Thanks for the prologue and recap of book 1...always helpful. The action picks up quite a bit in this book, both in Texas and in Wisconsin. I did try to tell Becca who the sinister watcher might be, but she did figure it out. The bad guys which are mostly Biopharm and the military (esp one general) are pretty one dimensional and almost entirely focused on the truth of what happened not being disseminated. They also don't seem as concerned about the virus getting to them as what I would think but it may be from their one dimensional thinking. I don't know what to make of Abby, but think ultimately she holds the key to the truth. On to book 3.
Desolation is the 2nd book in the Days of Extinction series and, seriously, ratchets up the tension from book 1, with Dan, Abby and Rhonda ending up in government hands and a new foe from the past emerging at the Porter homestead, leading up to a direct attack. Tension runs through the prose like a high tension wire. The pervasive sense of danger is evident from page 1. This is a book you'll want to read in a single sitting, so be sure you have the time to finish it! 5/5 stars! saying I can't wait for the next installment is an understatement!
A human-made virus gets loose. World is crumbling, but the real action in this typical plot is humans killing humans while relegating the virus killing millions to a minor player. The main good guys don't seem all that concerned about the killer virus and neither do the main villains. Entire nations are being wiped out according to the conclusion occasional brief reference. but we're mostly supposed to worry about the villains trying to kill the protagonists.
Great reading so well written. One of those books you hate to put down. Wondering if Dan will ever get home. Such a long ways to travel.i can see lots of excitement in the next book.
While this series has an interesting storyline there is quite a bit of repetition in this installment. The characters are entertaining and I like most of the main characters. There are a couple of big surprises and lots of violence.
Great story. Plenty of thrills and drama to keep you reading. This second book in the series doesn't disappoint and definitely recommend that you give it ago.
