2.5 🧀🧀🐰🐰Stars
The prologue started out strong with the h (Sophie) catching her long-term BF turned husband (Liam) cheating on her with a client. She is devastated, and I was down for that. YUM. At first, I was picking up some Replacing My Ex vibes with how things were shaking out. BUT I quickly realized that I wasn’t going to get crazy OW drama from the pregnant homewrecker. Sigh.

Soon she meets the local somewhat recently widowed single father sexy firefighter (Hugh) and sparks are flying, so I started rubbing my hands together for some good old grumpy “you’re not my wife” second best angst or "I love you but my kid hates you" drama, BUT Hugh’s not grumpy or mean, and his kid is really sweet and looking for a mommy.

So, basically this is pretty sweet with a fair amount of friendly secondary character filler. Everyone and I mean everyone is totally fine with Hugh and Sophie taking their time strolling down the love trail with very little conflict or drama.

BUT It is CHEESY, so cheesy at times that it might get too cheesy for some readers. Personally, I’m not an emotional gal, so all the crying and cutesy Hughie/Acey started to grate on me. I’m not saying dudes can’t be emotional, it just felt very melodramatic. Like when Ace is falling to his knees sobbing in his hands howling in agony; these are professional first responders. They are trained to keep their shit together.

Or this…

I saw the moment the realisation hit him that I was awake, his face crumpled, thick tears streaked down his cheeks and settling in his overgrown beard as he heaved giant sobs into his hands. “Hughie come here baby,”

Bottom Line- This was a 2.5 for me, but I don’t LOVE super swoony/super fluffy romances. I love drama, so this was a smidge too tame for me, but that’s a Jac thing. It’s available on KU.

✨ARC Review✨

I just want to start this review by pointing out that romance is not a genre I’m accustomed to reading, and I’ve only recently started to branch out and figure out which tropes I like.

That being said, I don’t think I was the intended audience for this novel. If small town, single dad, soulmate, insta love vibes are your thing, then this book is absolutely for you! I’ve learned that I’m not so much into these tropes - as a big fan of enemies to lovers, I should have probably seen this coming, but as I said, I’m trying to branch out.

The author deals with some sensitive subjects within this book and they are definitely handled with care. Make sure you read the trigger warnings because even though I was prepared, there was a particular scene I wasn’t entirely comfortable reading.

At its core, the story is lovely; A firefighter struggling to move on after the death of his wife and a woman trying to find herself after her cheating spouse destroys their marriage, finding each other in a cosy small town setting with a cast of supportive friends.

I do wish that there had been more details about the town. I like descriptive settings and I wasn’t quite able to fully immerse myself in the story because I wasn’t even sure where in the world Meadowside was (I’m assuming England, but I don’t think this was actually stated). Things also felt a bit rushed and repetitive at times, and there were a few small time jumps which made me feel like I was only getting snapshots of the story.

Again, this isn’t my preferred genre or tropes. I stepped out of my comfort zone with this read, so if the plot or any of the above mentioned tropes appeal to you, please do give this book from a brand new (and lovely) author a chance!

Thank you so much to C. Smith for the ARC!

This book should have been "An ode to Grace"
I don't know why author tends to make dead person so alive through every page of the story.
I get it the person loved and is loved but to do everything with respect to the dead women is not right.
The h seemed to thrive on making the H happy through the gestures she does for the dead wife and basically he loves her for it only.
Every thought of grace not liking it, grace will not be happy, grace i am guilty , puhlezzz. Grow up.
I am sorry but there is nothing to recommend in here and it was ok.

Very Emotional

Sophie finds out some recasting news and end up leaving her husband. She moves to quiet little town and meets Hugh a widower with a small daughter.

The group of friends were fantastic. Loved Mitch and Trudie. Loved Hugh and his daughter. But, boy this book had me in tears and so did the letters.

If a hallmark film was a book. This would be that book. It’s easy to read, it's fast-paced, it’s simple, with a bit of drama & a lot of love. It is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but not drastic. You feel sorry for the MFC at first, then you ask yourself, why did she never ask questions regarding the husband? As I know, I certainly would have. So then you're annoyed & feel she was naive, but then you're proud of her, then feel sorry for her, then happy, then worried & screaming “it better not end that way”, then back to being happy.

The relationship is cute. The way it starts, the way it progresses; it's just all so very cute with a few hot scenes thrown in as well. It is a good read if you really enjoy fluffy romance. It is not my go-to genre & for me. Despite saying that, I did actually enjoy reading this book. So, maybe I need to die down on the dark romance & pick up a few more fluffy ones.

I think I've tainted myself with dark books & now find such books somewhat boring unless they pack some hidden punch. However, this did have that little punch which I could sense in my bones was coming from the first text message. It was a shock to see a character go from being just a normal person to someone rather disturbed over a divorce. But I was here for that. But, I feel it was just still too easy. Again, this is my own problem & not the book or writing.

Even though these books aren’t my usual go-to genre, this series has completely changed me, so much that I’ve come back for a reread of the whole series after reading the latest instalment. Definitely a solid, enjoyable read!

Did I just find my new favourite author. Yes. Yes I did! Omg this was adorable and I’m so excited to read the next books for this series!

I absolutely loved everything about this book! The author wrote it so well. One minute had me crying, the next minute I was laughing and let’s not forgot the shocking jaw dropping scenes!

Not only was it romance but it had some drama and action! And lots of hot fireman 😉 Sophia who is our main girl was honestly so relatable. She was just really nice character to read especially the ways she interacted with all the other characters especially lucie!

Lucie was overall the best character and no one can disagree. She’s so adorable, cute and sassy and it was nice how she helped everyone without even realising her affect on people.

Then there’s Hugh 🤭 defo a new book boyfriend! He was really struggling with the lose of his wife but he overcomes those emotions of fears and guilt with the help of all his friends. He was just such a good character, I can’t even explain it without spoiling some of the book.

This book was so good! The drama was so unexpected but placed really well within the plot. It didn’t feel rushed or misplaced or like it was just thrown in there because the author ran out ideas. I loved all of it. Especially how the main character was an author which was really cool. You don’t see many main characters being authors!

Lost and Found debut by novel by C. Smith, release date 22nd of April 2024. 4.5 stars!

The books shares the story of Sophie and Hugh switching between their viewpoints. Sophie has faced the ultimate betrayal. Her childhood sweetheart and husband of 15 years Liam has not only cheated on her but got the other woman pregnant! Liam knew how much Sophie wanted a baby. They had been trying for years with no success. This betrayal leaves Sophie bereft, broken and lost. She leaves with only some clothes and her unpublished books to start over.

Hugh has lost the love of his life and the mother of his child. He doesn't think he can ever find love again as his heart will always belong to his late wife, Grace. Hugh focuses on being the best father he can be to their beautiful daughter Lucie.

Sophie and Hugh find each other as they try to come to terms with their own heartbreak and loss.

This book made me feel all the emotions sadness, anger, happiness, and joy. It is a beautiful story of second chances, forgiveness, and grief, and believe me when I say get ready to cry a few times!

There is also some spice, and I don't think I'll ever view a Christmas tree farm quite the same again!

C. Smith wrote the characters with love, and this really comes across in her writing. She made me love all the residents of Meadoside and wish I lived there. This is not my usual go-to genre, but I'm here for it and looking forward to the next book in the series. This was a great debut. Thank you so much to the author for providing a free copy for an honest review.

Second chance at love

“If life has taught me anything it’s to hold on to the good moments, treasure them in your heart forever and keep them close. We have to go through the hard times to teach us how to appreciate the good. Grief will always be there, but it’s a badge of honour. It means that we loved someone enough that they left little scars on our hearts. We will always miss them, but it’s ok to set them free and find love and light in our lives again”

“He really did have me, in every single sense of the world. He had my heart, he had my soul, he had my body and he had my forever “

I don’t even know where to start. C.Smith is a new author to me and when I saw this book as a teaser on instagram I just knew it was one to read! And I’m so glad that I did!
I read this book the same day it came out, in one sitting (I stayed up late to finish it) And had to do a review on it next day!

First let’s start with Hugh. Oh….my heart broke for this man 💔 (I’m all too familiar with the pain of losing someone you love, so the grief in this book I understood)
Hugh loved his wife Grace with everything he had and he lost her too soon, and you felt that as you read the story, it hurt to read his turmoil over his love for Sophie. Because he really did love Sophie from the moment he saw her.

And then there’s Sophie…. Oh I just wanted to wrap her up in a hug! I mean what she went through in this book, was agonising but she fought! And I just loved how patient she was with Hugh and how she loved Lucie like she was her own from the beginning! But throughout I’m so glad that she got her happy ever after, and everything she deserved 💕

Overall this book was beautifully written and absolutely worth reading! I will definitely be reading the rest in the series when they come out! And also getting myself a paperback copy ASAP 😍

Lost and Found by @c.smith_books

Oh. My. God.

This was a very emotional read. I cried a lot. Happy tears may I add. I could not put this book down, it got to the point where I couldn’t sleep as I needed to read on!!

The part about Grace was so relatable. It made me think of my Nana 😢😢.

Hugh had my heart from the beginning and I’m so happy for him and Sophie! Couldn’t be any more perfect! Little Lucie is just adorable, I wish my kids were like her 🤣.

Fantastically written and very moving storyline and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

A huge congratulations to @c.smith_books for an amazing read! I can’t wait to read stripped and ARC Found and Flirty!

If you haven’t read this yet, please read it or add it to your TBR, you will not want to put this down!!!

I’m am so grateful I was given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC.

This book swept me away on an unforgettable emotional rollercoaster, where laughter, tears, and unexpected surprises were woven seamlessly into its pages. From the very first chapter, I was engrossed, unable to put it down until the final word.

What truly resonated with me was the delicate handling of heavy themes with a touch of grace and beauty. As I delved deeper into the lives of the characters, they felt less like fictional creations and more like cherished companions, their struggles and triumphs becoming intertwined with my own.

The author’s descriptive prose painted vivid scenes in my mind, each word evoking a sense of place and atmosphere that made the story come alive. And while there were moments that caught me off guard, they only served to add layers of complexity to an already rich narrative tapestry.

In essence, “Lost and Found” isn’t just a novel; it’s a journey—a journey of self-discovery, love, and redemption that resonates deeply with the human experience. Its title serves as a poignant reminder that within life’s twists and turns, there is always the possibility of finding oneself amidst the chaos.

Finishing with one of my favourite quotes from this book: “I think I’ve loved her since the very first moment I laid eyes on her, she’s sweet and beautiful and so amazing with Lucie. I know you’re watching us from up there in heaven, I still feel you with me everyday”.

Lost and Found- C. Smith~ Book review. My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⚠️may contain spoilers ⚠️
Wow! This. Book. I don’t think I’ve actually EVER sobbed at a book this hard 🥲. Please read the triggers beforehand ❤️ ( I will say that the author wrote extremely respectfully and with care when writing about these topics). This book follows Sophie and Hugh, recently lost their high school lovers but under totally different circumstances. Hughes’ story of him losing his wife was written emotionally and we went on a journey of his grief and then being able to find love again ❤️ it actually really reminded me of someone close to me in my own life as I watched them go through something very similar through recent years and I think that’s why I got really emotional! When you are reading from his POV, it feels so real, and I can honestly say it was sad but beautiful 🥺. Then you have Sophie… I really really loved her character and she gets out of a horrible, emotionally abusive relationship and then finds herself again! It’s hard not to give too much away as this book was very emotional and I wanna talk about it more!

Lost & Found- C. Smith ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

It did not take me long to get into this book at all. It was quick paced which I liked and there was always something going on. It was an easy storyline to follow and I could imagine how the scenes would look clearly in my head whilst reading. I loved all of the characters aswell, they were all extremely likeable and I felt warm inside at many nice and cute bits. At some points of the book I was open mouthed in shock as I really didn't think something like this was even possible. (I am relating to one particular part but don't want to go into detail as people need to read it for themselves 🤐☺️)

There are quite alot of spicy scenes and
I definitely didn't expect some of them but I love spice so wasn't phased by these at all. By 50% through this book I didn't want to put it down and ended up reading about 95% of this book in two nights.

I believe in signs so the 🦋 part was beautiful and made me relive my own special moment similar to that.
This book was filled with beautiful letters that were so emotional they had me a couple of times. I love the background as to why the book is called Lost and Found.

I appreciated that this book had an Epilogue and of course I read the extended Epilogue too ☺️

This was a beautiful story that really took you on a rollercoaster of emotions – laughter, anger, tears and heart-warming joy.

The story follows Sophie and Hugh two people trying to navigate life after heartbreak and loss. Sophie is a shy, loving and caring woman just trying to find her confidence and purpose in the world. Hugh is a charming, dirty talking, single dad trying to put himself back together. I loved the journey they both went on together in helping each other heal. Plus, the relationship they had with Hugh’s daughter Lucie was just so special – I loved the three of them together.

I loved the dynamic of their relationship and how vulnerable they were with each other, neither judging the other. The spice was hot, I wasn’t expecting those scenes to be so good given the topic of the story but hell these were good and there were plenty of them!

The book handled some very heavy themes but did so in such a delicate way, was a very raw and emotional storyline but told in a very touching and beautiful way.

Can’t wait to read more about the other couple in the gang.

How do you write a review, when you are still thinking about the book?

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. At one moment I was so angry, then sad and the next minute I was excited and happy. The story also made me sob a few times and not only because it was extremely sad at times, but because some moments were full of love and happiness.

Hugh and Sophie went through a very difficult time in their lives and thanks to the fate, they managed to bump into each other and they instantly felt some type of a connection.

The relationship progressed really well, but not too fast and they had some obstacles to overcome in order to be happy together.

Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put the book down.

Please, read the trigger warnings before you start reading this book.

I am looking forward to the author’s next book!

Hold on tight, because l've just read an incredible novella that has left me craving for more! @c.smith_books has truly outdone herself , not only in terms of her writing style, but also in her ability to create such emotionally-charged scenes that had me in tears.
The characters in this book are so dynamic and well-crafted that I couldn't help but get attached to them .Sophie and Hugh have both gone through some tough times, but together they find solace. Sophie may be shy, but she is a passionate, nurturing, and loving individual who doesn't see her true worth.
Hugh, on the other hand, is a tough firefighter who knows how to communicate his emotions with his loved ones. He's like a golden retriever that way!
This is just the first book in a fantastic series, and I can't stress enough how much you need to read it!
The pacing is spot-on, the spice level is perfect, and I just can't get enough of these characters. If you're looking for a thrilling read that will leave you wanting more, this is it!

Sophie's dream is to have children, become an author and open her own store but when her husband betrays her in the most heartbreaking way , Sophie leaves and doesn't stop driving till she find herself in a small town with a new job and a place to live and start over. Hugh the sexy ,tattooed, tall firefighter who is slowing going through grieving his late wife and being a single father to his daughter Lucie. When one day they meet and instantly feel a connection and attraction to one another. Birthday parties, date nights, phycho ex husband, fertility, fire and HEA this book has it all and i loved every minute of it. I connected with Sophie on a deep level and shed a few tears throughtout this story. I loved all the characters and can't wait to read more in this series.

I absolutely loved lost and found. It is definitely a new comfort blanket for me. everything about this was chefs 😚. I love how Sophie has the courage to leave her husband after 10 years and move to a new city and find Hugh and lucie! Lucie is such a sweet little girl that makes your heart burst. I hate Liam how can someone cheat, get someone else pregnant all while drugging your wife with contraception to stop her getting pregnant and then come crawling back and break into her house just to try r*pe her! I’m so glad Sophie and Hugh got their happy ending! Thank you Chrissie for an amazing book I can’t wait to see what you write in the future!

Easiest 5⭐️ read of 2024. I cried way too much throughout this gorgeous story. Chrissie Smith, your book has broke me but I am beyond exciting for the next one in this series ❤️

I recommend everyone reads this book but definitely check your trigger warnings beforehand.

Sophie is a 32 year-old married woman who finds out her husband of ten years has been having an affair and has gotten his mistress pregnant. She gets the hell out of there and moves to a little town called Meadowside where she falls head over heels for the local hot firefighter and his beautiful little girl. Hugh unfortunately lost his wife a few years back and struggles to get over the guilt over moving on.

After a lot of ups and downs for them both, could this be the second chance they both deserve.

This was a very well written romantic love story that delivered a gut punch to my heart in the begining. The theme of new found love after the cheating ex gets another woman pregnant and loves you has me on the edge of my seat hoping the fmc gets her happily ever after. Yes, the mmc seems too sweet at times that their love story seemed sappy but there were additional scenes of drama to cut through the sweetness.

Received as an ARC in return for my honest review.

🪷 Friends to lovers
🪷 Single Dad
🪷 Love after loss

Now this was a sweet book and a really good interpretation of love after loss from 2 different view points. We have Hugh who is navigating the world as a widower and single Dad to his adorable daughter Lucie (she was my favourite). And we also meet Sophia who is trying to come to terms with the betrayal of her cheating ex. When Hugh and Sophia find each other C Smith’s writing really comes to life. I loved the way they were both portrayed and the struggles they faced as a result of their past.

I’m excited to see where the rest of this world could go.

Thank you to C. Smith for the Arc Read.

Now I am torn with this as I loved certain aspects of the book.

I loved the characters and the way the story moved along.
I did find myself skipping over areas as I felt I'd already read the same thing from the characters multiple times.

That being said I cried so many times in this book.
The letters for me are what got me. They felt so personal and raw.

And who could not love Lucie what an amazingly written sassy little girl with so much love.

I enjoyed the bedroom sene between Sophie and Hugh I felt they were tastefully written but gave the right amount of spice.

I did feel that some parts were very predictable but that may just be me because I have read similar stories. This book is definitely a good holiday read to get yourself lost and maybe find yourself in the process, if like me you could really relate to some of the relationships personally within the book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐4 star read.

This was the second book I read by this author and I wasn’t disappointed! It wasn’t as good as Lost and found, which just blew my mind with its steam and love and everything. So this book is as spicy as the first one but instead of being like a heartfelt romance story this one was as heartbreaking as it was heart warming…

So first of all Mack! My heart! ❤️ 💔💔
Sweet sweet Mack… bullying is so terrible, kids can be so evil. My heart breaks for his bad self esteem… the character growth for him is wonderful, he evolve to this confident, badass guy with a filthy mouth and yet he has his core intact, he is vulnerable…

And Maisie… she is a badass that had a rough start in life, but it’s so sweet to see how she forms friendships and relations with all the girls and boys in this book. That is something that really shines through the book, the power of friendship and family.

I like the way this book spans over a long time, there is a then part and a now part, but even the now part moves on quickly so the story never gets dull….

So it’s safe to say that I loved this book! And if you haven’t read anything by this author, then get your ass to Amazon or where ever you buy books. They are worth it!

A beautiful read, heartwarming with some tearjerker scenes.
I fell in love with Sophie and Hugh and became part of their friendship group, having breakfast at Trudies and going to parties with them. I cried buckets at certain scenes and fell in love at others. C. Smith is a magician with her words and I can't wait to dive into the next book to learn about Mack and Maisie's story.
