The thrilling conclusion to The Lenticular Series.
How far will a traitor go?
Rhees and Udun's mission to free Homeworld has begun and war with the Hegemony is inevitable. Unsure she can bear the cost in human lives, Rhees desperately seeks a way to help her Lenticular allies while saving humanity.
Udun is determined to change Kresz society and help the excisees if he can, but other Kresz on Homeworld are far more invested in maintaining the status quo.
Meanwhile on Earth, Denev plays a deadly game of deception with HDC and SolSec where one wrong move will be his last.
I’m a speculative fiction writer, editor and publisher, born in Scotland and now living in Wollongong NSW.
My long fiction includes The End Times of Markusz Zielinski, a hopeful apocalyptic tale at the end of the universe, Horizon, a deep space exploration political and ecological thriller/ murder mystery, which was published by HarperCollins, and the three book Lenticular series – Traitor’s Run, Traitor’s Bargain and Traitor’s War – a galaxy-spanning space opera of species slaughter, subjugation and treachery.
My short fiction has appeared in Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, Aurealis Magazine, Oceans of the Mind and Agog! Fantastic Fiction.
I’m probably best known for being editor of Aurealis – Australian Science Fiction and Fantasy Magazine from 2001 to 2004 and publisher with multi-award winning Australian independent press coeur de lion publishing from 2006 onwards. I also hosted 30 episodes of the Terra Incognita Speculative Fiction (TISF) Podcast from 2008 to 2011, and edited and produced Dimension6 speculative fiction electronic magazine from 2014 to 2020. The conclusion to The Lenticular series by KM Stevenson showcases the journey of the 2 main protagonists. Rhees Lowran, formerly a disgraced Fleet pilot and presumed dead by her murderous boss at HDC, gathers allies to bring down the leaders of the Hegemony. She knows innocent lives will be lost in the ensuing showdown, but does her best to minimise human casualties.
Meanwhile on Homeworld, Udun the Kresz marshals the resistance to retake his world. And despite being quite alien in appearance, his sentiments are eerily similar to those of Rhees. The Kresz have been slaves to tradition and an insular mindset, and change comes at a high cost.
At its heart, this trilogy explores the importance of diversity, independent thinking, and the role of individuality in two very different societies that nonetheless both insist on conformity and obedience in the name of order. Thought provoking indeed!
