When I wake up in a residential home with little memory of how I got there, I’m forced to rely on my succubus cat, Tabitha, for support. Talk about a nightmare.
It turns out we’re in Whisperwood Manor, where my intuitive friend, Kayla, believes something sinister is making the residents disappear—by devouring them. Is it the cold-blooded administrator? Her staff of ex-cons? Or has the predator melded into the resident population, licking its chops in plain sight?
I need to find out fast, and without getting devoured myself. A challenge given my scant memory and shaky magic, not to mention my outsized dependence on Tabitha, who’s already acting like the Queen of Sheba.
Pray for me.
Croft & Tabby is a spinoff of the popular Prof Croft series, set before the main books. If you like snarky cats, fledgling mages, and supernatural investigations, you'll love Croft & Tabby!
Brad Magnarella writes urban fantasy for the same reason most read it – to explore worlds where magic crackles from fingertips, vampires and shifters walk city streets, cats talk (some excessively), and good prevails against all odds. It’s shamelessly fun.
His three main series, Prof Croft, Blue Wolf, and Maddy Deeds, make up the growing Croftverse, with nearly a half-million books sold to date and an Independent Audiobook Award nomination.
Hopelessly nomadic, Brad can be found in a rented room overseas or hiking America's backcountry.

The best of the Croft and Tabby prequels. People have been disappearing for years from a assisted living house. So Croft and Tabby go undercover to uncover the answer. Hijinks ensue
Excellent EXCELLENT book!!! What an AMAZING ADVENTURE!!! All of Brad Magnarella's books are incredibly imaginative but THIS ONE!! WOW. it's definitely a contender for 1st place on that list. I laughed, and laughed, cried a bit, and was scared a LOT then a LOT more. One of my many worst nightmares is in this book and now I will definitely never be able to let my feet or arms hang over the side of a bed --EVER again.
This book is full of snark--Tabitha is in it so, SNARK FEST!! Lots of twists n turns and a really good mystery with a really WEIRD grandpa in it!!! Almost died laughing at that part. Then he shows up a few more times and it's not quite as funny-at all.
I'll be reading this book over n over again!!! it is THAT GOOD!
What’s better than Professor Croft? Tabby! Well, OK, maybe not better. A better book, adventure, craziness, personality? In this new book, part of the series called Croft and tabby, Croft wakes up in a residential home that takes care of people. All drugged up and can’t remember a thing! With tabby reminding him about a few things, Croft remembers a bit and gets on the go! Will he be able to find out what’s going on? Why people are dying? Well, you’ll just have to read it and find out. It’s not that long and it’s funny as usual. Just got to love that Tabby!
I did not see it coming. At all. Kayla is back in this one and her augury has Croft and Tabitha in the midst of a strange case. The case is interesting, the characters diverse and weird (in the best ways), and a story line that had me engaged but also clueless until the end. Croft and Tabby leave me smiling every single time. From Tabby's demands and sarcasm to Croft's pretend irritation and crazy ideas, I truly do laugh out loud at their antics. The absolute best is the way this one ends. Tabitha just doesn't know whether to be happy or angry and I was rolling. This short tale was soo twisty. I can't wait for more!
Yet another fun adventure from Croft and Tabby's early days. These stories have been a wonderful way to showcase these two characters in less world ending adventures than the main series, with unusual and unexpected threats. Croft starts with a wee bit of memory loss, letting Tabby take a lead as we work backwards toward the source of the case itself and its messy, but satisfying conclusion.
The author combines a seers gift with a need to protect and we get this new tale. Our characters are pushed but their gifts respond. Add in some mysterious new myth to decipher and the resulting baddie is defeated. Then, of course, come the rewards and those are as humorous as they are practical.
Absolutely fantastic! I definitely didn't see the twists and turns coming! Croft, Kayla and Tabby are so well written as is the story. In the continuing saga of the Croft and Tabby series, this one has an eerie setting where most of us fear we could end up as we get older, lol. Well researched if I am being honest about myths. Great read!!!
Tabitha is the heroine in this one. I have never understood why Brad is so mean to her... My biggest boy, Hampissimus Maximus Imperator Rex, tells me to tell you that 12 kilograms is not overweight if you are part Norwegian Forrest. At least one kg is fur...
Emerson goes under cover in a home because Kayla says people are being eaten there. With everyone being medicated to sleep Emerson and Tabby have their work cut out for them....Is Emerson up to the task this time? or will he as Kayla has seen be eaten???
Better than the previous 3 books of this series and I really like that Tabby is, while still a snarky brat, at least getting a little possessive of her human keeper.
This fourth instalment of the Croft and Tabby prequel series is so much fun. Croft wakes up in a strange room, with no memory of how he got there. The only familiar sight is Tabitha, who tells him everything is ready and to follow her. As his memories begin to return, the one that worries him most is Kayla’s premonition that he would be eaten that weekend.
Without his memory, can Croft solve whatever mystery he came here (wherever here is) to investigate before Kayla’s premonition comes true? And, more worryingly, what did he promise Tabitha in order to secure her assistance on this mission?
A short but hilarious mini-adventure from the early days of Croft and Tabby’s relationship. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another short adventure with Everson and his succubus sidekick cat Tabitha!! I love when Brad writes these little adventures as they are good fun but also help build on their relationship together.
Usually enjoy the Croft stories, but not this one. Professor Croft needs to up his game and his powers, this story not worthy of the authors other series.
This book is worth your time if you're a Dresden fan. Croft is in that vein. Tabitha is a joy...uh.yeah. There needs to be more of her in future pieces. Great work!
Another good read by the author, nice action great response to oops I screwed that up as far as the main character goals and who could go wrong with tabby. Good read!
