If you read 'Behind the Mask', did you wonder what happened to the undercover detective we knew as Adam? And wonder what would happen to Daisy? If you read 'Cruel Deceptions' did you wonder what would happen with Cessy and Sutton Court? In this book, your questions are answered.
A man leaves prison with an assassination contract he doesn’t want.
In the Herefordshire village of Sutton-on-Wye, Cessy Milton is still reeling from the shock of her husband’s suicide. In Norwich, Robert Brooks is still missing his wife, Valerie, murdered by Daisy Roper’s brutal ex-husband, Gary. Daisy is about to have her missing lover’s baby.
The Consequences of the actions of others are real. Even more so, are the consequences of going against orders, as undercover detective, Alan Hunter, is to discover. Will DCI Dan Cooke and his team be in time to save the lives of three people?
Jeanette Taylor Ford grew up in Cromer, Norfolk, moved to Hereford in 1968. Now lives not far from Nottingham. She has six children, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. A compulsive teller of tales, she mostly writes in the genre of the paranormal but sometimes digresses into other subjects, stories for children, short stories and the occasional poem.
Thread points from the last couple of books come to the fore once more and are resolved in the thrilling conclusion to the River View Mysteries. Adam whose real name is Alan is still in hiding and Daisy is missing him terribly. Especially as she now has a baby of whom Alan is the father off. Very soon Alan and Daisy reunite and they promise to stay together forever. However that doesn’t prove easy as there are still powerful people hunting for Alan and they have recruited someone who has a surprising connection to another person living in Sutton on Wye. When Daisy is kidnapped, Cooke, Grant and Lucy and the residents of Sutton on Wye band together to get her back but it might all be too late for one member. This was a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the series but I am still sad that it has ended. There was a joke in the story that the village was a bit like Midsomer out of Midsomer Murders. That’s still going strong so I can’t see why River View can’t. If it’s not broken don’t fix it is what I say. Plus I can visualise potential for at least two spin offs.
Oh my word , what a finale to a great series ( or is it ?) , it was great catching up with the village and people in it , and so many twists and turns and bumps in the road! I may be reading the whole series again to refresh my memory on who was who lol. Thank-you jeanette throughly worth reading the whole series .
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. The character development and interactions have been a pleasure to experience. As I finished the final sentence I couldn't be feel a little sad that the series had come to an end. Wonderful book and series.
