He should have married my sister, but he picked me. Didn’t he know I didn’t want to be tied to a made man?

Daria
In the blink of an eye, I was standing in a white dress with a ring on my hand that bound me to him. He made a mistake because I never wanted a man—especially one like him. One who would own me, rule me and degrade me like the gum beneath his shoes. For this alone I would never give him my heart. The only thing that was mine.

Lorenzo
I saw her, and I chose her. I had my reasons, but desire underscored them. She didn’t want to be owned by me. The funny thing was she thought it was a choice. She should have known it wasn’t. For either one of us.

All Daria could do was wait in trepidation till he let her down. All the men in her life were the same. Would Lorenzo be the one to break the mold?

Princess of the Mafia, the standalone second book in The Shadows of Cosa Nostra Chronicles is a Mafia, forced marriage, enemies to lovers, age gap romance featuring a possessive don from New York and his innocent Sicilian wife. While this spicy, dark mafia romance promises a HEA, readers may find some themes concerning. Use the preview feature for details.

This is second book of Sophia Raz and it’s about Daria and Lorenzo. Daria is the second daughter of a mafia man and does not want to marry. When an arranged marriage to her older sister falls through Daria is forced to marry Lorenzo who is the mafia don. Both have their conflicts from the past to overcome.

I loved that we got her sisters perspective right in the prologue before it switched to Daria/Lorenzo’s pov’s. Initially I felt sorry for Orietta (the sister) but the further the books moved along it was clear that Orietta wasn’t the easiest person and the disfunction of the whole family didn’t make the conflict easier.

I was not the biggest fan of Daria in the beginning because she seemed too immature sometimes. But what shouldn’t be forgotten is that she is a very sheltered girl given that she has grown up in the mafia. Nevertheless, I think her and Lorenzo fit perfectly together and did a lot of work to make their relationship work. Lorenzo is rough around the edges and not the easiest man especially at the beginning. But he falls for Daria and does everything in his power to earn her trust and love.

I loved seeing Divya and Antonio from Nanny to the mafia again and them having a few appearances. What I found very sweet as well was the afterword. Made me tear up after the book and I hope the person who it’s meant to is getting to read it one day.

This book is for readers who love mafia romance, age gap, arranged marriage, he falls first, other woman drama and slow burns.

Thank you Sophia for trusting me with the arc of Princess!!

✨ARC Review✨

I absolutely adored Princess of the Mafia which is the first book in the series so I couldn’t wait to dive back into this for Daria’s book and what a rollercoaster it was.

Daria’s older sister was meant to Marry Lorenzo the Don of NYC to form an alliance with the Sicilian Di Matteo family but of course things don’t always go according to plan. While Lorenzo is traveling to the family’s home Daria manages to catch his eye. Lorenzo of course decides to speak with the older sister to explain his refusal to marry her and takes Daria as his bride instead.

Daria, bless I just want to wrap her in a bubble of love🥹 While being a woman raised in a mafia household she definitely has a fierce streak and stands her ground especially when it comes to her new husband. Daria never wanted to be married to a made man and her reasoning for this is because Daria never wanted her marriage to turned out like her mothers and fathers where her father constantly cheated on her mother and her mother refused to leave him.

Lorenzo is your typical alpha, womanizer mafia man and I did dislike him quite a bit at the beginning as he didn’t have any concern for his wife. She was thrown into a marriage with a man she just met and had to move to a different country. Lorenzo, starts to take notice of his wife’s struggles when she has a panic attack one morning in their kitchen. The main reason for this panic attack was Daria met the new maid and was brought back to a flashback of when she witnessed her father cheating on her mother, again this insecurity bleeds into her marriage where she feels Lorenzo would do the same and be unfaithful to her because he is a made man.

Lorenzo acts instantly and he brings in a new maid sweet Benedetta who was his mother’s friend. Benedetta takes Daria under her wing which I found absolutely adorable. Lorenzo then does everything in his power to prove to his wife that he is not like her father. For instance he takes her to his place of work so she knows where he goes, allows her access to his cameras so she can see him and also track him. But what I found was the best thing that he did was that he set up a clause with his lawyer that if he did stray which he was absolutely adamant that he would not, that he would lose absolutely everything to his brothers.

“I’m serious. No one’s messing with you. Even me. Faithfulness isn’t a word, Principessa. It’s about an affirmation of a decision every day. This is the only way I know to prove it to you. I mean it when I say you’re the only woman in my life. If, God forbid, I step out of line, Nico and Stefano have agreed to take everything away from me.”

This book is a slow burn which I absolutely loved because we readers get to see the process of how Lorenzo proves himself to his wife and how she slowly begins to trust him. We also see the development of the couples chemistry over the course of the book and also the possessiveness Lorenzo has over his wife is delicious.😮‍💨

Tropes:
- Age Gap (h:24/H:34)
- Arranged Marriaged
- Forced Proximity
- He Falls First
- Slow Burn
- Enemies to Lovers
- Touch her and die

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts and I look forward to diving back into the series in the near future✨

Princess of the Mafia is book 2 of Sophia's The Shadows of the Costa Nostra, but it can be read as a standalone. It's my first book by Sofia Raz, and it was so good that I'm for sure going back for book 1! This doesn't have a storyline that needs book 1 to understand, but we do see the couple from book 1.
Princess of the Mafia starts with a prologue of the eldest sister of the Di Matteo's family POV - at their father's funeral and the hatred she has for not only her father but her sisters as well. We soon uncover that the oldest sister, Orietta, is set to marry the Don of New York.
We then meet the Don, Lorenzo Martello, who is on his way to Sicily to finalize a contract and marriage arrangement. Lorenzo is someone who has no interest in getting a wife. This is all business. The plan is just for this wife to be a house doll and only acknowledged when needed.
However, the original plan for the oldest sister, Orietta, is changed when the middle sister, Daria, snags his attention. The alliance will only go forward if the contract changes with the middle sister - Daria.
With a lot of past trauma, Daria also has no interest in a husband. Well, no interest in a Made Man as a husband; they can't be trusted, and she will never trust Lorenzo. She says that, but then Lorenzo says: "Challenge accepted."
This book was so good with how Lorenzo falls for Daria. He spent the entire book proving she was the only one for him and trying to win her trust! He was still the hard Mafia Don that had no problem getting his knuckles bloody, barking orders, and being feared by everyone, but not her. Daria would test his patience at every turn, but he couldn't give her up. It got to the point that I questioned whether Daria actually had a heart or not with how much she refused to give into Lorenzo... honestly, also surprised he didn't throw in the towel! But there is a HEA, so he didn't work hard for nothing!
Very good book. I would highly recommend it! The spice was on the lower side - more so that there weren't many scenes, but they were very good when they did happen.
There is Other Woman Drama - Daria has a hard time trusting, but there is no cheating by Lorenzo (once he's with Daria), but the question is always out there.

such a good story, brilliant (at times a tad overdone) writing and the worst reading experience that ruined everything.

why is it impossible to simply have the damn translations under the dialogues in a foreign language? this author had the whole translation glossary at the start of the book so every time you come across a sentence you want to know the meaning of, stop, go back to the glossary, wade through the list n find it.

It's so enraging. It completely destroyed the reading flow.

Oh. My. God. Sophia has done it again. Second book in the Cosa Nostra mafia series and I’m still just as obsessed.
Lorenzo is set to marry the eldest Di Matteo daughter to form an ally within the Cosa Nostra between NY and Sicily. When he crosses paths with the middle daughter and her sister offers her up to him instead, Lorenzo thinks he’s getting a doll for a wife. But boyyyyy was he wrong 😅😅
Daria is adamant to not allow his sweet words and dirty mouth go soaring through her head and into her heart because she is certain she will never be like her mother. And like her mother she was not 🥹 because Enzo is nothing like her papa and he will go to the end of the world to prove all made men aren’t the same.
I love love love it. And I loved getting bits of Antonio and Divya in there too 🫶🏼
Sophia will always be a go-to author for me with these being her first novels, she has totally sucked me in! So good.

Lorenzo really would let his woman run the world if she asked. He gave her anything he asked for in the end no matter how he felt about it and the entire book was basically him proving his love to her through his actions more than words 😍 the tattoo, the house, the deal with his brothers, the deal he first made with her…he was down bad for her from the moment he saw her reckless behavior with the younger kids in Sicily—and I was even lower for him because 😮‍💨 SOPHIA CAN I HAVE HIM 😩😩?

Daria had her own pt$d and träuma from her father who was amongst the worst examples for a husband and father in the mafia that a girl could have. She practically swore off made men but this one seemed to have an effect on her that she fought hard to ignore but he stripped away her barriers one by one and melted her down like butter.

I loved witnessing both of their growth throughout this story, especially how much of a lover boy our big bad wolf ended up being. He wanted a doll, but he found his queen 👑

I loved this story so so much, my favorite Sophia Raz book by far and I can’t wait for more to come!! It’s a slow burn but ouuweee did the spice burn!! I wonder what or who is next 👀.. I really hope someday we can get a book or even a novella on Stefano and Nico

This book was phenomenal! I absolutely loved Lorenzo and Daria. Daria is so naive in the beginning, while also being feisty and strong willed. Her past traumas made her very untrusting, and I loved seeing her trust in Lorenzo get stronger by the end. And Lorenzo is the typical Mafia Don…cold, hard, brutal and dominating. But for Daria he’s willing to change and be softer and prove she can trust him. He honestly made my heart melt over and over again with the lengths he was willing to go to and how he treated her. I loved the banter, the story was excellent, and the spice even though it was a slow burn, was oh so good. This was the second book in the series of interconnected standalones, and I’m planning on reading the first one while I’m waiting on the third! Highly recommend adding to your TBR!!

Sooo Lorenzo and Daria! I loved them both so much! They're so relatable and sweet (yes, even Lorenzo with his grumpiness). There's spice (oh yeah), plot, action, personal growth and a relationship that is built little by little and it's so endearing.
I loved the first book in the series but I love this one even more. I didn't think I would like the FMC as much as I liked Divya (first book in the series) but Daria has captured my attention from the start. She's troubled but strong and her heart is not easily conquered.
Lorenzo shows so much growth throughout the book and you cannot avoid rooting for him at every page.
Five stars well earned!!!

I really enjoyed the first book when it came out. So it was a no brainer for me that I wanted to read the second book. And let me tell you, I loved this book even more and devoured it in a day. I couldn't stop reading!

I loved, loved, loved! Daria and Lorenzo! The slowburn, the jealous but (over)protective side of Lorenzo made me giggle and kicking my feet. The story build nice and slow, letting you learn something about both characters with every chapter. Raz did an really amazing job with mixing the lovestory with a bit of character trauma and writing about it, and not only the writing about but she also let the main characters heal in their own way. The dual POV made it so much easier falling in love with both Daria and Lorenzo.

The way Daria has her own strong willed mind from the start of the book gave the story that bit of extra it needed. She wasn't one to going down silently but she took the whole damn ship with her 🤭 another thing I really liked about it was the age gap between them (10 years) and with how Lorenzo acted you wouldn't always say he was the older one in the relationship.

I would definitely recommend this book if you like Mafia, slowburn, Age gap, yummie spice, trauma healing and an amazing storyline.

Sophia Raz thank you so much for this ARC to read and review.

Princess of the Mafia is the second book in an interconnected standalone series. Lorenzo is by far my favorite MMC that Sophia has written so far.

"There was no way I was leaving something of mine behind without protection. Because there was no doubt in my mind. She was fucking mine."

“Well, forgive me for not having faith in your security, but I don’t want my future wife sneaking off again. She. Stays. With. Me.”

“Oh, we’ll fuck all right. And when we do, it won’t be a must but a need and you’ll come crawling to me with your please.”

I mean, seriously. How can you NOT love a possessive MMC that says stuff like that?!

The plot is well written, the banter is to die for (I'm a sucker for good banter), and the characters have instant chemistry that you FEEL.

Lorenzo, the don of a New York mafia, has everything he could ever want – money, power, women.

Oh yeah, lots and lots of women rotating in his bed. He’s definitely a playboy and he’s proud of that reputation!

He is completely, absolutely, and 100% certain he would never ever be a one-woman guy, even when he’s married.

But you know what they say: never say never!

One look at Daria, a Sicillian woman in the “tiniest shorts” and my man was a goner…

Oh how the mighty has fallen!

Lorenzo didn’t want to get married but he had to in order to make alliances and avoid any potential bloodshed.

So here he was supposed to marry Daria’s older sister but oops, his finger maaaaay have slipped and pointed at Daria instead.

Lorenzo basically trapped her in a forced marriage, or did he really? Maybe HE is the one trapped with Daria 🤔

I mean before signing the marriage contract, she was like: “What was your name again?”

And oh boy he didn’t like that, replying tightly with “Lorenzo” and guess what she said???

“See? I’ve always wanted to have a Lorenzo.”

🦅 *screeching* 🦅

SHE ENDED HIM! An absolute slay 😮‍💨🫢

Anyway, they got married and Lorenzo took her away from Italy to good ole New York City. If he thinks he would be in control because he got her alone, well…he’s in for some enlightenment.

My girl Daria is definitely eating him alive 🫡

Ahhhh this was seriously such a fun read. Nothing gives me more✨ joy✨ than seeing all these powerful men get wrapped around their wives tiny little pinky fingers.

Daria and Lorenzo had a lot of things to figure out but the chemistry be sizzling and when it finally broke, it was fire 🔥

I highly recommend this to anyone who loves the grittiness and tension of mafia romances, strong heroines, and obsessed wife guy!!!

This is an absolute delight to read ❤️

Okaayy this is absolutely my favorite mafia romance so far 🤭

I loved every page of it Daria (the FMC) is such a badass and a perfect representation for women! She had no choice but to marry Lorenzo (the MMC) but she didn’t let that take her down she made her stand and didn’t back down and refused to just be someones wife and i admire her so much for it!

And Lorenzo is just ✨perfection✨ hes dark and doesn’t hide it from her but is willing to change himself into a better version for her and its just the most hottest thing a man can do🤭

Sophia has such a smooth and beautiful way of writing i got sucked up into the story and just couldn’t put it down it was an addictive story about a girl fighting back against the standard and expectations of being a woman and wife in the mafia and i absolutely would recommend this read to anyone!

Author Sophia Raz took off with some drama in “Princess of the Mafia.” And I loved it. Yes, I’m one of those readers who love all the drama, the secrets, misunderstandings, jealousy—everything. The icing on the cake is that he falls first.

Lorenzo was supposed to marry Daria’s older sister, but things didn’t go as planned, and Daria had to marry him herself. Daria is quite the independent spitfire and makes it clear which doesn’t work out favorably in the mafia world. I loved the progression of Lorenzo’s growing love for Daria as he reluctantly makes compromises throughout the story.

“Princess of the Mafia” is a slow burn, but it makes sense considering how Lorenzo and Daria’s relationship began. But Sophia Raz did not sacrifice any steam for the scenes when Lorenzo and Daria were together. Also, I would add that the mafia component was more prevalent in this book than in Book 1. I liked the edge that it added to the story.

A great mafia arranged marriage romance.
This book continues in the family of book one, Antonio and Divya, who do make appearances in book two. This story follows Lorenzo, who enters a contract to marry in the Costa Nostra. However, he chooses to marry Daria, an0ther sister from the one agreed. Daria appears in the beginning to be very immature for her, I think 26 years, but she has lead an incredible, protected and sheltered life. After marrying Lorenzo and Daria do not have the best start to their relationship, however Lorenzo soon falls for her and sets out to prove that Daria's experiences of mafia men are not all true. An excellent read and looking forward to the next book.

Lorenzo Don of New York needs a wife, an alliance, so he’s doing what he never wished for which is marriage. He knows he will never be a faithful man he just wants a willing wife, a doll that can be put in his home while he goes on with his business. When he meets his soon to be bride, things don’t go as expected.
Daria, is a sunshine. She’s a girl that’s tied to the mafia and wants nothing to do with any made men. That is until Lorenzo chooses her over her sister to marry, this wasn’t suppose to happened she tried to dissuade her sister from an unwanted marriage now it’s her who thinks long and hard about how denying this union can cause her brother - who’s trying to run their empire after their fathers death - so many problems. So she agrees. She doesn’t want to be owned by a men like Lorenzo so she does the unexpected but Lorenzo still goes with the marriage. She leaves with him and he starts to see how much trauma she has due to her father, she doesn’t believe a made men can be faithful and he believes it as well since he himself had said he’d be messing around even after marriage, but he’s offended. He doesn’t like how she thinks that he’ll mess around on her like she expect it to happened. Something inside of him starts to form and he does things that he’s never done. He sees that she’s worth everything and he wants to prove to her how he can be a faithful men how he could never hurt her. Will her traumas over take her and leave the beautiful bond that they both promise to try to form ?

Daria is such a sassy queen, I really can’t believe what she did due to her fear of being owned, it was shocking to read but honestly VALID. She deserved to choose what she wanted but I felt her pain, the emotions I felt while reading I was scared that she would let it become her and never give herself a chance but Lorenzo did what he could to let her know that he wasn’t who she thought he was. Lorenzo was annoying at the beginning so he deserved Daria in his life to put him straight. I saw how fast he fell for her, but since made men like that don’t have feelings they don’t vocalize it but show it and he did. P. S orrietta thought she was ruining her sisters life but she just set her up to succeed 🤭😂

- he falls first
- slow burn
- I hate everyone but you
- innocent h
- touch her and you die
- H can't bear the sight of her tears
- daddy issues (h)
H would do ANYTHING for her
- you're not a V, I still want you, I'll cut my thigh so you don't have to answer any questions
- you want to go to college, done
- you don't want kids right now, done
- you doubt my fidelty, I'll sign a contract that I will lose everything if I ever cheat on you

Still, it wasn’t amusement I felt when I jabbed my upper thigh and spilled blood on the pristine, white, hand-embroidered, cotton sheets. The sheet was supposed to symbolize the pureness of our marriage. Now my blood stained it with lies threaded with vile words. I didn’t want you to own me. I’d warned them off. But I was no fool. The moment we were out of the room, there would be a group of women sniffing the sheets up like addicts with dope.

How I would be if it weren’t for the glossy walls in my penthouse reflecting a girl with brown hair and big blue eyes. They had looked a steel blue to me right before I’d left. #4682B4 to be exact. I would know because my damn phone showed search results for color charts of fucking blue

A soft sob left her breath, and it vibrated through my veins. My fists clenched as tightly as the pressure around my chest. Oxygen snuck out of the room, and heat protruded from my throat. I couldn’t breathe in here. Guilt wasn’t knocking on the door. It was standing right in front of me, had my hands shackled, and a gun to my face.
The next sob that left her had me jump out of the chair I was sitting on like it was a fucking burning hot red plate.
The third soft sob hit me hard on my back as I strode out of the room and stumbled into my office.

I love this book.

This Mafia book was beautiful because both characters grew. They both learned how to compromise. And I love that the first one to compromise was the man. He showed leadership. He really waited for her. He did not push her around. He did not disrespect her like in the usual Mafia books I read online or in Kindle Unlimited.

He was so considerate. He respected her and gave her everything she wanted, even the dreams she never had growing up in her family. In his own way, he even tried to heal her childhood trauma, and I appreciated that a lot.

This is the kind of slow burn that is truly slow burn. Not the fake slow burns people usually call slow burn. This one made me feel it.

So I don’t understand why the ratings are low, because this book was so beautiful. You get to see both of them grow. Their reservations eventually faded because they loved each other. And that’s how love works. You become irrational. You compromise. You do things to make the other person happy because they deserve it, and because they make you happy too.

I also love how the author created new characters in this second book. They didn’t feel like copies of the first. That’s rare, because most Mafia or romance series have characters who all sound the same. Here, Lorenzo is different from Antonio. He has his own patterns, his own challenges, his own depth. Even his brothers feel different. And I really loved Stefano. He has so much substance, and I’d love to read his story if there ever is one.

And then there’s Daria. She is so different from Divya. She is innocent, soft, and truly feminine. A real princess. And I felt that throughout the whole novel. I loved her so much.

The author really did a great job here.

Princess in the Mafia is the definition of he falls first and makes her heart his. All I can say after reading this, is I need a Lorenzo in my life. A man who breaks down all the shields and barriers around my heart and makes me fall madly in love with everything I swore I would never want. Because this is what Lorenzo did!! He made Daria trust him, he proved to her he was different, and he took her heart as his.

Our MMC, Lorenzo, is arranged to marry to the daughter of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra Don, to secure alliances. He wanted a doll, a wife who would dress up, cook and live inside the walls of his penthouse while he could continue living his life as he see fit. When all goes sideways and he ends up marrying a different sister, his plans have already started to change he just doesn’t know it yet. The innocent pink ball of fluff that caught and held his attention, changing him in ways he never imagined possible.

Our FMC, Daria, is supposed to disappear for the night her sister meets her future husband. Instead, she ends up locked outside the back door and meeting the grumpy and untidy looking Cosa Bostra Don of New York while only wearing one shoe. Daria has sworn she would not be like her Mother and wants nothing to do with made men. Until she can’t help but fall for the made man who proves himself worthy of her heart.

I love the slow burn angst of this book and the way Sophia managed to make such a hardened man like Lorenzo turn swoon worthy for his wife. This man was possessive, dominant and as morally grey as they come. Yes, yes he did steal my heart. This book is a must read and this series is a must read!

This book follows Daria and Lorenzo and let me just say that I was not Daria’s biggest fan in the beginning… she’s 24 but seemed so juvenile and still she wasn’t my least favorite character. Her sister Orietta was the worst! Lorenzo, however, I loved him. For someone who claimed he wasn’t marrying for love he sure didn’t show it and I loved every minute of it. Stefano was such a nice brother in law although it kind of irked me that he kept playing devil’s advocate after what Daria did before her wedding. The main thing I didn’t like about this book was the constant topic of cheating, I feel like every other conversation that was had between the MCs was him reassuring her that he wasn’t going to cheat on her AFTER WHAT SHE DID BEFORE THEIR WEDDING, other than that it was a pretty entertaining read. This is the second book in the series but I did not feel lost by skipping the first though now I want to go back and read it.

This is an Advanced Reader copy. Although this book was given to me as an ARC my thoughts are my own. Thank you to Sophia for the ARC opportunity!

This is the second book by Sophia Raz in The [***Shadows of Cosa Nostra Chronicles***](https://www.goodreads.com/series/4003...), and it’s about Daria and Lorenzo. Daria is forced into a marriage with Lorenzo, who is the mafia’s don, after an arranged marriage to her older sister is cancelled, and she is dreading it (to say the least).

Firstly let me tell you how happy I was that we got a glimpses and appearances of Divya and Antonio from Nanny To The Mafia!!

But onto the book! Daria and Lorenzo have a lot to work through together, and seeing them slowly fall in love with each other and get to know each other was truly perfectly written.

I had a bit of trouble liking Daria in the beginning, which I think makes sense, but that feeling eased up as I continued reading. The way Lorenzo falls for Daria and tries to prove to her that he’s the one and that they can trust each other made my heart melt!

(I have to be honest and say I liked this one even more than the first one)

I would definitely recommend this book for dark romance mafia lovers! (Also, check the trigger warning if you’re sensitive to that)

Thank you so much to Sophia for trusting me with an arc copy, it was such a good read and I can’t wait to discover what you write next!
