It started as a game. But playing against Jet Grant is a surefire way to have my heart broken.
Staying with my grandfather’s friend in his country mansion is supposed to be a retreat. Somewhere peaceful that allows my creative passions to flow as I work on the most important thing in my life. It’s perfect. Until his son turns up. Jet Grant, thirty-three-year-old CEO of Atlantic Airways. Rich, intelligent, handsome, And a giant jerk. His reputation as a shark in business with a sour attitude to match precedes him. And soon he’s insinuating that I’m a freeloader in his father’s house. Something fires up inside me and before I know it I’ve agreed to be his PA while he’s in London to show him what I’m capable of. He’s seething, and it only makes the desire to play with him stronger. Because something about the way those deep blue eyes of his ignite when I push him has me determined to make him snap. And when he does… I no longer stand a chance. Jet Grant is the last person I’d ever want to fly off into the sunset with. I should know better than to start a game with a man who will do anything to make sure that he’s the winner. Because before I even made my first move, he was playing me too. And no one wins against Mr. Grant.
★★★★★
What to expect - This is a full length, stand-alone spicy romance. Be prepared for luxury travel, banter, jealousy, groveling, a whole lot of spice, and a billionaire boss who is determined to have what he wants, because love always wins.
Playing with Mr. Grant is book 10 in The Men series and it might be my favorite one yet. Jet is the ultimate grump, and Ava was his perfect bratty match. The tension between these two was insanely hot, and the spice was even hotter. I can always count on Elle for a great read and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Playing with Mr. Grant is, as it turns out, book 11 in Elle’s “Mr.” series — but as it was my first book I’ve read of hers (as an arc) I wanted to start by saying it’s a really strong stand-alone!
Why you’ll love it: 🖤 Billionaire romance 🖤 Age gap (10ish years) 🖤 V spicy 🖤 Highly emotional 🖤 Hard fought HEA
Why I loved it (4.5 ⭐️)…
What a ride this book takes us on! Our MMC Jet is the quintessential broody, closed off billionaire, while FMC Ava, a houseguest of Jet’s dad, is spunky and rebellious (while also dealing with the long-term aftermath of severe trauma).
Together, they are combative, explosive, and let’s face it, hot as hell. When Jet hires Ava to help him as he travels the globe to secure a deal to save the family airline business, they are thrown together — and sparks fly. Their physical relationship is one of the spiciest I’ve read in recent memory — like habanero levels. 🌶️
But throughout this complex storyline, we discover the intricacies of how both of them are dealing with their own pain in similar and different ways — and ultimately, how they find solace, companionship and eventually love in each other. Their road to an HEA was full of switch-backs, left turns, roadblocks and to some degree, self-sabotage. But every page felt important to the story, to our understanding of these very flawed characters and to their ultimate, beautiful conclusion.
This book was such a pleasant surprise for me, going in blind to the author and series. I am now a huge fan and can’t wait to go back and read the rest of the series!
Playing with mr grant is that last book in the men series.
Jet Grant is a arrogant possessive billionaire who I loved when he show both sides to his character
Ava is a 23 year old woman who something to work on, she stay at jet father house to work on herself these two meet and my god the tension between them from the off was electrifying Jet normally speak and everyone jumps but not Ava😂 the sassy woman gives as good as she gets and these two had me hooked wanting to turn the page to see what was next.
This book has every emotion possible you can get when you read a book and Elle has written yet another fabulous book.
It even better as we get to see Logan Rich and Jay Anderson as well as Matt and stefan in a chapter but by the end we get to see nearly all the other men from the series
This was a fantastic book to end a fabulous series roll on Elle new series
I love Elle Nicoll's books with all my heart, but this book it’s just a different level of greatness.
This was the perfect ending to an amazing series.
Jet.. what can I say about the man who stole my heart since the first chapter? This man is everything, he is an alphahole, possessive, dirty-mouthed, and unhinged. His character development was amazing and his grovel was just perfect. I am obsessed with him!!!
Ava is a strong FMC, a true brat who made me laugh and cry more times than I can count. She stole my heart from the start.
Jet and his Firefly had explosive chemistry, that almost combusted my Kindle 😮💨🔥🤣
This book spice is on a different level.. HOT HOT HOT. Let’s just say I will never forget. 👌🏻
The plot, the characters, and the spice were just perfection! 🔥🤌🏻
“You’re deranged.” “I’m fucking obsessed.”
I had the pleasure of ARC reading this book and I need to thank you, Elle 🩶 for being so amazing to me. 🫶🏻
✈️ bosshole billionaire ✈️ grumpy x feisty ✈️ enemies to lovers ✈️ age gap
I struggled to really connect with Jet and Ava. The age gap seemed glaring obviously at times when she acted very immaturely and it was supposed to come off as teasing. Jet was awful to her and I couldn’t understand why she kept putting herself in unhealthy relationships with people. I couldn’t even feel bad for her anymore after a certain point. Don’t even get me started on Ava’s mom. I didn’t like Jet until the end. He did eventually redeem himself but by then it felt too late and we only got so much of it. I was proud of Ava for finally living for herself at the end.
I’ve never read any of the other books in this series nor from this author so this could just be my perception clouding my judgements. I’m sure some people will be able to look past the things I disliked.
billionaire romance. reluctant roommates. she’s stepping in as his assistant. travelling the world to close a deal. serious grump meets seductive sunshine girl. traumatic past. Outstanding spice.
I’m actually struggling to put into words what I think about this book. I laughed, I cried and Elle Nicoll has actually managed to leave me completely speechless at the spicy scenes. THE GLASS?! I did not know that I needed to read about a glass being involved in the bedroom but I can only say thank you.
I discovered Elle Nicoll quite some time ago and she is definitely one of my go to authors! She just wrjtes such meaningful and gripping stories that are full of relatable and unique characters, incredible storylines while incorporating some of the best smut I have read.
* I kindly received an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review*
Elle Nicoll books are everything! Seriously, she writes some of the best romance. Not only is there plenty of spice, but the plot and storylines are always outstanding! The romance she writes is beautiful, epic, emotional, angsty, swoon-worthy and just plain perfect!
This book is about Jet and Ava’s epic, soulmates, love story. Jet is the CEO of the U.S. division of his families international airline company. (And how cute is it that his family owns an airline and they named him Jet?). Ava just finished her masters in business and lives in England. She decides to stay with her grandfathers friend for a few months in order to get some much needed writing done. Jet needs to fly to England to handle a company crisis. The two become roommates but they instantly get off on the wrong foot. He’s arrogant and rude and wants has to be in control and she’s bratty and likes to push his buttons. Their story has so much emotion, angst and dealings with grief. I was really worried there for a long time after the betrayal. But these two are the epitome of an epic love story.
I loved this so, so much! Her books just draw you in right away and everything flows so well.
Mr Grant is the last from this beloved Men Series and Elle really wanted him to be memorable. I just love how Elle always gives us so much plot with these twists and turns you don’t see coming and enough spice to have you sweating throughout the book! This has been a long series with so many men to fall in love with. Each guy brings their own unique qualities.
Jet is a little bit grumpy but he is mostly work focused. He is CEO of an airline company and he is completely devoted to the job. Ava has just finished school and is spending time at her grandfather’s friend's house to take some time for herself. Ava lost her father and has her own trauma from that experience and her mother left her in England to move to LA. Ava and Jet don’t start off as friends but when they start working together, things heat up between them. They bicker, and she pushes his buttons, and he is quite rude to her and then they make up in bed. Jet has to have all the control and it causes them to go back and forth constantly. I had a hard time liking Jet because he really did come off as cruel and really cold. I needed a little more of something likeable to balance him out.
The emotional journey that Elle takes you on for the end of this book is enough to really capture you and keep you reading until you hit the end. I just couldn’t put it down! For a second I was worried on how we would reach the HEA but one thing I have learned with this series is to always trust Elle!
I feel like I say this for each book of the men series, "this one is my favourite" 😂 but Jet and Ava are definitely favourites. I don't want to give away any spoilers in the review as the story is to be enjoyed on the page, but Jet is your classic controlling, alpha, emotionally cautious MMC and Ava is sassy, determined but also working through her own emotions. Just as a taste between them, "you're deranged".... "I'm fucking obsessed" . The first time Jet and Ava meet, pretty much sums up the dynamics, she pushed his buttons so easily and he just cannot help but react. Both the character journeys they go on are carefully and thoughtfully developed over the story. There is heartbreak, plot twist, and a perfect apology and redemption for them both. What a way to end this epic series, perfection.
The final book in this series and it certainly ended with a bang! This has been a really enjoyable series and I love how we got to see mentions of all the previous characters in this book- it really rounded out the series nicely and I love when authors give us glimpses into everyone’s futures.
I think I’ll be firmly in the minority here but I was not a fan of Jet Grant. I really struggled to like him or connect with him which I think impacted my enjoyment of the story. I really felt for Ava, and at times I thought she deserved much better than Jet (again I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion!) So whilst this wasn’t my favourite book of the series, I’m sure others will love it. There’s a couple of great plot twists I didn’t see coming.
There’s no doubt Elle is a very talented writer and I’m so excited for her new series and what she has in store for us! Thank you Elle for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was not what I expected but Im glad I read it. Jet and Ava were great together and that angst was on the top shelf. Ava's story broke me at times but I loved watching her grow and heal. There were times I wanted to shake Jet but at the same time, I wanted to hug him. Ava and Jet were complicated individuals but you couldn't but love them. The story was wonderful but at the same time makes me sad because its the end of the series.
The prologue immediately drew me in. The story was so good and kept me guessing near the mid-end.
Ava was the perfect sassy, BRATTY fighter heroine we love. And Jet was the dark alpha-hole man we love to throw our girl power rights to the side for. Strong dominating and sexy.
Great storyline, GREAT spice and a very hard fought for HEA. Loved this story and will definitely go back and read some more of the “The Men” series by Elle!
This was my first ever read by Elle and to say I will be picking up more of her books is an understatement! Her writing was very captivating and had me drawn in from the first few chapters. I couldn’t get over the grumpiness Jet had towards Ava and everyone around him. Ava was very feisty and definitely put Jet in his place time and time again. Also who doesn’t love a billionaire romance where he forces her to use his Amex card?! This story will pull on your heart strings and make you blush at the same time!
Tropes Bosshole Billionaire Use My Credit Card Groveling Grumpy/Fiesty Possessive
Wow this was so hot. I absolutely loved every second of this book. The spice level is insane. The story is so good. The main male character is to die for. The twist about what he allowed was so insane. I really didn't see it coming and I was so mad about what he did. This was such a great book and had all my emotions going.
This is so bittersweet. The end of an era. But an amazing book to finish it on. I'm sad it's done but looking forward to what's to come next. Jet was the perfect grump amd his little hissy fits made me lol. Ava was great and really pushed him, she is so special and deserved the best. Another perfect book!
Jet Grant, I wasn’t sure what to make of you at first but I came around and ended up loving you. The spice in this is hot and steamy and just what I’ve come to expect from Elle. There is a lot of angst in this book and tissues were definitely required and there’s a few twists you don’t see coming. This is the last in the series and they’re all interconnected standalones so u don’t necessarily need to read these in order. Such a well written book with loads of feels and an alphahole I loved to hate.
Every time I pick up a book by Elle, I'm completely enthralled and captivated.
Jet and Ava are so perfect for each other. Their push and pull is everything and more. Skipping is so hot now, IYKYK.
Seeing how they grow and develop both individually and as a couple is perfect. Jet is such a determined man that when he sets his mind to something, he always wins, no matter what.
The betrayal that Ava faces is such a turning point for her as a person, and how she handles it shines through in the most amazing way.
The emotions gripped me so much. I smiled, laughed, and cried so many times. Jet and Ava will stay with me.
Being the final book in the series, this book is so bittersweet. We get a full 360 from book one, and that warms my heart so much. It was the perfect t ending.
This series holds many fond memories for me. From introducing me to Elles' amazing writing and stories to falling in love with the characters. It will hold a special place in my heart.
This is my first book by Elle and it won’t be my last. This was the last book in this series and it was so good hey and Anna friends enemies to lovers the banter was great and the chemistry was even better
I really wanted to love this book as I have with the rest of the series. But I couldn't connect with either Ava or Jet. The sex scenes were rough, a lot of spanking. And then the co mingling of body fluids after sex which were placed in a glass for Ava to drink. Yes, in a glass. There was a lot of unnecessary anguish and Jet never laughed or smiled, except for a slight uptilt of his lips. There are bonus chapters set five years later where we catch up with some of the past characters, which were great. Jet and Ava still has that glass, anal play with a five carat diamond, and a pair of panties shoved inside of her while they have sex. Because Jet wants to 'fuck' those panties into her. And by golly gosh he does.
I absolutely loved Playing with Mr Grant, Jet and Ava are just such a juicy mix of banter, enemies to lovers, grumpy and feisty it’s perfect! I always look forward to diving into another book in the Men series by Elle Nicoll and this was no exception apart from a twist of apprehension as it’s the final book in the interconnected stand alone series of 10 books which are all so beautifully written. A few favourite characters appearing at the end was a lovely way to finish the book/series. All I can say if you have not read any/all of the books in the Men series then it’s a must, such a talented beautiful author! 💖

Sooo this book was something to read when you’re looking for back and forth type of drama and a whole lot a spice. Honestly I couldn’t really tell you the plot bc a) there might not have been much to talk about and b) I skimmed through some stuff. This is the type of book I’ll read whenever I wanna turn off my brain and just read about two people’s lives. Speaking of the characters, I didn’t really care for them all that much. With all that being said though, it was entertaining. Not so much a great book I’d recommend to friends but still had me somewhat intrigued.
Jet is so judgmental. Wtf? Throwing stones from a glass house left and right.
What's up with Liv calling Ava a bitch everytime?? Ughh I hate when girls call each other or anyone a bitch as a joke or term of endearment 😒😒 Yuck
Anyways.... Ava is so stupid. Omg she's driving me crazy. Provoking Jet purposefully then getting mad when he snaps and gives her exactly what she asked for. Really? Girl, grow up.She talks all that talk about making him give in and lose control when she is the one who gives in first. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And he is such a jerk. Always. For no god damn reason. Not a good one. Even that whole shebang with the company, it's his fault. The consequences of his own actions. Keeping Ava to "help" him?? Pleaseeeee 🙄 Assistant you say? She has been completely useless to him in terms of business. She doesn't even have the smallest idea of what's happening. Outside of business? He's hot and cold. The way he speaks to her is so inappropriate and degrading (not in a good way). Such an entitled little shit. He treats her like she's dirt under his shoes and disregards her afterwards like trash. His excuse?? His mother died when he was a grown ass man and he doesn't know how to cope with it and now the whole female population has to bear his wrath. Lmaoooooooo I have no idea why that silly girl even entertains him. Seriously, so pathetic. Grow a backbone.
“I think you’ll hate me one day when you realize what I’ve taken from you.” He tucks the strand behind my ear and drops his hand to his side. His voice carries a warning. He’s telling me to keep away, but all it’s doing is making my panties wet as I stare into his darkened gaze. ????????? Be fucking for real THAT MF EVEN WARNED YOU. DO YOU NOT SEE HOW EMBARRASSING IT IS THAT IT TOOK SOME LOUSY ASS GIFTS TO MAKE YOU FALL FOR HIM TIME AFTER TIME WHEN HE TREATED YOU LIKE GARBAGE??? YOU ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE DISPOSABLE TO HIM. HE JUST SEES YOU AS AN OBJECT AND A WORTHLESS ONE AT THAT. WELL, I GUESS HE DID SEE YOUR WORTH AND USE IT TO HIS ADVANTAGE WHILE NOT BEING THE LEAST CONSIDERATE OF YOU. JET IS THE MOST DESPICABLE HUMAN BEING. THE WORST THING ABOUT HIS ACTIONS IS THAT HE'S NOT EVEN REMORSEFUL AND HE ABSOLUTELY WOULD DO IT AGAIN. HE WOULD WALK ALL OVER HER AND TAKE AWAY HER CHOICES FOR HER "BENEFIT". THE GASLIGHTING IS INSANEEEEEEE. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY ON THE WRONG. SO FUCKING WRONG. IT WAS NOT HIS CALL TO MAKE. I'LL NEVER BE CONVINCED THAT SHE MEANS ANYTHING TO HIM AND I WAS STUNNED AT HOW MUCH OF A DOORMAT AND WEAK AVA IS. AFTER EVERYTHING JET HAD THE NERVE TO FLASH FRANCESCA IN FRONT OF HER WHILE STILL FEEDING HER BULLSHIT ABOUT HOW HE WANTS TO KNOW IF SHE'S HAPPY AND THAT SHE'S HIS. THEN HE WENT AND SLEPT WITH ANOTHER BITCH HE MET AT A BAR????????? SLEPT WITH HER/ENTERTAINED HER - I DON'T KNOW, BUT FUCK HIM. HONESTLY NEVER HAVE I READ A BOOK WHERE ALL OF THE CHARACTERS ARE BEYOND REDEEMABLE.
No fucking clue when and how they fell in love either. He loves her??? Really??? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 All they did was have sex all the time and wtf were even those scenes??? I never comment on those, but they were bad.
All these delicious men in this fantastic collection of interconnected stories are just to die for. And with each one I’ve found myself falling in love with them, even though sometimes I wonder how or why.
That is certainly true of Jet Grant. Sure, he’s beautiful, powerful, intelligent, stupidly rich and supremely sexy but he’s also grumpy, arrogant, demanding, controlling and guarded. Nothing about Jet Grant is light hearted or easy going. He’s always so amped up, and tense that at first he is hard to love.
But aren’t these grumpy bossh0les the ones that you end up loving all the more? Something about seeing a man’s resistance to love slowly fall apart as he stops fighting his feelings is rewarding and satisfying.
And the fiery, feisty and utterly adorable Ava is the one that challenges his resolve with every single step. She’s a survivor… literally. After losing her father and nearly her own life in a plane crash, it seems somewhat ironic that the man who will inevitably change her life forever is the billionaire owner of one of the world’s largest airlines. Their paths cross when she is invited to the Grant families estate to write about her terrifying ordeal in order to help her to get some closure.
And boy, do their paths cross! The tension between them is explosive from the first moment.
Instead of cowering and running, she stands her ground and tries to get under his carefully constructed armour. Bit by bit and piece by piece she makes him take down his walls until she can discover the hurt, lost and damaged man beneath. It’s captivating watching the way they challenge and push each other’s buttons (in more ways than one) and their chemistry is off the charts.
But when it comes to saving his company or saving his heart, Jet’s sacrifice is the tipping point. The decision he has to make is one that he feels he will lose no matter which way he goes. Something has to give. Can a man who professes not to be able to love do something selfless from the depths of a heart he claims not to have to make the one person he’s ever felt anything for happy? My heart honestly broke.
Be warned though… everything is not as it first seems. There’s some sneaky little twists that bring everything you’ve been led to believe to a grinding halt. Certainly from my perspective, it restored my faith in my own judge of character. I can’t say too much because it will give it away, but all I will say is have faith in the mantra; love always wins.
Yet another fantastic story from this brilliant writer who always manages to create and develop characters that pull on your heart with so much force that you feel every emotion. Truly amazing. Well done, Elle. Keep these incredible stories coming.
