Midlife Is Murder #2

A Spirited Double

Rate this book
Welcome to Bookend Bay where the coffee is spiced, the ghosts are cheeky, and midlife is murder. An exorcism gone wrong.
An unfathomable ghostly encounter…
…and a web of corruption only she can stop. Recently divorced and empty nested, Quinn has enough on her hands trying to win a culinary contest to put her new cafe on the map. One cordial short of an entry, she doesn’t have time to help her new renter exorcise an evil spirit from her house. And then she finds the woman’s body face down in her kitchen. Who killed her tenant? Why is a good friend suddenly avoiding her? And why is her brother not returning her calls? With the help of her best friend, Quinn discovers murder isn’t the only ill deed happening in the small town of Bookend Bay. She soon fears the truth may destroy the people she loves most. Things go from bad to worse when a spirited visitor invades her life. Unlike any ghost she’s met before, its shocking allegation throws Quinn into a panic that will forever change her life. You’ll love this paranormal, cozy mystery because the twists and turns will keep you guessing. And because no one expects midlife to be murder. Get it now.

About the author

Clare Lockhart

42 books58 followers
Clare Lockhart writes light-hearted, paranormal, cozy mysteries featuring middle-aged sleuths who are going through a few changes. Some are welcome (freedom to live the dream) and some not so much (supernatural abilities and a rash of murders).

If you like reading about best friends who find themselves in the odd pickle, twisty murder plots, and cheeky, paranormal visitors, then you’re in the right place.

Clare lives in a small town, a stone’s throw from Lake Ontario, in Canada, and has recently taken up sailing with her partner John. Sailing has to be one of her most challenging and rewarding life experiences. She loves to read, of course, travel and is a bit of a foodie.

Clare comes by her interest in the paranormal honestly. Her dad loved this stuff, so it was natural for her to believe there was more to our world than we perceive. Therefore, you may find a ghost, a psychic witch, and even a parallel universe in her stories.

She also writes time travel romance under the pen name Sharon Clare.

A Spirited Double: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery Book 2 (stars 4.6)

Definitely complicated mystery and takes the whole story to explain the paranormal relationship of twin ghosts. I had never heard of twin ghosts before. I won't explain all the complicated relationships there are within a family. Very satisfying reading!

Paranormal mystery

This is a second book in the series and it starts with a young woman who thinks Quinn is possessed. Then Violet is murdered and on goes the investigation from there. Several suspects emerge over the course of the story. There is a small element of the paranormal and the resulting ending was not what I expected.

Amazing Addition

An amazing addition to an amazing series. As with the first book I read this one had me hooked from the start. The suspense and twists had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't find it in me to put it down until I finished it. Wonderful characters and a fascinating storyline. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Highly recommend reading.

A Spirited Double - book 2

A fun and different take on a cozy mystery. A woman whose housemate was murdered meets her own Spirit Double. The two of them solve the murder and begin to learn about their shared life.
A handful of minor editing errors were noted.
I recommend this story to those who enjoy cozy mysteries and clean language.

Good clean spirited fun

A murder mystery/mid-life crisis/newly divorced/new business owner romp with fun spirits. The murder gets solved with the help of a friendly, often clueless spirit that is a doppelgänger for the main character. Definitely a fun read.

An OCD twin appears

After her tenant is murdered, the heroine has a double, who can be seen by some people but not everyone. She also resolves the murder.

A decent cozy mystery. Extreme Diet Culture Trigger Warning for the series. Diet Culture misinformation is rampant in the book. If you are not newly into recovery, the series does have a woman growing as she recovers from an unexpected divorce.
