Murphy grew up in southern California, riding and showing the horses her father trained. After attending the San Francisco Art institute she worked as an interior designer, and later exhibited paintings and welded metal sculpture in the West Coast juried shows. "When my husband Pat and I moved to Panama for a four-year tour in his position with the U. S . Courts, I put away the paints and welding torches, and began to write," she says. Later they lived in Oregon, then Georgia, before moving to California, where she now enjoys the sea and views of the Carmel hills.

Another awesome book. Love the world building in this story. I actually named my shepherd Sceolan when I was a kid. Great story line and great read.

Absolutely loved this book as a kid. When reading it, I would zone out and fully imagine the story. Very detailed world to explore.

This book is the best one I have yet to read. There is nothing better than this book. This book is for all readers, unless they only like nonfiction, of course! Hahaha! Anyway, this book is a must-read that really should be read. I read it many times a year and it is still awesome each time I read it. You gotta read it.
