Sync'd: Reset

Rate this book
In the wake of the catastrophic Impact, humanity faced a profound reset. From the ashes of global devastation, the Earth Council emerged, uniting the world under one government and reshaping society. At the heart of this new world lies Medius, a beacon of hope and progress, a city reborn with the promise of a brighter future.

"Sync' Reset" plunges us into this transformed Earth, where the remnants of the past and the innovations of the present intertwine. Amidst the serene streets and vibrant life of Medius, we meet Lander and Lakota, two individuals whose destinies are as intertwined as their unspoken affection. Lander, an orphan with an extraordinary aptitude for piloting, discovers a unique connection to the Krystals, mysterious energy cores that power the Earth Defense Force's advanced Rakuras—war machines essential for defending humanity's newfound peace.

Lakota, whose aspirations were reshaped by personal tragedy, finds herself drawn into the ranks of the EDF, uncovering strengths she never knew she possessed. Together, they navigate the complexities of this new world, where the harmony of Medius belies the lurking threats beyond Earth's atmosphere.

As they confront challenges both personal and cosmic, Lander and Lakota's journey epitomizes the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. Their growing bond, though subtle, becomes a source of strength as they face an alien menace that could shatter the fragile peace of their world.

"Sync' Reset" is a tale of rebirth and resilience, set against the backdrop of a world striving to rise above its tumultuous past. It's a story that captures the essence of human determination and the subtle threads of connection that bind us, reminding us that even in times of great change, the heart's quiet yearnings can still find a voice.

Back at it again reading outside of my norm, I genuinely enjoyed this so much though! The world building wasn’t hard to follow, and I again as with a different review felt like this was a good way to dip my toe into the genre. I didn’t really like Lander at first (I’m still iffy) but girl Lakota??? I ride for her, I loved her so much. The twists and turns of this book are just so well done, and the characters were perfectly written. Time to jump into book 2 soon!

not what I expected, so much more!

This was an exciting action packed journey that followed Lander and Lakota on their training to become elite pilots to fight the Drug army that is descending upon earth. This sci-fi adventure also has strong dystopian vibes and pulls you unexpectedly into the world. The unique sci-fi elements draw you in and make you want to know more about this world. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Sync'd is a unique take on the Sci-Fi/Romance genre. It offers a first-person perspective from multiple characters, and what's refreshing is that it doesn't overwhelm you with technical jargon, keeping the story engaging. The romance between the characters feels natural, though somewhat predictable. However, what took me by surprise was the unexpected turn the story took later on.

The author skillfully crafts a world with a single government, initially reminiscent of Star Trek's peaceful coexistence. But beneath the surface, we discover dissenters who refuse to abide by the Council's rules and laws. The world-building, while a bit challenging in the first couple of chapters, is par for the course in books with vast settings. I was relieved that I didn't have to wade through a lengthy chapter on their version of the Bill of Rights, just a short paragraph that is important later in the story.

I couldn't find any information about the next book, so I reached out to the author, who kindly assured me that he is actively working on the sequel, with a potential release in late 2023 or early 2024. Honestly, I found Sync'd to be a breath of fresh air in the world of Sci-Fi literature. It offers something different that even those who aren't fans of the genre might find enjoyable.

I recently had the pleasure of reading the debut novel by an author previously unknown to me. The narrative is skillfully presented from a first-person perspective, not only from the main character but also from other individuals within the story. The initial installment captivated my interest, and I eagerly anticipate the release of subsequent books in this series. I am particularly curious to learn the fate of one of the characters, and their where their journey has taken them.

4.5/5 ⭐️

This sci-fi adventure is action packed and full of awesome tech. The characters are very much written as teenagers, which they are, so it makes some of their decisions make sense when you look at them that way.

Lander is stubborn and determined and in love with Lakota.

Lakota is just as stubborn but has a sweet side that I adore.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
