Jumping back into the world of liar liar. Been a while. in fact, i finished volume 1 March 23rd of 2024. so wow yeah. just a tiny bit over a year since i read volume 1. i thought i'd have a little trouble remembering what was going on in this series as its been a while, but nah. It was pretty easy to pick back up.
This volume has the MC having to face off in a contest which wouldn't lose him any stars if he loses, but he'd lose face if he lost the contest. Besides that something's up with his maid, and also there's a 6 star at the school trying to beat him.
I was able to read this volume in essentially the span of 2 days. this one is a very quick read and the action moves pretty fast. Just like the first one, the "battles" are really just battles of wits and games between the different characters. there's never anything as scary as lives on the line or anything like that, just humiliation and possible life being ruined if the secrets of his lying ever came out. (okay i guess that's pretty bad too).
Having finished the 2nd volume now, i can say that i'm liking the quiet maid Himeji a lot more, and i'm really not a big fan of red haired girl (the one on the cover on this volume). too annoying for my taste and just trying too hard.
i find the little games they play in this one interesting and, despite lying his way to the top is able to keep going and defeat the challengers he comes across. The MC, while not being the most entertaining or fun character in existence, isn't entirely frustrating or annoying like many others i've come across in novels.
That being said, still enjoyed it and will give it a solid 3.5 out of 5. but because i can't do 1/2's, i'll round it up to a 4.
3.5/5, rounded up to a 4.
Not much else to say. if you liked volume 1, you'll like volume 2. the quality didn't drop drastically and there are some nice moments. will be reading volume 3.
