Cooper, is loving and 100% loyal to his family, but his also grumpy as hell. He has so many things to take care of at his family's business and adding one more thing to his already hectic schedule isn't something he isn't looking forward to. But when a two by four from his truck crashes into the window of a bookstore, and he meets the owner, everything changes.
...this book was just... beautiful.
The chemistry and the development of their relationship was beautiful.
The slow burn really worked perfectly for this couple, especially with everything that Skye had gone through, and Cooper was behind her, he was patient and never let her doubt his intentions.

These Westwood men have stolen my heart! Cooper is EVERYTHING! From the moment an unexpected accident brings Cooper and Skye face to face, Cooper goes above and beyond for Skye. Skye is such a precious, kind soul with so much loss and hurt in her life. A man like Cooper is exactly what she needs and deserves. Someone who is going to jump through every obstacle to show how special, worthy, and loved she is. Skye was very honest about her situation and Cooper never let that deter him from showing her she was worthy of so much more.
Just as she has many times before, Evans has such a gift at weaving together strong family dynamics in her books. This family is one of my favorites she's ever written. They are welcome, loving, accepting, and everything you'd hope for in a in-law family situation. The way they love their children and their partners is something that you just don't see often these days so it's refreshing to read and dream. Even the siblings/spouses all have such an amazing bond. After being so betrayed, Skye desperately needed the arms wide open welcome she received from Coopers family.
I could go on and on about this book and it would never be enough to describe the depths of my love for it. When Evans started this series, I was so scared I'd have a hard time loving a new family the way I have the others, because just how much better can she make them, right?! I was SO wrong. She just keeps giving us better and better every time.
I listened to this on Audible and as always, the narrators truly gave life to this story. Their voices and abilities to show every emotion was fantastic. Of all the audible books I've listened to, somehow Evans books always get the best of the best where narrators are concerned.

Cooper is loving, determined, patient and hardworking, showing up for those he loves. Skye is sweet, kind, hardworking and in desperate need of someone to show up for her.
Skye is the owner of The Next Chapter bookstore. She has lost everyone in her life that she loves. And when she finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her with her "best friend", she feels desperately alone, is heartbroken and swears off ever having anyone else in her life that means anything to her.
Cooper is the Operations and Maintenance Manager at his family's company. With all of the different business areas of the Westwood Company, it keeps him extremely busy with little time for anything else.
Fate and Mother Nature decide to step in bringing Cooper careening into her life when, in a freak accident, Skye ends up with a broken door that needs fixing. And while he is there installing the new door a few days later, he steps up once again to help shield her from an uncomfortable encounter.

Man oh Man!! These Westwood men do 𝘯𝘰𝘵 play around when they set their sights on someone!!😍 I loved the way Cooper stepped up for her so fully!! The slow burn pace of the romance was perfect for the context of the story, and the chemistry was definitely there!!🔥 Her story was full of so much tragic loss and betrayal that seeing her find such an amazing man and his phenomenal family was totally heartwarming! The Westwood girl squad was awesome, as was their mom and grandmother that gave her a bond that she’d been missing. This family brings plenty of witty banter, fun, camaraderie, and steadfast support, which is exactly what Skye needed. I am loving this series so much, and I am super curious about Tate and Ava! Their story can’t come soon enough for me!!

I am loving this series. Broken Heart is a beautifully written, enchanting, finding-your-soulmate romance that will grab a hold of your heart right from the start. Ms. Evans writes with such emotion and delivers a slow-burn story that will have your emotions all over the place.
Ms. Evans will have you crying for Syke while also wanting to give her a little push in the right direction. She is dealing with a shattered heart thanks to her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend. Next thing she is dealing with Cooper Westwood, who literally crashed through her door at her bookstore. There is an instant attraction and connection to Skye, something he has never felt before. Cooper is a Westwood and we have learned that they love hard but Cooper is a fixer and when he hears about the shattered heart that Skye is protecting, he is determined to fix it, and piece it back together. The only thing is he wants her heart to be pieced back with part of his heart. Will his determination have Skye falling for him and allowing him to fix her heart? Skye slowly opens up to Cooper and his family. Feeling as though she has people who have accepted her makes her feel better about life.
Cooper is a man that we would all love to have in our lives. Sweet, sexy, caring, kind and sweeps you off your feet. He protects the ones he loves and he steps up for Skye, a woman he just met.
I cannot wait to see what the next book in The Westwoods series will bring us.

4.5 Stars - Super Slow Burn
In the second installment of The Westwood's series, the spotlight falls on Cooper Westwood and Skye, the determined owner of the local bookstore who's mending a recently broken heart.
I absolutely loved Cooper from the get-go. He’s a mild-mannered rich guy that has the best personality, even if his family claims him to be highly strung. Cooper is the head of maintenance for the Westwood companies, a job he doesn’t take lightly. He’s always busy and doesn’t like to waste time…even if it’s for another family meeting. Cooper meets Skye in an unusual/cute way and we’re off to the races with these two.
Skye has sworn off men after finding out her ex was a lying, cheating scumbag. She’s used to being alone in the world, not that she likes it, however she isn’t surprised by it once again. Because he’s such a nice guy, Cooper steps in and saves the day for Skye and they instantly feel the sparks fly between them. What happens with the rest of the book is a slow song and dance between these two. Cooper is trying to acclimate her to his huge family life and Skye is learning to love again.
The book is well written and a great addition to the series. Along with our main characters, we are involved with the rest of the Westwood family, including Rhea and Wyatt from book one. Looks like Tate Westwood is up next, and I’ll be patiently waiting to see how he uses that Westwood charm!

Went into this with a clean bill of health, now I have diabetes.
SO FREAKING SWEET. This was my first book from AK Evans and the bar has been set pretty freaking high. Jesus Howard Christ but I love such unproblematic leads! Skye truly lives up to her affectionate nickname: sweetheart. With a difficult life she’s had so far you wonder how she was able to stay so optimistic and not jaded with the a chip on her shoulder. She was raised with such love and care attributing to her sweet and lovable disposition. I just wanted to pick her up carry her in my pocket everywhere, she was that cute.
Going through all that loss at such an early age she really deserved the love and family she gained with Cooper Westwood and his clan. This was a near perfect body of work. And I say near perfect only because I would have loved more of a tangible retribution to the two who betrayed her aside from just a verbal warning. I felt so indignant for Skye and I just wish those two experienced more of a pariah-esque outcome from the rest of the community. I wish the rumor mill was so rampant to the point that they were ran out of town. Well that’s just me. Nobody’s perfect but Broken Heart certainly was close. Im giddy as heck to dive more into the Westwoods.

Skye is a tad bit lost. Or maybe just lonely. She’s been dealt some betrayal of the very worst kind, and now she’s got a new window where there should be a door. But she’s also got Cooper insisting that he can fix it…all of it, if she’ll just let him. Even if that just means friendship, he’s all in for Skye. If there’s ever a person I’d want in my corner and by my side during an awful time, I’m pretty sure Cooper would be very high on the list!
Cooper doesn’t just do the minimum. Nope. He does all the work and then some, even knowing that it may result in a grand new friendship but never anything more. He doesn’t understand how anyone could treat Skye the way they have, and I don’t blame him. She’s funny, sweet, smart, strong, loyal, and a whole lot of things that some didn’t deserve. But Cooper deserves all of that and he knows that Skye deserves the same in return. Maybe that’s why I loved these two so much. He’s got her back. She’s got his back. We are back with the Westwood siblings and this time it’s Cooper, the head of operations for the family company, who gets his story.
Skye Callahan owns a bookshop in town. Her childhood was tragic but thanks to her grandmother, it was filled with love. Nowadays, with no family, and having been betrayed by her boyfriend , she is truly alone and trusting someone with her heart is not in the cards.

Broken Heart is a beautifully dynamic love story with all the feels! Cooper Westwood is an alpha-protector powerhouse with a heart of gold. Grumpy in staff meetings and happy when he is with his family or building and creating, Cooper is an epic book boyfriend with a solid moral compass. Skye is delicate and strong, intelligent and sassy, funny and brave, lovely and lonely. I really connected with these two, from their histories to their personalities to how they interact with others around them: I just love how the author has crafted their characters and their story. From their first meeting to the last moment in the book, their journey is so much fun to follow: gorgeous connection, heartbreaking and sweet backstory, touching plot twists, and so much more. The narrators do an awesome job of bringing this world to audio life, adding an additional dimension to these characters’ personalities and their world. This is my favorite book in the series so far, and I can’t wait to see where we go next!

This book was wonderful! Right from the start my heart was broken for everything that Skye had gone through in her life. She was such a strong character and seeing her be betrayed by the people that should have been her biggest supporters was devastating. Understandably, Skye builds some pretty strong walls around her heart and doesn't plan on letting anyone in ever again. This is when Cooper crashes into her life, quite literally. I loved how he was drawn to her and the way that he carefully broke down those walls she put up. I also love that Skye was able to find the "family" she was missing in the other Westwoods. The way the entire family stepped up to show her that she isn't alone was beautiful. This book is wonderfully written! The characters are amazing, the chemistry between Skye and Cooper is off the charts and I was definitely feeling ALL of my emotions from start to finish. A must read book for sure!

I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Skye Callahan has been dealt a bad hand lately. The people closet to her betrayed her and her trust and now she is left questioning everyone’s motive. Cooper Westwood literally comes crashing into her life but Skye doesn’t want to see what is in front of her. This slow burn romance was the perfect blend of grumpy alfa male and girl trying to find her way. This is book 2 in the Westwood series and if there is anything that I’ve learned while reading this series is that when a Westwood decides on something, there is no stopping them. Cooper and Skye strike a deal they soon realize that they have a connection and it’s up to Cooper to convince Skye to see what honestly and loyalty are like. Skye could be stubborn but without giving any spoilers away I really like that she stood her ground when it mattered. Cooper quickly climbed the ladder of my favorite AK Evans characters. I’m really enjoying the Westwood series and I can’t wait for the next one!

I had no idea that "grumpy" Cooper was going to be such a teddy bear but I loved it so much! He was a big softie for Skye but that was exactly what she needed after all she had been through. The way he was so patient and steadfast with Skye was so heartwarming. He became her friend, protector, and eventually her forever. These Westwood men know how to treat a lady right and I am here for it! The slow burn and build up between these two could not have been more perfect. She needed to heal and realize her worth and Cooper allowed her to do that, and at the same time helped her get there. Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson were perfect as Cooper and Skye! I loved how they made these characters feel like we know them for real. Another great story from one of the best, A.K. Evans.

I loved this story of Cooper and Skye!! Skye was lonely and broken hearted. Cooper was always grumpy and constantly busy with work. Loved it! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. Broken Heart is the second book in The Westwoods series. This story is about Cooper and Skye!! Skye was lonely and broken hearted. Cooper was always grumpy and constantly busy with work. They met by a twist of fate. Skye ends up with a broken door. And while he is there installing the new door a few days later. He is right there to help shield her from an uncomfortable encounter. This is a slow burn and build up between these two could not have been more perfect. I love seeing their bond grow so beautifully was so heartwarming, and amazing. I definitely can’t wait for the next book! I highly recommend reading this story. Keep up the amazing work!

I enjoyed the characters, the nature way their hopes and fears were discussed and the banter between characters-both side characters and the main characters. Skye and Cooper are different but similar. I love how he was protective of Skye but not overprotective. He gave her the support she needed to trust him and herself after her past relationship failed so spectacularly. I like that there was not much angst or drama. I can’t wait to see which Westwood will fall next.

Skye and Coopers story was terrific. Ever since the prequel, I've been anticipating everyone in the Westwood's family's HEA story, and getting to know each child. Their meet was unique, and even though Skye was hesitant to succumb to his charms for obvious reasons given her history, Cooper was patient and persistent (well maybe he didn't have to be too persistent because she gave in quick time wise but ya know, that's how romance books work). Cooper is the grumpy child, but his personality with Skye is adorable. Cannot wait for the next one! I love Teddy Hamilton as a narrator, and teamed with Ava Erickson to bring this to life amazingly.

Ah I’m really enjoying this new series. The characters are engaging and entertaining. Cooper and Skye couldn’t come from more different backgrounds but that doesn’t stop themselves for being exactly right for each other. The emotional rollercoaster ride is wonderful and I got swept up in their story very quickly. Ms Evans stories have a distinct way of drawing you in and keeping you not only entertained but fulfilled at the end of the book. Saying that I always struggle with what to read next and often need a reread of past books after. The narration as always is excellent. I find this really enhances my enjoyment of the story.

Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson voiced Cooper and Skye, masterfully. Skye was sweet and shy and after losing so many people in her life she struggled to strike new friendships. Cooper came from a big family where nothing was missing but sometimes he could be impatient. They couldn’t be more worlds apart but somehow they clicked.
I loved Skye. She’s been through so much since she was young and her latest loss felt like the beginning of the rest of her life. Meeting Cooper and her family really brought her back to enjoying life and the things she was missing.
This was a feel good, low angst audiobook and pleasantly enjoyable.

An awesome slow burn! I adored this story. Skye is broken hearted after being betrayed by the two people she was closest to. Cooper Westwood is the contractor of the business. While hauling materials to his next job he had a slight mishap, which lucky for him led home straight to Skye.
This was a fantastic book! I loved the slow burn, and the friendship that formed first. The story was very sweet, and Cooper is the perfect book boyfriend. I definitely can’t wait for the next book! This whole series so far is absolutely wonderful to read!

Fantastic BOOK. I absolutely talked in love with the sweet and romance. I was well written with action packed of drama. Cooper Westwood and Skye Callahan was a drama couple who deep we in love with passion that will take over their entire lives. With the betrayal of lies and secrets and scandals. But their emotions and chaos was intense. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. Cooper and Skye are such a cute couple! Cooper falls for Skye first and has his mind set on changing Skye’s mind on relationships. Skye is hesitant in relationships after loss and betrayal in her life. Cooper is such a gentleman throughout the entire book. This friends to lovers story is beautifully written.
