Fire and Desire #3

The Flame King's Queen

Rate this book
Our hearts are fated, but love is a fiery path.

Enemies and friends alike have tried to burn our love to cinders, but through the smoke and ash, the Flame King and I have always found our way back to one another.

When Zabriel places a crown upon my head, his blood and his scent sing of his love for me. All of Maledin celebrates my coronation with the most spectacular Dragon Games the country has ever seen.

But the celebrations are laced with calamity as riders from the wild flare demand to participate, and evil finds its way within the sturdy castle walls.

Maledin’s darkest hour upon us. Fate is not enough to save us, and we will endure the fiery blade of battle only if our love burns true.

Author’s note: The Flame King’s Queen is a slow-burn non-shifter omegaverse MF romantasy set in a fantasy world of magic and dragonriders. Zabriel is a jealous and possessive hero, and Isavelle is a strong but sweet heroine. This is the final book for Isavelle and Zabriel in the Fire and Desire series.

The finale story between Zabriel  and Isavelle. And like book 2, we pick right back up. It's drama and murder and betrayal from the ones who were against them. My poor babies, you can't trust anyone. I said that since book 1 lol.
My babies are growing into being king and queen learning, growing the kingdom from friends and foe.

I love watching how Zab and Isa are now since book 1. From her hating him and not wanting him to touch her to loving every inch of her mate. 😭😭😭 many things are happening for them in this book. I loved every second.
🤰I'll leave it with one emoji, lol.

We have dragon games, which we see my baby Isa fly and gain respect from ppls!! We get more drama from side charas. Dragonssss!!!
I think this was a good ending for this couple, and I can't wait to see them in another couples book.

We get a sneak of our next couple, who I'll say I wanted to smack since day 1. Zen and Stesha, he better not fudge things up. He makes me wanna shake him and leave him outside for the pain he's caused.

No ow/om drama, secondary character, drama, Sexy times, no virgins

BEFORE READING:

SHOW ME TO IT RACHEL. PLEASE.

Update (19/1/25): omg the date was pushed back. I’m dying here!!!!!!!!!

AFTER READING:

I think I would’ve been more invested if I reread Books 1-2. I still absolutely loved it, and delayed finishing it because I don’t want this to be the end of this couple. Adored the epilogue 🥰 Love this entire series, it’s now one of my all time favourites. I NEED MORE IN THIS UNIVERSE FOREVER!!!!

In the final installation of the Fire and Desire trilogy, Zabriel and Isavelle are poised to battle a longstanding evil force yet a few obstacles remain to test their fortitude.

“Our heroes are celebrated and our fallen mourned.”

Narrated in dual POV, Zabriel remains the ever protective and vigilant Alpha king as Isavelle continues to find her strengths as a witch and Omega. The secondary characters played a pivotal role while getting queued for their own books. My reading experience plateaued early in this book, as much of the plot points felt unnecessary to the essential storyline, though I thoroughly enjoyed the addition of Kane. While this author is a talented and effective storyteller, this one didn’t wow me despite liking this created fantasy world.

JUST FINISHED READING THE SECOND BOOK AND LOVED IT. So here’s the thing I have a theory about Stesha and zenevieve. What if they are mates?? I know you must think I’m insane because she’s not an omega, but emeric said that “ they don’t deserve to be happy” and that he is soo powerful that he stoped something. What if that something is their bond.
Maybe I’m just insane and too excited about the next book but please if someone is reading this TELL ME WAHT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS!!!
Love this series 🤍🤍🤍

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Type: Book 3 of Fire and Desire
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

As the kingdom slowly returned to normal, Zabriel and Isavelle treated the people of Maledin to a grand celebration. But beyond the revelry, the enemies crept closer, threatening to rip away everything they fought for.

This book moved slowly for me until the final 15%, where the tension finally peaked. I felt a lot of it was fluff and focusing too much on other characters (that I loved) who vastly overshadowed the main characters. Certain scenes also ended up anticlimactic. Kane and the wild flare were my favorite parts of the book.

The Flame King’s Queen is a story of empowerment. It’s the conclusion of Zabriel and Isavelle’s story.

The Flame King’s Queen was the perfect, fiery finale to a series that has officially ruined me. I laughed, I swooned, and yes—I cried because it’s over. Chloe Chastaine built a world so rich and characters so lovable that saying goodbye physically hurt. Can’t wait to read Stesha’s POV, sobbing that it’s going to be a whole year

Chloe, what a book. I’m so thankful I got to read this as an ARC. The story was incredible, kept me hooked all the way through. So many emotions, such a rollercoaster. I love you writing style and will forever be an auto buy author for me. The character growth through out all the characters was done incredibly well, perfect mix of plot and spice 🌶️

Tropes : dragon rider, fantasy romance, witch, omegaverse, alpha x omega, fated mate, touch her and ☠️, J/P H, obsessed H
Ending : HEA (have a daughter)
Triggers : violence, attempted SA, gore, abuse, torture
Spice : 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Angst : 🔥🔥🔥/5
OM/OW drama : none
Intimacy details: oral, rough sex, biting, hair pulling, no condom, slight breeding kink
Standalone/Series : book 3/3

Hero : King of Flame/ Zabriel (524?)
Heroine: Isavelle (19?)

This is why I don’t read incomplete series because by the time the latest one came out, I would be forgetting the previous one already.

I only remember snippets from the previous book and it messed with my flow so bad ugh. My immersion was destroyed and I couldn’t do this book any justice since I loved the previous books. Gaaahh

Anyway, I enjoyed this one, not as much as I would if I read this right after I finished the second book. Idk whether I’ll read the next book of this universe.

I love, love Zabriel and Isavellas story!! Such a fun read.

This book was just filler material, though, in my opinion. I was excited for a fun plot after the last cliffhanger of book two. But it was all about dragon games and raveena/Kane when Emmeric was still out on the lose lol. Like why do they care more about games than getting Emmeric 😅

I am SO EXCITED for Stecha and Zen's story next!!!! Eek it will be so good 😊

I love Zabriels adoration for Isavelle as usual but things kind of seemed to teeter for me on this last one. we're in the finale but for some reason they decide to do a dragon game competition instead of hunt down their villian? It just didnt make a lot of sense to me.

Whew a TON happened in this one! Murders, mayhem, tons of spice, babies, dragons, and on and on. I really enjoy this series and the queen coronation was a lot of fun. The steamy scenes were good, although it could have used a few more IMO. Looking forward to reading Ravenna’s story.

I found this rather boring for a final book in a trilogy. made me sad because i love this author and loved this series. still had fun and cute moments, but i legit struggled to get through it, whereas i binged book 1 in one day. rip 💔

The rating prob is more about the series instead of this single book. In this one, we have babies and resolution. The ending, or defeat of the big bad seemed anticlimactic. The Rowena/Kayne bothered me a bit, too.

What a marvelous finale to the Fire and Desire series. I was very much satisfied with how it all ended.

My favorite couple, Zabriel and Isavelle, were reunited after the last book's cliffhanger and were stronger than ever. I especially enjoyed reading their separate first-person POVs. I was also quite interested in the relationships of these two with the other characters, including Zenevieve, Stesha, and Ravenna. Kane was a cruel character, but I am still curious and suspicious about his motives after all these events, especially with Ravenna.

The dragons were all back, and I fell in love with them even more. I loved how close the characters and dragons were with each other. Speaking of dragons, there was a competition called the Dragon Games, which was most entertaining and thrilling to read about.

CW - breeding

Tropes - jealous, possessive, omegaverse, fantasy, touch her and die, pregnancy,

What an amazing end to Zabriel (MMC) and Isavelle's (FMC) story. As with books 1 and 2, I absolutely LOVED this book, the world, the characters, the story.

This book picks up right where book 2 leaves off as the characters continue to navigate the evil wreaking havoc on their world. I felt like we got a very nice split between war and politics and the characters’ relationship. I really enjoyed watching them go into battle, protect their people but also love on each other and prepare for the growth in their family.

THE. DRAGONS. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I can’t begin to put into words how much I ADORE the dragons in this series. Esmeral and Scourge?! Like please 😭😭😭😭. The Dragon Games were such a nice addition to the story.

While this is the end of Zabriel and Isavelle’s story, I can’t wait to read Stesha and Zenevieve’s story in The Dragonmaster's Mate

Well… I was waiting for this book with such eagerness and now I’m disappointed

Although this book did made a storyline finished and plot was not bad, this book was much weaker than previous 2. I didn’t get this feeling of deepest affection between main characters. The passion was almost palpable in previous books, but here we hardly even get spicy scenes. A spice for few paragraphs when before it was 2 chapters? Meh

I expected to get hot, kinky ending of this trilogy (the potential was so good)

Even dialogues were written in awkward way, not deep at all. A lot of writing in the way of telling, not showing. A lot of “I go there, I did this etc etc”

Some unnecessary events were introduced while author could use this page-time to make deeper conversations and emotional scenes

I was feeling like reading short chronology of events instead of romance story

Sad, very sad

These books kept my interest from start to finish. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I cannot wait for Stesha’s POV! That man is a mystery I am ready to solve!

Thanks to the author for sharing her talent with the world and to Moonlight Book Box for introducing me to such a great series!! I got the first book in my monthly box about a year ago and saw they are finally finishing the series so I decided it was time to read them and I’m so glad I did.

This is book 3 in a series and CANNOT be read alone, you have to read the others first. Book 2 ends on a cliffhanger and this picks right up where that left off.

I loved books 1 and 2 but I think I loved this one more. I freaking love Zabriel so much. The relationship between him and Isavelle is perfection and I have loved watching it grow and develop over the series. I love the alpha/omega aspect. And, DRAGONS. We always love a story with dragons.

I think Zabriel and Isavelle got the perfect HEA after their insane journey.

I can't wait to see what happens with Steasha and Kane!

This was a nice ending for Zabriel and Isabelle’s story. I love seeing them together and how much Isavelle has grown since book 1. Also, Scourge and Esmeral have my whole heart and seeing their hea also made me happy.
A delightful read, I can’t wait for Stesha’s story!

I wish that I could say that this one was as good as the others, but it wasn’t anywhere close. I was bored for the majority of this book and only followed through because I wanted to close out the story on a good note. While I did read the happy ending, I was not impressed with the rest of the story. The dragon games came out of nowhere and the story of his brother and him was a huge let down. It just felt like there were a bunch of plot holes that were left unvisited for the closing of these books. I would have rated this a one star, but gave it 2 simply because I loved the first two books and was invested in the main characters.

Book Name/Series: The Flame King’s Queen (Fire and Desire #3)
Author: Chloe Chastaine
Standalone?: No. This is the third book in a trilogy.

4 Stars

My Opinion: This is the final book in Zabriel and Isavelle’s story and it was an enjoyable read overall. It did a good job of picking up the loose ends from book 2 and explaining some of the things that happened. I also still absolutely loved the dragons. There were some things that I felt were a little drawn out or where I thought the book focused too much on secondary characters, which overshadowed the main storyline a bit.

Hero: 5/5. I liked Zabriel just as much in this one as I did in the previous books. He was supportive, understanding, encouraging and protective.
Heroine: 5/5. Isavelle really came into her own in book 2 and 3. She was strong, kind, and resilient.

POV: 1st person POV (Zabriel and Isavelle).

Push/Pull:

Sadness: 1/5.

Explicit Sex and Spice Level: Yes. 2/5.

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) Drama: No.

Separation:

Cheating: No.

Closure/Ending: HEA.

2🌶️

The epic conclusion to Isavelle and Zabriel’s story comes in this third installment, the Flame King’s Queen.

This book picks up right off where book 2 ended and continues the journey to defeat Zabriel’s brother, Emmeric, and the dark essence possessing him.

In the meantime, Isavelle have a new challenge set before them: parenthood. Isavelle already had so many expectations on her and is now going to be crowned Queen. Still nervous how people will perceive her being a queen and a witch, she does all she can to show her people her heart and spirit.

As in the last 2 books, this is very fast-paced. The story moves along quickly and it definitely felt like some of the battles they faced were resolved quicker than I expected.

The spice 🌶️ was still there, but definitely toned back a little from books 1 & 2. A little disappointing but also made way for more of the plot for sure.

This is the end for Isavelle’s and Zabriel’s POV story but I am SO excited for Stesha and Zeneviere’s story! I love those 2 and need to see it! I also feel like Kane/Ravenna/Ashton’s story is right out there for the grabbing too and so would like to see a book for Ravenna, because I think her character has so much potential but even Kane, there is more there to him than meets the eye. And of course, love me some Captain Ashton ❤️

Do you like interesting concepts that are executed with the finesse of a blind dog swinging a hatchet? Do you enjoy plot holes big enough to sail the Titanic through? Do you enjoy mysteriously magical pregnancies that last somewhere between 2.5 and 10 weeks, but the whole world might actually exist in some sort of timeless bizarro land (and not in an intentional way)? Do you like books that have more dropped threads than a beginner learning how to knit a sweater?
Then this book is for you!
