In this novel, the heroine, Raven, leads a rather strange and solitary existence in which she usually goes unnoticed or is forgotten. She works as a housekeeper at a luxury resort in Las Vegas and her job is very important to her even though her co-workers often can’t remember who she is.

Oddly enough, despite this strange aspect, she has been attacked many times throughout her life and has had to rely on her keen instincts, street smarts and rather exceptional fighting skills to survive. Raven believes that she's been a target because she’s a single woman living in the poor, sketchy part of town.

She’s wrong.

And in this case, what she doesn’t know can and will hurt her.

So when Cain Henson enters her world twice in one day, she doesn't know what to make of it. Raven first meets him while cleaning the Penthouse at work, but is freaked out three hours later when she finds him standing inside her apartment. Especially since her door is still locked.

And, weirdly, he doesn’t remember meeting her at all.

So who is he? What is he?

And why won't he leave her alone?

As Cain puts it: “I’m here to protect you.”

From this point on, craziness ensues and her world is turned upside down and inside out...

I got a kick out of Raven because she's strong, feisty and determined to make up her own mind. In many cases, I got where she was coming from and why she didn't like being told what to do. Still, she could be pretty stubborn sometimes and she didn't always make the best decisions which got her into a ton of trouble. It made sense though because she was resisting the truth, afraid to depend on anyone (as she never had anyone to rely on) and after a lifetime of feeling ignored, it was just too hard for her to accept or believe that she might be special.

But she is.

I enjoyed the unfolding storyline, the action and the unraveling of the mystery of Raven's identity as well as the often hot and conflicted dynamics between her and Cain. This book also had a number of interesting and/or fascinating secondary characters who took me further down the rabbit hole and made me want to read more. There is also a definite sense of humor in these pages which I appreciated as well as the burgeoning romance and unique paranormal aspects.

I listened to the audio book and once I became accustomed to the narrator, Roni Gallimore, I found myself sucked into the story line and liked her reading of this tale. Her voice was well modulated, the differentiation and portrayal of the characters was clear, and I found the story easy to listen to. I like to read along with the narrator, when possible, and also to reread certain passages, so I was often going back and forth between the audio book and the e-book.

(I would always recommend trying the sample with any audio book to see if the narrator's voice is one that you are personally comfortable with.)

I have already bought and will be reading Unleashed (Unmemorable, #2) by A.P. Jensen which is the second book in this series. I'm really looking forward to it.

I adored this.

This book was a easy, quick, casual read. It's definitely not a crazy, non-stop action packed adventure. I mean there is certainly some action and fantasy elements, but they were pretty light. At its core the story a promising one, but there were definitely some gaps in logic.

The romance is sweet, but then you remember this all somehow happened within about two weeks time and you're like, wait what? Lol, but honestly this happens seems to happen pretty often in so it's not something it didn't really bother me too much.

Raven
She's smart, stubborn, independent survivor. She's been on her own essentially all her life. And she's managed to make it this far depending on no one but herself and her instincts. I genuinely liked her a lot. But I do find it odd that she somehow survived 27 years of people forgetting her every time they turned their back. I mean, how did she manage to keep any job if her employer forgot her every time they turned around? Very weird.

Cain
He's got a bit of that alpha male vibe, but not overly so. Tasked with protecting Raven from the Battallion, Cain takes his job seriously. He is, at least at the start, unquestionably loyal to The Council. He is a determined, cocky and a tad controlling at times, but he is also thoughtful and supportive. And unlike a lot of male leads, he refuses to let misunderstandings fester between him and Raven. He has no qualms about choosing her over everything.

I received this book free for review. I think if you like stories with supernatural powers, a good built-up romance and enjoy the occasional fight I think you’d find this very entertaining. If the sequel becomes available in audio I will defiantly be getting it.

Nope, I was not impressed, not at all. The bones of a good story were here. The writing is pretty good. The editing is un-noteworthy, meaning it didn't grab my attention, which is what you want in editing. But there my praise mostly ends. Yes, I'll concede that Raven was sassy and determined to remain independent. Both of which are good qualities, too bad they're completely undermined at every single stage of the book. Every-time she attempted independent action she ended up in trouble, needing rescue.

She's obstinate to the point of ridiculousness. Well past the point when the truth is impossible to deny she's still denying it and insisting on going back to work, which is just stupid and suicidal. As is insisting she be allowed to go to the club when people are hunting and trying to kill her. It was so obviously only a chance to get her in a skimpy dress so he could ogle her and move the sex along that I actually cringed. But mostly it was just STSL.

The sex was...oh, wow...bad. When she yelped indignantly, he pulled off her pants and put on a condom. Before she could sit up, he sat with his back against the headboard and pulled her over him to straddle his cock. That's her loosing her virginity and there is literally NO FOREPLAY (or hymen to deal with). All of the sex is like that, abortive and un-erotic.

There are also a few plot holes that, while maybe not large, annoyed me. First, she is so forgettable that her mother literally walked away and left her in a park at 1 day old. So, how did she manage to get raised in foster care? How did her Foster parents remember her? Second, if she is so dramatically forgettable how has she made it to 27 without noticing that this is something special? It's freakin' impossible. People forget her between one blink and the next, even when standing in front of her. But it did provide the perfect opportunity to show a woman as so stupid she doesn't even know about herself until a man (Cain) comes along and mansplains it to her. No thank you.

Similarly, she is a Barbie. I don't mean her physical appearance. I mean the book is full of things she's never done, never experienced, never tried, etc. It's so prevalent that I finally decided she didn't really exist until Cain showed up to see her and take her out of her packaging, because apparently she spent 27 years doing nothing.

But worst of all, the whole this is bloody boring. Almost nothing happens. They play scrabble, talk and watch Lost (an unfortunate and dated media reference). Then nothing concludes or wraps up. As far as I'm concerned it might as well have been a series of random events with no beginning point and no end.

Surprisingly good but not quite excellent. Raven takes way too long to accept that there is something different about her, and she fights it the whole way. The beginning dragged a bit but then it got super interesting with betrayals and double crosses popping up all over. Raven was tough when she needed to be and did have a backbone, but her refusal to quit working was annoying and stupid. That being said I'm pretty sure I'm jumping right into the next book.

3.5 stars.

This one got off to a slow start. I have read a few A.P. Jensen books -- enough to know I really like what I have read from her but not enough to have a feel for whether she's going to be a consistent author for me. At first, I found myself thinking that this was going to be a "miss" for me because the story took a bit to get going and for a little while, Raven and Cain didn't have much chemistry on the romantic front. Happily, I was eventually proven wrong.

The first half of the book was okay, but the story as a whole didn't really get good for me until about halfway through, when Raven's powers were identified. That's when she started to gel for me as a character and when she and Cain started to make more sense as a couple that I could root for, other than the standard Because the Plot Says So front. The book also started discussing more about the opposing sides about that point and I found myself agreeing with Raven that just because the Council identifies themselves as "the good guys," allying herself with them might still not be in her best interest. Cain was a bit hard to get to know in this installment, but I'm hoping that future books will flesh him out more.

I counted off a star because some of the dialogue was a little awkward in parts and also because I caught a couple of plot holes as I was reading. Plus, there were some serious editorial problems with this book, including major typos and spelling and grammatical errors that were numerous enough that it took my attention away from the story. I also counted off an additional half a star because some of Raven's behavior bordered on TSTL, even if it never quite teetered in for me (I'll reserve judgment until I read what happens in the second book).

That said, I still had a lot of fun with this one and I'd love to read the second one, although I'm not in a huge hurry since I have to be careful with my ducats.

I'd recommend this to someone looking for an urban fantasy-ish book, especially if you're looking for a new author. I wouldn't call it 100% UF, but I'd probably categorize it there before any other category. I liked the premise and that it wasn't the usual shifter/vampire/witch/fairy/dragon/[pick a creature of your choice] stuff you see. This wasn't my favorite of Jensen's books, but it was another "pro" in her author column.

Raven has spent her life feeling unwanted and the only work she can get is as a cleaner. Yet she keeps on keeping on and is proud of her work and that she landed a job in one of Las Vegas's Big swanky hotels on the Strip. She suffers from warning premonitions that have served her well over the years... if she heeds them. But this time she doesn't want to move on. This time she can finally afford cable TV and she likes it. SO she stays and that is when she meets Cain, the mysterious wealthy tough guy who is staying in the penthouse suite. He claims he is sent to help her and to find out what her secret 'power' is. Raven isn't impressed. She doesn't doubt him after he demonstrates his own power. But she isn't impressed and wants to return to her regular life. At first there is no attraction between her and Cain but it slowly builds over the days they are together. Raven's special power (well it's more like a curse) is pretty easy to guess, but I didn't find this detracted from the story at all. It is pretty hard to believe that she was oblivious to it her whole life so exercise some suspension of disbelief. Still it was an intriguing idea and the book was a fun fast read and not as predictable as you'd expect. I listened to this one on audio. The reader, Roni Galimore does a great job. The ending is satisfying but there is obviously going to be another book after this. I loved Cain and how his character unfolds over the length of the story. Raven is a an awesome strong heroine and she kicks ass with the best of them! Totally looking forward to the next book and just reading more/anything by this author!
Oh yah, and I love the cover! So nice that it isn't another decapitated male torso.

I'm all about characters with powers of some kind, so I was excited to try this one out. This story really started to warm up about halfway in. I wasnt crazy about Cain at all until he opened up and we got to see how he really felt at the end. The idea of the unmemorables were so original and that was my favorite part of this story. I listened to the audiobook version and I liked the narrator. I felt that she was a good fit for this book, and did a great job with it. I really enjoyed this audiobook a lot, and I really hope to get my hands on the next soon!

Unmemorable by A. P. Jensen was a pleasant listen. A perfect 6 ½ hour listen with this steady pace fantasy romance. This book will lend itself as not being Unmemorable by a long shot. As a matter of fact, you will find yourself thinking back at the scenes throughout this book. As you reach the end of the book it will leave you wanting more. The characters are so lovable. Raven, the main character that the story revolves around. Cain Henson, the warrior sent there to protect her. His wonderfully candid grandfather. Many other characters that may not be so lovable yet hold this story together like glue.

Her main character Raven lends to the story at a nice pace. Keeping her life as private from her co-workers as possible. Yet they forget her everyday which seems odd to her. Are they that forgetful she has to remind them of her name? As a matter of fact everyone that she comes in contact with forgets who she is. They always seem to be looking for someone that does not even look like her. From the time she was a baby and left by her mother in a playground. Raven finds herself shuffled from one foster home to another. So she finds herself going from place to place across the country once she was old enough to be on her own.

Now she finds herself back in Las Vegas. A maid at a luxury resort. Sent to the Penthouse to clean and she comes into contact with Cain. That night she comes into contact with him again. This time to save her. Save her from what? This is where the story takes off in a non-ending ride to the very end.

I am not going to be a spoiler of the story except that Raven finds out that she is the Unmemorable one. For you as the reader/listener is what you will need to find out what that means. I promise if you are into fantasy with a huge splash of drama and romance then this book is for you. It took me a few days to listen through because of work. I really wanted to listen from start to finish and if I knew it was going to be this good I would have waited on my day off!

This is my first time listening to the narrator, Roni Gallimore. She did an amazing job with each and every character. Transition between the voices, the moods in each scene to just the regular dialog. She made it where you were the one looking thru a store window with your nose glue to it. You wanted to see more. This story could stand on its own but, with the sequel “Unleash” is now out (waiting on the audio) in book form. Is now on my Read List!!!

This book was provided to me by the author for a listen and review. All the views above are strictly mine and in no way was I influenced by others. I encourage you to leave a comment if you found this review helpful or not.

UNMEMORABLE: Unmemorable Series Book One

Author: A.P. Jensen

Type of Book: Audiobook - Unabridged

Narrator: Roni Gallimore

Length: 6 hours, 35 minutes

Genre: Romance, Fantasy

Release Date: January 21, 2015

Publisher: A.P. Jensen

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

* I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Raven has no friends, no family and lives in a rough neighborhood. She is a loner and works as a housekeeper where everyone ignores her. Raven is also cautious. She has been attacked in almost every city she has ever lived in. She never thought much of it since she has always lived in ghetto areas.

Cain Henson is rich and gorgeous. He is also a bodyguard. He has been sent to protect Raven from The Battalion. Cain's grandfather is a Seer and he believes that Raven has a very special gift. That is why Cain must protect her... whether she likes it or not.

The Battalion is a group who wants nothing less than world dominance. They kidnap or kill people who have powers. That is why Raven cannot understand why they are interested in a nobody like her. She doesn't believe she has any powers and she doesn't believe she is important at all.

What follows is a tale of magic, powers, good and evil, romance and suspense. This book is memorable.

A.P. Jensen has created an entirely new subset of people on the planet with very unique powers. It will be fascinating to discover what happens next in The Unmemorable series.

The narrator has the perfect voice for this story. She uses inflection and tone very well.
I rate the narration as 4 out of 5 stars.

What did you love best about Unmemorable?
Raven she is a strong no non sense kind of girl.

What did you like best about this story?
The love story between Raven and Cain. So hot!

Which scene was your favorite?
When Raven jumps out the window to save herself. Too funny!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes!

Any additional comments?
I feel in love with the main characters. This is the 1st book I've listened to by A.P. Jensen but I'm hooked. Now I'm one of her newest paranormal romance fans!

The author has created a new paranormal female heroine Raven. She is hard working maid until a man comes into her life that she is not so sure about. We the readers learn to trust her savior Cain as she does. I'm not a paranormal heroine but I felt like I could relate with the main character Raven. Raven comes across as a real life person just trying hard to get by. Finding it hard to trust new people in her life after feeling lonely and left out in this world. She is an unmemorable. One of her powers causes people to forget her once she is out of their line of sight. She is the only female unmemorable in the known world.

In the story line there are two paranormal sides. Both want Raven to help control the other. She finds both are not good or bad. Just not really on her side.
She falls for her savior Cain and finally has someone that wants her for her. He falls truly in love with her. Having a best friend, a lover and a love interest in her life is very new and scary for Raven. Someone who will protect her and take care of her. When all her life she has to fend for herself. It is easy to see that she is uncomfortable with being taken care of. I think most women would feel this way. It also makes her very easy to relate too. I really wanted to listen to this book non stop.

I think if someone was looking for new and different. A.P. Jensen has a book for you. LOL I know that I'm always looking for a new series to get into. So now I can't wait to read the next books in the series.

The narrator Roni Gallimore is great. She does the sassy voice perfect and you can see Raven rolling her eyes while your listening. She made her life like and funny!

Thank you to the author for an audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, I'm always a fan of super-power type stories and the idea of Unmemorables really appealed to me as an original idea.

It looked at both sides of this 'gift' from the views of different people, which I particularly enjoyed. Raven is a strong woman, both physically and mentally. What I loved above all else was that while she was being beaten up, kidnapped, insulted and generally abused - she still insisted on going to work and earning her own living rather than allowing herself to owe anyone else a thing.

The relationship between Cain and Raven creeped me out a little bit as it toed the line between passionate and abusive, a little TOO close to the line, but it definitely pulled it back to 'passionate' at the end. It was the feeling that Raven was being made to feel guilty for not immediately thanking him for helping her, despite her not knowing what's going on or asking for his help in the first place.

The end of this story blew my mind, expanding the entire scope of the story and leaving me desperate for more! It isn't an uncomfortable cliffhanger of an ending though, it ties everything up neatly but lets you know that there's plenty more to come.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes a supernatural genre with an original edge.

You wont be forgetting Unmemorable.  This is the second book of A.P. Jensen's that I have read, and it will not be the last.
This is a new original twist on  the usual paranormal story line.  Raven is a 30 year old strong independent housekeeper with no family or friends,
who believes she is not " something "enough, pretty, friendly, ect...,  for people to want to be her friend or even to remember her.
She learns after being attacked and rescued sort of by Cain a man that can walk through walls, that as unbelievable as it sounds,
she' s not any of these things. She is a one of a kind female unmemorable, sought out like a mythical unicorn by two warring factions of the paranormal world.
There are some descriptive sexy sex scenes, that are well placed in the story.
Quote from Cain to Raven "“Most of the time, I don’t know whether to fight you, spank you or screw you. You make me crazy and
you don’t listen to me, which pisses me off.”
The story is easy to follow with characters that draw you in. I did not put this book down until i read the last page.
This could be read as a stand alone book, but the story and the characters have me wondering what they are up to.
I'm glad the second book in this series Unleashed well be released soon

Unmemorable was a tricky listen for me at first. It sneaked on me quick. I was lost at the beginning and bam, it all started coming together. I like the 'Unmemorable' idea. I thought that Raven was a great character to move this into the next book in the series, especially towards the end. Cain was hard at first then as the story unfolds, he softens somewhat to a more likeable character. I love all the supporting characters such as Cain's family.

A stand out for me was the narration style. I like the progressive narration. It built on itself. Roni Gallimore did a terrific job with this. Her voice was a perfect compliment to the story. To me, this is where author and narrator really click an audiobook together.

Overall, I would recommend this one. It's different and it has promise. It was a good new take on the paranormal. I'm not sure if I would call it romance, but about two thirds of the way through it had an unexpected full on s.e.x. scene which for me was a take it or leave it thing. It didn't take away from the book and the book would have stood on it's own without it. So, it's just a matter of taste.

I was given the audio version of this book for a honest review by the Author.
I really enjoyed this story, kept me involved with it to see where it would end up going next. Raven is and unmemorable, meaning people meet her turn away and totally forget they ever saw her. In order to remember her you would have to have something of her in one case a lock of her hair braided and tied around your wrist or another was to drink her blood.
Raven's mother forgot her when she was 1 day old and she spent her life being ignored in foster care( because no one remembered her). Raven did not know why she was always ignore, she knew nothing about Unmemorables until one day it was all explained to her when she met Cain Henson who explains it all to her.
It is a very interesting story follow Raven as she learns of her ability and how it works as well as meeting her Father, who I thinks she wishes she could forget.

Good fast paced read

Had this been a standalone story I would have given it 5 stars. The story does not end in a cliffhanger but it does leave you wanting more.

The story line is strong, the characters are unique and likeable...I found myself feeling for the main character and the life she's led, and you can't help but respect her for rising above it all and charging on with her life with a strong backbone and determination.

The story was well crafted and fast-paced. I was never bored and I never considered putting the book down to read in a few days. The romance in the story was something that just happened, the story was more action and suspense with romantic elements.

I will be recommending this to my friends.

Unmemorable is different from the usual PNR. To me this is a nice new twist on the usual paranormal story line. We have Raven a 30 year old strong independent housekeeper in a casino in Vegas with no family or friends, she lives a strange and unusual life, for people don't remember her
She learns after being attacked and rescued by Cain a man that can walk through walls, that She is a female unmemorable, sought after by two warring factions of the paranormal world.
The story is easy to follow with characters that draw you in. I throughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading Unleashed.

Raven is a housekeeper in a hotel. She feels as if no one sees her.The fact is,they don't,because she is 'unmemorable'.This book is about Raven finding out who she is.It's a well written book. The characters are solid.I expect them to be even more fleshed out in the rest of the series.I found Roni Gallimore s narration to be good, but a bit too slow.A bit more emotion reflected in Ravens voice would be nice.

The idea of being unmemorable as a power is an interesting idea and could have been a good book unfortunately Raven, the FMC is an annoying obnoxious brat.

Raven being unmemorable is never remembered by anyone once they look away even including her mother who abandoned her a day after she was born. Yet she was raised through the foster system. How would a social worker remember to place her or input her information if she is forgotten once the other person looks away? Unmemorable's can't even be photographed. So how can she have a drivers license?

She has a housecleaning job at a swank hotel in Las Vegas making minimum wage. Her supervisor finds her to review her work. How would the supervisor find her to review her work if she is unmemorable? There are a lot of these type of plot fails to the unmemorable story line.

The council and the Battalion both want Raven. The council knows about her through a seer but the battalion has been trying to kidnap her for 10 years in different locations. How can they even remember her since she is unmemorable? Henchmen from the Battalion come to the hotel where she works to grab her. How can the henchman find her, remember her etc?

She keeps going back to the hotel to work even after the Battalion have come at her several times. She could literally get a job cleaning hotels anywhere but she adamantly refuses to accept money, help from anyone nor the idea of getting a job somewhere else. It makes no sense and is downright insulting to the reader.

The romance between Raven and Cain is disturbing. It reads more like coercion to downright force. There is absolutely no foreplay and yet it is supposed to be good for Raven. Maybe Raven thinks it is good since she was a virgin and has no idea what sex should be like. This is why all teenage girls should be given toys .

Raven has lead a nomadic lifestyle and yet seems to not have experienced anything. Luckily rich, white Cain swoops in to mansplane things.
