He offered me a crazy deal I couldn’t refuse. Even if I knew I made it with the devil within him.
Antonio All I wanted was a nanny, until she walked in and breathed a need into me. I craved her as my wife even if it was only a marriage of convenience. I would make sure she would never leave me even if I had to tie her to my bed. As long as she stayed with me.
Divya I went to him to fulfil my financial needs. I didn’t know he would disrupt my world. Then I discovered the darkness within him and knew he wasn’t the type to walk the moral line. Yet, I stood and watched… even as he burned me.
Can Divya forgive Antonio’s secrets and accept him, even though his darkness is far greater than any of her nightmares?
Nanny to the Mafia, the standalone first book in The Shadows of Cosa Nostra Chronicles, is a Mafia, forced marriage, enemies to lovers, interracial romance featuring a possessive consigliere and his innocent British-Indian nanny. While this spicy, dark mafia romance promises a HEA, readers may find some themes concerning. Use the preview feature for details.
Please note: This book is written in British English.
Sophia met her forbidden MMC and crossed continents for love. She was born and raised in South-East Asia and now lives in Europe with him and their daughter. Sophia’s own love story inspired her to rediscover her passion for writing.
She writes about love beyond cultural and racial boundaries. A defiance of what is ‘expected’ in favour of what is right. Her strong-willed, unapologetic, principled FMCs don't settle for less than they deserve, even if it means breaking social convention or cultural rules. Sophia’s MMCs, while being jealous, possessive heroes, will place the heroine at the centre of their world and are willing to change and learn to gain trust and respect.
When Sophia is not writing, she’s busy being an entrepreneur or enjoying quality time with her family. Aside from that, she loves to have an authentic connection with her readers, so feel free to reach out to Sophia.
I have a lot of thoughts on this book. I was really excited when the author approached me with the arc and I had high expectations from this book but it disappointed me. I liked the writing of the book. There was so much potential but it was wasted.
There were things I enjoyed like the connection between Cora and Divya. I liked how Divya's grief over losing her parents' was portrayed. I also enjoyed the insta lust that ignited between Antonio and Divya.
Now, let's talk about the things I didn't like. The prologue was completely unnecessary in my opinion. It added nothing to the story and was so confusing.
I didn't like how the characters acted so juvenile most of the time. The way Divya reacted to Antonio telling her he did the background check on her was so over the top. Of course he's gonna do a background check on you if he's entrusting you with his kid!
The relationship between Antonio and Divya could have more depth. They felt bland to me halfway through the book. They started out good but then it fizzled out.
The thing I hated most was how Antonio let his mother walk all over him and did nothing to put her in her place. And how there was no murder or torture or even weapons in this book!! How is it a mafia romance without a bit of violence and murder and mayhem? It didn't feel like a mafia romance at all.
Overall, it was an okay book. Not bad but not good either.

Let me tell you. This book will be the reason I go into a mafia book slump now. How would any other mafia book compare? AND IT’S A DEBUT NOVEL. 😭🙌🏽
Sophia Raz gave me plot, she gave me a spicy Italian man speaking dirty Italian phrases to me, she gave twists, a great storyline and soooo much spice! This beauty took me about a day to go through and I literally could not put it down. I experienced “book grief” when it was over, not knowing what I’m gonna read next that would give me that high like this novel did.
Divya and Antonio will be my Roman Empire. The way that they organically became a couple, Divya’s attitude towards Antonio, Antonio’s way of making her met with his Italian accent and just strong presence was HOT. The side characters gave the story more substance and helped to build the relationship between Divya and Antonio. I especially loved Rosa and how even with a bit of a language barrier, you could understand that she meant well and have everyone’s best interest at heart.
This is going into one of my top Mafia reads of 2024 FOR SURE. I can’t wait to read more of Sophia’s work soon!!❤️
“Passion was a strange thing. You rarely missed it when you never had it. But once you’ve tasted it, experienced it, and knew what it could do to you, you couldn’t live without it”. 📚 BEAUTIFUL PLAY OF WORDS. 📚
I couldn’t finish the book. The MMC was obsessed but not in a good way it genuinely was just weird like before he even starts talking to her he’s focusing on what color her nipples might be??? idk maybe it’s just me but this book wasn’t it and I had such high hopes considering all of the good reviews I saw but in all honesty the book just wasn’t all that. Take my review with a grain of salt tho considering I didn’t even finish it but if I ever do I will come back and update.
I was intrigued by the plot and did enjoy the angst/tension between the characters. I do think their relationship progression was believable and I enjoyed watching their love story unfold. The writing style wasn’t one I personally enjoyed though others may find it more appealing. The writing felt chopped and disconnected at times so it was harder for me to stay engaged, otherwise I would have rated higher. I would recommend other readers try and see if the style fits them!
There was so much passion between the MC’s And antonio was just 🫠🫠🫠 This book also continuesly kept me interested there was always something going on that took my attention to wanting to keep reading it trough the whole day!
I cant wait to start the next book of the series 😍
It has ✨enemies to lovers ✨touch her and 💀 ✨arranged marriage ✨he falls first ✨slow burn
I always feel bad leaving bad reviews, but I just couldn't not leave a review for this one. This was honestly not a book for me. I didn't really enjoy reading it at all. My main issue is the constant reminder that they were different races. I understood going into this book that they were an interracial couple. I was all down for that. My husband and I are a mixed family with different colors, customs, and traditions that we incorporate into our lives, and it's nice seeing that in stories. However, this book did NOT do it well at all, in my opinion. I felt that their different races and cultures were brought up every 5 pages for no reason at all, except to remind us about the differences between them. it was rather annoying, really. I get setting things up and painting a picture of who the characters are, but you don't need to remind people about it so frequently, especially if it does nothing to move the story forward. I didn't mind parts like when the two MCs went to visit India and she got a taste of what it was like there, but there were just so many parts where bringing up their differences added nothing to the story except to point out that they were a different color than one another. It was honestly too much.
On top of that, I honestly don't know if I'd call this a mafia story. it had some slight elements, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. The fact that he's trying to make a "good" and "legal" version of the mafia, I think, just kind of contradicts what people are wanting when they are looking to read a mafia book. I think it would've been better to make him something else... a boss, a rich d!ckhead... something, but not a top person in the mafia.
Lastly, I really didn't like any of the characters. I thought she was rather stupid for not realizing he was in the mafia or at least doing something that is illegal. I think the author was hoping she'd come off as pure or full of goodness, but it just made her look dumb. The fact that she was so okay with how he treated her at times was just baffling. I really wasn't a fan of his character. I felt he was somewhat abusive at times. Maybe the author was hoping that he would just come off as dominant or controlling in a good way, but it just put him in a bad light. The only good thing about this was the little girl, but for a book that was supposed to be about the MFL being a nanny, they sure didn't have as many scenes as I thought they would with her. It was like the little girl was an afterthought at times.
This is the debut book of Sophia Raz and I was really excited when I saw the title Nanny to the Mafia since I love the single dad trope and mafia is one of my favourites to read about.
I love the writing style of Sophia. I love the attention to details and the couple/family she created with Divya, Antonio and little Cora. I enjoyed that Cora (the child of Antonio) was involved often.Sometimes authors tend to do a single dad/mom trope but forget to involve the kid into the plot the further the story moves along. This is not the case for Nanny to the Mafia.
Another important part of the story was involving Divaya's grieving journey regarding her parents. I thought it was very well portrayed. Especially when it was shown during an important event for Divya (don't want to spoiler the book that's why I don't mention the event!)
I enjoyed the book but sometimes I wish the characters would have acted more their age. I know there was an age gap but the way they fought with each other especially in the beginning toward the middle of the book seemed sometimes a bit immature in my opinion.
On the other hand I did enjoy the prologue a lot. I love that we got to see some characters from an outsider perspective. I have never seen that in another books (at least as far as I can remember) and l thought that was an amazing way to start the book!
Thank you to Sophia for giving me the opportunity to read the book. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
He offered me a crazy deal I couldn’t refuse. Even if I knew I made it with the devil within him.
Antonio. All I wanted was a nanny, until she walked in and breathed a need into me. I craved her as my wife even if it was only a marriage of convenience.
I loved this story. The first couple of chapters starts with introducing al the characters. But then the journey begins and you want to know everything what happens in Casa Capizzi and outside.. The writing style of Sophia is very pleasant to read. The characters are well elaborated, I really felt the struggles Divya had. And Antonio what a men, sometimes I really hate him but, pfff he is hot. In this story you find all you need for a nice mafia romance. This is the first book from Sophia Raz and it a very nice debut. Thank you Sophia for this ACR to read and review
This book was well written and I enjoyed the storyline. I would not really classify this as a dark romance. The only violence described in the book was when Antonio beat up Divya’s ex or when they addressed the fact that in the mafia they sometimes kills people. The book doesn’t really dive into many details about the mafia but I can understand they were trying to legalize more businesses within their organization.
I thought that it would come up sooner that Divya discovered she was working for the Mafia considering the title of the book. That being said, the book had good twists that made you want to keep reading. The main characters had great chemistry and angst with plenty of banter to fill the pages! Great strangers to enemies to lovers storyline. I like how it portrayed Antonio’s realization of what love was and therefore his feelings towards his wife. This leads to a happily ever after for our main characters.
This is a well written debut novel. There is a lot of talk about sex but not all the scenes are graphically described.

Steamy!
Nanny, arranged marriage, a little mafia, some misunderstandings, steamy scenes, drama, and a cute baby—I’m definitely in.
Author Sophia Raz has delivered some sizzling scenes in “Nanny to the Mafia.” But it’s not just about the sizzle. Unbeknownst to Divya, she is not just a nanny to an adorable baby, but she is working for a member of the mafia. Much of the story is centered around Divya and Antonio’s relationship, which I enjoyed.
When Antonio’s estranged ex wants full custody of their baby, he demands that Divya marry him to show the courts that he has a secure family in place. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Antonio already has a strong attraction towards her.
Readers will follow Divya and Antonio as all the obstacles challenge their relationship. I loved the interracial romance aspect of the story and how Antonio described and loved everything about Divya. I’m so glad I’ve found a new author to read, and I will be reading Book 2 shortly.
The angst and constant push and pull in this book was HOT!! 🔥🤌
Antonio was a true anti-hero. I hated that I loved him so much. He was possessive, obsessed, so hot and swoony but a total cutie with his daughter and a beast in the bed. I just wished he could communicate better. But in his own way he was soo soo good!!
Divya was so sassy. I loveeed her character and how she stood up for herself. She knew her worth and didn't hesitate to demand it. I especially loved the representation of her Indian heritage.
Together they were fireworks! From their first meeting, I could see the sparks. The angst and tension was soo hot. I would have loved more sweet moments but the spicy ones kept me busyy too 🤭
I can't believe this is a debut novel. It has the perfect plot, drama and swoony romance. I can't wait to read more from the author 💖
loved the book so much. very romantic very emotional and best part the little crumbs of my country and my little angel cora I love that bundle of joy so much. overall nice read.
Jumping into this book feels like entering a world where the stakes are high and the romance hotter. This isn't your typical nanny story; it's a thrilling ride through love, danger, and the complexities of the heart in the shadowy corners of the mafia world.
Meet Divya, who's more than just a nanny—she's a force to be reckoned with, navigating the tricky waters of childcare and a budding, unexpected romance. Then there's Antonio, the embodiment of the tall, dark, and dangerously captivating mafia consigliere. He's in the market for a nanny but ends up finding so much more than he bargained for.
The spark between Divya and Antonio is instant and intense. Their connection? It's electric, a slow burn that promises to ignite into an all-consuming flame. Their banter is the perfect blend of sharp, witty, and heart-poundingly real, making each exchange a delightful game of verbal ping-pong that you can't help but be drawn into.
And the steaminess? It's there, smoldering beneath the surface, ready to burst into flames at any moment. Yet, it's the slow build, the anticipation of their relationship that truly captivates, offering a satisfying payoff that feels both earned and utterly enchanting.
Sophia Raz crafts a world that's as complex as it is captivating, blending the elements of forced marriage, enemies-to-lovers, and the intriguing backdrop of mafia intrigue with a skillful hand. The result is a story that's as much about finding love in the most unexpected places as it is about the personal growth that comes from facing one's fears and stepping into the unknown.
Nanny to the Mafia is a beautifully balanced romance that strikes just the right note between fun and seriousness, heat, and heart. It's a testament to the power of love to bloom in the darkest of places, promising readers a journey that's not only thrilling but deeply satisfying. Raz's debut is a compelling invitation to dive into a world where love defies the odds, making it a standout read for anyone craving a romance that's both spicy and sweet.
"What is love? Is it wanting a fucking life time of this? Is it wanting to be with you all the time?" Oh damn..... From the moment their dynamic was introduced, I found myself utterly entranced. 😍 Antonio, a powerful made man in the criminal underworld, falling unexpectedly for the gentle soul that is Divya, his daughter's nanny. The author doesn't simply tell us about their connection; we experience it firsthand through finely crafted scenes that show their chemistry crackling to life.
With each twist and turn, the story tightened its grip, holding me spellbound until the very last page was turned. 📖 While the beginning did require some adjustment, by the end, I was in awe of this debut novel's brilliance. But what truly made this book shine was the authentic representation of Indian culture woven throughout. 🇮🇳 Rather than merely stating he's ruthless, the author illustrates this dichotomy through his actions - detached and unyielding in his work, yet tender and devoted to his family and staff. 👨👩👧 This juxtaposition adds incredible depth, making his vulnerability all the more poignant when it emerges.
The relationships were another high point, with the beautiful friendship between Divya and Angelo providing heartwarming moments I wished we could have seen even more of. 👫 And Divya's bond with Cora, Antonio's daughter? A touching portrait of gentle nurturing that left me positively smitten. 👩👦
By the novel's conclusion, I was left both immensely satisfied and ravenous for more of this exquisite story. 😩 Bravissima to the author on crafting such a rich, enthralling debut!
i’m sorry, i’m about this close to chucking my phone across the room, watching the glass shatter, and using it to claw my eyes out.
genuinely calling divya indian is a hate crime. I know that the author is white, or at least NOT indian, but seriously? she’s a british WHITEWASHED indian girl.
first of all, divya has the personality of a white crayon. I mean, other than her dead parents, what else is she?!
ALSO WHAT’S WITH THE WEIRD OBSESSION WITH HER BREASTS? like if i had a penny for every time her breasts were mentioned unnecessarily elon musk wouldn’t have jack shit on me
second, why do we get so many commentaries on her body??? and what is the Y/N aah character? like big breasts, fat ass, no stomach?? come on—literally so few people are built like that, and it’s honestly embarrassing to read
third, she’s “proud” of her Indian culture—of which she has no knowledge?? since when were lehengas “two-piece dresses”?! and apparently the only indian food she knows is curry? That’s honestly borderline racist. And where the hell is she getting a beige/tan lehenga? Indian aunties would burn in hell before ever making an Indian garment that color. But sure girl, match your personality.
also, any connected “indian” girl knows that fashion saris are 6 yards, not 9. 9 is for the Tamil baddies for traditional tamil pujas.
AND WHY THE HELL IS SHE WEARING WHITE TO HER OWN WEDDING? I mean, I know it’s an American thing, fine. That would be fine if she was wearing an AMERICAN outfit. White is the color of death in Indian culture, and wearing it to a wedding implies that her wedding is a funeral. I’m sorry, she should AT LEAST know that.
And yes, I know she’s only half Indian, BUT ITS EXPLICITLY STATED that her father made sure she was connected to her cultures and traditions.
and she’s PATHETICALLY naïve. If I wanted to keep my parent’s house, go to fashion school, and pay my rent—I’D DEFINITELY MARRY FOR MONEY. And what daft person would follow her fuckass boyfriend to Boston instead of your dream school?? He can still be your boyfriend a few hundred miles away, darling. And if he cheats, then at least you’ll never see him, y’know? Saves you the murder charge.
What kind of SUPREME IDIOT gives her good-for-nothing boyfriend, even if she didn’t know it at the time, access to ALL her finances? That’s common sense 101. Why would you even have your inheritance in a shared account??
Anyways, I think she’s a brainless, idiotic, insufferable, cunt-ass, fuckass hoe.
Now, moving onto Antonio.
Really, his only redeeming factor is that he’s a girl dad. That’s cute.
But it’s not enough to be a raging, angry, rude, borderline-rapist, cruel, insensitive bastard.
My first grievance is that the Dante Russo (MC of Ana Huang’s King of Wrath) inspiration is INTENSE. Now hear me when I say, I ADORE Dante. He’s pretty much the epitome of perfection in a man.
But I mean, the repetitive use of ‘mia cara’—when grammatically in Italian (as far as I know—sorry to the Italians and Italian-speakers if I’m wrong) it’s supposed to be ‘cara mia’ is a Dante Russo thing.
I see the angry-all-the-time energy, the tall, dark hair, etc. Wealthy CEO, murderous intentions from time to time, whatever. Even if that’s a coincidence, fine.
What I can’t understand is why his personality is solely about his dick. And I’m not talking Nikolai Sokolov kind of dick-obsession, (i love him ok) like, my man Ant’s whole personality is his blue-balls situation with Divya. Like, that’s it. Seriously. All he is is hard.
But also, his weird obsession with her breasts is just creepy. I don’t need to know that her boobs were resting on the couch, man, that’s kinda implied. Also, why are we two chapters in, and he’s already estimating her cup size?? I mean, with the way they describe the girls, they sound like DD-ish. And you’d think, oh! Maybe her band is larger! But NO, ‘cause she’s SKINNY. And sure, some people are naturally built like that. But 99% of the population has a little tummy, or has stretch marks or whatever.
And his little quip about a clean-shaven kitty just pissed me off. Sir, you’ll take it however we give it to you. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you, you nasty motherf-cker. You don’t shave your chest hair, so I ain’t shaving down there.
He also has zero respect or sensitivity towards Divya and her emotions?? Like, why can’t you show her an ounce of sympathy? Buddy, you’re not the shit to go all ‘I have no emotions. I am dead inside’ in a Batman voice. (also christian bale in batman anyone?? gawd dayum)
Now, I know people are into dubcon and CNC, and lowk, if you do it right, I am too. But what in the 🍇 is this?
I mean, even with the scene with his mother and trying to do it with her in front of her, I know it was like a dubcon scene, but BUDDY SHE SAID NO! SHE SAID NO! THAT MEANS YOU BACK THE HELL OFF! I DON’T CARE IF SHE’S YOUR WIFE AND YOU’RE SOME ALPHA MALE AWOO DUDE—NO MEANS NO!
And third, why are you raising your voice at a woman you care about?? And then brushing off her fear like it’s nothing??
Fourth, why do you want to make her hurt?? Just because you are?? Emotional immaturity much? Like, buddy, that’s not alpha male, that’s just being an asshole.
I mean, what did we expect, he’s 27? There’s only supposed to be one baby in this book, sweetheart.
Now, say it with me, Antonio dear—YOU CANNOT FIX YOUR MARRIAGE ISSUES WITH SEX.
That’s not how this works—no wonder your marriage broke off after a MONTH.
And if I found out my HUSBAND was in the goddamn MAFIA, I’d be mad too. But NO, it’s hurting him, so it’s her fault. A REAL man would give her space, let her sort it out, before talking to her—calmly. No sex, no wishing to hurt her, whatever. WHERE HAS THE CHIVALRY GONE?? Learn from Dante Russo and Mr. Larsen and Declan Kane, buddy. They pull off Alpha male WAY better than you ever will.
Thus concludes my Ted Talk, thanks for coming.
But seriously, I’ll be DNF-ing. I just can’t take this.
It’s really, really damn clear that this is a debut novel—and her writing isn’t even THAT bad. It could be way worse. But this is truly awful. One of THE worst books I’ve ever read, and I hand that title out like a poor man would hand out gold bars.
So, if you’re a brown baddie like myself, or any baddie of the female population looking for some representation while reading a Mafia book—just don’t. Scroll your hot ass all the way away from this book. Bury that pretty nose in another book. You’ll thank me later.

This book captivated me from start to finish!! It dives deep into Divya's internal conflict as she fights her feelings for Antonio, taking the reader on the emotional rollercoaster with her. I liked how Sophia developed Divya's relationship with Cora, Antonio's daughter, which placed more weight on Divya's decisions towards the end of the book.
Their relationship is a slow burn and a perfect example of the enemies-to-lovers trope. There are heated arguments, make-ups, break-ups, and everything in between! The dialogue between Divya and Antonio is particularly well-written, which adds realism perfectly.
As an avid reader of dark mafia romances, it was nice to see some more depth in this one. Sophia doesn't shy away from authentically portraying Divya's grief for her parents, resulting in some lovely, heartfelt, honest confessions.
The intimate scenes are really well-written and don't feel contrived or unrealistic, as many books in the genre tend to.
I also loved how Rosa and Armando are developed characters with their own backstory rather than just characters of convenience. Every character in the book is three-dimensional and serves a purpose in the plot.
With all the ups and downs throughout, this book definitely kept me on my toes! I can't wait for book 2!
“Let me show you how much you like my filthy words."
This book was like the milk and sugar to my coffee in the morning - because I can't drink my coffee without these two things. The tropes for this book was exactly like that for me. Steam, running away from feelings and then coming back for remedy. This book has it all.
I was so excited to read this book and I have to say that it didn't disappoint at all. Sophia Raz has a perfect balance between sass and warmth that I'm pretty sure she writes to make her readers go insane. Like me heheh.
There is a nanny, a cute baby and there is ✨chemistry ✨
Nanny to the Mafia isn't just just a hot, mafia, arranged-marriage book. No, it's about Divya and her journey to believe in passion, because for her, passion is not real. It's an illusion. Antonio, as confused and hot he is about his feelings, is yet to find out just how real this passion feels, and to show her? You're going to have to get your hands on this book to find out.
Thank you for writing such an amazing book Sophia. Being one of my favorite genres, I really enjoyed reading it.
Italy meets India in this epic lovestory about a nanny who gets herself entangled with the Sicilian Mafia, and fights to come out of the deal unscathed. Buuut lets be honest, no one in their right mind wouldn't want to cross paths (or sheets) with Antonio, who could talk your panties off with a few italian glosses 🫠
Usually I'm reading 3 books at a time, but I had to put everything else on hold because my mind kept drifting to Divya and Antonio, and their game to keep his psych0 ex-wife away from his little daughter Cora. I was so invested in the story and quickly fell in love with interracial aspect that brought so much more to the characters than I had imagined.
And no, this is not a comparison because the plots are nothing alike, but the vibes are screaming of 365 days, so if you love that movie as much as me, this is definitely a book for you 😍😍
Okay so story line was decent but way too long way too much drama this could have been at least 100-50 pages short. Prologue didn’t make any sense or difference. But spice was good 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is a nanny X single dad, mafia romance with marriage of convenience, Indian X British FMC. Smut was 3/5 on the spice scale and its a HEA. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan of this book. I was excited for it, but nope I wasn’t a fan.
The FMC is contradictory in her attitude. We literally go from the end of one chapter where she HATES the MMC, and then the very first line of the next chapter she is professing that she loves him?? Every single thing is “what is X about? I could ask the other adult, but why would I? Let me just get stupid fuckin angry instead and make a scene!” For EVERY. SINGLE. THING. That’s why this book is so long. Because despire being ‘mature’ characters, it reads worse than 13yo Wattpad high school drama.
Not to mention the language issue. The FMC only speaks English. That’s fine. The MMC speaks Italian and English. Also fine. The FMC pingpongs between hating that people speak Italian around her constantly, to being oblivious. Not to mention she is apparently learning the language, and we never get a timeframe in the book but you’re telling me with CONSTANT exposure she has no idea what basic key words mean?? One of the side chatacters EXCLUSIVELY speaks Italian for fuck’s sake??
^ to piggyback off of that one, both MCs are fluent in English, or at least that’s how it comes across for 80% of the book. But there are occassional sentences or phrases, and towards the end it morphs to whole conversations, where it reads stilted like a non-native English speaker..? For majority, the *spoken in Italian but written in English* dialogue is fluently English but then on the odd occasion again it isn’t and that is super jarring..
And then finally: how can you have all those pages and not a single page of chemistry? Besides lust (where the MMC basically uses the FMC as a hole to fuck and not in the consensually sexy way and the FMC is not okay with that but also apparently very fine with that??) there isn’t a single spark. The FMC goes from actively spewing vitriol in her monologues to the literal next sentence having wet panties and getting ready to ride the guy.. HE IS AN ASSHOLE BABE. DO BETTER. Neither character was likable, but I’ll add a
• • • • • • • • • The FMC, post 50% of the book when they’re tryna make it work, kisses her abusive asshole ex IN HER HUSBAND’S HOME, hides it from him, gets mad that the husband is mad and jealous, and cannot fathom how that’s wrong??? She’s all “I dont get what his issue is? I just had to try it.” Baby you should try having some self respect what the fuck..
Honestly I don't know how this book even has 5 star reviews seriously like it's either fake reviews or somehow lack the sense of what a good book is I was so frustrated with this book Even since the starting the mmc is shown obsessed with fmc which is fine but what the hell is wrong with him? A week has not passed since she met him and he's wondering the colour of her nipples?oh come on it was bearable in the start but holy mother of potatoes there was no plot I don't know what plot the reviewers have been taking about There was no storyline, no plot just sheer smut and dumbness the story didn't have a backbone it was only based on getting fmc and mmc together with cliche cringe things happening alongside plotting mother in law, a mmc who cannot control his dick when see the fmc, irritatingly possessive and jealous (like seriously he was jealous of a couch because her tittes were pressed there?) Honestly he only thought about getting his weeny in her pants 99% of the book, 0 consideration of her feelings, he was always turned on jealous of everything that lives in the same earth as divya seriously if I talk about "his very alpha gigachad possessive jealous hot male energy" I might write a hate book longer than this thing the author wrote And the fmc?dumb no self respect no brain honestly if I start writing again about how horrendous the scenes were i might write a book if you're thinking of reading this DON'T it's a waste of time money and your neurons but yes do read it because I want everyone to suffer like I did🥰 there's no option for 0 stars I would do it honestly it's that bad Also the smut is also horrendous unrealistic and just creep and eww the author tried to make divya look like the epitome of innocence, a angel (i can't count how many times the mmc said "oh I can't tell her about what i do she's so innocent"like yeah shit up bitvh) But honestly she looked like a cracknut While the author went for a dominant alpha male vibe for the mmc He just seemed seemed like sex deprevied, high on something that is specifically not from earth(cause since when did we have started having things like him?ew) hormone level highly imbalanced teenager (even though he's half way through his very ugly irritating life) also he's 35 or something and she's 25 Creep I hold no grudges against the author I really understand what she tried going to but yeah....no don't try like that again no character development is also a very irritating trait in this book btw this wasn't for me at all It looked more like a story from Wattpad seriously that one too very bad if you think you like the above as I said then go ahead it's cliche like that But someone who has a sense of proper well written plot character development nice banter and what not it's not for you I have torched myself enough you don't need to do that sweetheart Again to the author try something else

This is my first book of Sophia Raz, and I had a good experience.
One, I liked the diversity in the book. I believe this is my first time of reading a book with an Indian female lead, so it was fun to see, especially with the incorporation of Indian culture into the book. I also liked the fl, even if she acted quite silly towards the end. Knowing all the forces that were against her, I didn't expect her to fall for that trick. Also, there were moments she could have directly questioned the ML, but she kept beating around the bush to the point of annoyance.
And the ML? A moron, that one. Once or twice he gets in trouble for keeping secrets from her, and guess what his next step is? Keeping more secrets! Sounds ‘very’ smart for someone with the amount of power he does.
Anyway, their banter was fun. We got some backstory into the fl, but for the ml, there wasn't much on his end. Just a little about his mafia parents and upbringing. I would have loved more depth from him, and I think this made it hard for me to connect with him. Got tired of the mother’s witchy attitude, which is a testament to how well it was portrayed.
A few things left me confused, that’s why I’m keeping one star to myself. 1. The prologue was set up in such a way that led me to believe the lady mentioned there was the fl. I loved her and the way she was described, so I was disappointed when the story progressed and I saw a different name at the top of the chapter. Still on the prologue, it gave the impression that there was something that would happen. At the end of the book, nothing in the story could be linked back to the prologue. Which had me wondering what the point of it was.
2. The ml calls the fl ex-boyfriend Harris but in all of the fl’s chapter, he’s known as Adam. So it took a while for me to understand that it was the same person, which left me with more questions: what’s the relationship between the ml and her ex for him to even know him by another name?
3. I didn’t really get the mafia vibes from it. What do I mean? Take away the mafia word used in the story, and it’s a contemporary billionaire romance with a ml who goes out of town often for business and leaves his home in the care of bodyguards amongst other staff. There wasn’t any “showing” of the mafia world. All we do is hear of the things mafia does, but we never saw it. I wasn't satisfied with the Harris scene because I didn't realise early enough that it was the fl's ex, so it wasn't satisfactory.
That being said, if you love these tropes: - insta lust - billionaire romance - interracial romance - pet name in another language - spicy scenes - single dad - nanny romance - banter - she falls first but he falls harder Then you have come to the right book. This is the first of a series, and can be read as a standalone.
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up for rating) Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5
It is wild to me that this was Sophia Raz’s debut novel as an indie author, as it didn’t feel like one. This was a well-written, mafia-light story with complex characters, relatable emotions, and the sexual tension between the two MCs was 🔥

Antonio, being appointed consigliere as the Cosa Nostra at the young age of 30, speaks volumes about the respect earned from the don. As such, Antonio has left Italy to come to the States to help legitimize some of the businesses for the family. While in Boston, Antonio forges ties with the Bratva by marrying a mafia princess and unsurprisingly, it isn’t a match made in heaven. Now divorced, Antonio is fighting for full custody of his daughter and is in need of help due to the unique hours and duties of his job.
It should have been a simple task: find a nanny for his daughter.
But then, she shows up on his doorstep and she breathes a need into Antonio that makes him lose his carefully crafted control. Antonio is determined to find a way to make her stay with him.
Down on her luck after her ex gambled away her inheritance, Divya went to Antonio to fulfill her financial needs. What she didn’t expect was to have her world turned upside down and now she’s wondering if the electrifying tension she feels is only one-sided. When Antonio proposes a way to rid her of her financial troubles, a marriage of convenience to help him gain custody of his daughter, Divya is positive that she will get burned.
Will Divya be able to forgive Antonio’s secrets and accept the darkness within him, or will she walk away to protect her heart?
If you enjoy an MMC who thinks he can’t catch feelings and an FMC who brings him to his knees, then give this a try!
