A water nymph locked in darkness. A human who brings him light.
Sion is an ocean nymph who has never seen the ocean. He has spent his whole life in a cage, kept prisoner by the Order so they can steal his energy. Then one day, a human arrives. But unlike other humans, Tomas doesn’t treat Sion like some beast. He talks to Sion and tells him of the sea. He becomes Sion’s first friend. And as they spend time together, Sion begins to feel something more than just friendship for Tomas.
Tomas despises the Order, the sect that his parents belong to. He plans to leave before he is initiated on his twentieth birthday. But before that day arrives, he discovers a water nymph in a cage. Horrified, Tomas helps and cares for the naiad. As he does, Tomas connects with Sion. He develops feelings for him. Tomas will not abandon Sion to a life locked in a cage.
He plans to break Sion free. But with the Order working against them, will they find a way to be together? Or will they be forever torn apart?

Unfortunately I couldn't finish this book as it failed to keep my attention. Tom was 19 and in the Orders Family which he didn't like at all, planning to run away before his initiation. Sion was a captured naiad in a dungeon and at the mercy of a sorcerer for his life. A friends to lovers theme, with dangers included. After separation dramas the story continues. This had an okay start for Tom but after a few chapters the story kept repeating itself going nowhere fast. I was looking for them moving forward faster, when finally I couldn't get back into the story after skimming quite a bit. I loved the first couple of books in this series but the previous book and this didn't get there for me for various reasons.
This book series was fun, romantic, and with a good dose of action and adventure. With endearing characters grappling with the deck that life gave them, their personal circumstances and the circumstances of the world around them, determined to make the world a better place.
I was surprised that this book was so long compared to the previous ones in the series, but it was an excellent decision on the part of the author as this way we can have a deeper and more complete context of the story.
Full circle!
Tom lives in a community belonging to the order since his parents joined when he was young and he had no choice but to live with them, but always with the clear purpose of escaping.
Sion is a sea nymph who has never seen the sea since she was conceived in captivity and has lived in a cage all her life, being a victim of mistreatment by the order. Two souls who in different ways have been affected by the evil deeds of this sect.
I loved seeing how the story ties together with events that happened in previous books and how the actions of the characters in the past have relevance in the present, it was like a really fun puzzle to put together.
It hurt me that Tom and Sion were separated for so long, but in a way it may have been necessary for both of them to spread their wings and discover their potential and grow as a person.
But the important thing is that in the end they are together and managed, with the help of their allies, to finally defeat the order once and for all!
I wish I had known more about Nyma and Easton, they stole my heart even though their story is just a bonus story.
What a journey 😻😻😻😻😻
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is my honest opinion of the book.
Best in the series by far (and the only one without the pesky miscommunication/no communication trope). ANR starts 8 years ago, where a young Tomas, raised in a commune run by the Order, falls in love with Sion (who we met a few books ago on Temple Island), a naiad trapped and drained by a sorcerer. And then it powers back to current day. It was beautiful, and heartfelt, and so so gentle, while having big fights against the Order. And I definitely recommend reading the bonus epilogue as well.
I've been reading this series ever since the very first book, and as sad as I am for it to come to an end, this ending was an excellent way to end this series!
Sion and Thomas's story is heartbreaking, and I felt so sad for the both of them. This book starts off with telling us about how Sion and Tomas met, and how their story started... Then certain events happened, (really sad events) and these two get separated. Only to find one another again, when neither were expecting to, nor were they prepared.
This book was nice! I loved that we got an indepth history of Tomas and Sion's past, and I absolutely loved the detailed descriptions of Sion's magic!! I found those scenes to be my absolute favorite, they were just written and described very well! The characters themselves I thought were written nicely too, they had their own individuality. This story primarily focuses on Sion and Thomas, there are background characters but they are mainly used to help move the action scenes along. I did think that the side characters added a family feel aboard the ship which I found to be a nice contrast to all the fighting that was occuring.
The action scenes were described in great detail, and I really enjoyed reading those scenes. I also very much enjoyed they way this series concluded!
Wow. Honestly, my major reaction is just wow. Tomas and Sion were an epic ending to a series I have adored. Like any hard fought HEA this isn’t all happiness and sunshine. Tomas and Simon’s story is both beautiful and heartbreaking. But it’s worth it. I don’t want to spoil too much, because I loved the intensity of this book and don’t want to take away from that. What I will say is that it packs an emotional punch and has a sense of satisfaction at the end that is often missing from series endings. And while there were some heartbreaking moments, there was also a sweetness to it that made it so lovely to read. If you enjoy this series, you will love this book. It is everything the series is, ten fold.
4.5/5 This was a wonderful conclusion to this series. Sion intrigued me when we met him in book 3. I liked the symbolism of going back to the beginning (okay, not the very beginning of the Order, but earlier than we’ve ever seen before) before we got to their defeat. I liked learning more about their origins and how they operated, as well as seeing how more people stood up to oppose them. I liked how fierce and determined Tom was, how certain he was that something was wrong even though everyone around him was telling him that it was right.
The early connection between Sion and Tom was very sweet. I loved how Tom was able to bring the ocean and the world to Sion when he hadn’t experienced it himself. I was a bit worried at first that the relationship wouldn’t quite work given Sion’s complete lack of power, but it developed slowly enough and was instigated by Sion in a way that felt natural and right for the two of them.
I expected the reunion to go a little differently, but I think it actually made sense given the time that has passed and the changes that have occurred over the years. It was an emotional journey, and I was so very relieved once they connected properly again!
The climax built up and up, and I loved the triumphant conclusion with so many people and beings from all the books there to help make it happen.
I’m so glad everyone got their HEA, and I definitely need to read the bonus scene to get a little more time with Sion and Tom.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
What a great ending for this wonderful series. I'm really sad to see the end. Wonder what's in store for us next? I'm sure Gigi Rivers has something in mind.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat, I had trouble putting it down. I highly recommend the entire series.
It finally comes down to the final battle with the Order. This world that the author has created is like nothing I've read before. The stories have it all, there's always an interesting storyline, battles fought, fun times, sweet times, sexy times, did I mention pirates?
Hurt/comfort, some angst, lost love, found love, sweet romance, brings the heat
I liked how the story was broken into two parts detailing Sion and Tom's past from eight years prior, then both believing each other had died. Then their reconciliation on the Naiad's Revenge in part two that explores the divide that the past eight years has caused. I still can't breathe properly because I was crying so much through both parts.
I wasn't expecting the turn of events on the beach in the final battle, that kept me glued to the page. I had expected all the allies and kraken to assist in defeating The Order but way to go Sion.
last book in this series. awesome stories. Nasty religious cults kidnaps naiads to drain them of their magical abilities. Pirates and naiads work together to defeat the Order. This is the final battle between them. lots of battles, MM sex.
Review A Naiad's Revenge This final book in the series has it all. What a ride! What an amazing, epic ride. From the characters to the story, and worldbuilding. Fantastic. This series will stay in my heart. This book focuses on Tomas and Sion. If you read the previous books, you have heard those names before, and like me, couldn't wait for their story! It has all the feelings, and the plot is a chef's kiss! High fantasy, an epic battle with epic characters, all the feelings, and a HEA is guaranteed.
Sion and Tomas’ story is one that showcases a connection born out of terrible and painful circumstances— it’s devastating, at times, learning their history, and impressive how hard they fight for their HEA. These are easy characters to care about and root for, and their story makes for a powerful and moving read, with enough heartwarming moments woven through the heartbreaking ones to make it all worth while. 4.5 stars.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Wow What an entertaining adventure full of action and heart felt emotion. I love the world and cast of characters that Gigi Rivers has created for us. This beautiful fantasy captures the heart and soul of Sion and Tom, their relationship and their journey to end the group that has enslaved and tortured the water nymphs for their power.
This one tugged on my heart strings! Many times I had tears running down my cheeks. I wanted to get in there and give some hugs!
The Blurb does a fantastic job of setting the scene for the story which I thought was well written, easy to read and very enjoyable. I didn’t want to put it down and I loved the ending.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review!
Gigi definitely left the most emotionally beautiful story for last. I cannot even imagine a sea nymph who has never been able to experience the sea, the very place he belongs. Sion has lived his entire life caged in isolation and desolation. Tomas becomes not only his one hope, but his one true connection to holding onto life. Tomas was so young yet so dedicated and determined when needed and I adored that about him. A magical romance despite the loss of physical magic!
“Before you, I didn’t care if I lived or died. I just existed in the darkness and fear.” Sion swallowed, throat tight. “But now…when the darkness and fear close in, I think of you. The dark times are more bearable because I know I will see you again.”
We have been aware of both Tomas and Sion in previous books in Gigi Rivers’ Pirates and Water Nymphs series. With A Naiads Revenge, book 5 and final in the series, we find an unexpected background of pain that bloomed into love.
Gigi finds a way to take characters and show how much heart they have, whether magical or not. Thomas and Sion have a story of strength and loyalty that helps them overcome abuse and loss.
