Despite everything I've done, my kingdom is falling apart. To overturn the murderous sorcerers determined to remake the realm into something wild and cruel, we must rely an unexpected heir to the throne.
But the first fault lines started dividing our country centuries ago. We can't reach toward the past for absolution.
The men I love and the allies we've gathered will have to build a new future. And I'd sacrifice anything to know I've finally set things right... even my hard-won happiness.
It's time to find out whether I'm worthy of staying in this world I've fought so desperately to save.
*Lady of Doom and Devotion is the fourth and final book in a new fantasy romance series full of forbidden magic, impossible love, hot damaged men, and a rebellious heroine who's so much more than she imagines.*
Eva Chase lives in Canada with her family. She loves stories both swoony and supernatural, and strong women and the men who appreciate them. You can visit her online at www.evachase.com.
Why? Why did you have to ruin the entire story Eva Chase? Do we not get enough of the LGBTQ+ agenda every day in the real world? You really had to bring a transgender child into the equation and then push it even further by having the character question why they had to wait until they were12 to "transition" when they knew when they were younger? You set the story back in a time with castles, kings, and women wearing gowns, and then you throw in radical 21st century ideology? I was already struggling getting through this series, but that just sealed the deal for me. Why couldn't you just keep that crap out of your story. I don't care if adult characters are gay or bisexual in their romantic relationships with romance novels. I don't accept children being transgender. I don't accept children being able to destroy their bodies. I certainly hope this isn't the road you plan to go down in the future because I will not ever read your books again if so. Keep your controversial political views to yourself and keep your stories away from things like transgenderism. If you plan on writing about it then at least give trigger warnings for people like me who think only adults should make decisions like chopping off body parts. The story saying it's the "gift" requested of the gods doesn't make it ok. I'm so mad you ruined it!
What a great end to this series! I have loved this series, and I'm sad I've reached the end. I'm excited to read about Prince Bastian and learn more about him in The Royal Spares series, so I'm glad we have more from this fascinating world!
The characters in this series have gone through a lot, from where we start the series to where we end is not what I expected. I had a lot of fun throughout, and we got answers to most of my questions.
This was my first Eva Chase series, and it certainly won't be the last - there's a huge back catalogue for me to dive into, now to decide which series is next!
I'm sorry, but no. I give up. Why bother to have 3 books if the whole time we could control any random human? Because ivy is a random human and not a clay bodied magic made human which is controlled through that magic. If we could have done this why didnt we do this at any point in time to kill the king and overthrow the family in charge? I eman they could have made the king do it himself.
Now I feel like I've wasted my time reading the other books and that annoys me enough that I honestly don't care anymore about what happens in this book. DNF.
Series finales. Both my favorite and least favorite books in series. I love it when things come together, when authors show us how their characters find their happily ever after. I don't like saying goodbye to these characters and their worlds. However, the previous book in this series had a terrible cliffhanger. In this case there really was no way I was not gonna read the last book. And luckily, apart from getting the paperback, I also got a review copy via BookSirens.
This last book is filled with plotting, planning and politics. There is no relationship drama anymore. These characters love each other, they've established that they belong together and they have developed a certain kind of dynamic. In this book they focus on strengthening their bond, but they most of all focus on saving their kingdom. And since the enemy is quite smart and intelligent, they need to be too.
Although the talking can get a little bit boring at times, it's also really intriguing to see a plan come together. Especially because we see how they constantly have to adapt and change their approach because of what the enemy does or says. And I will forgive the author for using a deus ex machina in this case to eventually solve the biggest issues. If you created Gods and if you gave them the power to communicate with people, it would be a shame not to use it indeed.
I also like how the author sets up the new series set in this world. I already felt like there could be so much more story to tell and luckily I wasn't the only one feeling that. I absolutely loved meeting the characters starring in the spin-off in the last chapter of the book. It will be a long wait until September, but luckily that gives me time to catch up with some other books by this author. I still have some unread ones on the shelves!
So disappointed that this is the last book in the series, but I am very glad to hear there is a new series coming in the world. Absolutely loved everything about this book!
After four books, I still can't stop thinking about Stavros hook. That can't be possible? Seriously? You would get so injured and need medical attention if someone tried doing that. Could you imagine trying to explain that to the doctor? Ummm... my bf ripped my privates with his hook during spicy time??? I can't possibly be the only one who got stuck on that.
Anyway... the final novel does a great job wrapping up the series, without leaving the readers wanting. Although I am sad to leave the characters behind, it will be good to explore everything else with new characters.
Absolutely loved this book and it was a fantastic ending to this series and I love that this world won't end. The world building was so unique and heartbreaking at times.
This was a great ending to a great series. Finally questions were answered and Ivy can’t go without the fight of her life. This was a great story with great characters. I’m looking forward to Prince Bastian story.
Honestly the last book of a series is generally my favorite. The way everything comes together and resolves just feels so amazing! And Debbie Cassidy did not disappoint with this series conclusion! More spicy scenes, more plot twists, more conflict and struggles for Ivy and her men to get through. Ivy in particular is ready to put everything on the line to save everyone from the Scourge Sorcerers...
Loved one returning character in particular. It was great getting to know her more and she definitely proved to be inspiring and relatable. The book was balanced with great pacing as always, and just everything was woven together with the author's predictably amazing writing capabilities.
Highly recommend this series and everything by this gold-standard author!
DNF. I didn't like the plot twist for one of the characters early in the book. I was planning on just reading on, but then Ivy had to go into a very modern political schpeal on the whole thing that just completely took me out of the story. It's too bad because I really enjoyed the rest of the series, but I don't read fantasy books to have modern ideologies shoved down my throat. I hope that if I come across this author again, she just let's her books be the escape from real life they should be 🤷.
The first two books were so promising. But this one, this was a struggle. I was bored. It was chaotic and felt a little disjointed. The premise of the series was amazing but the ending fell flat. Everything was resolved kind of but it felt just meh. HEA with all her guys but that’s about it.
I came into this strong. I knew the characters, I knew the general plot, I thought I knew which way the story was going to go. As the last book in a series, there were plenty of twists and turns that led me to unexpected places. I was reading on kindle and as I reached 71%, I was thinking that perhaps this wasn’t the last book in the series, I wasn’t sure how everything would fit in neatly to the end.
By this point in the series, surprises are expected because there is a lot of information that has yet to be answered, and the characters have grown enough to value and accept the answers given.
I had foreseen many scenarios that the book could move towards. In having Ivy instrumental in the final outcome but not the ‘crowned’ final outcome opened more possibilities as to where her character and her quartet of men could go. I think it also takes a little bit of pressure off the character. Having Petra as the one to conquer come the finale shapes the characters in a better way.
I’ll admit, I didn’t see the Petra bit coming. She had been a character from the first two books who I didn’t spend much time thinking on. She was more of a fly to bat away. So, to see her come front and centre was interesting and unexpected. Seeing her dynamic with Ivy was a breath of fresh air that I hadn’t realised I needed.
Ivy’s situation has always been precarious. Magic in a land where magic is feared. Riven when rivens are executed. Outside of her four men, very little people trust her and what she can do. I can’t imagine having the weight of all that judgement on her. I can’t imagine the feeling that everyone is just waiting for the one wrong move so they can condemn her.
Overall, in terms of Ivy, I think this addition to the series reminded her of what she can accomplish outside of her magic, and that she is more than the magic trapped inside her. Obviously, her magic is a problem, but for many of us in real life who manage life with various problems, coming to the realisation that you matter outside of that problem is incredibly relatable.
Lother … well for the main villain his series ending was justified and slightly comical. As Ivy posed questions to him, I came to the same realisation as she did, and I realised that yes, I’d never noticed the inconsistencies either. I suppose the main aspect of the plot was always going to be Ivy unleashing her power to ‘save the day’. From the set up of this event, even all the way back in book one, I was uncertain as to whether she would survive the ordeal. I think Eva Chase did a good job of misdirecting the reader into multiple possibilities before revealing the truth in the climatic end.
Ivy, Stavros, Alek, Casmir, and Rheave have come a long way as characters. Ivy we’ve already talked about. Stavros seemed to remember how to have fun, how to be happy, and how to continue being a General without relying on his gift to get him by. He became acceptant of Ivy’s magic and while he was the last of the original trio to fall for her, his character evolution fitted nicely.
Alek learned to appreciate himself for just that. He learned to love his face, scars and all and to not let the opinions of others tear down his confidence. As a scholar I saw him struggle to find his place in the quartet and to work out what skills he could bring to the table. With Ivy, he opened up, he became unguarded. He began to feel important and ultimately got to the point where he appreciated himself and the life he had been given.
Casmir the courtesan. Well, he learned that he didn’t have to be a courtesan. He learned that his gift could be put to others uses. That his ability to please people didn’t have to be sexual. He learned that he didn’t have to hold the burden of his mother’s teachings over his head and that he could be unapologetically himself. With Ivy he learned to unwind, to appreciate being pampered also. He learned other ways of using his gift.
Rheave, the last of the quartet, the daimon spirit. There are so many things that Rheave learnt. Things that we take for granted that to him were so wonderful first-time experiences. He was good for Ivy, he made her appreciate the little things, to find acceptance where there is none. He learned to be human.
I enjoyed this series, it wasn’t as hot and heavy as some of her other series, nor as long but I enjoyed the plot, the characters and the spattering of smut.

This has been a long journey but, it was a pretty great ending to the series!
I still absolutely adore Ivy - she has been through so much and that girl just stands tall even if she does falter for a bit. I'm glad she got the HEA she deserves because our girl deserved it.
Casmir - our sweet, loving and loyal man. He kept his rank as my favorite through the series. And I loved that even though his gift seemed like it wouldn't come in handy in a war, he was actually so helpful. I actually enjoyed that him and Alek both were not warriors/fighters and that they both relied on other means to help Ivy and set the world right. I enjoyed Alek not having a gift and using his mind/knoweledge instead of having a gift or being adept at being a fighter. Most reverse harems generally have men who are all capable of fighting and I loved seeing two of the four relying on just their wits and personalities to get things done. I adored Alek and how much he grew and came to not care about wearing his mask or feeling inferior to anyone or what they'd think about his scars.
Stavros - he's our main warrior and he was definitely not easy to like early on but, he quickly became so much more. I was so proud of him for putting aside his hatred of rivens for Ivy and realizing he'd been wrong and I loved seeing him find his place again because once he lost his gift and his vision became affected he felt like he was useless. So I loved him finding his own strength and worth again.
And then our sweet golden retriever daimon man - Rheave. He stole my heart so quickly. I loved his enthusiam and joy in the world. I loved how loyal he was and how we got to see him fight with emotions and learning how to be "human". He brought so much joy to their group. He always made me chuckle and smile.
I do feel the series was a bit dragged on, I honestly feel like a lot of the traveling and visiting towns could've been cut down and the story would've still packed a punch. It just felt like 4 books at over 400 pages was a bit much and it seemed like a lot of nothing happened quite often. I did enjoy the series though. Eva is one of my favorite Why Choose authors. And I'm glad I got to read this series. Thank you Eva and Booksirens. 🩷
Personally I feel my rating should be like a 3.5 but, as that's not doable I figured I'd round up!
My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.
Lady of Doom and Devotion by Eva Chase is the final instalment in an exciting why-choose fantasy romance and brings to close the Rites of Possession series. The story picks up from where the earlier book left off with Ivy in the clutches of the leader of The Order of the Wild.
Eva's books are always so well-written and narrated that if you close your eyes whilst listening you are there with the characters able to see and feel everything they do! I was hooked throughout this entire series, annoyed as each book finished knowing I had to wait for the next one to be published. The characters are all well-drawn and interesting and I enjoyed getting to know each of the guys Stavros, Casimir, Rheave, Aleksi and just like Ivy I would have found it impossible to choose between them, each brought something different to the table. Ivy of course didn't have to choose and I love how they all blended into one perfect unit and how supportive the four very different men were of each other and Ivy. I like that we get to hear their points of view throughout the book. It enabled me to get to know each of them and brought them and the story to life.
This is a non-spoiler review so I'm not going to reveal any of the plot but what I will say is that I enjoyed the story very much and found myself immersed in the action and intrigue woven through the plot. The love shared by Ivy and the guys shines through and the narration by Michelle Sparks and Jason Clarke brought every character to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I am excited that there is to be a spin-off series, The Royal Spares and look forward very much to listening to the first book A Game of Veils, the eBook is to be released in September 2024 and I hope that audio version is available soon after.
I would recommend this series to all fans of fantasy why choose romance and slow burn romance,
Overall Thoughts: There is so much you learn and get clarity on in the book, and it is a really nice way of putting a bow on this series. Everything comes together, and as always, Eva gives you a HEA. This was my first romantasy series by Eva, and while it wasn’t my favorite series by her, it was the best written of all her series I’ve listened to so far. Michelle does an emailing job bringing Ivy to life, and I don’t even have to say how talented Jason Clarke was as all of Ivy’s men.
Narration: Dual narration, first-person present tense, multiple-POV with a multiple flashbacks
Tropes: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, secret life, academy, grumpy/sunshine, reverse harem, noble and commoner, military, fighting to save the world, fantasy
Overall: 4
Spice: 3
Humor: 1
Drama: 4
Darkness: 2
This picks up where book 3 left off, and there will be spoilers if you have not read/listened to the first 3 books in the series. Ivy is a fighter and when she finds out what she was taken, she does everything in her power to stop it, if for not other reason that to prove to herself she can.
When her men find her, they find out they have a new challenge. Not only do they need to defeat the Order of the Wild, who are moving closer and closer to their goal of controlling the country, but now they must directly protect the royal family.
By gathering all the people they can, who want to take down the Order of the Wild, a plan comes together that will prove to everyone who the true ruler is. A long-forgotten tradition will help determine the future of the country, and Ivy will stop at nothing to make sure the best person takes the crown.

4.5 stars. This last installment of the Rites of Possession series jammed packed with action, danger, trials, and a little bit of romance thrown into the mix. The character development of Ivy and her men...and even Petra...shines in this edition. The love that Ivy, Casimir, Stavros, Alek and Rheave have for each other has matured into a cohesive unit of trust and devotion. Rheave has struggled with his humanity and emotions but comes into his own and finally feels he belongs. Petra grapples with her ability, qualifications and right to rule. We see her blossom and show her true strengths and convictions. And poor Ivy, ever the outcast due to her riven status, has to make an incredibly hard decision. One that could make or break the evolution of the new world order, not to mention Ivy herself. This book seems more drawn to the perils endured to get Petra on the throne and out of hiding from the Order of the Wild than the romance. But that's ok. The battles that Ivy, her men and allies endure are fraught with magic, danger, destruction, betrayal, and death. But their determination, dedication, trust and love flow throughout to show how far they have come. (Don't worry. There is some romance sprinkled in but artfully so at appropriate points.) There were a few parts that seemed to drag on a bit...made it a bit tedious...the ideas could have been concluded a bit quicker to allow better flow. But overall, a wonderful closure to the series. Great job again, Eva Chase!

A highly satisfying and cathartic ending to a well-paced and well-written series.
This book very much felt like a final book. All the questions had satisfying answers, the plot points all wrapped up well, and we left this series feeling that these characters would all live happily ever after. There was a lot of political intrigue in this book, more than in the previous books. But with all of it, it left me feeling that this country and these people would thrive in the future.
The romance took a back seat in this book, yet the connections between all the group members only became stronger. I especially enjoyed seeing all the interactions between the men and got to see the deep trust and support between them.
This will be a series that I will highly recommend to experienced and new fantasy romance readers. Especially for readers new to the genre, this series has everything they need to ease them into it - a well-detailed and understandable magic system, descriptive world-building without being info-dumps, characters that make understandable decisions and have relatable traits, and just enough *spice* to keep you excited about the budding romance. This would also be an excellent series for those interested in reading a why-choose romance for the first time. The romance is certainly prevalent, but it isn't the sole focus of this series. It doesn't feel taboo whatsoever.
Thank you to BookSirens and Eva Chase for a digital advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
In this book Eva Chase brings the series to a satisfying end, as Ivy fully becomes the new Signy of the Abandoned Realms. After the cliffhanger ending of the previous book, I was pleased that those dire straits didn’t go on too long, and that the book then went off in new and interesting directions en route to its HEA. I loved the climactic scene where the godlen project a vision of peace and love through Ivy’s riven soul.
I realize this is basically Ivy’s story, but I do wish there had been more chapters from the perspectives of Ivy’s four men. However, as I can’t imagine leaving out any of Ivy’s chapters, what I’m wishing for would have made the book considerably longer. Which I wouldn’t have minded at all, but is probably not realistic. Still, I would have liked to read more from each of them. I enjoyed the character growth of all four men, the three humans overcoming their inner demons and the daimon learning how to be human.
I did sometimes get impatient with Ivy’s devotion to King Konram, who never did anything to deserve her loyalty. I felt she should have retained more of her outer ward skepticism about the royal family than she showed. It made more sense when it came to Petra, who did deserve loyalty, and will make an excellent queen. I think it would have been preferable to see Ivy gradually warming to Petra, after giving Konram more grudging service, rather than jumping all in from the start. But that’s a fairly minor quibble about a really very good book.
There was a good amount of spice, as Ivy spent quality time with her men individually and also as a group, but it never overpowered the story.
The epilogue introduces an intriguing new character, a prince from the Darium empire, and I’m already looking forward to the next series, where he will be a focal character.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This series is one of those rare RH reads that prioritise a good plot well above numerous smutty scenes, so if that's not your thing, you probably won't enjoy this series.
For my part, I'm truly thankful to Ms Chase for creating such an engrossing world.
This 4th and final book was the bleakeast so far. I struggled to get behind Ivy's self-sacrifice for a king and country that - right until 90% - still wanted her dead.
I actually started to wonder if she would even survive to get her HEA in the end, which, thankfully she does. Although the "deus ex machina" way it all got resolved wasn't to my taste.
I still feel that perhaps the Melchioreks' time was over and a new family should have taken the reigns, but I'm mostly satisfied with how the future of riven sorcerers was handled in the final scenes.
While the lack of smut didn't bother me, I would have liked to see a bit more romance, particularly with Stavros, since Rheave and Casimir edged him out of the spotlight in books 3 and 4.
Alek was still his usual ineffectual self. It's a shame because he seemed so intriguing in book 1 but ended up so bland. I struggled to see what value he added to Ivy or the rest.
All in all, this was still an incredibly epic fantasy story, with the world building and writing to match, so I'll definitely be reading the follow up series. Hopefully the magic continues.
Stavros (General, retired, missing hand), Ivy (Riven:super powerful with use of that power can drive her mad), Julita (Riding along in Ivy’s head), Casimir (gives pleasure for clients), Alek (scholar), Rheave (Damon in human body)
This one picks up where the last book left off. SPOILERS AHEAD. Ivy is taken by some Scroge sorcerer’s, when she is forced to do horrible things. The guys are searching for her when they find the children of the king and queen. I can’t say more without giving too much away to be honest. It goes fast paced from there.
I really enjoyed this series by Eva Chase. I’m also looking forward to spin off series. The narration for this was also really good. Jason Clarke (LOVE HIS VOICE) and Michelle Sparks did an amazing job for this. These two meshed well together, my only wish was that this was duet narration. That would have elevated this series so much. Not saying the books weren’t good but I’ve been spoiled with other audiobooks that do it and it elevates it to a whole nother level. I WAITED for the audiobook to come out before I finished this story. I didn’t want to read it without Jason and Michelle narrating it for me. I did the other audiobooks for this series so I needed to do this story, characters, author, and narrators justice by waiting for the audiobook. I’m a patient girl.
Pros: political intrigue, twisty turns which didn’t always surprise me but did contribute more than just suspense, the FMC is likable and strong in ways beyond her magic, the magic system itself is unique, and I appreciate the villains as being multifaceted and realistic in how they played the masses with motives that reflect a real world dynamic (class disparity, fear propaganda, manipulation of the weak/innocent)
Cons: drags on and took a long time to finish (for me that is about a month), I feel like there was a lot of stress placed on emotional turmoil the characters were experiencing without enough conflict to back the authenticity of the experience to involve me as a reader- the most real conflict I can immediately source is Stavros inherent distrust of Ivy after finding out she is Riven, otherwise it is pretty standard unhappy-family dynamic tropes which seemed slightly overplayed. Favorite internal conflict was definitely Ivy’s struggle to accept her magic and worthiness.
Would I recommend the series to everyone? Not necessarily, but I would say if you are interested in political machinations, a unique magic system, and willing to commit to a series that can drag on at times- go for it! You won’t necessarily regret it and you might even love it! I just am a glutton for action so I have settled on a score of 3.25/5.
What a perfect end to such a riveting series! I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for this whole book. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the final installment in this series, and it absolutely did not disappoint!
My favorite parts of this whole series is seeing all the crazy situations Ivy and her men get themselves into and how they get out of them. If you’re like me in that regard, there’s plenty that will keep you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved it.
Ivy is a straight bad@$$ even with all her insecurities and doubts (which are quite understandable). I absolutely love how her men’s trust and love in her is steadfast and unwavering regardless of the scenario. The utter devotion they show her is beautiful.
The way this story unfolds. All the missions and turmoil the characters embark upon and face while never giving up is inspiring. The conclusion was better than I even imagined it would be.
I have to say that Eva is quite possibly my favorite fantasy author! I’ve yet to read a book of hers that hasn’t completely gripped me and pulled me into the world. Thank you so much for sharing your books with us. 💜
I’d give this series 10 stars if I could!
I did receive an advance copy, and this is my honest review.
This is my review for this entire series as a whole. To be honest, this series was just too slow for me. Eva Chase books are usually known for their fast pacing that keeps them interesting, a bit like eating fast food. Is it exceptional high quality? No but it's fast and does the job and that's enough. This series is a lot slower, both in the overarching fantasy plot department and the romance department, and because of that I found myself getting bored a lot and struggling to maintain attention and stay focused. I found the overarching fantasy plot very interesting, but it moved at such a slow pace it kinda killed my interest in this series. I'm glad this series focused less on the romance, because I don't think I could've put up with 2000+ pages of smut. That being said, I just needed a bit more action in this series, and I don't mean combat, I just mean more actually happening instead of endless talking. This entire series is just full with so much internal emotional turmoil and angst but I just needed more actual plot. I also didn't really like any of the characters except Julita, and her forced friendship with Ivy, I was sad she wasn't in this final book. I'm glad I'm done with this series.
The last installment of the rites of possession story, and let's say did the chaos pursue in this book...
Rheave is finally established in her group as they all grow and develop, the world around them throws more obstacles at them. With ivy being a riven, and people still not fully trusting her, she attempts to help get Petra on the throne.
What makes me extremely happy is that her men do have complete and utter trust in her. No matter what happens, they always stay by here side, even when something seemingly deceitful in the first few chapters happen. I absolutely loved them and it was amazing character development from the first two books.
This book is mostly action and plot, so if you like a fantasy world that doesn't just revolve around romance this is for you. Although personally I did feel it dragging with the plot continuously going, but it was super interesting. The ending lured me straight back in and I couldn't put it down. It was an extremely cathartic ending with all of them together.
I'd definitely recommend this series!
I received an ARC edition, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This final book in the Rites of Possession series was a truly fantastic way to end the series! I honestly kept on guessing until the very end, and the twists and turns throughout this book kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I even believe this was my favorite book in the entire series, and it almost never happens I say that about the ending of a (longer) series.
“Lady of Doom and Devotion” is filled with action, suspense, and a massive amount of plot development. The road Ivy and her men took in this series was one massive rollercoaster ride, and it became one of my favorite romantasy series because of it. I got a little sad towards the end because I realized I wasn’t totally ready to let go of this world; imagine how happy I was to find out there is more to come (with different characters)!
So yeah, this is definitely a series I would recommend to all the fans of romantasy why choose series out there, especially if you prefer all the attention on the woman. I loved this series, and can’t wait to check out the new series set in this world.
I actually was a little disappointed in this final book. It's a fine fantasy series, don't get me wrong! I enjoyed how active this book was, where our cast of characters were out and about doing things rather than sneaking around. The ending in particular was really great and put a nice cap on things.
I do feel like the romance took a bit of a backseat in this one. Oh, sure, there were kisses exchanged occasionally, a hand on a back, an encouraging word, some compliments. But the actual romance romance? Alek gets a page with Ivy. Stavros gets a kiss in a coat closet. Casimir gets an entire chapter to himself with Ivy. And there's one group scene that's maybe half a chapter. I get it, they're wrapping up the plot, things are happening, can't really work in romance when you're saving the world. It just felt a little sad to put a cap on this series with this group of guys without a lot between them happening.
But that's personal preference. It was still an enjoyable adventure!
TITLE: Lady of Doom and Devotion GENRE: Paranormal Romance AUTHOR: Eva Chase TROPE: Enemies-to-Lovers, Why Choose TYPE: Series (Rites of Possession Book 4) POV: Multiple POV MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
WHAT TO EXPECT: 🗡️ Hot Damaged Men 🗡️ Dark Conspiracy 🗡️ Forbidden Magic 🗡️ Impossible Love 🗡️ Why Choose
Lady of Doom and Devotion brings the Rites of Possession to a satisfying conclusion. The building tensions of war and the threats to Ivy being a Riven kept the storyline moving along at a good pace. The storyline seemed more focused on the battle to get Petra on the throne and trying to defeat the Order of the Wild and less on the romance, but the strength and trust Ivy and the men have built still shine through. I loved how each of Ivy's men brought something to the relationship with Ivy, but even more so, I loved how Rheave grew into his place in the relationship with Ivy and the other men. I am giving a rating of 4 / 5 stars.
The perfect ending to one of the most amazing, intriguing, and tantalizing series I’ve read all year.
Eva Chase wraps up her Rites of Possession series with a final book that very much delivers like the end of a story. Every question that I had was answered perfectly. The political intrigue was done so well that throughout 4 books, I was hooked on what the ending would be and how she’d wrap the story up. Characters developed and became some of my most loved this year. Ivy will forever hold a special place in my heart, as will her men.
If you’re looking for a romance that burns, a magic system that is more complex than what it originally seems, politics and discourse, and a world built so well you won’t want to leave it, this series is for you.
I cannot believe this series is over, and I will definitely be revisiting this world soon. 5 stars and more for Eva!!
