I’m so obsessed with this I’m angry it’s taken this long to get an adult debut from this author!! Like ok I guess I’m going to go read the entire Skandar series while I wait for book 2 of this.
And yes, it is queer!!

April 22, 2024This sounds amazing but I am little worried about pacing, world-building, time-travel, plot, and romance--all in the frame of 368 pages. It's seems like a daunting work but I have hope the author can do it and am very excited for the release.

I received this in an early campaign from Solstice, so this is a genuine (if very early) review.
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. There was a surprise/reveal/twist in every chapter and it made the pacing phenomenal. I did wonder how the many genres would blend in this story; and I can confirm is was done brilliantly.
I completely fell in love with the characters. I felt their excitement, their frustration, their fear. It was incredible. I was always guessing (and being proven wrong) about the plot which made it such a fun experience as a reader. The romantic elements are handled fantastically, and at the heart of the story is always the FMC. No other character can change who she fundamentally is and this was again so refreshing to see in a story with a touch of romance.
I want to go back in time and relive it all again.

If I could give this book a 6⭐️ rating then I absolutely would.
Oh. My. Goodness. This was such a refreshing, high-stakes, hot fantasy novel involving time travel, magic, and so much back-stabbing that my mind was well and truly blown.
The character work is where Steadman shines the most. Within a few moments of meeting each character you can picture them, you get an instant sense of who they are while still being surprised by some of their very realistic and human decisions throughout the story. The relationships are messy and complicated and I loved them ALL. Way to make me fall for 3 very different MMCs 👀
The pacing was relatively fast and intense, I was completely hooked from the first page, but even with this faster pace we didn’t lose any detail in the setting or characters because the author is an expert at setting the scene.
Look, this book is violent and it’s sexy and you absolutely need to add this to your TBR immediately!
I will be (impatiently) waiting for news on book 2 because I’m gnawing at the bars of my enclosure after that ending!!!

Absolutely blessed to have been granted an early copy of this! Utterly devoured in two sittings, I have laughed, cried and gasped my way through this book. The characters, the plot, the pacing, the writing!! *chefs kiss*. Impossible to put down, impossible not to love, I cannot wait to see it take the world by storm! ⏳⚔️

I loved this so much - absolutely insane that it is her debut adult fantasy!
It was like a cross between Heroes of Olympus and the TVA from Marvel’s Loki. The pacing was perfect, the characters were so well fleshed out, the banter was so satisfying, and the storyline never quite went where you expected. SUCH a fun read!
Also, I got Leo Valdez vibes so quickly and was not disappointed - IN LOVE

OMG this book is phenomenal! Time travel, mystery and so many twists it will make your head spin.
