America Betrayed: How a Christian Monk Created America & Why the Left Is Determined to Destroy Her

Rate this book
America is now engulfed in a crisis that goes to the very foundations of its democracy. To destroy Americans’ pride in their heritage and undermine their will to defend it, the attacks on America’s heritage begin with malicious slanders intended to turn the American dream of equality and freedom into a “white supremacist” nightmare. We are told America, from its inception, has been a “racist” nation that treats minorities as less than human. We are told America deserves to be destroyed. This destructive lie is now the official doctrine of the Biden White House, the “woke” Pentagon, the Democratic Senate, and the curricula of American schools.

America Betrayed restores the true history of America’s achievements and its role as a beacon of freedom. Framed by an account of Martin Luther’s history and ideas, David Horowitz demonstrates that racial progress in America originates not from Leftist policy but from its founding ideals. America Betrayed is a history and a manifesto focused on the current war to save our country and restore the dignity and freedom of the individual.

I cannot believe I can only give America Betrayed 3 stars instead of the 5 I thought it would be. David Horowitz has been a favorite of mine and I was looking forward to reading and learning more from him. I did learn more, no doubt, about the Democrat faction only, however.

This book is worth reading. Much of the history is excellent, he simply fails to challenge any of the myths and legends of the Greedy Old Politicians (GOP) that must be exposed and replaced with the truth if we are to learn important lessons to properly restore the Federalist Republic.

America Betrayed was filled with great history (no surprise) that will be important to read. It is also important to guard against the Republican myths and legends he cannot seem to denounce either due to inculcated convictions (took me over 3 decades of study to question many of mine and 2 decades, so far, of uncovering the truth about both factions).

The people we praise in mythology and legend, passed off as history by the two factions, have been a root cause of allowing factions to replace our self-governing experiment in liberty so we could be free to pursue our life.

Truth helps us learn, whether it is good or bad. Myths and legends help us be manipulated. We are inculcated to believe the mythology as a whole history of the person and to love or hate them as presented without truth but rather based on strings of truth and a lot of fiction.

The truth is out there but you really have to dig through centuries of documents, books, newspapers, and more. Factions are good at flooding the truth with their version of history, they are the winners in the experiment so far.

Lincoln mythology was the hardest for me, Roosevelt was second hardest, though many others, like Ike, were also difficult.. Lincoln seems to be the hardest to break through for others like Mark Levin, Mark Alexander, Larry Arn, the American Legion, and more.

It was my love of Lincoln and Roosevelt (there's a reason they're up on Mt. Rushmore with Washington and Jefferson...dig for the truth, it is still available) that took me so long but it made my search much more careful.

I believe, for us liberty minded folk, that indoctrination sticks too deep for many of us but it must be shattered if we are to win by restoring our experiment in a Federalist Republic, in a much more perfect way. The myths and legends surrounding these tyrants are far too easy for opposing people to counter with some actual truth. It is why we were polluted by the purely fictional hit piece, claiming our history was totally different. Had we been teaching truth over myth from the beginning there would be no fertile soil to spread such destructive lies.

Mr. Horowitz simply could not break through the wall of myths hiding the truth of the Republican Party while wanting to show the truth of the Democrat Party. It is easier for me to see with 20 years of truth digging behind me but for decades I never noticed this because of my passion for the wonderful guidance in the Declaration of Independence and our ORIGINAL Constitution and Bill of Rights. (Hint: unlock the six goals in our preamble that every piece of legislation and action by the federal government should be measured by....great tools lost like the enforcement of the Oath of Office. Look at the thousands of violators in far too powerful positions that violate even before having it administered without a care).

The best way for me to help share my reason for my review is to share the notes I made but there are too many, most too long. It is the same reason I was crestfallen with The 1776 Report, overseen by Larry Arn (written by experts far more educated than this old, disabled vet), and disappointed with Domestic Enemy by Daniel Greenfield.

Centuries of teaching our history through mostly fabricated myths and legends is a root cause for our current division over the figures that make up the legends. Truth helps us learn so we CAN achieve changes to the U.S. Constitution that will forward the idea that we the people can help advance toward a more perfect union, not mythology.

These people we are taught to praise were not saintly, they were and are human. We have an internal struggle between good and bad while tribalism is a very strong and destructive instinct as well.

The Founders knew factions were destructive and a pure democracy was very dangerous. There were checks and balances designed to protect the Federalist Republic's self-governing, liberty focused experiment. It didn't take long for factional intrigue to begin to move us in the wrong direction, back toward the destructive nature of pure democracy.

The 12th Amendment, in June of 1804, separated the president and vice president, losing the opportunity of competing factional beliefs to actually serve together and totally damaging the intent of the original Electoral College. It was a nominating process for president and vice president, not tied to any popular feelings or emotions stirred by factional cabal. Of the two names each elector wrote down only one could be from the state itself. It was deemed to be an excellent system and was discussed and debated globally, as was the next key destroyed, the bicameral structure of our congress.

Bicameralism was turned into a façade by the two factions still controlling us today (now 170+ years) with the 17th Amendment. Originally senators were indirectly responsible to the people (today millions in most states), and directly responsible to state legislatures (today still just a handful compared to the masses), who were accountable to the people of the state directly. They had incentive to select the best statesmen they could find to serve or control and manage any that turned out to be not very good. You cannot be responsible to the masses, they do not even know you.

The People's House of Representatives was the only federal office elected by local, popular vote. Representatives were responsible to the people of the communities they lived in. This was a sound elective structure to begin the experiment but we quickly failed in forming a more perfect union due to factional cabal and nasty campaigning. Corruption would thrive under democracy and freedom at the expense of federalism and liberty.

I am forever praying that many of my favorite authors and those I trust will recognize one of the root causes that has taken us from the promises of 1791 to the brink of a REAL civil war fought between citizens and millions of illegal aliens who already hate our country but have been let in through the vice of faction. Global war is also very near, truth and communication are all that will stop it.

It is so bad we have a president that sold us out and is paying his debt but not tossed for his betrayal of American citizens but allowed to mentally melt while still serving.

So bad we have thousands in our bureaucracy and hundreds across our three branches of federal government who openly demand transformation to global despotism while swearing an Oath of Office they hate.

We never have enforced the Oath, another major root cause. It was a tool to use to root out the snakes that could slither in but we never set the precedent and today we pay an awful price.

The Greedy Old Politicians (GOP}, the great party of Lincoln, are not saying a word about it because too many of them are also violating their Oath knowingly. Who is currently upholding their Oath of Office anywhere in the political or bureaucratic government, state or local?

Why have we allowed the Vice President to be used in all manner of ways EXCEPT their constitutionally set jobs; President of the Senate and step in when we lose the president?

Why did we allow, and continue to allow, the terrible tradition of Majority/Minority Leaders with their whips (named after the whipper position in fox hunting, see the Senate website)? This scheme was grafted into the House in 1899 and the Senate in 1910.

They are not constitutional. Nor are all the permanent committees, sub-committees, caucuses, etc. ad nauseum or bureaucrats making rules that can lock us up.

Why does the Republican Party not end this if they are more pure like their favorite son Abraham?

This is all a terrible tradition and can be shut down. Three bills introduced far too many times to far too little support would turn it back toward the simplicity of the intent of the Supreme Law.

One Subject at a Time Act
Write the Bills Act
Read the Bills Act

We will never get support for restoring our experiment in self-governing liberty until we get far away from myths and legends for all our past and present people.

I know, long review but the notes would have been a good sized pamphlet. If you made it this far, thank you.

Liberty is our Right, Freedom our Responsibility - There is a difference!!

David Horowitz was born in 1939 and grew up as a “red diaper baby,” as his parents were committed communists. He grew up a man of the left and then began to have “second thoughts.” This book is a look at the accusation that America is still a racist country, ruled by white supremacists. He cites Aleksander Solzhenitsyn, “One man who stopped lying, could bring down a tyranny.” There’s an excellent history told about Martin Luther, who helped transfer spiritual power to the people themselves, and whose ideas led (directly, according to Horowitz) to America’s Declaration of Independence. Luther’s ideas impressed James Madison, who wrote:

“The experience of the United States is a happy disproof of the error so long rooted in the unenlightened mind of well-meaning Christians as well as in the corrupt hearts of persecuting usurpers, that without a legal incorporation of religious and civil polity, neither could be supported.”

The American founders secularized Luther’s principles, according to Horowitz. He discusses the history of Saul Alinsky’s ideas, including his book, Rules for Radicals. Of course, Horowitz knows intimately of what he writes, since he was a major player on the left for so long.

This was a very insightful book. Written by a man who lived through some tough times and reversed his thinking based on personal experiences.
It was well researched and written. I enjoyed the history and the insights.

Horowitz Does it Again.

This book is a must read. Many questions I had have been answered. I finally get what the Left is and what they’ve been doing, and why.
Horowitz has such a unique perspective on what we are up against dealing with the Radical Left.
Thank you, thank you for writing one of the best books I have ever had the pleasure to read. You will not be disappointed. Just READ IT!

In honor of this terrible book at least having the upside of being short, I'll keep this short

TLDR; it's like someone typed "Christofascism but make it sound researched, like phrenology" into ChatGPT
