Loved the story. It has everything that makes for a great storyline and an author who has excellent writing skills. Oil and water, Jessie and Sebastian that’s how well they mixed in the beginning but all that changed by the next morning. The story caught my attention at the very beginning and held it until the end. Danger played a big part in this story but Sebastian was always able to come out on top in the end. Britt’s was a great addition, I just wish she would have been featured a little more because a young child can bring an extra special touch to any story. It’s a wonderful story that is definitely worth reading and I would highly recommend it.

He had to get to bottom of why they were interested in his ranch and why Hank is pushing the matter so much. Canyon Industries had been under scrutiny and considered suspects for years by the FBI in a string of murders involving oil rights and sales of various properties. But to date there hadn't been enough to charge them on.

Cold-Hearted King is an outstanding dark romance by Piper Stone. This is Sebastian and Jesse's story. Sebastian Cawthorne was almost 40-years old living in Miami and considered a playboy and a brutal bastard. Sebastian would dig and find anything dark people kept hidden and didn't want found and was good at it. This is how Cawthorne Industries (land development) was at the top of their game.
An attorney by the name of Hank Barclay called Sebastian giving him bad news that his grandfather Walter had passed away. It had been twenty-years since Sebastian had been to the ranch in Colorado. Sebastian had spent almost a year with his grandfather, who was more like a father to him. Jackson his younger brother was sent to boarding school, instead of getting to go meet his grandfather. Sebastian's father and grandfather didn't get along, he didn't know the reason. Sebastian wanted to stay with his grandfather, but was forced to go back home.
Colorado was the home to Jessie (Sarah) Logan and her five-year old daughter Britta. Walter thought of them as family and let them live in a small house on the ranch. He let them live there rent free, because Walter knew Jessie worked hard trying to make a living for her and her daughter. When Sebastian and Jessie meet, they rub each other the wrong way. Jessie calls him City Slicker and Sebastian calls her Big Red. Jessie is a feisty, out spoken young woman, who doesn't trust men and knows how to use a baseball bat when needed. There is mysterious happenings going on with the ranch and grandfather Walter.
Britta is a wonderful little character that I enjoyed in the story.
There is suspense, danger, violence, secrets, excitement, desire and steamy scenes.

Britta is a wonderful little character that I enjoyed in the story.
There is suspense, danger, violence, secrets, excitement, desire and steamy scenes.

There is also a lovely amount of soul searing heat, hence my request for ICE! The entire magnificent story is smoothly, searingly, stunningly, brought to life through absolutely brilliant, emotive, and flawlessly timed narration! This vocal performance made MY reality disappear while I listened, completely captivated by the world, characters, and dramatic scenes that were “Cold-Hearted King”, and I LOVED it ALL! A wonderful read, terrific characters and a simply fantastic hot and sexy story
Sebastian Cawthorne is a heavy-duty business man that has been brought up in a business world that is run by a father that is brutal, his mother had run not being able to stand his father brutality and then he had started on him and then his younger brother.
Escaping for one year when he was a teenager he had spent that time with his Grandfather on his horse ranch in Montana, “Gods Country” as he had called it and it had such a lasting effect on him until the day he had to return to his fathers home and further beatings. Under his father’s hand.
Then he had been notified that his grandfather had died and had left his ranch to him, he had travelled out convinced that Hank the executor had been trying to sell Walter’s pride and joy to a development company. His brother Jackson had been the only person he could speak with and even though he was three years younger had been the only one that had understood him.
Jessie had been like a breath of fresh air and it was obvious to him that he had feelings that he knew were serious and her daughter Brita was simply wonderful and it seems that she is being terrorised by her ex but she is so brave and strong and he was determined to keep her safe no matter what, nothing and no one would get near either of them,
He was determined he was going to find out about her abusive ex James Jansen and not only was he a drug user he was also abusive and it was simply obvious that there was something dirty going on and they were trying to get their hand on his grandfather’s land and it seems that there was something underhanded going on.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

What An Absolute Controlling Cunt
Wow, I read this book hoping she would actually eventually grow up and get to exercise some control over him.
But she never does.
However, Sebastien constantly gets to choose how he gets to act, and by gaez, isn't that uncommunicative FUCK just lucky he reminds her of a man who doesn't strike her.
He tells us constantly of the "power she has" over him and yet he still acts as he wants and expects her to follow. Thats not power, that pathetic performative power.
Wow.
So, shes an abuse victim.
But he never has a proper consent talk with her before he starts, in HER words, brutalising her.
What is it?
Does she liked being stripped of her power, or doesn't she?
Did she let James fuck her up in the same way?
And gawd, she has a kid.
Watching sebastien overrule her over and over again.
Ugh, clearly a retelling of that abusive Shrew story.

There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Sebastian sexy as all get out Cawthrone living in Miami a playboy reputation, but he is dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly every day, he finds the dark on others keeping their Cawthrone Industries at their top of their game. When he learns that his grandfather passed away it has been twenty years since he went home but memories of his younger brother being sent off to boarding school, his grandfather was like a father considering his father/grandfather didn’t get along neither of the boys knew why they disliked one another. Great Story

I really enjoyed the story and for the most part loved the characters although I did feel the MFC was overly argumentative but not so much so that I wanted to throw my kindle or anything. I loved Sabastian's character, he was the perfect mix of alpha male, dominant billionaire with a touch of violence sprinkled in while still having a loving, caring side.
Story was very well plotted and had just the right amount of sex. So why isn't it 5 stars? Simple, the book needs a content editor more so than normal. This author often publishes a book with a lot of missing words, use of wrong words and other simple to find and fix errors that even spell check will pick up if used. But this book was loaded with inconsistencies so egregious within a matter of pages from each other that I couldn't just let it go. It's bad when an author cannot remember her characters eye and hair colors or that they already removed a certain article of clothing ect. This book is loaded with those. First the MMC has hair the color of chocolate milk, then 30 pages later he's a ginger. The MFC describes the type of man she's normally attracted to, including eye color (eyes the color of whiskey which could only mean they are a shade of brown because even eyes described as amber considered a light brown), then later on the character states she never dated a guy with brown eyes before. It's very frustrating for the reader to have these types of mistakes show up. It messes with the story flow and the vision of the character.

Wow this book if full of action packed, suspenseful, mystery, betrayal and so much more I couldn’t get enough! I was guessing a lot of you could be behind all the craziness and boy does this read have lots of surprises going on! The main characters will keep you needing cold water cause things get hot alongside intense tension. The lead lady character is not to be taken lightly she is very independent and will show you what happens if you try to mess with her. It’s very inspiring and entertaining not all ladies feel the need for a man to protect them. The attraction is very strong willed and impossible to resist no matter how hard one might try lol. Will these two opposites come to some understanding as the world seems to increasingly bring danger, conflict, confusion into their lives? Trust me you don’t want to miss this obstacle fun steamy feisty criminal read! So much unsolved mystery twist difficult pasts hard choices to make. What could the out come be between all this and a man grow into become just like his not caring all hardcore all about business father and a feisty strong just trying to get through life women? Your only know if you pick up this epic challenge dark romance book! I hope Piper stone will write a story for the main guy character brother one day! This book is for sure a keeper in my eyes and will have you laughing with butterflies in your stomach in no time:)

I have always look forward to Ms. Stone's books and i never been disappointed, Sébastien 's Big Red Women was a hard shelled women but how else could she be,she had it hard in foster care,she met a man who she thought was the one but he was so abusive with his fists and his words.It look like her lawyer was even taking her for a ride,at last it look like Hank was. When Sébastien came along she was at he wits end,she was told she would have to move,she work at dangerous jobs and her ex husband was after her to take their daughter away from her.She doesn't trust her city slicker man at first but he wears her down and he even go out of his way to fix her ex,makes sure that they have food and Medicine for Britta! Sebastien still senses that something isn't right with farm since Hank wants to sell it,so he brings his brother out for another set of eyes but it almost takes losing Big Red in a set fire before they find out what's going on.The sad part is the boys leave to go back to their life but really it's so Sébastien can settle his business and come back to Jessica! This was great story,glad they both open their hearts to each other and took another chance!Wish Jackson and Megan could have a story too!

Piper Stone doesn’t disappoint! This is the story of Jess and Sebastian. Sebastian is considered one of the best in the real estate field. From a young age, he has been molded by his ruthless father. Sebastian's grandfather has died leaving a temporary executor in place. Feeling guilty that he didn't pick up the phone when his grandfather last rang him nor return the call, he is suspicious of the temporary executor and his speed at having everything in place to sell the ranch. With trouble round every corner, their doubts fade but Sebastian has unfinished business which could be life threatening. This book had me hooked. Hot and steamy and full of action, intrigue and suspense, it has everything you can expect from Piper's books and more. I couldn't put it down. With a feisty woman determined to protect her child, a child who is afraid of no-one and a man determined to ensure that justice is done, this book is captivating and worth far more than five stars.

A dark billionaire romance with a twist,
You will love this book with the Dark Hero, who slips and falls first...oops!
My first time reading a Piper Stone book and to say I am impressed is understated. This book delivers every thing you would want and more. Enough steam off the pages to keep you up all night till the last page.
Sebastian and Jessica should never have met in his world, being a Mafia king pin, he was willed his grandfathers ranch in Colorado. Jessica is a feisty girl he meets when he lands in town to attend his grandfathers funeral.
Seeing a Mafia King taken to his knees by a red head with enough sass and spirit to chase a lesser man away, has Sebastian wanting her more. Read how they both have to let go of their pasts and move on and learn to trust again.
Loved the angst, the mystery, drama and passion throughout the story. A definite different take on a bad boy Mafia King I did not see coming, but enjoyed immensely. This is one you do not want to miss, well worthy of 5 stars.

A lot of growling and howling!
Nope, this isn't a paranormal but I kept waiting for it to turn out to be with the sex scene descriptions. Sebastian played very, very dirty with his high finance games, so it was fun to see him come down off his high horse (no pun intended). And Jessie was a real "mamabear" about her daughter Britta (I loved them both). That said, this story kept me glued for the almost 400 suspenseful pages! There were some "f-bombs", some sudden scene changes, a few unbelievable scenes- (ie: their first spanking scene in the bar), some questions, and some grammar mistakes- but nothing too bad. As unscrupulous as Sebastian was I'm glad he didn't turn out to be with the mafia. The sex scenes were very kinky and hot! Good ending but wish there was more. Happily exhausted. 3.5 stars.

Oh my goodness, I loved the book
It is so amazing how opposites attract and their personalities clash. Both people have been hurt, Jessie was in an abusive relationship and had a five year old daughter. Her ex was always ruining her life. She ran to Colorado where an old rancher gave her and her daughter a place to live and a job. She was working three jobs and could barely make ends meet. Sebastian was a commercial realtor at the corporations his father started. His father was abusive and their mother left. When his grandfather was murdered, the grandfather left the ranch to Sebastian. On his first day back in Montrose, he was witnessing a robbery but the feisty woman was handling her own. From the moment Sebastian and Jessie clashed. Cold-Hearted King is worth the read. Beautiful love story and I highly recommend reading. I love Piper Stone books.

WOW! What A Man!
He was a bad man, he’d been brought up to deal with any enemies with brutality but when he was left something from his Grandfather and met Jessie. From the moment he met her, he’d decided she was his!
A hot read with some romantic moments, lots of steamy intense passion with some spanking, the heat just rolls of the pages. I loved the placement of this storyline which was a little different but no less enjoyable and how he became the hero she so desperately needed.
The storyline will keep you glued to the pages, I seriously could not put it down and was on edge to see what would happen next and how everything would come together to give them both the HEA they deserved.

The time Sebastian spent on his grandfather's ranch had not been easy, but it was the best memory of his youth. Now his grandfather was dead, having left the ranch to Sebastian as well as several mysteries, like why the lawyer is trying to push him into selling the ranch, how his grandfather really died, and who the young woman is to whom his grandfather left money.
I enjoyed this romance. The couple has great chemistry, marred by their past traumatic relationships which leads to heat in a good way, and sometimes a not so good way. Mysteries lead to more mysteries and plot twists, leaving one guessing to the end. And there is a sweet HEA at the end.

OMG! I loved this story. It was filled with so much emotional turmoil, drama and angst that it had my heart in a chokehold the whole way through.
Jessie and Sebastian are so wrong but so right for each other, making it hard not to fall hopelessly in love with the two of them. Sebastian is a walking red flag, but there is just something about him that pulls Jessie into his darkness.
The banter was incredible between the two of them, but the spicy was just utterly delicious and so damn steamy I was sure my kindle was going to set itself on fire.

Sometimes it's easier to describe a story in simple terms than to get into the complexities of the story. In this book's case, the complexities of the dynamic between Sebastian and Jessie (Big Red) is the magic that weaves the fabric of this beautiful story. Each of these people have a background they are struggling to overcome so that they can hope to have a happy existence in the rat race of the world they traverse. Once they realize that the sexual chemistry, they have with each other could lead them to so much more, their two lives seem to finally be on the right track. Loved this story!.

Sebastian, a cold, ruthless billionaire from Miami, has inherited his grandfather's ranch in Colorado. He spent some time there with his grandfather and remembers that time fondly, but his father has raised him to be heartless in his business dealings. He heads out to determine whether he will keep it or sell. Jessie and her young daughter have been living rent free on the property and Sebastian is determined to evict her. But he accidentally meets her prior to officially and sparks fly. Good characters, especially little Britta, and interesting plot with a few twists. Very enjoyable read.

This book grabbed me from the start. Jessie and Sebastian were definitely oil and water from the start. But that quickly morphed into unbridled attraction and steamy intense hot scenes. I loved the storyline and the pace of it. Megan and Jackson should get their own book. And I would have loved to know Britt a bit more.
Bit the book as a whole was fantastic and so well done. It's another winner by Piper Stone.

A great story, Jessie and Sebastian are like chalk and cheese but are irresistibly drawn to each other and boy are they hot together. The mystery in this story may have been easy to solve but it was interesting and held the story together. Britta was a ray of sunshine and softened Sebastian. Jackson and Megan’s budding relationship was interesting and I wonder if they will get their own book. The ending was perfect and George was great. A lovely read.

Loved this fast paced story of Jessie and Sebastian. Totally out of his element, but he took control and what he wanted. It took a bit of convincing with all that was going on, but he proved that he could handle any situation, even riding a horse! A city slicker looking to fit in and ride into the sunset with his Big Red. Great intensity and really big and plentiful hot scenes.

Loved this story! Sebastian is billionaire that has had trauma from his past that has made him cold hearted. Single mother and fiesty as hell Jess comes from an abusive relationship and is determined to never have a man in her life again. This story has suspense, light BDSM, mystery, steamy scenes, passion and much more. These two are perfect for each other - opposites attract- the plot is great and I love how the twists and turns of the story are. Great read and highly recommend!

Cold Hearted King is everything we've come to expect from this author. Sebastian is absolutely yummy and then there's Jessica. She's positively FIERCE and wastes no time putting Sebastian in his place. The chemistry between these characters is explosive and the storyline completely engulfs you. Another fantastic read from this author!

I absolutely love this story. Sebastian and Jessie are phenomenal together. They are really great for each other. I think the names they had for each other is cute. There are a few things in here that surprised me that almost had me not finishing this story, I kept reading. The flow of this story is done well. I do recommend this book.
