swoony swoony* And i loved even more Rylan and his "transformation", because love inevitably changes you but in the best way possible.
PS. I loved so much Casey's parents 🤣🤣🤣 I'd love to have a novella about family dinner time 😂😂
Delightful. I absolutely adored this story and these characters.
The set-up is of course glorious in its own right. What’s not to love about a blurb that indicates the main characters will have to suffer their way through a fair amount of pining before getting what they ache for—each other.
Casey has had a thing for Rylan, his brother’s best friend, ever since he first figured out he was gay. Which means that inviting himself to spend the summer with his brother Trask and Rylan is not as straightforward as it might appear. Poor Casey. He thought he had a handle on his crush only to discover that the attraction he feels is as strong (if not stronger) as ever. It seems that he’s in for a long and frustrating summer.
On the upside, Casey was sorta prepared for his reaction to being in Rylan’s proximity. Rylan on the other hand is completely blind-sided by his own reaction to seeing Casey again. The boy he remembered has been replaced a handsome, well-built, fully grown, and irresistible young man. Which wouldn’t be an issue were it not for Trask, Rylan’s best friend and Casey’s older brother, who has warned Rylan to stay away from Casey in the strongest of terms.
And thus, begin weeks of two men circling each other. They flirt when it’s just the two of them, although neither is sure if they’re interpreting the other correctly. It takes them some time and a bit of soul-searching to get together. But when they do…
Yes, Rylan and Casey are hot together. But it’s much more than that. They are so adorable. With these two caring for each other came before lusting after and enjoying each other, and it shows in how interact.
I smiled a lot while reading this book and laughed out loud a few times. The dialogue and banter between Casey, Rylan, and Trask is sharp and sparkles. Casey’s heart-to-heart with his supervisor warmed my heart and when Rylan and Casey at last opened up to each other my heart sang.
I always find it ridiculously easy to lose myself in a K.C. Wells story and My Best Friend’s Brother was no exception. For a few hours I lost myself in the company of two intriguing men and when I left them again, I was happy and thoroughly satisfied. You can’t ask for more from a romance.
As a fan of this particular trope, I pretty much knew what to expect going into this book. This type of story was exactly what I was looking for and the author completely delivered what I wanted. It was sweet without being overly so, and while there is a touch of angst it wasn’t too much at all.
The setup ensures the slow burn, and once things finally move to the yes-we’re-doing-this stage, hiding things from Casey’s brother is where that bit of worry comes into play. While I don’t personally agree with anyone’s stance that someone should stay away from their brother (or sister, cousin, friend, anyone) out of some protective stance—unless it’s due to a REAL safety concern—it does work as a plot device, and the sneaking around “can’t get caught” part is what draws me in.
Casey and Rylan are sweet together, with plenty of chemistry to be found. Though Casey has wanted Rylan for a long time (oh, that notebook! *swoon*), Rylan’s attraction develops during the story at a natural pace so you won’t find any insta-love here.
As to Trask’s attitude…I thought he was a bit much in how he made out Rylan to be such a manwhore. While yes, Rylan might not have been the settle-down type at the start of the story, Trask doesn’t have room to talk either. Some of the things he says almost border on being mean, though I think he doesn’t realize it.
Overall, this was a 4.5-star read for me and I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you are a fan of this trope. This story is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content
This was a really cute book! Casey and Rylan were very sweet together. After years of Casey pining away for his brothers best friend, their paths cross again now that Casey is an adult. When Casey moves into Rylan and Trask's house for the summer while on break from college, things start to heat up. This was very nice, slow burn with a lot of UST and a first kiss that gives all the butterflies. I really liked both MCs a lot. This was a shorter, low-angst, feel good read that I enjoyed!
I really enjoyed this fast reading well written friends to lovers romance by K.C. Wells, it seemed like I had just opened the book and next thing you know I was closing it with a satisfied sigh, so good. My best friend Trask had warned me off from his younger brother Casey but when he came to stay for the summer I was having a very hard time following his advice. Trask my older brother had told me not to get interested Rylan when I came out last summer but it was to late I have had a crush on him for years, so us not being together if I got the chance was bound to happen, now if I can just get Rylan to give us a chance too.
Super talented author K.C. Wells has written a fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, beautiful, tug-at-your-heartstrings, slow burning, lovely, delightful, amazing, adorable, and totally awesome story. Rylan and Casey were so perfect for each other, and I really enjoyed watching their relationship slowly grow into something so much more. I will admit that I wanted to rattle the teeth of a certain character. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this marvelous gem for yourself ASAP!
This was an okay read for me. I had a hard time getting into it at first, and the characters didn’t really click with me, but around the halfway point, I started enjoying it more.
The story follows Casey, who’s always had a crush on his best friend’s older brother, Rylan. Now, years later, they end up living together, and that long-time crush starts feeling very real. Rylan, on the other hand, has never really thought about Casey that way, until suddenly, he does.
Casey is sweet, a little awkward, and still figuring himself out, while Rylan is confident, charming, and not expecting to fall for his little brother’s best friend. Their dynamic had potential, but I struggled to really feel their connection in the first half of the book. That said, once things picked up, I did enjoy their growing relationship. But I probably wouldn’t have finished that book if it had been longer.
