This was a really fun and interesting psychological thriller.

This book gave me Woman in cabin 10 vibes by Ruth ware which I loved. The woman who went overboard incorporates one of my favourite tropes, the closed in setting. This book was really claustrophobic.

The writing was good, although I did notice a few typos.

This book had a heavy romance theme which isn't usually my type of thing but in this case it was fun and I enjoyed it.

The characters were kind of annoying but that's normally the case in thrillers, right?

I was defintely hooked from the start and I wanted to find out what happened in the end. Definitely a page turner.

It was a really easy book to read and it was great to read a thriller not set in America or the UK

Overall, I highly recommend

this follows agnes. agnes… is something else. agnes is going on a norwegian cruise along the coast of norway. and she is obsessed with finding herself a handsome, tall, norwegian man. agnes is from the us, but is half swedish and has lived in sweden for a while.

the story takes place mainly at this cruise ship. i totally love the vibe of it all! here she meets other interesting characters. like pamela, sandy, einar, maj and per. agnes meets pamela already at the train ride on her way to bergen, before they get on the cruise ship, and the two of them become good friends. agnes quickly falls in love with einar, the tall, handsome, norwegian man. there’s only one problem: einar falls in love with pamela, not agnes..

almost a year after this journey on the norwegian cruise, pamela’s body washes ashore. pamela died during the journey along the norwegian coast and now her daughter is visiting agnes to try and get some answers around what happened.

this was actually such a good book! i had so much fun reading it. one of the things i LOVED about this book was the pacing of the story. i like wetzel’s writing and i love how how her chapters are so short. it makes the book easy to read and the story easy to follow. the chapters always end in a interesting way that makes you want to continue reading. i felt that i was flying through this book. if you are in a reading slump and struggling with focusing on a story: this would be a great book to help you get out of that slump!

the story is set in norway, and the author has definitely done her reserarch about the stereotypics of this country. but being a norwegian, this part could feel a bit over the top at times. like the author was trying to squeeze in a bit too many “norwegian things”. BUT, if you are from another country and don’t know that much about norway, i guess that’s super interesting! it also makes sense since agnes is an american living in sweden, that she notices and comments all these “norwegian things”, but for me, it was kinda weird at times. but oh, well!

the other thing i really enjoyed about this book was the characters. i mean, i didn’t really like a lot of them, but they were super interesting to read about. wetzel describes them really well and they brought out a lot of emotions in me. i hated them, got annoyed by them, loved (some of) them, laughed at them, got freaked out by them, i thought they were funny and then they annoyed me again. i love when you feel all those things about the characters in a book!

also, this book made me laugh out loud a lot. it was pretty funny at times! you just had to roll your eyes at the characters and the things they did, ah.

now, the fact that someone dies in this book is definitely a big part of the plot, but at the same time, this book was for me mainly super interesting because of the characters and the psychology around all this. what makes people do the things they do? or don’t do? is anyone really just good or bad? THAT’S what makes it interesting. if you are looking for a super creepy, scary and gory thriller, this is not it. it’s not really SCARY. but if you want a really good book about kinda messed up people, interesting characters and the freaky things they do, then check this out. it’s so good!

4/5 stars!

The setting is a Norwegian cruise along the coast of Norway. Our protagonist is Agnes Andersson, who is a GEM. She is middle-aged, newly divorced, and she wants a man and a cruise bestie. All the things a cruise can solve. However, our gal Agnes is the type of woman that will make eye contact with someone and they just became her soulmate, or will have one good conversation with someone and they are her new best friend, everyone else be damned (looking at you Sandy). But she is just endearing enough that you root for her while having that second hand awk cringe basically the entire time. And I loved her.

Her alleged soulmate on said cruise is Einar, also newly single, and in her mind they are perfect for each other. Agnes tells Pamela (her new cruise bestie) all about him, however Einar clearly prefers Pamela, and she doesn’t seem to be honoring girl code by refusing his advances. One year later, Pamela’s body washes up ashore, and her daughter visits Agnes to discuss exactly what happened, and from there we get to revisit the trip from Agnes’ perspective.

I loved all of the characters (Agnes, Einar, Maj, Per, Sandy, Lars, and Svante), and the author was so great at describing the atmosphere I felt as if I was there with them. Being closed in on a ship gave us plenty of drama, we had mean girls, retaliation, Swedes vs. Norwegians, you name it. I also loved the day trips most of them took, and when Agnes and Maj didn’t go out, those two sat in the cafe and watched episodes of Pride and Prejudice on their laptops. I mean how great is that?

I am digressing a bit but this book sucked me in with the atmosphere, the characters, the romance, and the thriller component was just as shocking, even up until the very end. Agnes is not to be forgotten anytime soon.

A huge thank you to the author Florence Wetzel who sent me this book to review, I am very grateful as this is one I really enjoyed.

The Woman Who Went Overboard was the perfect winter book with the added bonus of a locked room setting. Oh and I’m totally sold on any Scandinavian thriller!

Agnes is an awkward middle aged woman, divorced and ready to fall in love. What better place to meet the man of your dreams than on a cruise along the coast of Norway? When Agnes finally spots the man of her dreams there’s just one problem, he prefers someone else.

Although this book is light on the thriller part, it was a great read. I liked the writing style, the short chapters and a good amount of well developed characters. Agnes is quite the character! You don’t like her but can’t help root for her and all of her cringe worthy moments. The cruise ship setting was perfect and you also got a bit of history along the way, plus a mysterious disappearance. Overall I was definitely a fan. This book was clever and fun and perfectly entertaining.

I love Florence Wetzel's writing style. I kept finding myself saying, 'ok just one more chapter for now' and then reading 100 more pages in one sitting. The characters and dialogue are just so completely engaging and I will never forget the yoga class scene. OMG Agnes!! Agnes is the wildest character. Like she is kind of awful, but also you love her, and she would be so much happier if she just got out of her own way, but she does manage to get whatever she wants so more power to her, you know?

I knew I was going to enjoy this book because I've seen so many amazing reviews, especially by some of my friends. However, I didn't realize just how much I was going to love it. I instantly got sucked into this story, this world, and even the cruise ship.

Agnes is going on a cruise, a cruise that anyone would be lucky to go on. However, she isn't there for the beautiful scenery or to relax, she has one thing on her mind and one thing only. Agnes is hoping to fall in love on the cruise and have her happily ever after. Unfortunately, Agnes has an addictive personality it seems, the first person she lays eyes on becomes her "cruise bestie", the first man she sees becomes her "soon to be husband". Agnes means well, but she can be a lot. Agnes has her cruise bestie and cruise husband, so what could go wrong? Since this is a thriller, it's easy to guess that literally everything is what goes wrong.

A woman is overboard and no one knows what happened. It isn't until a year later that the full story slowly starts to unravel and we find out exactly everything that happened on that cruise. SERIOUSLY, this was such an amazing read that had me reading until I finished the book in one sitting. The perfect "locked room" mystery that I highly recommend you checking out.

I loved this book! Agnes was a great protagonist with a sense of humor although it was hinged with sadness as well. The details on this cruise, along with the excursions were breathtaking. I enjoyed the format of the book along with the interesting cast of characters! I highly recommend it!

Thank you author @florenceWetzel , for my #gifted copy of your book , for an exchange of an honest review!.

You ever heard the saying “ Less is more “? . Author Florence demonstrates how true that saying is in her book “𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒲𝑜𝓂𝒶𝓃 𝒲𝒽𝑜 𝒲𝑒𝓃𝓉 𝒪𝓋𝑒𝓇𝒷𝑜𝒶𝓇𝒹”. She has crafted a brilliant , and phenomenal thriller , gives readers short chapters , but jammed packed with plots , and twists , turns that will keep your attention til the last page !. The story alternates during the cruise , and present day.

Readers are introduced to two ladies that soon will be playing big roles in the novel. We meet Pamela, and Agnes. The two are strangers who meet on the way to the same cruise. They talk , and find out they have a ton in common , and instantly become best friends.

Agnes reveals that the cruise was a birthday gift from her daughter. But - to her it’s a bit more than that , she wants to take advantage, of the cruise to find herself a man . She’s desperate how desperate is she for the man of her dreams ?

Agnes , how to describe Agnes : I liked her character I thought in a strange way she was a delight. I instantly connected with her mainly , because we both liked Jane Austen, and ( by the way I must add that the author is brilliant , to include Jane Austen quotes that fit with the story ). Agnes is charming , but as the story goes on it reveals she is hiding a deep dark secret.... not just her secret either.

Pamela - how do I describe Pamela she’s likable , has a drinking problem . And , she is totally obsessed with “Titanic “. In fact - that played a part in her death.

Then we are introduced to Wendy , Pamela’s daughter who , is quite suspicious, of Agnes , and Agnes now husband. We learn that we are indeed not on the cruise , even though the author describes the events so well , that it feels that you’re there on that cruise . But - in reality you find out Wendy is reading out of Agnes notebook that tells all about the cruise. Why ? To find out what happened to her mother.

I know what happened.... but I won’t say you have to order this book , and find out for yourself. It’s pretty much the ultimate plot twist .. and a total stab in the back !.

I highly recommend YOU DO ORDER this book!. This book is a gem the author , is a phenomenal storyteller, she has a very vivid imagination that like I mentioned , before feels like it’s real. I enjoyed this book, and I will be looking out for books from the author. !

My Thoughts: I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. The author Florence , is a gifted storyteller. From how she brings the characters to life to the description of the environment. You can tell she put so much passion , and thought into her research .The story is written in first person narrated by Agnes well kind of (you’ll see why when you read ). It’s got fast paced short chapters ( less is more ) , with a surprise for Jane Austen fans .The plot is unique, fresh , thrilling . The characters are like able Agnes seems sweet and innocent , but develops into a creepy antagonist. But , yet despite that you can’t help , but to still like her. Thoughts

Agnes has never had never had luck in the love department, but she is determined to find a husband on the cruise her daughter got her for her 50th birthday. On the train ride to the cruise she meets Pamela and by luck would have it they are going to the same place. Little does Pamela know she shouldn't have taken a photo of them on the train and post it on Facebook with the hashtag #cruisebestie! Now that's what Agnes thinks they are, automatic best friends.
When the ladies get to their destination Agnes sees Einar, and she knows they are meant to be! Pamela disagrees with her but Agnes knows that they are meant to be. When Agnes gets sick and misses out on an excursion, Pamela comes back to the boat with a new #cruisebestie and eyes for Einar. Now all bets are off and Agnes will stop at nothing to make Einar hers and show Pamela who she's messing with.

What a ride this was! Agnes is crazy with a capital C! Even her daughter tells her that she always comes on too strong in friendships and love. The story alternates chapters between now and then with Pamela's daughter trying to figure out how her mom went overboard. I will say that I did not see what really happened to her coming.

This book is out now! Thank you to Author Florence Wetzel and Books on Demand for my #copy.

This story follows Agnes on a Norwegian Fantasies Cruise and her search to find a husband. It is told from two different time lines as Agnes recounts everything that happened on the trip to a woman's daughter, who is looking for answers.

Agnes is a woman who at first I felt bad for, but there quote on the front definitely describes Agnes the best "I don't know if you should hug her or run away." She's extremely eccentric and blind to her own flaws. She is also extremely devious and, as impatient as she is about getting a husband, she is very patient on her schemes.

I had a hard time really getting into this book, as it wasn't a anxiety inducing thriller like I'm used to. It was also pretty easy to tell who the guilty party was right off the bat, although I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. I really enjoyed the imagery of all the landscapes and wouldn't have minded being on the cruise with them to see these sites.

There was a bit of comedy throughout the book and a wide variety of personalities. The author did a great job of having the reader connect with Agnes There were times I felt embarrassed with her, anger and happiness. Some of my favorite scenes were in the cafe.

Even though this book wasn't for me, that doesn't mean you won't like it, so give it a try!

I have previously read The Grand Man by the same author and I have to say I enjoyed this one even more. I loved the setting on the cruise ship and how strong the focus is on the relationships between the different characters. The reader is thrown into the mystery right from the start, with the chapters alternating between flashbacks to the voyage and to present day where Pamela's daughter is questioning Agnes. A different and entertaining psychological thriller with lots of love for Scandinavian culture.

Agnes is a socially awkward and at times overzealous person. That’s putting it nicely. She’s desperate for a husband, and she knows she’s going to find one on her Norwegian cruise. When she meets Einar she knows he’s the one, but he has eyes for her mew friend Pamela. A year later, Pamela’s body washes ashore and her daughter comes to question Agnes.

The Woman Who Went Overboard was such a fun book. You know there’s a body going in, but you don’t know the circumstances. Finding out the story through the daughter’s questions and Agnes’ responses was so interesting. Especially the way Agnes bends the truth.

If you don’t like a slow burn, you’re not going to connect with this one. We follow Agnes through the whole cruise, and a bit beyond. I loved following her through the cruise and the Norwegian towns. If you’re looking to travel through a book, this story is perfect. Also, Agnes is pretty devious, don’t let her cat sweaters fool you. You don’t want to disappoint Agnes.

The story isn’t wildly twisty, but it’s peppered with enough devious actions to keep you going. You’ll cringe for Agnes when she doesn’t pick up social cues, and you’ll be shocked at her retaliation. This was my face 3/4 of the time 😬.

If you’re looking for a Nordic Noir that lets you travel and keeps you entertained, pick this one up. Thank you to Florence Wetzel for my copy!

Middle-aged Agnes has a perfect life. She enjoys her friends, her work, and the city she lives in. She’s missing one thing: a man. When she goes on a Norwegian cruise she finds the perfect man for her, but he may not see her in the same light. ⁣

This was another hidden gem that I found through instagram! I am so thankful to the author for reaching out. She has created a memorable, unique character that will stay in my mind for a while. This was a clever story that kept me enthralled from the first to last page. The drama between the characters during the cruise was very entertaining. There were even some parts that I was laughing out loud. The main character Agnes was so well done; likable yet despicable at the same time, vulnerable yet manipulative; very well dimensioned. This is a book I think all will enjoy. ⁣

The Woman Who Went Overboard is wild! We have an unreliable narrator who’s basically delusional and lives in her own world, yet I can’t help but empathise with her. Agnes is lonely and desperate, causing her to cling to people, even the ones she just met. Her voice is written really well, and I feel every emotion she feels.

To be fair to Agnes, Pamela isn’t a good friend and Einar also has his own issues. There were also other characters in the group with their own interesting personalities. The mystery involves Pamela’s fate and the book has twists and turns as we learn what happened. The setting is perfectly described too, I’m almost tempted to join a cruise! This is a fun read for fans of psychological thrillers with complicated protagonists.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It’s a riveting psychological thriller about a woman who goes missing on a Norwegian cruise. I wanted to find out what happened to her, but at the same time, I didn’t want this page-turning story to end.

It’s told from the first-person perspective of Agnes Andersson, an eccentric middle-aged woman—who loves coffee & cake—and is on the hunt for a husband. She meets her ideal man on the cruise, but he prefers her new friend, Pamela...and then Pamela goes missing from the ship.

The book has plenty of plot twists that were shockingly clever. I liked the short chapters, with their succinct & often humorous headings. Even though it was a thriller, I often laughed out loud at the antics of Agnes. Being inside her head was a fascinating experience & kept me on the edge of my seat as I waited to see what she’d get up to next. Best of all, I felt like I’d travelled through the beautiful country of Norway by the end of the book.

This story is told by Agnes, a middle-aged awkward woman who desperately wants a husband. What better way than to find one on a cruise? She sets her eyes on a handsome Norwegian widower named Einar. The only problem being is that he’s more interested in her friend Pamela. A year later Pamela’s body washes ashore and her daughter visits Agnes with burning questions about the cruise.⁣

I want to give a huge thank you to @florencewetzel for sending me a copy of her novel, she is the absolute sweetest person!

I was pleased that the book stayed true to the summary. This is quite a page turner, I loved how everything came together in the end perfectly. I enjoyed that it was a fresh plot and very unique. There was depth to the characters that made me want to know more.

A psychological thriller about a Swedish-American woman who becomes obsessed with a Norwegian widower during a cruise along the coast of Norway? Sign me up!

Agnes Andersson is an awkward, middle-aged woman who desperately wants a husband. Agnes becomes entranced by Einar, who happens to take a liking to Agnes’s new bestie, Pamela. Pamela’s body washes ashore a year later, and her daughter wants answers from Agnes.

I loved that this thriller took place on a cruise ship— it definitely gave me The Woman in Cabin 10 vibes. The beautiful setting of a Norwegian cruise made it even better. The Woman Who Went Overboard was a quick read, and it definitely kept me wanting answers about what happened to Pamela—answers that I did not see coming. The main character, Agnes, was super unlikable to me. Her over-the-top, obsessive personality had me wanting to scream. Even her daughter tried to talk sense into her, but Agnes makes her own decisions and definitely comes on strong at times. All of the characters were so different— add in the element that they are all stuck on a ship together and you will get some drama!

Really I get this 2.5 but rounding it up to 3. I seriously would have stopped reading this book but it was a fast read. The main character was completely annoying and quite a psychopath. Then her little love interest he was another odd one too. I mean what happened was a complete accident and then nobody says anything? I was expecting a good little mystery but it ended up being just a dramatic filled little love romance that was not returned at first..

I really don’t want to give too much away. This was definitely not a favorite book. I kept waiting for like the big reveal or a big bang. But there really was never anything like that. I got to the end of the book and I was like why the hell that I read this? Although maybe the main character was just too annoying for me. Because a lot of people seem to enjoy this book.

2.5 stars for tricking me with marketing as a psychological thriller, it’s not even a regular thriller in my opinion- but maybe I’ve read too many. To a new thriller genre reader it would probably be a 4 star book. Easy & Fast, read like an old Saturday night mystery movie of of the week. I actually pictured it like The Love Boat.
Though the 2main characters were so totally odd that it was almost silly. I did want to stop reading many times because the female main character annoyed the crap outta me! not sure if she was supposed to be harmlessly over zealous & slightly delusional or a full blown psychopath. And him, hmmm, almost endearing at times but what was up with him is still a mystery. Then the ending… geez! No spoilers, so interpret that how you will. :)

I really, really enjoyed this book. I love the characters and sometimes I hate Agnes and sometimes I feel so damn sorry for her. The quote from Skrivdrömmar (Writing Dreams) on the cover that says "... I don't know if you should hug her or run away." perfectly describes my feelings about her. I like the way Florence Wetzel write and how she tells a story. Without trying to spoil, I had been giving this a fullpott if the thrilling experience lasted til the end. Despite that, I loved the story til the end. I loved her previous thriller "The Grand Man" and liked this even more. Florence Wetzel really can write and tell a good story.
