Lately, I've been immersed in interior design books that rate a high 5. This paperback left me a bit less than impressed, but it's a very easy read with some merit mostly based on the idea of "telling your own story". Far too often, the authors want to direct the style choices of readers, rather than giving tools (and permission) to live with what you love instead of following quick-to-die trends. This book is for you if you enjoy creating a personal space based on your personal tastes. Forget the 'trendy' and enjoy surrounding yourself with treasures chosen by you, and you'll forever feel at home in your personal environment.

I stumbled across this slim thing at the library this weekend, and I'm so enamoured of these homes. I've been indulging in a lot of gigantic coffee table books featuring a lot of gilded interiors after the fashion of the Great Decorators, and now is the time to come back down to earth and see what people nearby are doing with their homes and lives. This book really does manage to relate stories without having them feel condensed.
