En esta universidad no todos son iguales, algunos son estudiantes normales, otros son becados, pero está la élite, los Alpha Fraternarii, un grupo de 4 jóvenes que "se creen" superiores a todos y que el resto de los estudiantes los ama y los odia, pero sobre todo los respeta. Ahora, la nueva generación quiere cambiar un poco las cosas, así que recibes una invitación para una prueba secreta, lee todo el texto antes de aceptar, porque una vez que lo hagas no hay vuelta atrás.

Ahora, no tenia ni idea de que se trataba el libro. Por la sinopsis asumí que era una dark-academy, tal vez de seres sobre-naturales. Pero nada me sorprendió mas que saber que son seres humanos normales y que su poder radica en como someten a los demás a través del sexo, y como sus costumbres son tan eróticas que quedas asombrado.
Sin embargo, lo que mas me gusto de este libro (que hay que estar claro, es 100% erótico) es la narración. El autor te transporta al mundo oscuro y un poco siniestro de la universidad, el prota te transmite su miedo, desconcierto y emoción por estar participando, y sobre todo, te permite adentrarte a este grupo o sociedad secreta, sin tener que haber leído los libros anteriores.
Y si, es un spin-off (yo no lo sabía antes de leerlo), de otra serie del mismo autor llamada "The Initiation", que es donde se describe con detalle los origines de esta universidad, y por supuesto, esa serie entro en mi lista de TBR para el próximo año.
No queda mas que decir, que voy a continuar con esta serie, esperando que los demás libros resulten tan entretenidos como este.

Some of my better books for this year definitely belongs to Miss Lola Malone. She is mothering, I fear. I liked Crown of Disguise (3 stars) for it set up the premise for this whole universe. On the other hand, Crown of Steel is one of my 5 stars read! That book got me on a choke hold until this very moment. I'm giving this book 3 stars because it was just a novella packed with untouchable tropes: secret society x primal play x virgin trope? I gagged. I was hooked but I wanted more. When the romance started with Thurel and Mael, the book ended. I was soooo fucking hungry but now I set my expectations to the right level for the other books in this series.

Saint-Laurent is a place where darkness, possession, and primal desires run wild. The environment is full of secrets, hidden desires, and long-undiscovered truths. I loved being back in this world where the characters are full of endless surprises. Collared is a high-heat novella that I could not get enough of and it fits perfectly within this dark academic universe. I am so excited for more!!!

This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.

This story takes place in the world of Saint-Laurent. The brotherhood is back and another member is about to be initiated.

In the novella, Thurel participates in the Wicked Chase for 2 hours…hunted down by Silver Mask. In the process, Thurel learns the history of the Alpha Fraternarii and what being a brother entails.

This story is full of intense moments, power plays, debauchery, and spice. The primal play in this story is well done. This book is both seductive and sweet. Thurel is an innocent. Maël is obsessed. He is both captivated by and possessive of Thurel. Maël may crave control, but he is also gentle. Thurel and Maël fit well together as a couple and the MCs’ story is engaging.

Trigger Warnings Note: This storing features claiming and collaring. It also has moments of dub-con, use of drugs, and humiliation.

The electric connection between Maël & Thurel was so good. Maël is dominating and craves control while still being gentle for his pet. Thurel grew within the novella, accepting his fate even though he wasn’t sure what he wanted, he wanted to be seen and chosen.

The upper class, the aristocrats, live by ranks, and Thurel as a newly, is low.

Maël is of the highest class and he wants Thurel, his beautiful angel, he’s already possessive, and he will have him, even though Thurel doesn’t know it yet.

Thurel gets an invite from the secret brotherhood… and he accepts, sweet Thurel doesn’t even know what he signed up for.

Ghahh that was an awesomely written, comfortable-paced, tantalizing, stimulating tale!! All those little details, hoarse voices, moans, breath inhales, whimpers, and of course the hunt, it was all super intense and sensual. The rituals were magnificent, dark and hot.
Even though it is about chasing, claiming, collaring, exposing, spice, rituals, power, and wealth, there’s also sweetness and tenderness.
Overall a super entertaining novella.

I have to confess usually don't read novellas because they are not my thing but I had to read this one because Lola Malone wrote it in the same world as the Initiation series and I looooove this series. This story is another great one. It was a fast and hot read. The tension was high and both sweet Thurel and kinky Maël are great characters. Lola keeps on adding more amazing stories to this series! Can't wait to read the next one!

well damn .... this book... It is my first mm book and I can honestly say I loved it, the story line was incredible and followed a beautiful hide and seek through the forest, the prize for being the last man standing well... you want to win lets just say that. I loved it from cover to cover and couldn't put it down for long. for a short story there was so much that happened I felt like I had read a full book!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Lola has once again transported me straight back to Saint Laurent Boarding College for boys and in to the captivating clutches of the Alpha Fraternarii. This novella delivers on so many levels!

The Alpha Fraternarii is a secret brotherhood of the elite created as a result of the French Revolution.

Are the rules they live by but the debauchery, wickedness and mystery is what I love about them!

As soon as I open one of Lola’s books my heart starts to pound with excitement and exhilaration because I know that she ALWAYS delivers on the spice, the intrigue and a special kind of mysticism that I’ve never read from another author. Collared is no different except it’s filthier, more intense and so damn hot!!’

Maël is deliciously intense, kinky but also caring and Thurel is sweet but stubborn and maybe a little naive. The chase is probably one of the hottest things I’ve read in a while but when Thurel is caught 🔥🔥🔥.

I really cannot recommend this wicked novella enough it’s got everything you need and did I mention it’s hot AF!!

ARC Review!

Oh dang when I tell you this captured me from the very beginning!! I breezed through this one, I just had this need to keep reading about Maël and Thurel! I didn't think a Novella couple could top the Novel couples but these two gave them a run for their money 🥹 they are SO different from the couples from CoD and CoS! there's just something so perfect between them. their chemistry 😍 how sweet Maël is toward Thurel and reassuring but also domineering 🥵 and then how submissive Thurel is from the beginning, but also knows this is what he wants and he'll get it, no matter how nervous he is. I still hate the brotherhood tho 😂 but it's in a good way!! Like the whole premise is written so perfectly and real that I'm like "dang elite society be crazy" 😂 Another winner by Lola Malone for me!

So this one was a hard one for me to rate. On one hand it was REALLY good. The story, the tension, the characters. I loved it. Main part of the writing was also really good, but there were things that in the end took down the rating quite a bit for me, and while I almost gave it a 4 star, it didn't really reach all the way.

First it was the constant use of the word "digit(s)". It's an odd choice to begin with, and it became so repetitive that it took away from the heat.

Second, the constant random French lines. It was cute in the beginning, but soon it became rather frustrating because well, I don't speak French. Random words over and over that I don't understand... eh, no thank you.

But overall the story was very good. It was hot and intriguing and Mael made me shiver with his words. Definitely a recommended read.

Thurel believes this night, this Wicked Chase is just a fun hazing for a frat house within the Saint-Laurent Boarding College. Little does he know that this is no one-and-done game. The Brotherhood is a secretive and sacred group that doesn't just stop at this college. It begins here and Thurel is about to take his first steps into the Brotherhood and possibly get initiated into it. If he wins the chase. . .

This is going to be a series of four novellas set in the world of Saint-Laurent Boarding College for Boys! They can be read as standalones from "The Initiation Series", but I think for a better reading experience they should be read after "Crown of Steel: Book 2". It's completely up to you, just if you've read the main series, you know more about the college, brotherhood, and some of the characters presented. Either way enjoy Lola's writing and just the dark college romance!


This college is for the very rich and influential. Basically, all of the students enrolled have very important families with money. Within the hierarchy there's even divides amongst the wealthier students. Who came from old money, new money, or found money. Power is a currency that many fear and respect within the halls of the institution. Thurel taking note of the differences and how the "higher" class guys act like they're above everyone else.


I could relate to Thurel and being tired of just being okay. Treading water, not drowning, but not moving forward in any clear direction. He wants to end that monotony and be someone and something. When he's chosen for the Wicked Chase, he kind of lets his excitement for the possibility of new get the better of him. Not bothering with reading the fine print of an NDA until he's in the woods at night with some other men! Soon realizing maybe, he should have taken a closer look at the contract.


Lola's dark writing is something that has always drawn me into her books! Just the psychological aspect of things and how the MCs interact with one another. Such twisted seduction that just sends good chills down your spine. Sucking you further into the read as you watch the tale unfold! And this novella is all about primal play and bringing out the want and need of a character.

Thurel plays along with this game, but he gives his chaser a bit of a challenge. I enjoyed how he faced Maël and put up a fight. Maël enjoying it just as much if not more and pleased to have chosen Thurel for this. The dynamic between the two was fantastic and so hot. The two also having different views about sex and what that meant to them. Public sex is not viewed as a shameful act, and many do it freely.

This novella is more of an erotica with some plot to it! We do have language and be mindful of the TWs. There's dubious/non-consent but I very much appreciate that when the moment comes for MM action Maël ensures it's completely okay with Thurel. This is a dark romance and with the chase you do feel Thurel's fear. We get dual POVs, mainly in Thurel's POV to really feel the intensity of things and understand the chase. There's some humiliation and Master/Pet play. Being collared by a specially designed collar for our MMC.


Maël may be very possessive of Thurel but he also cares for Thurel. Aftercare is shown and I love how in public Maël puts on a bit of a show on, you will have to read the book to understand why, but in private it's gentler and more intimate. Maël also doesn't allow anyone to touch what's his! HEA for our main characters!


I need the other three novellas of this series! Do enjoy this primal MM erotica that's less than two hundred pages long! And don't forget to give the author some stars!

At the Saint-Laurent boarding college for boys, there is a hierarchy of rich to ultra rich, Thurel is just an average guy, average grades, plays football, has some friends but when he receives a mysterious invitation to join the Wicked Chase. Not really knowing what it is or what he has signed in the NDA he goes along - looking for something greater than he is currently.

He arrives in the forest with 3 other hopeful guys, all in masks. They find out that they have to spend two hours in the forest running from their opponent - someone in a matching coloured mask and if they make the two hours they will be invited to join the secret society. But if/when caught they will be used however the captor pleases, including sexually - all for their entertainment. His opponent pulls out a collar, tied to a rope and gives him a pointed stare.

Thurel runs, spotting several of the others along his way, unsure if this is for real or if it is a prank. When Maël finds him, Thurel fights him off several times but eventually he is cornered and gives in. Their masks are taken off and Maël explains what is going to happen, how he chose him, and that he has won the evening. He has never been with a man before, but everything about Maël intrigues him.

““How does that feel, hmm?” He brings a hand over mine, clutching the rope. When I don’t reply, aside from my pathetic moans, he whispers, “I’ll tell you what it feels like to me. I’m feeling fùk|ng euphoric, sweet Thurel. I get to have you, baby, after I chose you. After I hunted you down, I’m about to claim you. You’ll become my world. Serré, mon ange. Je t’ai serré.””

This story was super interesting, a nice short novella to get a glimpse at this world, fabulous spice, really liked Maëls character too!

Can I say something?

I'll keep this short because I think a lot of people are really into these novellas but I'm not one of them.

And I don't mean the story was boring or the characters weren't developed. I'm talking solely about the pacing. This book Well overstayed it's welcome. Even the smut stopped being enjoyable after a while because it went on for so long. I don't know if that's the author's writing style or a poignant choice because it's a novella but I feel like I was reading this for 5 years.

This next part is completely personal but I don't think I'm alone when I say reading about a powerful secret societies of rich white men isn't appealing. In fact, it's a huge turn off. There's nothing interesting about people who have everything and want for nothing. There's no struggle, nothing that grounds them or makes them human. And maybe that's the point. I haven't read the series this novel is attached to so I don't know. What I do know is that this didn't make me want to read the books. Dark academia is filled with possibilities and twist and turns. This was a very boring to take in my opinion.

Truth be told, there's nothing wrong with this book and I wouldn't be surprised if people loved it, but I really didn't. I wish I had known more about this series and world because it's definitely not for me and I wouldn't have picked this up. Even if you are a fan and can overlook the pacing issues I don't think there's much here outside of long drawn out smut. There's definitely an audience for this but I don't know who she is I'm not trying to hang out with her. 2.5 stars because yeah it's fine but come on. A secret society of rich and powerful white men who control and rule everything and suffer no repercussions or consequences? Read the room. That's the last thing a lot of us want to read.

Collared: Serré, by Lola Malone, is a dark, romantic novella about being remolded into something carnal. The Saint-Laurent Boarding College for Boys is home to the Alpha Fraternarii, a secret society for boys and men dedicated to ruling the world through blood, money, and sex. Students are given a special opportunity to join the society through a hunt, where the last survivor standing receives the honor. A young man named Thurel Aubert gets invited to join the hunt, unknowingly walking into the arms of an obsessed predator.

Malone definitely has me interested in the series. For one thing, it’s entirely plausible that the absurdly wealthy have a clandestine network of sex partners ready and willing for them to exploit (the weird thing is that it’s all somewhat consensual for the most part. Then again, you can thank Weinstein and Maxwell for that). Additionally, I adored Thurel and Maël’s dynamic; I swear he’s human, but Maël presents himself as this demonic character who will stop at nothing to “devour” Thurel. It reminds me of paranormal romances where the predator engages in primal play with their victim/lover. 

I’d like to know more about the world. I’d want to see how much abuse is rife within this dark romance, and whether or not either Thurel or Maël make it out with their souls intact. They’re young right now, so even though Maël is clearly seeped in the dark longer than Thurel, I’d like to hope they might somehow make it out. Currently, the school appears to cater to the filthy rich, corrupted, and abusive alike. I’d have to see what happens next. 

So for now, I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a strange, but intriguing, book which takes place at a boarding college for boys in France. Thurel is a young man from a comfortable background, having lived with his grandparents after the death of his parents, then his grandmother, finally moving on to Sainte-Laurent Boarding College after graduation. Both Thurel’s father and grandfather had attended the school in their youth, and Thurel is hoping for something more in his life by attending the school. It is in his second year he receives an invitation to an exclusive organization, all after an odd meeting in which he had signed a Non-Disclosure agreement (NDA). When he shows up at the appointed time, nothing is as he expected. He will need to participate in The Wicked Chase in order to earn his place. Little does he know what is in store for him as part of a centuries old initiation.

Information is slowly learned as Thurel is trying to avoid his pursuer in the silver mask as he flees through the forest, still unclear why he is here. The story is fast-paced with the reader getting more clues but still not a lot of understanding until quite far into the book, and all questions still aren’t answered by the conclusion of this one. Hopefully more will be learned in the second book. The blurb speaks to four novellas to feature four different couples, so all might not be clear until book four.

Interesting characters and a unique test and initiation for a vaguely understood “fraternity” with some old but unusual traditions. Looking forward to learning more with future books.

the chase is too long and the characterization is murky

The chase, which is to say reading one main character’s POV as he runs through the woods with barely even a glimpse of the other MC, is like 40% of the book. I realize a lot of it is setting up scenes for future books but meh. I not reading those yet. I’m reading this book about these characters. Or I would like to be.

It’s waaaay too up in the characters’ heads, which inevitably become repetitive, and I just cannot figure out T’s motivations. He doesn’t seem to have any? Or maybe too many. He wants to make his dead relatives proud, I guess, but how joining this group would make them proud isn’t clear. He wants to do something with his life but he clearly states they he *chooses* to stay in the background of life, with football. He’s intrigued by the group but doesn’t actually read the forms he’s signing? Then why is he intrigued? What actually interested him in this? He just floats through life, from thought to thought, with little agency or frankly cares.

M is a little more consistent in his obsession, at least, even if that’s all he is.

There’s also some awkward prose, awkward or inaccurate descriptions (he unbuttoned his tank top? Who wears tank tops with buttons? What does a button-up tank top even look like??) and people doing things they seem anatomically improbable (if a man is laying in a tub and you stand up while gripping his balls, you are going to tip over and fall into the tub, at worst, or just be bent over super awkwardly, at best).

Я розумію, що це новела до основної серії і типу ми багато вже чогось знаємо та розуміємо про всесвіт та героїв. Але це якось...все-одно недостатньо.
Як на мене, якщо краще попрацювати і додати букв цій історії, то можна було б отримати цікаву книжку з моторошною атмосферою і гарячим сексом (я навіть сказала б на межі із забороненим та збоченим 🙈). А так... слабенько.



ТУТ СПОЙЛЕР
Історія про таємне братство, що об'єднує багатих привілейованих людей різних поколінь. Але в цій серії акцент робиться на елітному коледжі та хлопцях років 18-22. І основа братства це гроші, влада та сексуальні збочення.
І коли йде відбір нових членів (в прямому і переносному значені 😂) до братства, то влаштовується випробування. Таким чином є той кого обрали (жертва, новий член братства) і той хто обрав (хижак, діючий член братства). І от в ніч посвяти хижак полює на жертву. А коли наздоганяє, то вчиняє з жертвою як захоче. Ну і як ви розумієте, здебільшого це секс, бажано збоченний. Бо ж сумно та нудно багатим хлопчикам живеться. Але посвята не посвята якщо вона проходить не на очах у всіх членів братства 😂
І тут в головного героя прям джентльмен прокинувся, бо він готовий всім показувати свого нового улюбленця на повідку і в усяких компроментуючих позах, але руками чіпати його нізя 😂
Ну і як ви розумієте, то все не просто так, то любов. Так так саме вона. Що дарма наш хижак так довго мріяв про свого улюбленця на повідку. Ні! Тож тепер у них лямур і вони будуть пізнавати душі одне одного.
Любов та оргії врятують світ 😂

If you love the world of The Initiation Series featuring the Alpha Fraternarii Brotherhood where anything happens, and I do mean anything, then you’ll definitely love these novellas about the Wicked Chase. “Collared” may be a novella, but it’s filled with suspense, spice, and sweetness. If you’re not familiar with this world, I would recommend checking out the triggers before reading.

OMG I really do feel like I was just taken on the ride of my life and completely blown away in all the best ways . Collared by Lola Malone is easily one of the best books I’ve read this year . She truly nailed it once again . So I’m not typically someone who enjoys reading novellas by any means . That being said anything written by Lola really is a no brained . Collared is the first installment in the wicked chase series as well as a MM primal Play Novella ) and to say that I was hooked from page one would without a doubt be a humongous understatement. Add into that the wonderfully written characters, the emotionally charged storyline that has the ability to leave you utterly speechless, have you yelling outta pure frustration, make you smile , laugh and sob like a baby not to mention keep you rooting so freaking hard , the mystery, the secrets, the twists and turns, the tragedy, the love , the passion, the oh so steamy moments, the revenge, the family and friendships . Well you have a story that is perfection absolute perfection. I can guarantee omcr you start there is no way you’ll be getting any sleep at all . Lola has once again hit another home run right outta the ballpark. To be it simply . IM OBSESSED with what I can already tell will be a unforgettable and unputdownable new series . 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

I was super interested in the book after reading the description of it, because it seemed a little like a stalker book. Which in a way it is, but it also has a hunter & pray vibe to it as well. I'm a huge fan of both of those tropes and it kept me hooked to the plot of the story. It is dual POV, though its more in one characters POV, with some of the other main characters POV. I'm looking forward to reading the other books, because i'm hoping it will be about the other three participants.

Thurel is part of the new money section ay his all boys boarding school, all he wants to do is do something good with his life and make his late parents and Grandad proud of him. Which is why he signs the contract without reading the full contract and what is included, so when he's being hunted down by someone in a sliver mask whilst trying not to be eliminated like the other participants, Thurel realises he doesn't actually know what he signed up for.

Maël picked Thurel for the one he wanted to hunt, having been interested in the guy since he joined the school and wanting him to become his. Though even Maël didn't expect Thurel to be so inexperienced and not have a clue what he signed up for, but Maël guides him through everything and make Thurel his.

While Thurel discovers his hidden pleasures, Mael indulges in his cravings and adoration in taking care of his newly found treasure. The chemistry, the trust between these two is nothing but dazzling and only the beginning of their new adventures.🔥

Collared, is nothing but a steaming hot novella, and I'm looking forward to the next ones in this series!

I absolutely adored reading this. This was another amazing installment to the series, so happy we're getting more novellas set in the world of Saint-Laurent Boarding College for Boys!!

I also love that we see the previous couples in this book too, and now Maël and Thurel have my heart too. Like any other book that Lola writes, this was amazingly writter, I just LOVE her way of writing.

While reading I could relate to Thurel and being tired of just being okay, being average after trying so hard. He wants to end that and do something exciting, so he signs an NDA without reading the details, let the initiations begin.

Guys have always been... forbidden fruit.

I love that even though this is a novella, it's short but the relationship between Maël and Thurel our MCs is still complex and the chemistry, the dynamic between the two was incredible.

This is an amazing novella, sweet, steamy and hot with some plot. If you love the world of The Initiation Series featuring the Alpha Fraternarii Brotherhood then you'll definitely love these novellas about the Wicked Chase. I recommend checking out the triggers before reading if you are not yet familiar with this world.

Collared took everything I adored about Crown of Disguise and packed it into a faster, even spicier read. The vivid depiction of a gothic, alluring dark academia setting is still present, with all the mystery and intrigue we've come to love from the Saint-Laurent Boarding College.

I love that even with its shorter length, the relationship between the MCs is still nuanced and complex, with an element of tenderness in addition to Mael's possessiveness and need for control. Collared had all the delicious spice I expected from an installment in the Alpha Fraternarii universe but with a sweetness to Thurel and Mael's relationship that took me pleasantly by surprise. Their dynamic is the perfect mix of twisted and sweet, and even with the book being on the shorter side I feel like we got a perfectly satisfying conclusion for them.

The Gael and Dom cameo had me SHRIEKING. I don't know why it caught me off guard since Gael is a member of the Alpha Fraternarii as well, but I was beyond stoked to see them again.

The universe Lola Malone has built with the Initiation series and now The Wicked Chase is singular and addicting. I can't wait for the next chance to dive back in.

Collared proves once again that Lola has found her niche. This mysterious, heady, wicked chase of the Alpha Fraternarii was an insight into the brotherhood that I've been longing for. After reading Books 1 & 2, I was really intrigued with the mystery that is the Brotherhood. I wanted to know more! What makes them tick, other members, traditions, etc. Collared gives us more of a glimpse

This novella was short and packed full of wicked depravity and hella steam 🥵🥵 Thurel accepted the invitation, and the hunt begins! Our sweet Thurel just wants something different than the ordinary. He feels excited but a little apprehensive that someone "chose him." Maël & Thurel together are explosive. After some apprehension (which I find endearing but super hot), these two coming together were so sexy & gratifying. I am a sucker for possessiveness, and although this was a novella, there was no mistaking the possessiveness of Maël

I absolutely can't wait for more glimpses into the Alpha Fraternarii in upcoming novellas in the Wicked Chase series

These two are perfect. You have a possessive elite that will get whatever he wants. Then you have a sweet innocent person trying to find his place in the world. You have a chase between predator and prey. I like that Maël wants Thurel The first time he saw him. After that, he’s always watching him and knows everything about him. The fact that he’s a gentle lover and says sweet things is amazing. Thurel is soft character trying to find himself in the world of elites. He enters the Chase because he wants to be someone. At first, he hates it, then running he’s face with the silver mask person and he realizes how much he wants it. I like the fact that Thurel wants to give up control to someone else and help him make his decisions. They both of them together are great because you can tell that they mean so much to each other after one night together. The fact that these two crave one another is also very amazing because you can see the connection grow stronger. The overall novella was amazing. I really enjoyed reading it. I cannot wait to read more about Saint-Laurent Boarding College for boys and the secret society that they have within the school.
