This is a well-written, entertaining, fast paced, steamy, contemporary romance novel. It has likable, engaging characters, a heart-warming romance, many laugh out loud moments, supportive friends, vividly described settings, a lovely message about marriage, and a happily ever after ending. This is the first entry in the Mile High Stallions series. Ms. Hovland's loyal readers will appreciate the appearance of characters from the Mile High Rocked series. I am looking forward to reading the next entry in this wonderful new series with great anticipation. I received an advanced reader copy of this delightful novel from the author. This is my honest opinion.

This is a book for all those who truly love romance, humor and seriously sexy times with real feelings.

This surprise story hooked me from the start and would not let go. It was unique in how it handled the hook of marriage of convenience, surprise. etc. and really took us on a lovely ride that kept getting better and better with every page.

Of course, this was not a surprise for me as I have been a huge fan of Christina Hovland for years. This hit all the perfect notes with real communication and life lessons to use in the real world.

You do not want to miss the lovely experience.

Stand alone by the author

This was sooo good! I was immediately pulled in from the first sentence, this book and the characters grabbed me till the end. It started out as a fake marriage, with dos and don’t . The hero Sloan being a football player and the heroine Maya being a backup singer wanted to be lead. They meet in Vegas and that’s when the instead attraction starts , and the rules until one of them wants to change them .

A little teaser

"Sloan, I don't know what you want me to say to this. I've done the love thing. I've spent most of my life being in love with love. But it never worked. What we have here, it works without the love part," I said, earnestly. "It works."

Salt and Pepper FTW
Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this book can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.
Sloan and Maya wake up married after a wild one-night-stand gone awry. Since Sloan has already been in the news, their wedding makes some serious headlines. After a discussion, they decide to make a go of it and set the foundational ground rules of their marriage. The number one rule is communication. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated this couple’s willingness to talk it out. Their salt and pepper conversations reminded me so much of my own marriage of almost 33 years. When we were newlyweds, we used a nerf football, standing in the kitchen, tossing it back and forth for important discussions. Sloan and Maya used this same premise but with salt and pepper.
Sloan is giving, kind, and down to earth. I love how he shares parts of himself with Maya that others do not see. Maya is guarded at first, but she falls for Sloan without realizing it. I loved her work ethic, her creativity, and her physicality with Sloan. I appreciated the difficulty and the effort they put into maintaining their relationship through the challenges of distance, travel, and time zones. I loved that Sloan has his coach, the voice of reason, reminding him of truths when he needs to hear them. I loved seeing cameos of Bax, Hans, and Brek. I also loved how the author brought in members of the Denver Stallions and gave them more personality that we sometimes get with secondary characters. Steamy in places, with sweet, romantic, moments (like lying on the couch holding each other as they face being apart for a while): This is my new favorite book by this author. The relationship that they build felt real to me. It will definitely be a reread.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Omg this book was so fun! My first book by Christina Hovland and I loved it! A wildly entertaining, romantic and steamy story, On the Map had me hooked from the very beginning. Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes and this book executed it well and left me wanting more of their story. I loved all the characters, both main and side characters, and look forward to more adventures with this group of friends!

Thank you to Christina Hovland and Literary Media Tours for a gifted copy of this book.

A topical, light-hearted romcom albeit the heroine here, backing singer Maya Mitchell isn’t quite as successful as a certain world-famous songbird but then again few singers are! When Maya went to Vegas, considering she has a history of spontaneous marriages, the last thing she intended to do was go anywhere near a wedding chapel, but she couldn’t really refuse an invitation from a friend especially one that came with free board & lodgings. The problems started with the apartment being double booked by her friend’s brother and his one of his clients, Sloane Steele, an American football player with a mouth that gets him into trouble. He’s in Sin City to allow the furore over his latest outburst to calm down and almost before they’ve had time to say ‘I do’ they’re waking up in bed together with no memories of the night before except for the rings on their fingers. For Maya it’s three times a bride, never a wife…... or is it? The last thing Sloane needs is more bad press so he proposes a marriage of convenience where the resulting publicity of capturing Denver’s most eligible bachelor just might give her career the kick it needs. All she has to do is fake it, till she makes it.

On the Map was a fast-paced romance with likeable characters that made for easy reading. Maya was down to earth and didn’t make excuses for her past decisions. She also didn’t do love so didn’t recognise it as it snuck up on her. Despite appearances I’d say Sloan was less outgoing than she was with his social circle restricted to his teammates and he was quite alone until the arrival of Maya in his life. They had a strong chemistry, and I loved their banter and dynamics. Together they came up with a plan and all was fine until one of them decided what they had wasn’t enough anymore. With its perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness I’d definitely be interested in reading more from characters introduced in this book if it should develop into a series.

Christina Hovland is a new author for me and I was super excited to read this light-hearted romcom that brings together two unlikely characters in a story full of humor, heart, and unexpected twists. The heroine, Maya Mitchell, is a talented but not world-famous backing singer with a colorful history of spontaneous marriages. Despite her previous misadventures, the last thing Maya intended to do on her trip to Las Vegas was to step foot near a wedding chapel. However, when a friend's invitation came with the promise of free board and lodging, she couldn't refuse.

This is a fast-paced romance with likable characters that make this an easy read. Maya is down-to-earth, owning her past decisions without excuses. She’s not accustomed to recognizing love, which sneaks up on her unexpectedly. Sloane, despite his public persona, turns out to be less outgoing than Maya, with a social circle limited mostly to his teammates. He leads a rather solitary life until Maya shakes things up.
The chemistry between Maya and Sloane is electric, and their banter and dynamics are a delight. Their plan to maintain a façade works until emotions deepen, and one of them realizes that the pretense is no longer enough. Hovland strikes a perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness in their relationship, making it both heartwarming and sizzling.

This held my interest as I am not a die-hard rom com fan, so I did find it difficult to put down. Maya’s character is refreshing in her honesty and resilience, making her someone I could easily root for. Sloane’s vulnerability beneath his tough exterior adds depth to his character, making their romance all the more compelling.
The storyline is filled with humorous moments and touching scenes that highlight the growth of both characters. The book’s setting in Las Vegas adds an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to the plot, perfectly complementing the whirlwind romance.

It is however a delightful romcom that delivers on all fronts—humor, heart, and romance. It’s a must-read for fans of contemporary romance looking for a light-hearted yet deeply satisfying story.

“On The Map” was my first experience with Christina Hovland’s writing style, and while I didn’t know what to expect at first, I have to say it made for an entertaining read!

When professional football player Sloan Steele and pop star Maya Mitchell accidentally tie the knot after a drunken one night stand in Vegas, the first thing Maya wants to do is get a divorce.

But Sloan leaves her both surprised and shocked when he suggests that they stay married - at least, as long as it’s convenient for them both, and as long as no feelings are involved.

It takes some convincing, but Maya eventually agrees to the idea. Honestly, I thought Sloan and Maya’s relationship was very well-developed. They had some fiery sizzling chemistry, and I loved their banter as well. I would definitely recommend this book to spicy romantic comedy fans!

Christina Hovland always entertains.
The whole cast of characters are engaging and relatable. Maya is a hoot, a serial Vegas bride 🤣, but also cute and sweet.
Football star Sloan, is supposed to be laying low - team orders, but when he meets Maya, she’s his total focus.
All jokes aside these characters are relatable, realistic and adorable.
An accidental Vegas marriage that becomes the answer they both needed, which also leads to love …. I loved it and couldn’t put it down!
It is a fast paced read, full of hilarious goings-on, witty banter and some brilliant oops moments. It’s sweet, steamy, heartfelt and heartwarming with a wonderful HEA. Plus there’s some cameo appearances from the Mile High Rocked series, which is always a nice bonus.
I’m really looking forward to whatever comes next in this new series.

Thank you to the author.

Maya Mitchell is a back-up singer with a penchant for spontaneous Vegas marriages, but she's sworn them off. Until she meets footballer Sloan Steele. In Vegas. And, you guessed it, she wakes up married. Again. But this time, she agrees to stay married to her new husband. It might help his tarnished image, and if the way her social media is blowing up is any indication, this new marriage is just the ticket to launch Maya's solo career.

This one is so fun, and faithful fans may notice a nod to their favorite pop star and footballer celebrity couple. This crafty storyteller is one I can always depend on to deliver a fun, heartwarming, steamy story, and this one definitely does not disappoint. If you’re already a fan, you’ll notice some familiar faces we’ve come to know and love from the previous series (The Mile High Rocked Series). Lighthearted and charming with a surprising depth of heart, you won’t want to miss this humorous, smexy, phenomenal romance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a quick fun read. Two people meet in Vegas, have some drinks, and wake up the next morning in bed together in a hotel room with wedding rings on their fingers. Sounds about right.

This is not the first time Maya Mitchell, a back up singer, has gone to Vegas and gotten married. This is her third time. Will this time be different?

Sloan Stevens is a professional football player who was not looking to get married.

The rock singer and the football player….sound familiar?

The two decide to give their marriage a try. They agree to communicate with each other and not fall in love. His football fame might help her singing career. Being married might help his reliability factor. Can two people with unbelievable chemistry live together without falling in love?

“When you love someone,….Figuring it out is the best part.”

If Christina Hovland writes it, I'm reading or listening to it!! Her characters always speak to me on some level and there's a great mix of humor and romance.

Who doesn't love a drunken oopsie marriage of convenience, Vegas style??
Throw in a gruff cinnamon roll of a football player, I'm hooked!!

Loved the cameos from previous books, loved the evolution of their relationship and the refreshing aspect of the open communication between this couple!

This was a quick read that had me laughing throughout the book!!

This was such a fun, awesome story! I absolutely loved everything about it, super Tayvis coded but not in a bad way and the story stands out on its own. Maya and Sloan are such a power couple, they were both really likable characters from the very beginning.

Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes and this was done so perfectly!! It was non stop cuteness from both of them while also keeping things spicy and funny.

Seriously enjoyed it so so much, i cannot wait to read the next book and basically everything this author writes.

This was such a fun read! I loved the pop star meets football player trope and how it affected the time this couple could spend together. I thought that Maya and Sloan #Slaya were well developed, and I really enjoyed their romance. The accidentally married leads to marriage of convenience storyline was so much fun, and I was rooting for these two to realize their feelings for each other. I liked the author’s portrayal of marriage and what it takes to make even a fake one work.

If you’re looking for a heart-warming story with some spicy scenes and endearing characters that you can’t help but cheer for then this is the book for you. This is the first book in the Mile High Stallions series by Hovland, and I’m excited to see where she takes us next!

This book was a quick read not only as it’s the perfect short size but also is a fun read. I always enjoy books that have a lot of character change and a great marriage of convenience trope. I’ve been reading a bunch of those recently and seem to be in that mood. I love a strong fmc and loved that while he was a pro football player she didn’t let his success detract from hers career goals. This is definitely a read to read if you like football and/or rockstar romances.

This was a really cute and swoon worthy marriage of convenience. I laughed at how Maya got married.... Again.... In Vegas. It's her theme.

What I really liked was Sloan. I love that they communicated first off that they would never MIScommunicate during their marriage and they had no qualms for trying to make it work.

Maya gets headliner fame out of this instead of being in the background. I loved how Sloan helped steer her career in the right direction by posting a video he took off her singing and original song. I liked the salt/pepper conversations and what they meant to these two.

I can't wait to read more of her books, I've become a fan.

Ahh this one was so cute! I love a good fake marriage/marriage of convenience, and I loved that there wasn’t an insta-love between characters - you saw them develop feelings for each other and struggle to merge their lives together. I especially loved that the FMC didn’t have to compromise her career or goals to have the life she wanted.

It was a quick, easy, and enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it for my romance lovers!

I could not get enough of Maya & Sloan, I need more. This book is a fast-paced novel and I ate every bit of it up. And I love when he falls first! Maya and Sloan are both in Vegas but what’s supposed to be a one night stand turns into a marriage that neither of them planned but both of them agreed that it would be beneficial to stay married, especially when this is Maya’s third UNPLANNED Vegas wedding. Honestly there is nothing to dislike about Sloan and can I just say that the one “bodyguard” scene was definitely right up my alley. Something about a man protecting his woman just hits the spot. I am very excited for the rest of this series, Christina found herself another permanent reader.

On The Map, a contemporary romance, was such a fun read! The book features Maya Mitchell and Sloan Stevens.

Maya is a backup singer with a dream of becoming a solo act. Sloan is a football player who often forgets to filter when he speaks. When both find themselves in Vegas sharing a condo (with friends), the attraction is immediate.

Maya is back in Vegas to attend a childhood friend's engagement party, and potentially make a connection with one of the other guests who is well known in the music industry. She has somewhat of a history in Vegas though. After an evening of fun and alcohol, Maya has been known to wake up with a ring on her finger. She is determined that this time will be different.

Sloan, who plays center for the Denver Stallions, was told to get out of town for a few days to let his latest scandal die down. He doesn't do it on purpose, but he keeps putting his foot in his mouth. As it turns out, his agent (Elliott) just so happens to be one of Maya's friends' (Emily) twin brother. Both arranged to borrow their aunt and uncle's condo in Vegas for the same weekend, which is how Maya meets Sloan.

In typical Maya fashion, she wakes up with a ring on her finger... again! She is keen to get the marriage annuled before her friends and family know that she messed up again, but Sloan has other ideas: a marriage of convenience. If they promise to keep their hearts out of it, this just might work.

I had a great time reading this book. It was easygoing and lighthearted. I enjoyed the chemistry and dynamic between the two characters and loved their support for one another. At a glance, the two don't seem like they would be a good fit, but they definitely are.

I believe this was written as a standalone, but the epilogue suggests that the author might have another story up her sleeve. I hope so as I really enjoyed it.

𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐩 is the first book in the Mile High Stallions series by Christina Hovland, featuring a sweet and spicy rom-com that had me laughing pretty quickly. Maya Mitchell is a professional back-up singer who dreams of taking center stage. Unfortunately, her personal life is a series of epic mistakes. With two accidental Vegas weddings under her belt, she finds herself heading back there for her childhood friend’s wedding with a promise of no crazy antics.🫣😅 Then she meets notorious football star Sloan Steel, who’s fresh off another scandal and in dire need of reputation rehab. What could possibly go wrong when you mix Maya, Sloan, and yardstick Margarita?🤣 When they wake up with matching bands and raging headaches a plan is hatched… a marriage of convenience to boost their careers. What happens when one of them wants to make it real?

This was so much fun! Yes, the premise was pretty out there, I mean, 3 accidental Vegas weddings?!👀 This woman needs to stop drinking!!🤣🤣 But, it’s classic Christina Hovland rom-com, and I loved the dynamic between them, the banter, the spicy chemistry, and the underlying emotion that kept putting up a road block for Maya. I also loved the way the world building was set up with Sloan’s teammates and his family who definitely added to the fun of the story, and are going to make this an entertaining series for sure! I loved seeing some old favorite characters, like Brek and Bax!😍 Sloan had me swooning throughout, and even though Maya drug her feet a little more than I would have liked, they both had their own pivotal scenes that were *chef’s kiss*!! I’ll think of them every time I use salt and pepper now!🥰 Don’t miss this book!! I can’t wait for the next one!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Maya Mitchell is a professional backup singer who has made a habit of accidentally getting married in Las Vegas, so she's been avoiding the city. But now she's back for a friend's wedding vowing to avoid the altar herself. Sloan Steele plays football for the Stallions and is Denver's most eligible bachelor, but he's asked to take some time out after one too many scandals and finds himself in Vegas. After a night out on the town, the pair finds themselves as the city's newest married couple. After they get over the shock, they realize that a marriage is good for Sloan's reputation and it could jump-start a solo career for Maya so they decide to stay married. They have three rules ~ no misunderstandings, no expectations, and no falling in love. As their relationship builds and deepens, they both have to reevaluate what they want. Do they have what it takes to make things last?

Christina Hovland is a fantastic writer and one of my favorite romance authors. This book's very well-written and has wonderful and well-rounded characters. I loved Maya and Sloan as main characters from the start. They're both people who have lived life and are comfortable with who they are, both good and bad. Here, they were able to take something that could have been a huge mistake and turn it into something positive. I was drawn into this captivating story and kept hooked from beginning to end. As usual, Christina provides a story with romance, both sweet and steamy, that's also humorous and full of emotion. There are some cameo appearances from previous characters. I truly enjoyed this book which is the first in a new series and I'm looking forward to the next book. I definitely highly recommend this one. I did receive an ARC of this book and this is my honest, unbiased review.

Maya Mitchell is a professional backup singer who would like to be a star someday but her real issue is she keeps getting accidentally married when she goes to Las Vegas. She's headed there again for her best friend's celebration and vows not to let it happen again.

Sloan Stevens is Denver's most eligible bachelor who loves his single life. After another scandal his management has asked him to take a break on all the drama. He plays for the Denver Stallions and has lost some endorsements due to the drama.

There was some confusion at the condo the girls were staying at with one of their brothers showing up with friends staying there too. Sloan and Maya go out to eat and see the sights and have a margarita and the next thing it's morning and they are married to each other. They decide to have a fake marriage to help each other out and set some ground rules, one not falling in love with each other.

They have chemistry, want to be together all the time and even spend time at his place in the mountains. She doesn't like the outdoors--there's bugs, bears and other creatures.
She sees movement outside screams and swears there was a bear or two. Sloan asks, "Was the bear in the kitchen?" "I don't know what I'm supposed to do right now to protect you from the trash cans." She's not amused.

Their marriage is helping to launch her solo career and repair his reputation. But in order for this to happen they have to stick to the rules and their game plan.
"God, I'm in love with you...." Sloan tells Maya, but that's against their rules. Will this be the end?

Maya is back in Vegas with her besties Angela and Emily, for a childhood friends engagement party. She has sworn off returning after the last two times she's gone she has gotten married while drunk. She is determined to enjoy her time in Vegas and NOT get married, but nothing goes as planned.

Sloan needs to get away after an endorsement deal gone wrong and needs to stay out of the spotlight. He ends up going to Vegas with Elliott, who happens to be Emily's sister. There is a mix up and they end up staying at the same condo as Maya and the girls. They all go out and enjoy a night out together. Maya and Sloan wake up together the next morning and as their memories begin to come back, they both realize they are married 🥴

They decide to stay together to help each other out and slowly they realize that nothing about their relationship is as fake as they thought. Both Sloan and Maya are likable characters and there were a lot of funny moments throughout. This was a cute fun quick read.

ON THE MAP By Christina Hovland

Professional backup singer Maya Mitchell keeps accidentally getting hitched in Sin City. Now, she’s back for her childhood best friend’s celebration and she’s vowed to dodge any new matrimonial chaos. There will be no more surprise ‘I dos,’ even if the margaritas flow and the chapels never close.
Denver's heartthrob and most eligible bachelor, Sloan Steele, loves his single life. He loves it as much as he loves the football field. But, after one scandal too many, his management is tired of playing defense and asks him to take a time-out on the drama.
One chance encounter plus one drunken night equals Maya and Sloan as the city's latest married couple—a blitz neither saw coming. Once the shock settles, they see the opportunity: a marriage is good for Sloan's reputation. Meanwhile, Maya can use the spotlight to launch her solo career. On the Map is the first book in Christina Hovland's new Mile High Stallions series, and it's the story of Maya Mitchell, a backup singer with dreams of going solo and a bad habit of getting hitched in Vegas, and Sloan Steele, star center for the Denver Stallions and in need of a PR makeover, who drunkenly become husband and wife. Now, it's Vegas, so while getting married is easy peasy, so is getting divorced, but maybe this whole wedded bliss thing could work to their advantage. If they can sell being a happy couple who's madly in love, then it'll be the glow-up Sloan's reputation demands and the launching pad for Maya's solo singing career. All they need is to follow three simple rules: no misunderstandings, no expectations, and no falling in love. Easy enough, right? That is, until very real feelings demand a whole new game plan for their fake marriage.

This was a really good start to this new series. I loved the chemistry between Maya and Sloan. They had great banter and while they were virtual strangers when they first exchanged vows, it was clear that they belonged together the more they bonded as a couple. This is a romantic comedy, so expect wit and humor to be nicely paired up with all the swoony romance. There are some notable supporting characters that I suspect will be part of the other books to come in the series, but for all intents and purposes, the spotlight truly was focused on Maya and Sloan. On the Map was a book that helped perk up what's been a trying week, and it did my heart good while also giving me a reason to laugh and smile. I'm giving this series starter a much deserved 4.5 stars.

Author Christina Hovland’s latest romantic comedy, On The Map, is super fun, light on angst, and totally funny! The main character, Maya, had me laughing out load while reading. The story is told in dual POV in a crisp, direct timeline. An added bonus are some cameo appearances by characters from Ms. Hovland’s prior series.

Maya, a back-up singer who wants to be a main-attraction singer, and Sloan, a talented NFL who needs to keep his mouth shut when it comes to his sponsors, have a hilarious first meeting in Las Vegas. This time, the saying, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” does not apply. A drunken marriage at a kitschy chapel presents the two with career-enhancing opportunities, so they decide to have something of a “married” friends-with-benefits relationship. As Maya’s career takes off and Sloan’s gets back on track, their punishing schedules keep them apart. This is everything they wanted and discussed, right? Or will “absence make the heart grow fonder” create a problem as one or both actually develop feelings beyond lust and friendship?

The characters are engaging and the crisp writing is great. Ms. Hovland’s spicy scenes had me fanning myself and her humor-infused dialogue had me laughing. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a romantic comedy. I’m looking forward to the continuation of this series, as I’m sure the new secondary characters will become the stars of their own books.

Finding love with salt and pepper

I loved Maya and Sloan’s marriage of convenience, he falls first romance of all the things. The story had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, angst, and spice. Maya is a back up singer with two failed marriages, which were the result of drunken Vegas weddings. She’s determined to have no more Vegas weddings and become a headliner. She’s in Vegas after a hiatus for a best friend pre-wedding party. Sloan is a professional football player who has some issues keeping endorsement deals. He comes to Vegas with his agent, one of Sloan’s other friends, to lay low. Unfortunately, too much tequila leads to another accidental marriage but Maya and Sloan decide to treat it as a marriage of convenience rather than a mistake. Deciding it will help both their careers and since they agree to ground rules including not falling in love, it will definitely work out. Their relationship grows organically as they spend time together and the convenient starts to feel real because feelings rarely stay in the boxes we assign them to. Now they just need to figure out if they can make it work with traveling careers, potentially diverging paths, and unexpected feelings. The story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline as shown in sweet moments, spicy scenes, laughs, supportive friends, painful pasts, baggage unpacking, growth, healing, and heart squeezing love. I loved the salt and pepper negotiations.
