Not That Kind of Witch: A M/F Contemporary Steamy Romance Novel

Rate this book
Can Willow let go of her fears and begin living her life again, or will her issues get the better of her?

Willow Green is having a hard time of it. Losing her job at the beginning of the pandemic and her elderly grandmother’s ‘clinically vulnerable’ status have resulted in her becoming housebound. While her entrepreneurial, hard-working spirit and the knowledge passed down through generations of green witches in her family mean she has solved her employment problem, her fear of going out, of allowing the dreaded virus into the house she shares with her grandmother, is far from resolved. In fact, it seems worse than ever.

That is, until Joe Lane comes along. The handsome care worker turned delivery driver does Willow a favour, gaining her attention and reluctant admiration. He’s got plenty of baggage of his own, but he also has the skills and temperament to help her with her problem—and he really seems to care.

The question is, will she let him get close enough to try?

Not That Kind of Witch is a standalone M/F steamy contemporary romance.

First off I have a confession. This book means a lot to me, you see Buttons was my beloved kitty cat and when we lost her last year my family was devastated.

Lucy asked if she could immortalise her in a story, I asked the family and they loved the idea, so thank you Lucy, you have done Buttons proud.

Back to the story and the humans! Willow is still living under covid rules to protect vulnerable Grandmother. When a delivery driver comes into their lives he slowly starts to change their lives. Taking that first step back into the post pandemic world takes bravery and so does telling Joe who, and what, Willow and her grandmother are.

A sweet & steamy story based in our new world.
Copy received from author, however my review is given freely and honestly.

This book I couldn’t put down.

If you are looking for a cozy witchy romance then this is right up your lane.. throw in a little bit a spice and all things that are nice and this is your book.

Follows the struggles of Willow and her Grandma (who reminded me very much of my late Nan) after going through the pandemic. A chance meeting of handsome delivery driver by the name of Joe and the impact of meeting the right person at the right time.
With the added benefit of Buttons the mostly black cat

Will definitely be reading more of Lucy’s books

I loved this story. I read it in one go while I was sunbathing and it was perfect. A little bit steamy and a lot romantic in exactly the right measure. The characters felt real and I really enjoyed their storyline. Definitely recommend reading this

Blooming epic

The whole story had me captured. I was lucky enough to purchase this book on a whim at a book convention in Northampton and I was bit skeptical but I most certainly was NOT disappointed. From the first 5 pages I was hooked and I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to bed not knowing the ending.

Was it nice to read a book that was closer to my age range and still be a little racy omg yes a thousand times yes.

There is nothing wrong with a little erotica at advanced ages and I loved all four characters (buttons totally counts as a main character). It was relevant and a must read for anyone.

Truly I loved it; so I hope there will be a few sequel hint hint I need answers.

Loved every page

Steamy and Heartfelt
This contemporary romance is both steamy and heartfelt. It takes place during what is now the ‘new normal’ for many households who are doing what they can to protect their clinically vulnerable loved ones from the Covid pandemic. Willow is devoted to her grandmother and is lucky enough to be able to work from home, drawing on her innate abilities inherent within her bloodline. Although safe from the virus within their home, their world and life experiences have shrunk considerably.

I loved how Willow’s meeting with Joe, a delivery driver, acts as a catalyst, offering up the possibility of changing their lives and his own for the better. The journey the couple embark on, egged on by Willow’s grandmother and the adorable cat Buttons, is a delightfully uplifting read; written sensitively, with humour and love and culminating in some sexy scenes. Yet can Willow overcome her fears of the outside world and learn to live again? And will Joe, a man with his own baggage, accept Willow and her grandmother’s special abilities?

I enjoyed Willow’s strength as she strives to overcome her fears and connect with Joe whilst continuing to protect her grandmother. Joe and Willow are perfect for each other, and I enjoyed how their relationship slowly blooms from friendship to something more.

All in all an uplifting, steamy and romantic read which references the impact of the pandemic on our lives and the importance of family, friendship and love. Please note, a copy of this book was given to me by the author and I am voluntarily posting an honest review.

About 3.5 stars. During Covid lockdown, I lived with vulnerable family members so I could relate to needing to be overly cautious during that time and afterwards.

The book did have useful advice and routines that could be applied by anyone. Willow and Joe were both very mindful and effective in communication. They both talked through their traumas and feelings very maturely. Joe was super sweet and understanding. The focus was more on Willow's progress than Joe. I did wish for an epilogue or bonus short story.

I'm all for a couple going all the way in intimate scenes, but the author really knew how to write satisfying kissing/making out moments. When they finally did get it on, I was hoping it would have been longer. It was sweet and romantic, but there was so much building up to the sex so of course I was expecting more dedicated pages.

Don't expect any summoning of magic and paranormal stuff. Willow was a 'real world' green witch.
Sometimes the book felt like "Slice of Life" genre because there were detailed explanations of tea preparation, refilling a bird feeder, etc. At times I enjoyed it, and other times it did drag on.

Buttons was great. She was written by someone who surely understands cats.

I looked at the author's other books, and I'm uncertain which one I would read next. Those books seem very different from this book.

The writing isn't awful, but having gone through only two chapters, I found that I lost interest.

I expect a hook in the early stages of the book to make me want to read it, and we are essentially treated to a long, drawn out, introspective review of a parcel being delivered, looking for a sign in the bushes, making tea for Grandma and some chatter between the two. There's nothing necessarily wrong with all of those things, but they don't warrant as much on page time as they got, so things got boring pretty quickly and I found that I didn't really care to see where the author wanted to take this story.

Some strong editing and pruning to keep things flowing with the plot is definitely needed before this ends up seeing more readers.

A sweet post-pandemic romance.

It's a post-pandemic world but Willow Green and her grandmother are still living as hostages to the fears it caused. An unexpected encounter with a delivery driver has Willow rethinking her current lifestyle much to her grandmother’s liking.

Joe and Willow seem like actual people. they aren't perfect physical specimens - they are believable. The book vividly portrays what life was like during and after the Covid pandemic. I enjoyed how the three lives began opening up and the blossoming romance between Joe and Willow. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I really struggled getting into this one. I liked the characters and their back stories. But I found the interactions overall very boring. Even the ending was lack luster. Overall, not my type of story. *I recevied an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This is an okay read, but drags on with mundane dialogue and information. This was not my kind of book, but others may enjoy it. I voluntarily read a free copy and this is my honest review.

A sweet romance of two people who learned to overcome their fears and get a second chance to find love. Quirky, funny characters for an enjoyable read.
