Second in the Roam series and following the ending from the last book I had no idea what was going to happen in this one. Again the plot moved quite quickly, there wasn't any dragging things out. But on the other hand I do love my dragged out romance and I felt like West and Roam's romance reached its limit in book one. It's inevitable they are destined for one another so not sure what more on the romance side there will be in the following books. Though the ending here does make you want to dive straight into book 3.

just finished Fall (Book #2 in Kimberly's Roam Series) and I am HOOKED. I am interested in every character and this unique plot. The romance is very well written and every setting is described very clearly. I feel like I know the characters and can feel each every emotion they are going through. Very impressed and proud of you Kimee! I CAN'T WAIT FOR RISE (Book #3).

Struggling to understand the complex plot of the story but still enjoying it. Back and forth to different worlds in different time zones is mind boggling. Troy is so evil; Logan, who's side is he on and West, is he really team Roam or just trying to manipulate her for his own ends?

How do you survive when you have lost the master of your heart, the guardian of your soul, and the love of your life? One agonizing minute at a time.

Matured both psychologically and emotionally, Roam Camden is no longer inexperienced or naive. Devastated by the loss of West behind a destroyed magic door, she's euphoric at the news she's pregnant. Bolstered by this new knowledge, her focus has a new goal: protect her child. Fearing evil will come again like it stalks her dreams, she prepares. Conflicted by the confusing emotions, she finds an inner strength to meet each new day. But will she be ready for events yet to come, or will others decided her fate?

Once more, West Perry has pulled Roam from the clutches of the evil one, Troy. Although this magic door no longer exists, he's determined to locate another one, because Roam, his love, is not safe. Influenced across time and space by Troy to the dark side,Logan is with her. Can he reach her in time to save her from the dark forces surrounding her or will Logan succumb to the murderous dreams of Troy's machinations?

Gone are Logan Rush's dreams of the Marines and Roam. With a brotherly love, he has a new mission: prepare Roam and keep her safe. But with these terrifying, murderous dreams every night, he prays his love is strong enough. Resisting the influences of his evil partner, Troy, trapped in another time, he wonders if he will succeed. Can he overcome these destructive urges as Roam and West believe, or will Troy's wickedness reach through time and space?

Will Roam obtain her life's desire? West

Will West return to his heart and soul? Roam

Can Logan be swayed to the darker side by Troy?

Which one of the quartet will receive their heart's desire?

Twists and turns in this story change almost on each page. The prophecy, magic, and outcomes unfold with each revelation.I would recommend this second installment in the Roam Series. Well written. Well developed characters!

Exciting and unexpected! Excellent read!

3.5 stars

I loved the first book, but I have mixed feelings about this second book. There are a lot more questions than answers as the prophecy is revealed and played out. Perhaps that is intentional, but at times, I felt like the surprise plot twists and turns gave me whiplash more than intrigue. For example, no one is very surprised that Violet turns out to be another Immortal. It is just accepted. No one wonders if she is another person originally in the ice castle world and what role she played. Has she repeatedly 'reincarnated' just like Roam, or did she just pop up? Is she immortal because she is West's daughter or a planned/accident of Asher's spell?

Another twist that was unexplained (so far) is baby Eva's recovery. She did not make it through the fountain gate with everyone else, but somehow ends up in the ice castle world secured by Troy's people. Troy however, has been held captive this whole time. Why/how? Not important enough? If these issues would be questioned by at least one of the characters, it would tip me off that it will be addressed later. But as it is ignored/accepted by all, it makes a frustrating read.

Then the love triangle between Roam, Logan, and West seems to keep re-surfacing, even though it seemed apparent that 'destiny' has already tied Roam and West together. Going back and forth between Logan and West after all the history makes Roam seem that much more immature and reminds me repeatedly that she is still seventeen in this lifetime.

There also seems to be more grammatical errors and typos this time around, enough for me to stumble over enough times to take notice.

The overall story is still very interesting, enough for me to anticipate the third book.

4 CONSUMING STARS

You know how I know when a book deserves 4 stars? When I forget real life and lose myself in the story, the characters, the whole shebang. In Fall, I didn’t just forget reality, I checked out. So much so that I would find myself dreaming about Roam, West and Logan.. okay, just West and Logan. But the point is, this book consumed me.

I went into Fall with more than a little trepidation. Because as huge a romance fan as I am, there aren’t many YA love stories that will carry a plot on their own. Fortunately, Stedronsky is a clever author and really beefed up the plot in Fall. So..

The story
Roam is back in present-day Ohio, pregnant and heartbroken with West stuck in the past and no known means of returning. Logan, her steadfast best friend and reluctant ex has promised to take care of her, despite his bitterness and heartbreak. But can he be trusted?

Tbh the first third of the book was unmemorable – Roam is obsessed with getting West back and until that happened, well, it was a little boring. But after that, the book just got better and better. There are some big reveals in the book - for example what exactly will the end of the world entail and how did West, Logan, Troy and Roam become immortal in the first place? – that make me REALLY REALLY excited about where the story is going (fantasy and alternate history fans, rejoice!)

The romance
There are only two words to describe Roam and West’s connection: ageless and inevitable. Their love is beautiful and devastating and destructive, all at once.

My favourite quote (spoilery):

Does the love triangle persist? Yes, and I did question some of Roam’s actions at times, but I will say that it is always clear (to everyone) where Roam’s heart really lies.

The bottom line
Overall, this book was all-consuming and I can’t wait to dive into book 3 and the new world that Stedronsky has introduced us to. I do warn you though, Fall packs an emotional punch (one I did not expect after reading Roam). Be prepared to have your heart ripped out, readers!

While the ending of the last book wasn't too compelling, there had been some underlying plots like the concept of the two worlds that had seemed very interesting. This book was incredibly short and I read it in a matter of three hours. Again, the ending is just good enough to entice you to maybe pick up the next book. The characters are nothing too extraordinary but I do like them enough to smile when I see those rare, sweet moments. Some real answers are provided in this book, but there is still some mystery left uncovered. I love how West and Roam always keep finding their way back to each other, how Logan is always there for Roam as a friend and vice versa, what a wonderful sister Morgan is to Roam. I am looking forward to knowing what happens next, so here we go.

With West stuck in another time and Roam pregnant with his child, every day brings her one step closer to the prevention of the end of the world. But her family is unaware of her history with West and circumstances push her and Logan together time and time again. When Roam and Logan finally figure out a way to bring West back to their time, they are faced with the possibility of facing their enemy, Troy. Their past together in the other world is revealed piece by piece and the child of the prophecy is born in a way no one expects him/her to be. But for everything you gain, you must sacrifice a whole lot more, and this time, Roam has to pay the price.

The rest of this review contains spoilers and quotes from 'Fall'.

“Date whoever you want, Logan. If West was still here, I would be with him.”

First of all, I don't know why Roam assumes West is dead. Yes, he's not here because the fountain was blown up but she has to at least think that he is alive in 1977 still. Once she gets to that train of thought, she may be able to put together that there are other ways for him to make it back here. I don't fully understand the two worlds/parallel universes that West was dreaming about, so I hope that is better explained. And I am hoping Logan and Roam rekindle their friendship like they did all those years ago.

“West isn’t here right now. The West that we left in 1977 didn’t sit around, waiting for thirty years for 2012 again because he’s not here right now. That means we find him. Did you ever think about that?”

Logan loves Roam but he still tells her this. These words, which will only steel her resolve to bring him back and prove to her that she will succeed, and that is why I reiterate my point that he is such an amazing friend. The dream that Roam has of Troy saying that he can't wait to marry her is probably in the other world, where by marriage, he could have become the king, but then she must have escaped and met West? All speculation at this point, of course.

“You’d stay for me?”
“Yes.”
I thought about what he was saying, what he was offering, closing my eyes.
Does it change anything?
Sighing, I finally focused on his handsome face again.
No… I love West.
It will always be West.

This choice makes all the difference in the world. While Roam is constantly pulled in by the familiarity she feels with Logan and the fact that he loves her and he's right there, I can't help but be glad every time she pulls back and remembers West because I am rooting for the both of them romantically. The entire West and Troy coming back isn't a surprise but since we don't have dual perspectives, we are just told what happens instead of experiencing the adventure so it's not as fun.

“When I made you mine, it was forever.”

The adventure to 1955 was completely crazy. I understood why they wanted to take Troy there and trap him there without his numbers, but with Roam bleeding out, I think West should have just taken her to the hospital. But they had Eva and we got more answers from Troy. What he said about him and Logan being brothers and West being his knight in this other world is fascinating, and makes me wonder if Roam ultimately fell for West there too while she just fooled around with Troy and Logan. Violet being immortal is a nice addition and I like that she developed some connection with West. I knew taking Eva across would end badly, it was just a pity that Roam also lost the baby she had in 2012. Now, she needs her space from West and needs time to heal.

After three days, I guess Roam realises that she needs West and he needs her more than they need to be apart. Logan likes Violet and talking to her somehow puts him back in the friend zone with Roam, thankfully. I can't help but think keeping Troy in a basement is only going to backfire on all of them splendidly. What Troy once said, about Asher sending them all to this world and making them immortal to save West still requires further explanation in my opinion. If Asher was West's father, why would he send the two people who would hunt him and Roam through the centuries, unless it was to protect their own world? I am glad West has finally taken the initiative to show Roam how to shoot...that lesson is long overdue. It's curious how Roam lost two minutes of time when she was suddenly in front of the basement door and Troy told her about the three men and the end of the world.

“Roam Eva Camden. Of all of the times that I’ve asked to be your husband, I’ve never wanted you more than this.” He pressed his lips to the back of my hand in a courtly manner, his incredible blue eyes silently drawing me in. “Will you marry me?”

It's so sweet that West named their daughter Eva after her middle name back in 1955. I assume Eva will somehow be brought back, seeing as no other baby seems to be in sights. The proposal is much better than the parking lot one. Since she is still in high school and he is still her teacher, I am sure this secret needs to stay a secret for a longer time. What I am curious about is how suddenly, Roam has no dreams of her past lives. It is perhaps because the dreams have accomplished what they were meant to and unite West and Roam but still. Now, the focus is completely on this other world.

When we come to the final segment, first, Roam is ready to trade her life for Laurel's. West plans on reducing her but Asher's spell doesn't make them immortal in this world, as a result, West can't make it past Troy's army alive. When it is revealed that Eva is indeed alive, and Laurel and Violet reunite, Roam promises to stay and rule as queen by Troy's side until he eventually kills her for his own pleasure. In return, he promises to let everyone else go back to their own world. Logan stays behind with his brother, Troy, and with his best friend, Roam, so long as he doesn't have to hurt her. I am glad she at least has someone who will be there for her here while she once more mourns the loss of West and Eva.

I bought up the first three books in this series while they were on sale for 0.99 each and I am glad I did. The first book as you know leaves us in quite a cliff hanger. Roam is back home in the present with a bun in the oven while her love West is back in 1977, trapped and she has no idea when or if he is going to come back.

I let myself sit and digest it for about a week before jumping onto book two because I wanted to be able to focus solely on it.

Okay, wow, this book left me breathless. So much happens and then there is a twist you (okay me) don't see coming and you are holding your chest, holding back tears and having to put the book down for a moment to catch my breath and prepare myself to go on. It doesn't stop there though you guys. So much keeps happening .

Logan is with Roam from the start and things are strained between them to say the least. Roam is trying to make the best of things without West, but also wants to figure out a way to bring him back. There were a few times with Logan when I was like "Really dude?" I mean total idiot guy at times confusing Roam and just yeah.

The ending, total cliffhanger and I mean even more so than ROAM. I was hitting the next page going "What NOOO!! What the flip! Can't end there" But it does and it did and yeah, again glad I have the next book ready and waiting for me. Again I am forcing myself to wait for the perfect time because I know I will read it in a day and all other things will be forgotten while reading.

As you can tell I am not mentioning much in this review, because then that would freaking spoil it for you all but just know Kim does not disappoint and she has me totally and utterly hooked.

Is there higher than a 5 star rating? Seriously, I love this book as much as I love the first book, 'Roam'. The story picks up right where 'Roam' leaves off and there isn't a dull moment. The plot is so interesting and having two worlds in it is not hard to follow.
Kimberly Stedronsky weaves the storytelling into a smooth series of events.
As difficult as things are with Roam and Logan and West, there are moments of comic relief between Logan and Roam (my mind springs straight to the 'condoms and twizzlers' remark.... that was great!)
I am not a young adult reader by any means, but I felt that this isn't just for the 'young adult reader'. It's about loving someone. The love between these characters reminds me of youth but also what love should be at any age. In this series of 'Roam',I don't feel that I have to be a 17 year old girl to love this story. Whether you're 17, 27, 47, or 50 something years old, love is an experience. The emotions and love you have and give has no time stamp on it. No expiration.
Keep up the good work Kimberly and keep the sequels coming!

I didn't think it could get any better but this book was definitely a roller-coaster. I can't help but hope that Logan and Roam will still have a little something in the future. I love when they meet in their dreams and they have the seductive little moments. I guess I'm glad the book ended the way it did because I had to pick up the other one right away! If it hadn't ended in such a traumatic way I would have just waited and forgotten what was going on. Logan is such a sweety though. I like Violet but there's something about her that I'm not really feeling.

I loved Roam, so of course I have to read Fall. I stayed up all night to finish and of course, now I have to read Rise...but only because Stedronsky has written something so amazing that I can't help but want to know more. Logan, Will and Roam are joined by others as they try to save our world and the action keeps me reading. There is so much I want to say about this book, but in doing so, I would spoil so much. This is an amazing series, inventive, intelligent and just all around well-written. And West...c'mon, he's the ideal book boyfriend!!

Words can barely contain my joy when I discovered randomly that this sequel was available! Sappy I know, sorry 'bout that :) This book was an amazingly good book, sometimes book two is not, this one was so good. The story knocks you out, the adventure, the orginality, some intimacy and love to a certain mutual respect, children and heart breaking all of this at the same time. I can't wait for the next book, I will have no nails by the time it comes out!

Its official, I have fallen in love with Roam and the the clan. The problem with reading a really good book is that it finishes really fast, I got through this book in less than one day it made me sad to have to wait for the next one. Thank you Kimberly, I will be singing your praises here in New Zealand.

Roam is part of a world-saving prophecy. Her child with West can save one world and doom another. However, in seven lives their child has never been born and Roam has never lived. Now they have a chance to travel back to her other lives and change history.

This is quite an entertaining time-travel-prophecy romance. The author does a nice job of weaving the different time periods and different lives of Roam and Logan together by using West as the constant. It could have become too much quickly but there's clarity and distinction. I also like that the supporting cast was expanded into the main story. I hate unnecessary secrets and love much-needed assistance. Roam is still way too weak for my likes but West makes up for her constant crying with his endless patience. I'm still on the fence about Logan. I don't think he will hurt Roam; I simply can't decide if I like him. I will say, his move at the end went a long way to winning me over. Looking forward to more.

I enjoyed the story in this book more than the first one. You need to understand the concept of time travel in this book and the Tatoo coordinate thingy. Otherwise, it's hard to follow the story. Honestly, it's unlike any other book I've ever read before; it's unique👍.

The parallel universe mentioned in this book is also fascinating. We get to visit Troy's kingdom in the last few chapters, and it's finished with a cliffhanger. What a messy life Roam has to live, especially at her young age! I wonder what's going to happen next.

Is the story continuing in the 'real world' where West will have to care for Eva while the team finds a way to rescue Roam? Or, are we going to read about the suffering that Roam has to withstand in Troy's kingdom? Who started the prophecy? Is it a fact that Eva is the key to it or Roam? There are still so many facts to be uncovered in the story.

Terrible. Major spoilers. Roam’s major character flaws from book one become overwhelming here. For the first 150 pages all she does is throw up, faint or cry. Oh. A murderer is coming after me and I am all alone!! Let darkness take me!!pass out and be completely helpless if he comes.

Trigger warnings are missing that are urgently needed for miscarriage and infant death.

Then there is the whole West I need space plot and a chapter later. Oh West, take me!! Days after miscarriage.

This book is not YA. It needs to decide if it is spice with a little bit of plot. Or plot with a little spice as right now it is failing at both.

Requires serious rewrites and editing. I do not feel it is likely I will even attempt to finish the series. Roam is the worst kind of Mary Sue character as a main character. This should never have been published in this state.

The second book in this series drew me in a lot quicker than the first. There was a lot to take in and I really enjoyed the fast paced setting. This book had even heavier content than the first but, it worked well with how the author wanted the story to go and I really enjoyed it.
