Ignatius Beauchamp, plantation heir. Dominique Chavelle, descendant of a powerful voodoo priestess.
SERIAL KILLER ON THE LOOSE
As Mardi Gras approaches, women are being slaughtered and burned sacrificial style, each murder another of the 7 Deadly Sins. Three murders, Three unidentified women, fourteen days until Mardi Gras. The race is on. Somehow Ignatius and Dominique are connected, the killer has them in their sights leaving horrible momentos at the plantation house for them. Lost in the dark passion that consumes them, can the detective figure out the clues the killer leaves? Can Ignatius keep Dominique safe? Or will he make one fatal mistake that will cost him everything?
This is an exciting book! The killer with an agenda; Dominique, the very special Investigator with long blood ties to the city; Ignasius, the Firefighter with his own blood deep in the land.
The crimes are horrendous. The scenes are of nightmares. And soon it becomes evident to our Hero and Heroine that there is a master plan in play.
But when there is a leak and Dominique becomes a target, Ignatius will do all he can to keep her safe.
When opposing religions are melded into a vile concoction by the madman no one is safe.
Many times through this book I was clenching my stomach. The scenes were at times vivid and shocking. Then there were the amazing love scenes and those were just as vivid.
I follow NM Catalano faithfully and would not have missed this for the world. The epilogues were priceless!
Voodoo Burning is my first NM Catalano novel and I enjoyed it. This story was well-written and detailed and the author paints a clear picture of what happening as she takes you on this twisted and diabolical journey. Dominque and Ignatius were amazing characters who had intense chemistry and scorching hott steamy scenes. With danger, suspense, violence, drama, twists and turns and so much more, this novel will keep you at the edge of your seat and will hold your interest from start to finish. It was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic suspense.
Voodoo Burning by Nadine Marie Catalano is the complete book for the novella with the same name featured in Men of Valor Anthology. This is the story of Ignatius Beauchamp, plantation heir, fireman with a cursed family name and Dominique Chavelle, criminal investigator, descendant of Marie Leveau known as the greatest Voodoo Queen New Orleans has ever seen. A killer is on the loose, his victims are maimed women, sacrifices which blood paints the messages, that are left to burn in the fire he sets after the ceremonies. Ignatius as a fireman is one of the first people to see the crime scene when it first happened and presents himself as a valuable partner to colaborate with Dominique and her expertise as the daughter of the land herself. I liked a lot of things in this book: first, the accuracy regarding traditions in the theme of Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and Lent in the Roman Catholic religion - the one I was raised in -, so this makes perfect sense to me; second, explaing how Roman Catholic, voodoo and cajun magic interwine themselves, the superstitions, the rituals and even, in a fundamentalist way, the offerings, the purification ceremonies with blood as perpertrated by the killer, set the plot to a mysterious and riveting story the reader wants to participate in. I found myself trying to guess who the killer was, analyzing clues and picturing the proof in my own head. This book is so enthralling, the mysticism, the mystery, the danger, the raw and gritty descriptions, it feels like we can see and smell everything, it deeply appeals to the reader's imaginery. And the relationship between Dominique and Ignatius was🔥🔥🔥. Ignatius was deliciously dirty, alpha, dominant and extremelly protective of Dominique. He thought he could spook her, but it only made her come near. She surrended herself to him, body and soul, because of the trust and protectiveness. They were more connected than they first realized -Ignatius with his blood deep in the land and Dominique with her ties deep in the city - and were meant to be, it all only made sense with them together. There is only one thing that was a bit awkward for me and it was their first sexual encounter: It made sense, if they were old acquaintances and I had to go back and read again to make sure that was the case, but it wasn't, they heard of each other but only met in person three days ago, even though they felt outright attracted. For me, it was a bit too fast and confusing. This was an extremelly well written book, it speaks to your imagination, to you senses, it feels like you're seeing the action developing in front of your eyes! For all that was said, I definitively recommend this book! It's a ride you don't want to miss!!! And yeah....I did check the address!!!

WOW! What can I say! VOODOO BURNING is more than just a mystery crime thriller; Nadine Catalano takes you into a world of dark psychological torture. I was totally enthralled with this twisted and diabolical story, despite the plethora of chilling and gruesome crimes mentioned. It captivated my attention from beginning to end. This is an awesome book, one you NEED to READ—you won’t regret it! Dominique Chavelle is a criminal investigator who was sent to New Orleans because a serial killer(s) was on the loose. Dominque is also a direct descendant of a powerful voodoo priestess, and she is thrown back into a world she thought she’d managed to struggle out of—crimes related to voodoo, magic, hoodoo, satanic ritual, or something else. Ignatius Beauchamp, is a firefighter and a plantation heir, but such a sexy and swoon-worthy alpha male. It started as a simple murder case to solve, then another one with the same symbols—it escalated and became a fight to survive. There are seven deadly sins, so they say—Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Envy, Pride, and Wrath. We are guilty of them all. But what happens when someone decides to become judge, jury, and executioner of those that commit these sins? This serial killer(s) did everything calculating, but regardless, Ignatius will do whatever it takes to protect Dominque. But will it be enough to save her? The chemistry between Dominque and Ignatius gets really sultry—the sex is off-the-chart hot!! Just when you think you have it all figured out, it takes a new turn making you realize just how wrong you were. I was flabbergasted with the unexpected revelations that happened, but it is jaw-dropping good! Not all of its surprises are pleasant ones, but there is a certain satisfaction in experiencing a thread that is so obstinately unexpected. The manipulation and games played is nothing short of masterful as Nadine Catalano feeds you a story filled with everything from murder to more than you can imagine.
I love all things, New Orleans. Add in voodoo and this book became one of my most anticipated books. The suspense of this book, the crime scenes, and one of the best dirty talking men and I was all in from the first pages. I loved the feel of this book and the history of NOLA being incorporated. The author did a phenomenal job of creating the feel of the city and building on the mystique and magic of it.
The crimes itself were brutal, and they need to be in order to give this book the edge that it needed to make it special. The entire premise and ritualistic killings and what they symbolized was a stroke of genius and how they tied to distinctly different religions together. I liked how both Dominique and Ignatius had a background that tied to the story more than just a fireman and an FBI specialist. The steamy times between these two were FIRE. I loved Hattie, although I feel like this was a little let down too considering I felt like it was a loose end since both Dominque and Ignatius had gone to her for help as they were looking for answers.
And then the pinnacle of the story felt anticlimactic. I was so enraptured with this story that I felt let down at who the killer turned out to be and how it was resolved. The mystery of the killer was surprising but after being so heavily invested in this story it just fizzled when everything happened. That is the reason this didn't get five stars. The epilogue was nice but I still felt a little bummed. Still a fantastic book and made this author go on my watch list.
Like a moth drawn to a flame, I was entranced from the very beginning. What a thrilling ride of suspense and horror. Voodoo Burning was such a powerful book, which edges into the realm of the occult. Black magic, trinkets and tokens, hexes, curses, spells and visits by the dead. Set in New Orleans leading up to Mardi Gras, a serial killer is sacrificing women in the most macabre ways.
Ignatius Beauchamp was the only living heir of the Beauchamp Plantation. History reveals a founding French family member Bertrand Beauchamp was the victim of a curse, which would effect his entire family and any descendants. With them all falling ill or dying except for him and his young son. Ignatius lives on his own at the plantation and works as a firefighter. Looking on with interest as the new criminal investigator went over the latest crime scene. She certainly has a particular part of his body standing to attention as she sets his blood on fire.
Dominique Chavelle had fled New Orleans, hoping to leave her heritage behind. However as a direct descendant of the Voodoo Priestess, she learnt it’s not something that you can leave behind. It’s magic lives and breathes in the earth she walks on, it’s embedded into her soul, not something that can be discarded. Then the serial killer leaves behind clues that Dominique will be one of his next victims. Ignatius steps up to assist her and ensure her safety, but he might just be a distraction.
A gripping tale of suspense and horror set in New Orleans, where Voodoo, black magic and religion are all alive and well. Nadine totally captivates with the deliciously dirty talking Ignatius, a firefighter and Dominique a feisty local who has returned home as a crime investigator to investigate horrific crimes of a serial killer taking place in the lead up to Mardi Gras. Vivid imagery and tales of the genesis of local culture really pull you in and keep you turning those pages. Chemistry between the pair is hot, hot, hot - coupled with a suspenseful, well told story you will not want to put this down. Highly recommended.

After reading the novella version in the Men of Valor anthology, I was so excited to get the full story! This is an amazing romantic suspense novel that takes place in the seedy dark streets of New Orleans, where women are being murdered in sacrificial rituals. Voodoo magic and mad minds collide in a riveting, fast-paced story that kept my heart pounding.
Ignatius and Dominique had that immediate chemistry that you know will combust sooner or later with their sexy connection. I could feel, on a visceral level, the mystical, magnetic ambiance of New Orleans in the descriptive settings, and the snappy, dialogue was so on point! The suspenseful plot grabbed my attention right away, and it held me spellbound right down to the final page! I loved, loved, loved this!
Fast paced and an excellent read. The characters are strong, Ignatius and Dominique, perfect for each other. The killer is obsessed and he's targeted Dominique. I loved the alpha in Ignatius as well, and Dominique did not seem to mind either. I loved the connection that Ms. Catalano created with these two lovers. It's a page turner for sure and the overall book was a relatively quick read. I loved the last chapter and Dominique's internal rant - holes, broken, and I'm really a man. Spectacular read all around. I recommend any of Ms. Catalano's books, they are well worth your time.
I received this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
New Orleans a place rich in magic, voodoo, secrets and mystery. It can also have crime and destruction when all of those come together.....
Ignatius is a fireman and one of original plantation families. Seeing all the destruction first hand is really working him over.
“ I don’t want to do this; I really don’t want to do this.”
Dominique is a criminal investigator, who was called home to handle this investigation.
“We need to look at every angle. You’re the most qualified for that evidence, Dominique.”
These two are in the thick of arson and brutal murder. Seeing all the gory details first hand. When they come together the sparks fly in all the best of ways!!
Voodoo Burning set me on fire! Set in steamy New Orleans, where you are defined by your ancestors, this is a story mixed with voodoo practices and horrific sacrifices. Dominique Chavelle has been brought home to use her special gifts to solve the crimes. Ignatius Beauchamp is a firefighter that claims Dominique’s soul and body. Ignatius’ dirty talk was devilishly delicious. Together they unravel the mystery and get their HEA.

What a whirlwind of events! I've been waiting for this book since Ms. Catalano released it's novella a few months ago. (Again, thank you for volunteering your work to help raise funds for Australia.) This book was worth the wait! I loved the POV's that were used in Voodoo Burning. It was unexpected, and made such an impact. Having never been to New Orleans myself, with all the details you provided, I feel like I've been a part of that community for years. Voodoo Burning - YOU take us there! Great job!!!
Ignatius and Dominique's story is intense, hot, compelling, intriguing, gritty and disturbing. This is a book that heats up the pages and keeps you right on the edge of your seat. Drama, suspense, danger, graphic violence, powerful emotions and sizzling heat combine into a read that packs an epic punch that will leave you breathless and stunned. If you like your romance as steamy as New Orleans in the summer and enjoy having your nerves pushed to their limit, you want to grab this very seductive read. Of my own accord I am posting a sincere, volitional review.
What an amazing read! I have always loved stories based in New Orleans with a voodoo storyline... and this was one of the best. This storyline had me from the beginning. Dominique and Ignatius are so hot together. And let me just say... talk about a killer with an agenda! Loved the graphic storyline... the twists and the suspense. More than your average read. How far would you go to ensure the one you loved stayed safe. Excellent... such a powerful read.

This was amazing and exciting and Ignatius and Dominique are super hot with a connection like no other that sets the pages on fire. Set in New Orleans with very detailed graphic scenes that will leave with OMG I can't believe this is happening as we follow this crazy serial killer to his agenda. Very powerful story with black magic, spells and very very consuming and the writing just sucks you in.
This book had it all: romance, hot sex scenes, mystery, magic, mysticism and depravity. I was glued to this book from beginning to the end. There was so much going on I didn't want to miss anything. This book read like an old fashioned murder mystery with voodoo magic and New Orleans curses. I highly recommend this book!
A serial killer is on the loose and Dominique is helping on the case. Ignatius is a sexy firefighter also on the cases. These two are smoking hot as a couple. Will they be able to catch a killer before he strikes again? A thrilling read that I recommend.

Voodoo Burning by Nadine Catalano is the story of Dominique Chavelle and Ignatius Beauchamp. Dominique and Ignatius come together when there is a killer in their town. This killer is threatening Dominique, Ignatius strong protective instincts kick in. This was quick hot page turning read.
Wow this is a great read of suspense and horror set in New Orleans this is amazing dark read that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout this story and is a fast pace read that will have you hanging on to the very edge of the words.
I absolutely loved this book! Voodoo Burning has it all. From the remarkable characters that just came to life, to the brilliant storyline full of action and suspense. If you're looking for your next five star read, look no farther. You don't want to miss this one.
I have often said the words of this author are magic and Voodoo Burning once again confirms this truth. This book started as part of an anthology and when I read it, I was consumed with wanting more. As the rest of the Beauchamp legacy was being written and I was impatiently waiting.... COVID19 happened. I have been despondent and lacking any desire to read. I finally decided to see if one of my one click writers could take me away into a land of word magic.
YES, Yes and yes she definitely managed this feat. The suspense of this story was riveting. The mystery, magic and ultimately redemption was just what my exhausted and stressed out mind needed. I found myself making weird comparisons to what was happening in the world with this book.
In Voodoo Burning we have a stealthy killer. In real life we have a virus that is also a stealthy killer. The people of New Orleans were scared as a crazy serial killer ran loose on their streets. The people of the entire world are scared as a crazy virus attacks the unsuspecting and often vulnerable. At times, it seemed impossible to catch this nut job because even though they were following a pattern, it was unpredictable. The same can be said for this virus. As you can see, even very different, things could be seen as similar. In Voodoo Burning salvation came in the form of Ignatius Beauchamp and Dominique Chavelle. These two worked together to take down a killer, break a curse and find love. In the fight against this virus salvation can come in the form of the human race, as a whole, doing their part to slow the spread, flatten the curve and show love and compassion for each other. There is hope, all is not lost and years from now when I look at this review I will remember one of the amazing stories that helped me through a rough and frightening time. I highly recommend this author and this story.
In the forgotten underbelly of New Orleans, women are being sacrificed. Dominique has been called in to help catch the killer before he/she can strike again Tasked with deciphering the ritual marks left behind and separating fact from fiction should be easy for her- After all, she is one of them Things get a little too hot as she closes in on the truth
Ignatius is from one of the original families - Old blood But his path is a bit different from his ancestors Instead of watching the innocent burn🔥, he is fighting the flames that feast upon them Drawn to Dominique from the moment she crossed his path he finds himself consumed with the need to know her, to protect her She brings out his darkness like nothing else
Can he battle the darkness that is New Orleans Voodoo, protect his city and the woman who calls to his soul? Or is this evil a more earthly entity?
Both have secrets Both feel the pull - Calling to them Encouraging them to feed their earthly desires. When the smoke begins to clear they have to ask themselves-
Sacrifices or Misdirection?
The chemistry between Ignatius and Dominique is explosive Ignatius has a darkness to him that is awakened when it comes to sins of the flesh and Dominique The burn between these two could ignite the world around them Dominique is one of those lead females that just takes control of the situation - No hesitation No waffling back and forth I loved her responses - her take no chit attitude I will warn some of you that our killer takes his/her ritual killings to a whole new level - so if you are squeamish I suggest a bag to the left and a teddy to the right
As I have come to expect from Catalano's work this is a delicious blend of erotica and thriller/suspense

Voodoo Burning is a emotional roller coaster that sends you to the depths of hell and back up to the clouds above. Dominique Chavelle is a special criminal investigator who not only is one of the best in her field but a direct descendant from the voodoo priestesses of New Orleans. She’s back to help solve some of the worst crimes New Orleans has ever seen. Ignatius Beauchamp is a firefighter and a plantation heir but also a sexy alpha male who tries to help Dominique find out who is behind all the horrific murders. Along the way they develop a strong and steamy affair with ties that are strong enough to endure every thing thrown their way except for the murderer who is after Dominique. Will these two find out before its to late who is doing all these gruesome and diabolical crimes or will she be the next victim? NM Catalano is one of the best writers that can take you on a ride that sometimes you want to jump off before the end but gives you the best too so you hang on for the ride and just pray it all works out. She’s the Queen of hot and steamy and dark and twisted.

It will keep you on the edge of your seat squirming and melting with all of the passion and chemistry oozing off the pages! You will be enthralled by Ignatius and Dominique and their highly combustible and explosive fast paced romance. It will set your kindle on fire!
In between all of the passion on the pages this amazing author weaves a very dramatic and suspenseful murder mystery that will have your jaw dropping and possibly shock you to the core!
From beginning to end this one epic mystery with passion and depravity on every page. Be ready for one amazing and intense roller coaster ride of epic proportions. Bravo to this amazing author and her outstanding writing talent!
Voodoo Burning is twisted and I loved it. This is a whole other level is dark and erotic from N.M. Catalano and it will make you clutch your pearls for sure. Hands down loved Ignatius and Dominique. I have to say that Voodoo Burning is the craziest story I've read so far by this author and saying a lot if you've ever read one of her books. Reading this book was one twisted rollercoaster that had me almost scared to see what would happen next. The Voodoo Killer is no joke and the author does a great job giving off that creepy suspenseful feeling that literally makes hairs stand up on the back of your neck.
While these gruesome murders are happening and the clock is ticking, we also get this wonderfully dark and erotic romance between Ignatius and Dominique. It was hotter than hot and I loved how drawn to each other they were. Ignatius was dominant and didn't hesitate to take care of Dominique and try to shield her from these murders that left even her shaken.
All I have to say is that this book was really good and I definitely enjoyed reading this book.
