To spare an innocent she has to become his plaything.
When Zeke attacks her pack, Mary, a half-breed wolf, wants to save a young wolf, but to do so, she has to accept his bargain. She must be his toy until the next full moon. Mary despises the alpha she must now give her body to, but she can’t deny the response he inspires within her.
Exploring the deceased pack’s lair Zeke stumbles onto something that could destroy all breeds of wolf. The leaders of Mary’s pack had been experimenting on wolves. The reasons why are still unknown, but Zeke will do everything in his power to find out the truth, especially when he discovers Mary was one of their experiments.
Even before the end of the month Mary becomes all he can think about, and he’s determined to keep his toy safe. Then a twist of fate lets him know she’s more than a toy. Mary is his mate. Can he overcome her fear of him and convince her to stay when her month is up?
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
Zeke, the Alphahole, bit a woman in an alley cause she smelt so good, then couldn't find her, didn't know her name and had no way to track her.
A couple of years later, he and his men are killing a pack because they have something to do with his sisters' disappearance and they smell foul and corrupt. Except for a 14yr old girl & Mary, a virgin halfbreed woman, who both smell of innocence.
Of course being an alphahole he can't resist making a deal for Mary to be his Alpha Toy for a month in exchange for saving Jessica, the 14yr old.
The premise of this story was good, but Zeke really was unpleasant and Mary was fairly innocuous. By the end Zeke kept saying that his pack loved Mary but as far as I could tell they really didn't have much interaction, except for Jane & Max.
I might read the next one in the series, but I'm certainly not rushing.
First of all, if thin, skinny women are going to be called bitches just because the are not curvy, and they are seen as whores who steel men from curvy, thick women, don't you think the girl on the cover should be a woman with a bigger body?????? Fuck this shit.
He got her pregnant without her permission. He mated her without her permission. He dragged her to her old home without her permission and without explaining. Mind you, it was the place she was tortured in.
Am I supposed to find this romantic?? She is so horny she can't even say no or stand for herself. She is 25 for fuck sake. Give her some BONES. If you're going to have unprotected sex you dumb bitch at least think of taking some precautions. There was no talk of it between these two idiots.
And why the hell does he keep calling her a bitch??? They are not even doing foreplay. It was disgusting every time.
Mary was bitten by a large wolf when leaving work one evening and is now a half breed. She was taken in by an alpha and his mate, to be part of their pack. But then the pack were attacked. Mary spoke out in defence of a young girl, Zeke alpha of the attacking pack made a deal with Mary that he would spare the young girls life if she agreed to be his toy for a month.
Blackmailed for sex stories are not new across all romance genres. But it was Zeke's attitude to Mary that I wasn't keen on, his constant reminders that she was just his toy was irksome. Thankfully we are privy to his thoughts or this story would have not worked at all for me. Mary caved rather to easily to Zeke's demands although she was a likeable character sympathetically written. The plot was okay. But overall I've read much better stories from this author
Experimentation, missing wolves and half breeds with strange scents, how do these all tie together? Zeke doesn't know, but he's going to figure it out.
Zeke is an alpha of his pack. His pack is half-breed friendly. They don't tolerate Mary's pack and slaughter them all except two of the females. Mary is one of the two remaining. Mary bargains to save another young female wolf with her body. Zeke willingly takes Mary as his sex toy for the next month.
The blurb of this story is darker than the actual story. This is a sweet fast-paced story of soul mates finding each other. Mary's transformation to a werewolf reminds me of Elena from Kelley Armstrong's Women of Otherworld. The experimentation on shifters reminds me of one of Patricia Briggs' Mercy arc. The world building in this is leveraging a lot on other existing werewolf mythologies so it's easy to follow and understand. The conflict in the story is also pretty easy to figure out and predict how it will resolve.
The characters in this story are fun. They aren't too complicated but they do become endearing. Zeke is a sweet tough guy. Mary is a woman coming into her beast. The chemistry between the two is good. The heat factor is medium.
Overall, this is a sweet story with the powerful doing their best to protect the weak. This is paranormal romance is recommended for those who enjoy soul mate shifter themes.
Zeke is one arrogant alpha. Mary is ok. There were some small inconsistencies that I mostly ignored...some just frustrated me. There were also bits that may have missed being edited. Unfortunately these issues tended to be a bit distracting and overall the story and it's characters did not really grab me. This story contains rough sex, dubious consent, anal sex and dirty talk...some good, some not so good. Sam Crescent is a bit of a hit and miss author for me...this one was more miss then hit.
This story was a convoluted mess for the first half.
There were so many issues with this story I don’t know where to begin. Smh. The basic issues of grammar were all over the place. Words missing or used incorrectly. I’ve noted in past reviews of this authors products that I think there is a cultural issue in that it comes out randomly very British verbiage. But even explaining that, there were glaring errors that a fifth grader would have noticed on any english speaking, reading, and writing continent.
As for the story, I had no idea what was going on in the first 25% of the book. The male lead was written like a sociopath. Acting one way and talking another way and thinking a third way. The paranormal abilities described as one way and then contradicted repeatedly as the book progressed.
It was never explained how after he bit her how he lost her. Did she runaway and because he was in wolf form he couldn’t follow her without being seen. Why was she even in an alleyway when leaving her job when most corporate buildings don’t allow staff to exit through side entrances. I mean seriously what happened!?! Basic storytelling demands that you write the ONE thing that set the whole storyline of the book in motion!!
The last thing I had an issue with was how easy the betrayal by the male lead was glossed over. He was hiding VERY key facts from the female lead and then mates her without explaining that to her when he asked her to submit to him. A little more angst and drama in these parts would have made for a way better story then what I got here. It was all sex and a very useless mystery that was solved off page with one minor reveal and then nothing.
If it had at least had more characters growing together and falling in love I might have liked it more. But, it didn’t. Instead he kept saying how she was only his toy, over and over again until I was grossed out by it. So all I can really say is, if you like a forgettable waste of time, then this book is for you.
The Alpha's Toy is supposed to be one of the romantica type of books. Mary is a heavy set woman who was turned by an unknown shifter. This pack helps her out but they are really evil and Zeke is an alpha who comes to rid the world of a diseased pack. In the meantime he sees this woman who smells awesome and decides to make her his toy and for thirty days her body is his.
In a nut shell the book has a ton of issues beginning with the plot. The writing was often choppy and did not flow to well. I did not really connect to either Zeke nor Mary. I could not understand why there was so much hissing if they are supposed to be wolves. Certain words like bitch were really distracting - one minute Zeke is like don't call Mary that and the next his mother is like bitch you are a guest in my house.
And the award to the worst hero goes to: Zeke. I didn't finish this one, just skipped to the end. After the first two chapters I couldn't take anymore. Zeke was arrogant, hateful, rude, self-centered, and inconsiderate to Mary. The man was too mean-spirited for my taste and Mary with her submissive ways was not attractive. I wouldn't recommend it.
I would have given this 4 stars if Mary hadn't been such a doormat. Plus I got a bit confused about the logistics of wolf shifters in this 'world'. But overall it was an enjoyable read.
Zeke was an alpha who came to destroy Mary's pack. Her pack was evil and corrupt. They treated Mary badly because she was what is referred to in the story as a half-breed. She wasn't born a wolf but was human and bitten. They hated half-breeds in her pack. There was an innocent 14 year old girl named Jessica that Mary tried to bargain for her life. Jessica was innocent and not like the rest of the pack. Zeke being a manwhore that he was said he would spare Jessica's life if Mary agreed to be his "little toy" for one month.
My dislike for Zeke stems from that comment. His little toy which he called her all the way past the point that they got together. It was a degrading term. That being said Mary was never bothered by it so why should I be.
This was a good start for the series and as always Sam delivered a powerful story. I really enjoyed this read and aside from the toy thing and treating her like she didn't matter Zeke wasn't that bad. I liked his parents and the other shifters introduced from the packs a lot.The story had some quite spicy parts so I would rate this one mediumly spicy. I've read spicier but the author didn't slack off on sex scenes either and there were plenty of them. I can't wait to read more!
Le iba a dar tres pero fue el que menos me ha gustado ya que no los estoy leyendo en orden jajaja que btw no importa porq por lo que he visto casi no se relacionan
What a load of BS. >:| a very short story and it could've been great if it wasn't for all that 'skinny girls are ugly and fat girls are the best' crap.. Jeez.. Half of the story was filled with conversations and thoughts about weight issues.. Give it a rest. Yes, yes everyone's beautiful in their own way! Get on with the plot already! Lol! And p.s there's a difference between fat and curvy ;)
I think my only problem with this story is the use of the word “toy”. I get it, I do, I just thought the usage was a bit much.
I admired Mary’s courage to defend an innocent, not only because Jessica was young but because she was the only one in the pack nice to her. It was a selfless act that earned her a sneer and a degrading proposition. But she took it and that spoke volumes of her character.
Zeke was...not my favorite Hero. I hated his constant reminders of who Mary was to him. I really hated it. There was no doubt she knew and remembered her place in his life but he acted like she was incapable of remembering it, which she wasn’t. Did he grow on me? Kind of. His need to clear the air between them was his saving grace, and it made him a slightly better Hero than he was at the beginning.
This is an okay story with an interesting backstory. It’ll be interesting to see if that backstory gets built on, see how far it reaches into other packs.
Zeke meets Mary as he's attacking her "pack" for crimes Mary has no knowledge of. Mary bargains for a friend's life by telling Zeke she will be his toy for a month. Not surprisingly, they end up being more to each other. Entertaining but the hero and heroine lacked some character development. I didn't love them but I didn't not like them either. OK world building. We get a lot of steamy bits and a HEA.
Mary is willing to give up anything to save Jessica who was nice to her during her time with her first pack. Zeke takes that deal, although he quickly realizes that Mary is more than just a diversion. There is a lot going on in this tale. It felt like everything happened in their first week together, then boom... it's the 4th week... other than that, and the fact she really only tries to stick it to Zeke once, I enjoyed their story.

Extremely hot alpha read. Zeke seamed like a jerk in the beginning but I was surprised how fast that changed. Mary is a half breed she's feels like she's never fit in any where. Bitten by a wolf on the street, being a shifter is all new to her. There are twist and turns all along the way as Zeke helps her become one with herself and his "toy". This was a fantastic Hot read.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Zeke is a typical Alpha male, who starts off being such a jerk the reader will want to hate him. Mary, however, is not your typical female. She has gumption and spirit, which has not been beaten down by her experiences. As the romance blossoms, the intrigue unfolds, making for a truly excellent story. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
i am very particular about my shifters. they have to be bad ass, protective and sexy as all hell. and damn it but Sam Crescent has literally made the perfect male wolf shifter for me!! I loved this book from start to finish and i loved the fact that the female lead wasn't stick thin! THANK YOU for a great book! And i can't wait to read the others in this series!!!
Zeke bit a woman outside her work and she's never been the same since.
Mary joins a pack but as she's a half breed things are tough on her every one calls her names and won't stick up for her so when zekes pack arrives to slaughter her pack and when he sees no one will stand up for a young girl or her Zeke sees an opportunity to have her so he does but he's not prepared for what comes.
3 stars. Sorry wasn't feeling this book. Mary got on my nerve and Zeke well he is a man but didn't want her then he wanted her. Hate to say this because I am big fan of the author, but I a glad I finished the book. Still a fan!
I liked the narrative concept and plot of this story. It was an enjoyable read but sometimes felt way to rushed. The premise of having met before was a promising narrative.
This had elements of BDSM and was overall an enjoyable and steamy read.
Hero is a jerk and a bad alpha who finds his mate, bites her and abandons her to survive it. He comes back to look for her the next day. What?! I won't bother to continue commenting on the rest of the story.
These wolves apparently thought they were cats since they purred & hissed. Zeke was a jerk and what's her face was blah. The book has no interest or draw, and I have no desire to read more.
What I loved: I loved how they took Jessica in and how the sister was found at the end.
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like how Zeke kept calling Mary his toy after he knew she was his mate. I also wished Mary didn’t have bbs every time she was near Zeke.
**Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: H is an alpha who is looking for his sister that was kidnapped. H about to kill the rest of the h’s pack when the h tells him not to kill one of the young girls. H agrees only if she agrees to be his toy for one month. H has the h and the girl taken back to his pack while he kills everyone else. We find out that the h is a half breed and was turned by a big wolf biting her. A pack took her in to help her with the change. The pack was not nice to her. H went to that pack because he knew they were doing bad things and that they took his sister. While H has the h, he realizes that she is his mate and he was the one that bit her. H also finds out that the h’s pack was experimenting on the wolf’s. H takes the h back to the bad pack to see if she can remember anything. h remembers and tells the H that his sister escaped. H sense that the h is pregnant with his baby but doesn’t tell the h. When the H and h are having sex, the H claims her causing her to pass out. H calls his parent, scared he hurt the h. H introduces his parents to the h and the mom tells the h that her and the H are mates. H and h talk and he tells her that he was the one that bit her and he has been looking for her. They go to a gathering with other mates with his father’s pack. h gets out of control and H calms her down and tells her about her being pregnant. HEA with the sister coming out of hiding, them killing the guy who started the experimenting on wolfs, them married and having a baby boy.
Final thoughts: Unfortunately this was a no for me.

Heather's Notes There were a few grammatical errors that bothered me which is a little unusual. I can usually ignore them, but for some reason these I couldn't. There weren't many and they were more in the beginning. The story was basically a smutty story. It was very smutty, but short so it didn't get too repetitive. I lived it for what it was.
