Laurel Ulen Curtis is a 28 year old mother of one. She lives with her husband and son (and cat!) in New Jersey, but grew up all over the United States. She graduated from Rutgers University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, and puts that to almost no use other than forecasting for her friends! She has a passion for her family, laughing, and reading and writing Romance novels. Oh, and she's addicted to Coke. The drink, not the drug.
The good news: I loved this story!! The bad news: It's a novella so you fall in love and then have to say goodbye too quickly...sigh. Laurel Ulen Curtis has such a delightfully quirky way of writing. Her books make me laugh out loud every time I read one. It's one of those books where you find yourself smiling throughout most of the book (although there's a few minutes where you truly worry about this pair). I can hardly wait for more of her work!!
I read this as part of the Southern Seduction Box Set and it has been one of my favorites so far. There were so many parts that made me giggle. A line that particularly made me burst out with laughter was "After this is over, we'll have a ball reattachment ceremony." There were so many lines like this! It was great!
As was said in a previous review, I did not think the prologue was necessary, either. It kind of confused me. I would have preferred just a brief overview.
I would've liked to have had it continued. I seem to have hard time with shorter stories. I feel that a lot of them could go so much further, like this one. Zoey mentioned towards the end that she and Miller would get to know one another more. I think that would've been something interesting to read. Overall, I'm glad I read it!
I didn't read the synopsis of this story before starting to read it, so didn't know what I was getting myself into. It was another one that I really didn't think I'd enjoy at the beginning. TBH the prologue was unnecessary, as it is repeated within the story almost word for word. Plus to me a prologue is for a bit of background to something that has taken place before the actual story itself. So having an excerpt from the story as a prologue was rather strange.
Anyways this ended up being a really fun story, I just wish it were longer, as I really want to know what happens next for them. I'll definitely be looking out for other work by this author.
