Scotland's magical community thought they were finally free from the curse that bound them for centuries--they thought wrong. It's up to the crown prince of the elves and a witch to try and break the curse... if they don't break each other first.
‘The Elf Lord's Trial’ is the fourth book in the Office of Highland Magic series, featuring a department of academics keeping track of Scotland’s magical peoples and relics.
Hùisdean Aexisys is many a prince, an eternal student of magic, and a decent leader. He is not, however, good at asking for help. But when Scotland's infamous curse comes back and threatens not only his magic, but the livelihood of his people, he's going to do the one thing he hates above all else... ask for help.
Ayda Bhaduri loves magic more than people. After following in her mother's footsteps to become one of the most talented earth witches in Scotland, she's still trying to break out from the weight of her family's expectations. The last thing she wants to do is partner with an arrogant prince, but she can't resist a magical puzzle.
When Hùisdean arrives to ask Ayda for her help, it takes a little bit of convincing before she agrees. As the powerful duo tries to break the curse, they learn Ayda herself may be the secret to cracking the case. If her new mysterious powers aren't enough to deal with, the last thing she's prepared to tackle is her changing relationship with Hùisdean. Hùisdean and Ayda become trapped in a race against time. Will they break the curse... or each other?
Please note ‘The Elf Lord's Trial’ is an adult paranormal romance with sex scenes, graphic violence, and swearing.
Molly Tullis would have picked the Phantom of the Opera over Raoul and named her French bulldog Jean Valjean. She only believes in black clothing, red lipstick, and never turns down an iced coffee or tequila. She enjoys writing fantasy, romance, or any genre with an opportunity to insert a dark-haired, morally grey man. Her debut novel, The Romanov Oracle, was inspired by a love of history and a simultaneous desire to rewrite it with more magic.
When not identifying as an author, she identifies as a woman with bangs, finger tattoos, and a nose ring, who can tell you what planets are making you sad.

If you have a fondness for all things Scotland and magic, look no further than this enchanting book. Stepping into its world is like embarking on a captivating journey through Scottish mythology and folklore, offering readers a rich tapestry to explore.
The characters, particularly Ayda and the lovable Huisdean, are truly the heart of the story. While this book can be enjoyed as a standalone, diving into the Office of Highland Magic series beforehand enhances the reading experience by providing deeper context and character references.
What sets this story apart is its seamless integration of characters from previous books into this new narrative. Rather than overshadowing the main plot, they enrich the story, adding layers of depth to the found family dynamic.
Ayda rises as an unexpected heroine when she teams up with the charming elf prince Huisdean to rescue his people. Their relationship is a joy to witness, built on mutual respect and a mutual passion for magic and learning. Whether they're immersed in quiet camaraderie in the library or embroiled in thrilling spellcasting or duels, their bond is tangible, infusing the story with an exciting energy. The blend of Scottish and elvish lore is masterfully executed, creating a world that feels both familiar and fantastical. With smart and strong protagonists at its core, this book offers a perfect combination of intrigue, adventure, and romance.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend diving into this captivating series. With each installment, the author delivers a spellbinding tale that leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next book. I, for one, cannot wait to see what enchanting adventures lie ahead.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you love all things Scotland and magic, this is the book for you. A continuation / spin-off of the Office of Highland Magic series, this could be read as a standalone but you'd miss some of the character references, so I recommend reading it after the other 3 books for the full effect.
Ayda is a dynamic and brilliant witch with a cool mix of Indian and Scottish heritage to draw different kinds of magic theory from. While we thought the curse on the magic of Scotland had been broken, it turns out a different curse now plagues the Shetland Islands and the elves that live there. Ayda becomes our begrudging hero as she helps the devilishly handsome elf prince Huisdean save his people.
I love the dynamic between these two because it's based not only in respect, but in a love of knowledge and learning about magic. they're the kind of folks who are happy to spend companionable silence together all afternoon in a library, and then go off and complete some truly remarkable spellwork. Or get in a sword fight. Could go either way really. The mix of Scottish and elvish lore, along with smart and strong protagonists and their spicy connection was a perfect combination. Check out this whole series!
**I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review **
First, I’ve loved this series since it started and getting another chapter in these character’s lives, is perfection. Ayda and Huisdean are adorable. They are out of enemies to lovers but not exactly enemies, but they were definitely not friends. LOL Two of the strongest magic users in Scotland and the Shetland Islands have to work together to fix the magically issue in the Shetland islands. If you love found families, magic, crazy nature loving Aunties and scary mostly dead creatures that steal magic and immortality then you’ll love this book! 10/10 on the book and 10/10 on the spicy scenes. The spice doesn’t take away from the plot either. This book is a perfect balance! Another home run from Ferrell Dawson!
Since Scotland's Magic has been restored, the magic of the Shetland Islands has started to fade. Hùisdean, the crown prince of the elves has ask for help, even if he hates doing so. His best chance of lifting the curse? Earth witch Ayda, which doesn't get along with Hùisdean at all. But that's nothing a bit of forced and a healthy dose of attraction can't fix....or is it?
Like all the other books in this series, this one is the perfect mix of action, feelings and 🌶️. Combined with found family, a hilarious eccentric wizard of an aunt and a magical riddle to solve, this book had me engaged from page one and I can't wait where the journey goes next 🥰
I received and ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. Although, I had also pre-ordered this book because this series is so great. This is another great story in this found family!!!! The characters from the previous books are brought into this new story seamlessly without steaming rolling the new story. I loo forward to the next book!!!!
Shetland Island's magic is at risk of fading despite Scotland's curse being broken. Elven Crown Prince Hùisdean reluctantly asks for help from the witch Ayda to find out the cause and restore the balance. This was a fantastic read with a unique twist to the supernatural.

This is a fun continuation of the world and I loved the tension in this book. Our FMC is a bada** in her own right, which is common in this series but welcome nonetheless. The family dynamics among the Elves had me giggling — do recommend
I absolutely love this series. The world is wonderful to step into and learn so much about Scottish mythology and folklore. The characters Ayda is a strong and wonderful character and Huisdean is so lovable.
Encore un livre lu trop vite tellement il était bon !J’ai adoré la dynamique entre les deux personnages principaux et les clins d’œil au Seigneur des anneaux. Ils sont tous les deux très puissants mais avec les mêmes insécurités que vous et moi.
Maybe I preferred the previous ones, but this one was perfect too! I liked this couple a lot, but I would have loved to see more of them, I don't know, I think something is missing in this book. Anyway, I can't wait to see what will happen next! I'm obsessed with this world.
I am glad to this series continue on and loving all Arya and Huisdean chemistry. The enemies to lovers is always one of my favorite tropes. Can’t wait until the next one
Ayda and Dean's story is one filled to the brim with tension. True enemies to lovers with delightful miscommunication made for an incredibly addictive read. I love my romance laced with ancient magic and stories of self discovery.
This read incorporates mythology and cozy scottish settings, whisking you away from reality with a well written plot. I fell for these characters hard. We get some of the popular fantasy tropes (*couch* one bed *cough), and also get one of my FAVOURITE (and rarer) witchy moments. You'll have to read it and see how cleverly Asvi's story adds to the magic 😉🖤
This is what weekend-book dreams are made for. A med angst- med burn, with all the tension and pure enjoyment!
