Two shattered souls...backed into a corner and ready to fight for their lives, for each other, for their impossible love...

Kassenia Bennett isn't your normal 25-year-old spoiled rich girl from Fairfield, Connecticut. Her life was ruined forever when her father killed her entire family in a tragic murder-suicide. Willing to do whatever it takes, she's determined to make a life for herself. Start her own business. Change the world.

Declan knows the feel of pain, he knows the taste of blood, and he knows what it's like to be alone. The muscled, tattooed outlaw biker only cares about one thing in this world, his club Dante's Nine—they're the only family he's ever known...and he's willing to pay the ultimate price to save his brothers from ruin.

Desperate to get the cash his club needs, Declan agrees to fight in a series of underground death matches—where the stakes are high, and only one man leaves the ring alive. With three fights down and one more to go, the Dante's Nine MC is almost back on its feet.

When Kassenia answers an unlikely Craigslist ad for a dream summer internship in Las Vegas, she has no idea she's about to fall into the web of the dangerous and mysterious badass biker Declan Tiberi. He'll move her out to Vegas, give her the funding, resources, and business connections to start her company...the only catch: she has to sign a contract promising that she won't fall in love with Declan—if she does she'll lose everything.

Kassenia knows he's off-limits, untouchable, that he's the worst man she could possibly want. Declan knows she's the sexiest woman he's ever laid eyes on, and he'll have her...even if it's the last thing he does.

Their relationship is built on lies and deceit from the very beginning. Declan knows she's falling for him, but he can't tell her the ultimate truth: that he has to throw the final fight at the end of the summer—or his club gets nothing.

Hey there,

I'm Colleen Masters, author of the Faster Series. Thank you so much for swinging by and checking out my stories! As an indie romance author, your support means everything to me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...

I grew up in Central Jersey, and studied Theatre Arts and English at Monmouth University. (Going to college right next to the beach? Hell yes :D) My dream has always been to make a profession out of writing, so I moved to NYC five years ago and have been working my butt off to make that dream come true ever since. Right now, I'm living on the Upper East Side with my darling fiancé and our corgi, Frodo. (Bit of a lit nerd, what can I say?) All of my friends get such a kick out of my "survival job," but I don't really see my writing as a day job at all--it's way too fun for that!

These books are truly a labor of love, and I'm so happy to share them with you. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!

Nope.

Overall this one was just a big disappointment. It started off well. Intruiguing & interesting characters. But by the 12th chapter I was just hoping that you got back to or deeper into, Declan's mind. The only time you see things from his POV is the prologue. The rest of the novel is in Kassie's POV. And I have to be honest, by the 6th or 7th chapter, her voice just served in irritating me. I felt like at this point you got to know her well enough. You understood her place, so you needed to get back to Declan. Just so that this book held a sense of balance when it came to who was speaking & revealing things about themselves & what they felt in certain situations. And on this front this book was just all over the place. First you get the prologue. And this kind of starts out in Declan's POV but then it's also told in 3rd person. Then for the rest of the novel all you get is Kassie's POV. Then the Epilogue you get in 3rd person again. So it doesn't really flow. There is no real balance here for the whole of the novel. And how the plot was executed left me wanting as well.

I needed more of Declan's thoughts, what he was doing when he wasn't around her or even when he was with her. Just a deeper insight into him and the point of him making the choices that he does. You don't get any of that through out this novel. All of his reasons were revealed at the very end so this served in making everything feel like a rushed & simple closing. Didn't like that at all.

And I was hoping that since this is marketed as an MC Novel, that we actually GOT an MC novel. But you don't get that either.

Declan has his hands in so many pots, has so many faces, that it just came off as completely unbelievable. He had an abusive father & by extension, mother. He grew up hard & basically had to take care of himself since 16. He's been to jail or was on his way to jail by getting caught doing something illegal. He served in the military as a Naval Seal. Got into semi-pro boxing & also underground illegal circuit of fighting and dabbled in a bit of Modeling it seems & he's great with money. Great with investments etc.. rubs elbows with not only the gritty parts of society but also the Elite. The extremely rich. And has no problems whatsoever wearing all these hats when he has to. And he's remarkable at keeping these many lives he has separate from one another. Oh! and he's in an MC Club. See what I mean? Way too much going on here. Way too much going on, without the author giving us just a little bit more into his own mind, I think.

He was this well rounded/accomplished business savvy man in many ways yet he's still completely jacked up & his club is still in the financial ruin that it is in. And he couldn't get them out without having to do what he was going to have to do? The type of man we are told Declan is & what he's experienced through life, didn't seem like he would allow himself to be put under another person's thumb like that. Just didn't mesh. On top of that, you're in this dark world, you have seen first hand because of all your "experience", from a child on up; the dark side of this. Yet you completely underestimate your foe? You think it's just gonna blow over Declan? Really? You didn't think that by backing out of something so major, that that wouldn't have MAJOR consequences? Yeah..

So this one just was not executed well at all on many fronts.

The club was just filler, really. So you don't get an MC vibe with this novel at all. You're just told he's in a biker club, you see them a few times, but that's it. But then again, this could also be cos he was just the Treasurer for the club. He wasn't the President, VP, or even the Sergent at Arms. So maybe this is why in many aspects, the Club was just an added element to this story. Which is fine, but if that's the case then again, it should have not been marketed as an MC Novel. Cos by all accounts, it's NOT an MC Novel.

Basically everything that was meant to be deep, dark, & poignant about this book, was just left on the surface. So this one missed the mark for me.

I would not recommend this read.

I'm not really sure how to begin this review and mostly that's because I'm not really sure what the hell I read. Is it a biker book, a fighter book, or a billionaire romance book? Who knows? The author sure as hell didn't. She tried to make her book all of these things and failed to successfully execute any of them. The book felt all over the place and disjointed. Like it didn't know what it wanted to be. The narration in the beginning was odd and the POV awkward.

Kassie I just couldn't stand her from the first 5% of the book. She goes on a date with a guy. Uses him to get herself off, doesn't even have the courtesy to offer a hand job and then gets annoyed when the guy wants sex. I mean I'm as liberated as the next girl and pleasure is pleasure however you get it but dang girl that is just cold. If a man did that to a woman he'd be called an asshole or a selfish prick. So Kassie was an asshole and a selfish prick. then she tries to make the guy look like the bad guy and smacks him. He didn't do anything wrong.

She improves herself somewhat later on but not really to my satisfaction. I mean one minute she's strutting around making a show about how she can take hard liquor shots in a cheesy scene at his club that made me gag and the next minute she's looking at him all doe-y eyed and innocent like some love sick middle schooler. She was as all over the place as the genre of this book. Not to mention she giggles. God, I hate it when grown women giggle in books. It twists my gut something awful. No one out of high school giggles unless they have the emotional intelligence of a cactus. She also squeals to her friend as if she were some high school girl with her first boyfriend. This is the woman we are supposed to believe is a business genius, honors graduate from Berkeley? Um no. Not with the squealing and the giggling and the stupid immature comments and questions.

Don't even get me started on how I feel about female heroines who are sleeping with their man for a couple of days and insinuate themselves so much that they feel they are entitled to know all their secrets and life story right then and there and then pout about it like some sad French temptress. "What is he hiding? What don't I know? Why won't he tell me?" Nag, nag, whine, whine. He doesn't tell you cause it's none of your business you nosey, clingy, bitch.

I won't go into Declan because he was the least bad-ass most touchy feely talking supposed biker/fighter/businessman ever. At one point I thought he was going to grow a vagina. Not to mention, he had more personalities than Sybil. And this whole scheme he comes up with is totally amateur hour. How old is this guy, 12? That's another thing we never find out, how old he is. If we are to believe that he accomplished all of the things he did in his lifetime he would have to at least be in his 40's. But who knows.

This book was schizophrenic. It's main characters were schizophrenic. Therefore, it was confusing to follow and made it impossible to connect with any of it. I think the title is fitting...

I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN MC BOOK

I got this as I love MC romances, and even though Declan is a member of Dante's Nine, there's not very much about the club in this story. I was looking forward to all the usual drama and tension that this genre usually generates. Declan I liked a lot, except that he didn't act or sound like a tough biker. He was more like a polished business man. As for Kassie the minute that she's introduced in the story, I absolutely knew I wouldn't like her. I was not wrong, she's way too self centred and shallow. Her back story didn't justify her behaviour at all. I just found that it was difficult to connect with the characters.

Overall this was an okay read. I may give the next book a go.

Do we judge this with other MC books? Are we to judge it with other Fighter books or do we judge it with millionaire entrepreneurs? Therein lies a problem, there are too many facets to Declan and for a MC club member he's too 'nice' for an entrepreneur he's too rough and even for a Fighter his vernacular doesn't sit quite right, he's too posh and doesn't come across completely tough as nails. Oh and let's not forget he was a soldier too...... Hmmmm overkill much! Certainly too much for me.

Now what about Kassie? I didn't like her right from when she was handling the 'messing around' with Stephen? I mean come on! You want and encourage and men to go down on you and then you kick him to curb whilst acting shocked that he would be expecting things to end with the condom not still being in his pocket on the way out. Then she has the audacity to slap him for inferring that! Arghhh Kassie you are a prime example of why men use the word pr*ck tease! Not a good start in warming to her.

Then we have endless pages of general chit-chat with Kassie and Kelly (methinks the author likes names beginning with a K) I was yawning throughout their conversations, they didn't flow very well certainly didn't help me warm to them any more.

Also what the heck was that prologue about? A scene with Kassie giving it up to Declan and then bam further into the book the giving up scene is absolutely nothing like or even to do with the scene in the prologue! Was was the point of it - absolutely no connection with anything at all!

This isn't a book I can say I liked too much, it's just ok in my eyes. So many little things didn't sit right. A fair bit of editing needed to give it zing more and Declan needs to grow a bigger pair. Kassie needs to stop stropping around and barging in on things, and hey I wasn't impressed she was comfortable from the start blowing his money, all traits that border on the likes of 'me, me, me' kinda people, yeah very hard to like.

Also, what was the point of Dani? That part had as much fizzle as a flat cola.

The bones of the story was the ok part, what Declan was and had to do and the outcome was what kept me reading on, even this area though could have been so much more meatier but compared to me trying to like the people in this book those fights and especially waiting for the last was definitely what carried the book to the finish line and stopped it from being a DNF.

I wouldn't recommend this book. It's not worth the money or the time spent reading it.
Kassenia, our heroine, is one crazy bitch.
There, I've said it. Sorry, to those who love it.
She doesn't have sex with anyone but sure enough likes to have oral sex with anyone willing enough. What irritates me is that she gets mad when they want to take it further.
Hello! You could've said something before.
That's exactly how this book begins with her getting it on with some classmate, Stephen. He gets her mad because he wants more and she doesn't.
They start arguing and what does she do? She slaps him.
God, give me patience.

Then, comes along, our hero, Declan, who is btw a little bit on the girlie side.
He's also a softie and sometimes it did seemed as if he was the girl in the relationship.
Creepy.
Anyway, I still felt bad he had to end up with her.
I get it she has issues but holy hell she's just too much.
Too dramatic. Too stupid. Too whiny.
I didn't even finish it, just skipped to the end.

For some reason I thought this book may be a different kind of read. In the beginning of the book it shows a scene of her and Declan in a tub. througout the book not one time dows this scen come up. what was the point of putting that scene in the prologue? The characters were strange and Kassie was annoying. this was really a waste of my money. I want a refund!

This one started out interesting, but fizzled for me. I didn't care for Kassie, and I didn't believe their relationship. I don't know, it was a bit boring and unrealistic to me, especially the whole fight thing, and then it just seemed to wrap up too way too conveniently.

I'm going to give this one 3.5 stars, started off good and was definitely different than most MC stories. Rich businessman, underground fighter and belongs to a MC, little too much..Am starting the next one will see where it leads me.

This story was overall good and I finished it relatively quickly which is a good indication that it is probably at the least entertaining. The story pretty much centers a virgin college student Kassenia Bennett who lost her whole family in a tragic situation but she does not that allow it to diminish her drive of doing something with her life. As she is about to graduate she happens upon this ad for a summer internship that could give a kick start to her endeavor to start her own business. The ad is place by Dante Nine’s very own mogul Declan Tiberi who essentially is an investor.  He is in need for an intern who is to help with his many businesses and investments thru the summer and in turn he would help the intern get their business off the ground but the key is Kassenia must promise to not fall in love with him. Although she is extremely attracted to this man she is more determined to have a business of her own and she thinks can handle this with no problems. Little did she know that Declan had some secrets of his own. He is a loyal brother to the Dante Nine he essentially has sold his life to help his brothers out of a financially situation they are involved in. As you guess they fall madly and deeply in love and Kassenia not only becomes his life but she saves it too.  ~ I thought the concept of the intern was great and I loved the story. If I had to complain about something I really disliked that you have this strong women who has done all of these wonderful things and has many great accomplishments and she answer this ad that seems a bit of a blow to her integrity but that is a very small part. I like books that can take a love story and place action in there and this does a wonderful job of doing that. I also really enjoy when a man can be so hard but softened by a wonderful woman. I think that if you love, love stories and you get the butterflies when read about someone treating someone like a princess I think you would thoroughly enjoy this book.

3.75 stars is what I give to Colleen Masters for this work. I liked the possibility of the novel so I purchased it. I'll start off by writing what I liked. I liked the whirlwind of everything, the story just kept moving. The chemistry between Declan and Kassenia was something to like, possibly envy. Declan's character was hot, smart, funny, and loyal. I loved him instantly. Kassenia is witty, intelligent, and an all in kind of woman. The two of them together gave me great satisfaction.

I would have liked for the story to be a bit less choppy, sometimes I found myself feeling a jump. I would have liked for the story line to have developed better but that could be a writing style thing. I feel as though the story didn't naturally progress but just kind of unloaded things like a dump truck. I would have loved to see more character growth, too.

Overall, Impossibly was a decent read. I laughed quite a bit due to Declan and Kassenia's personalities. The romantic element was sweet but felt slightly forced. I would say this is still worth a read.

I love MC romance books. I am a sucker for a biker romance. This was a very different kind of MC. There are only 9 members of Dante’s Nine MC. Colleen does not get into MC life beyond brief mentions throughout the book. There are many layers to Declan, he is like the top 3 kinds of hot alpha male hero we all want to read all rolled into one: biker, millionaire, and MMA fighter. Our heroine Kassie is strong, independent and thankfully not whinny!

I love Colleen Masters. This was a little darker than the previous books I have read from Colleen. Colleen writes sex scenes that are so sensual, erotic smut can’t touch them. Her characters are interesting and have depth. I would love a little more of their future but I am overall happy with another Colleen Masters book!

I received a gifted free copy for a review from Hearts Collective and Colleen Masters. I am grateful for the gift!

I don't think there was enough angst, or sex in this book. I was a tad disappointed, especially with it being an MC book. I mean Declan I did love him, "don't sound so disappointed," he says, "I've just got to disappear for a few days. Business. You understand. You'll have me all to yourself for the rest of the summer, I promise." He can voice his opinion, "all I want is to lay you across the bed, strip you down, and make you come, screaming my name," he rasps. "You're the most gorgeous woman I've ever met, Kassie. I'd kill for a taste of you." And he's not bashful, "mind if I join you?" asks a sexy, sleepy voice from above. I jerk back to the present, blinking up into the warm mist. Declan is framed by the shower door, smiling down at me. And, of course, he's totally naked. I stare, transfixed, as that beautiful body eases into the shower beside me."

Enjoyable read, not a full on mc biker book, but you do have the club, members, old ladies and hangers on. Great opening to the story, sets it up nicely, really liked Declan, although logically you don't want to like him but he's very noble and loves his club and will do anything to protect it. Of course when Declan and Kassie meet they instantly like each other, but they take their time, loads of flirting and when they finally get together it's lovely, steamy the whole bit. I know there are further books and the next one is about Kelly, Kassies best friend. Great start to a series will definitely have a peek at rest of the series.

Absolutely amazing!!
For an mc book this one was extremely different and i LOVED IT !!
"YOU CAN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH ME" so the contract from Declan to Kassie says, but who ever plays by the rules ?? Not these 2 that's for sure !! And anyone who doesn't fall in love with this book is mad !! Such an amazing story, and such an emotional rollercoaster as they both fight their pasts.

The H, Declan, was the treasurer of his MC, a budding venture capitalist, millionaire, former Navy SEAL, prize fighter AND underground fighter. With a little creativity he could also have been a firefighter, circus clown, and street performer. Why not, right? Seriously, I thought he was a little bit of too many things, and not enough of one.

A couple other things....the prologue was odd, and the first chapter was strangely narrated. Didn't fit with the rest of the book.

However, I did find it entertaining even if I couldn't really decide if it was an MC romance, fighter romance, or just a plain old millionaire romance.

An easy read.
Nice and sexy.
I did think the hero's whole deal on dying was a bit irrational. It made him stupid. And her taking the job under the guise of that ad, was kind of stupid too.

Besides those stupid things, I ignored them and focused on the awesomness of them. Therefore, I only take one star away because I really enjoyed the story.

This was an alright story. Kassenia wasn't the most likable character to start out with but she was ok for the most part. Declan was fine but we don't get much exposure to him really until the very end when everything gets explained.

Kassenia is just graduating from college with her Masters. Her parents and sister died in a tragedy a couple years ago and Kassenia has had trouble trusting people or letting new people in her life (except for her 1 BFF). Her relationships are non-existent as she tends to go out with guys just so they can get her off (and then throws them out as soon as they put any demands on her).

Declan is a business entrepreneur, an underground fighter, an ex Navy SEAL, and a member of a MC. He grew up rough and ended up in the Navy because it was his best bet to stay out of jail. He ended up as a fighter, MC member and entrepreneur later, juggling many distinct parts of his life to make things work. Problems come up when the MC has money issues and Declan decides to sign up for 4 fights to get money the MC needs.

Declan had won 3 of the 4 fights when the contract changes and he's expected to die at the end of fight #4 or the MC gets nothing. He's unhappy about this but Declan also doesn't feel he has much to live for and figures he'l give his life for his brothers (but doesn't tell them what's going on). Declan decides he wants to fall in love before he dies and puts an ad in Craigslist for a summer intern/partner in a start-up company which Kassenia sees and applies for. The ad is unlike anything else she's seen before but the offer could help with a start-up business idea she really wants to make happen. She replies to the ad hoping that it's a legit opportunity. When she meets Declan (he comes roaring up to their interview on his harley) he isn't at all what she's expecting and it just makes her more leery. However, when they start talking there's a definite connection between them and the business part sounds like a dream come true for her. Kassenia is a bit surprised by the line in the contract stating that she loses everything if she falls in love with Declan but considering she's never felt soft feeling for another guy before she doesn't worry about that part. Kassenia decides it's worth the risk to accept the internship with Declan and see what happens.

Kassenia gets to Vegas and is set up in a great apartment and Declan buys her a whole new wardrobe (after all she has to have adequate cloths for her new position, right?). There's a definite attraction between them and even though love is outlawed between them, it seems pretty apparent that they're both very interested in sleeping together. This doesn't happen right away but they do get to know each other better as they work on the start-up business. Kassenia gets to see the different sides of Declan's life and she feels the need to dig deeper and figure out what makes him tick. The summer is skimmed over pretty quickly (showing certain times between them but most of it is off page) and things start getting more serious between Declan and Kassenia (even though they're not supposed to). When time for the final fight come, Declan has decided he doesn't want to die after all but he doesn't see a way to get out of it. There is drama and some danger but they do get worked out and things get wrapped up nicely with Declan and Kassenia starting a HEA together.

This was a good story. For me, Kassenia came across badly in the first 10% of the story and it took some time for me to get to a point where I was interested in seeing her together with Declan. The story itself was interesting but there were some definite areas where I had to suspend disbelief or thought there were some plot holes (some of which were resolved in the explanation at the end but not all). Overall it was a decent story and if another book in the series is release I might give it a try.

* note - I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator did a good job but there were a handful of editing mistakes. The editing issues weren't enough to ruin the book but they were definitely noticeable.

Title: Impossibly
Author: Colleen Masters
Series or Standalone: Book 1 in the Dante’s Nine MC series
Rating: Four Stars ****

Review:

Impossibly is the first book in the standalone series Dante’s Nine MC, featuring the main characters of Kassie and Declan.

The very beginning of the blurb quite eloquently says it all. “Two shattered souls...backed into a corner and ready to fight for their lives, for each other, for their impossible love...”

I’ve been picking up and reading a lot of MC books lately and I’m starting to notice a common theme among them all. The lines almost seem recycled, situations as well, but this one wasn’t like all the others I’ve been going through. This story stood out because it was more than just an MC book. At least it was for me.

I think that’s what I liked most about this story. It didn’t fit into one specific place. If the author was attempting to stand out she did it. Declan didn’t come across like the Jax Teller that so many other main characters do. He was strong, yes, but softer, more compassionate and more than just a “biker” or a member of a “club.”

I believe that the club lifestyle was captured well here. Maybe it wasn’t identical to the way clubs are run all over the world, but I did like the family aspect that was presented and how it appears to be in movies, television, books and real time. I also thought that the way they treated club business, making sure that even regulars in the club weren’t a part of it was authentic too. It all came across very organic to me and made me like this even more.

Declan had money, so maybe he had a bit of a billionaire feels without the billions, but he also had the club aspect as well as fighter aspect to him. The author took this man and made him into three different things, but they all melded together very well. I can’t honestly say I looked at him like he was “hot”, but I did get him and I did love him.

In the very beginning, I had a hard time connecting with Kassie, and I’m talking very beginning, but after a bit, I warmed up to her considerably. By the end I was invested in her completely. I felt that I could understand her in a lot of the different situations she found herself in and it hooked me into wanting a happy ending for her. For the both of them. I think as a couple they worked, despite everything that was shoved at them.

This book really is the way it’s quoted at the beginning of my review. The story of two shattered people, coming together and teaching each other to love again, but also that it’s alright to love again, that they’re deserving of love and the journey they’re put on to reach this end.

The pacing was fantastic, it turned out to be a very quick read for me and because of the way it was written, pages couldn’t flip fast enough on my kindle, which is exactly what I’m after when I sit down to read. Connection and a book I’m gonna feel pain from if I have to put it down. This had all of that in spades and the addition of Kassie’s best friend and Declan’s brothers just made it that much better.

This was a great read for me personally and now that I’ve tackled two books by this author I can safely say I like her writing style and will be delving into even more stories written by her. (but first up is the second book in this series because I want more lol)

Great 5* Read <3

My review contains spoilers that detail parts of the story a prospective reader may not want to know prior to reading the book. This was a first time author for me. With so many MC romance books hitting the market these days it is hard to find a new one that is good and not a repeat of one that has already been released. In fact, at the end of the book there is an excerpt from “Riding Dirty – Ruiners MC “ by another author. I read that book prior to this book and I saw quite a few similarities. Both involve MC’s in the Las Vegas area, both involve underground MMA fight to the death H’s who are also part of the MC and both involve the bad boy H getting a girl who is younger and less experienced. In Ruiners, the H is drugged in his last MMA fight by the dastardly villain can win big bucks by betting against the winner, who is a hands down choice to win (he survives). In this book, the H has agreed to 4 fights to death matches to get money for his club because it is in dire financial shape. By the way, that was also the reason the H in Ruiners was doing death MMA fights…to get money for his club. In Dante’s Nine, the H agrees to throw the fight, knowing that he is actually committing suicide so that his club can get the much needed money.
So when he agrees to die for the club (he doesn’t share this with anyone, even his MC brothers), he also decides he has 4 months to live and he is going to “fall in love” before he dies. He puts an ad in Craigslist citing criteria for a strong, business minded, entrepreneurial woman of western European descent. He will give her $250,000 at the end of a 3 month internship to startup her business if she passes her internship. I could go on and give more details but the short of it is the h responds to the ad, she is exposed to the many facets of the H’s life (except for the MMA), they fall in love, the villain targets the h when the H decides he does not want to die and then he decides to go through with the death match to save the h and get his club the money.
Final thoughts from my side, the plot was a little unrealistic but I suspended my practical side and tried to think about romantic fantasies. The author did make me feel that the H and h developed a love for each other. The MC aspect was downplayed and the MC really only consisted of 9 members, so I guess we’ll get some more stories later. The H in the story, Declan, is at time the bad boy officer of the MC, a sophisticated businessman who lives in a penthouse in Vegas, and a former Navy Seal. The h is in Berkeley at the time they meet, 25 year old virgin and getting her masters degree in technology.
I was very disappointed when I started reading this book and thinking, “I have already read this.” Then I go back and check my books read over the last month and find Ruiners and it all clicks. Then I was dismayed that the very similar book is highlighted at the end of Dante’s Nine. I still rated this book 3 stars because I think the author has potential but I would suggest next time writing a book that a potential reader doesn’t immediately think, “Gosh I read this book already.”

Impossibly (Dante’s Nine MC)
By: Colleen Masters
3/5 stars

Kassenia Bennett, 25 year old virgin, has not had the easiest time since she found out that a tragic accident, that took her entire family, was actually a murder-suicide committed by her father. She’s persevered and finished college, and then finished grad school and is looking to start her own business, and isn’t interested in working in Silicon Valley like most of her classmates. She comes across an odd business ad on Craigslist, where she has gotten contract work for previously. She will be set up with a mentor in Las Vegas, have a furnished apartment, paid for and kept by the mentor, along with all of her other needs. She will have the summer to work towards earning his investment in her new start-up company, making business contacts and more that will all be beneficial to her future. But she has to sign a contract that has a clause stating that she must not fall in love with him, or she will lose everything.

Declan Tiberi, is a multi-faceted man. He is an entrepreneur, business man, ex-Navy Seal, boxer and member of the Dante’s Nine MC. After his club runs into some trouble and needs cash, Declan fights in underground death matches. He’s fought in 3 so far, and has emerged the victor. But the last one could cost him his life. He hires Kassenia and works at teaching her what he knows about the business world and setting her up to run her company. He is very attracted to Kassenia and wants to pursue more with her, but he has to keep the underground fighting away from her, while letting her in to see everything else about his life.

The author’s writing was mainly solid. There were some minor editing mistakes. But those were easy enough to read through. I did like how the characters were essentially chameleons, able to blend in with different people, depending on the situation.

As a PERSONAL opinion, there were several parts of this book that I didn’t like, or that just didn’t work for me, which is why I only rated for 3 stars. I was looking for more of an MC book, but there were several things about the MC part that just didn’t add up. If they were one of the most feared in the nation, I doubt that they would have had the grave money issues that they did. I also didn’t buy that they could only have nine members & maintain that reputation especially without other charters. The meeting doors definitely would have been locked. Also, Declan trying to sacrifice himself… Not buying it as an ex-Navy Seal and a feared member. Also Kassi, being a virgin, but otherwise so worldly with her views on everything but sex. I’ve known girls like this so that part, I could understand. It was her being shocked that guys would expect reciprocity or some kind of action after they got her off. She even stated that it had happened numerous times, yet she was still surprised. Honey, learn the lesson that all those men are trying to teach you!

I’m not sure about going forward with this series. I may wait until the next book is on sale, before giving it a go.

Quite possibly one of the worse books I've ever read. It starts of with Dante however they don't tell you his name at all. Instead Masters explains the predicament he and his club are in. Even though I felt she was trying too hard to be ominous about his situation I was still intrigued Because it showed promise.

HOWEVER I got to the second chapter and began reading the start to Kassie's story. Unfortunately after reading a few pages of this chapter Kassie managed to piss me off that much, so I gave up, 10% into the book and I was DONE.

So it goes that Kassie has finished her date with another student in her class, Stephen. He is a perfect gentleman to her the whole night then she decides to invite him over to her shitty little apartment with her every intention of taking things further with him. He goes down on her, then Kassie decides to kick him out literally right after because hey she's only looking to have a good time and "have fun" and she "doesn't want any strings attached". Stephen is understandably a little upset over being used. Which hey I get because I would be too. What pisses me off is that she assumes that Stephen has gone all "lovey dovey" and is becoming attached when he questions her on why she's ending the night early. Which is quite presumptuous of her. Geez I don't know maybe he's genuinely confused as to why you would invite him over after your date, lead him onto thinking you want to sleep with him Then kick him out in the middle of getting your freak on? THEN when Stephen actually manages to call her out on her bullshit she gets upset and slaps the poor kid.

THEN she tells herself that's what happens when she "dates boys instead of men" like seriously? NEWSFLASH YOU LITTLE SHIT, maybe if you acted like a lady instead of little slutty girl you'd attract men, bitch.

Straight after Stephen leaves Kassie's best friend Kelly comes to the rescue with pizza and wine because she already anticipated that it was going to be a shitty date. First of all if you really were her best friend you would of never let her go on that date to begin with, also what if the date had actually gone well? It would of been really awkward standing there by the front door with your box of pizza and bottle of wine. Secondly as her best friend it is your job to tell her that she is a crazy bitch and how much of an asshole she's being by leading all these guys on because apparently that it is NOT the first time she Kassie's has done this.

Overall, this had the makings of a good story. Masters was onto something great when she was explaining the predicament of Dante however she totally ruined it by making Kassie such an annoying, whiny little bitch. This book gave me the shits and was a great waste of 20 minutes of my life. Plus another ten for writing this review.

Bottom line is, if you have any taste in good books and you're hoping for something to satisfy you're hunger for good books then don't even bother reading this shit cause you'll regret it.

DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER
This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants, cussing (sometimes I cannot help myself) and a possible full on recap. I in no way want to ruin anyone’s book reading experience so please read my words with caution.

Dante's Nine MC is "one of the most feared and respected MC names in the United States." Declan Tiberi signed a four match death contract and has successfully completed three. He may have the backing of his MC but they cannot help secure his fourth and final win. The only problem is the man bank rolling the fights wants him to lose the last one. Come August, Declan is expected to throw the fight which mean he's to die. The fuck. He decides he wants to fall in love in his last months.

25 year old Kassenia Bennett is not your typical girl. She drinks Jim Beam straight and happens to fool around with boys but has kept her virginity in tack. The only woman she's been close to is her best friend Kelly for the last seven years. Kassie lost her family four years ago and still suffers nightmares. She responds to an awesome opportunity via Craigslist - a summer internship in Las Vegas that will end with $250,000 for a startup. Her idea kicks ass! A site dedicated to educating about the importance of financial stability. It also will allow trusts to be micro managed for retirement. It takes two long days for her to receive a response back - anonymous ends up being one Declan Tiberi.

Declan comes to California to meet with Kassie for the internship. More of a formality. Kassie finds herself straddling the man's Harley after graduation to start her new life. Wonder how that do not fall in love clause of her contract will come into play.. Time moves fast in Vegas. Kassie is acclimated to all things Declan.. Well besides top secret MC business. It takes awhile for Kassie to give up her virginity, but she does eventually. They have extremely intense sexual chemistry. Could have something to do with the feelings they have for each other. Ahem. Oh yeah she isn't supposed to fall in love but it's his goal!!!

Declan is attempting to get out of his fourth death match. Not entirely sure how that's going to work out for him. Kelly comes to visit and of course things start to get fucked up. A goon squad comes for the girls and Kassie ends up shooting at one of them. Declan leaves a motherfucking note explaining that he loves Kassie but he's gone off to die. Excuse me?! Kassie has the brains to get to the club for the other eight member of Dante's Nine. She is the ONLY one who can stop Declan. He's barely alive when he gets there. I want to stomp on Lorenzo's face.. The FBI raids the venue. Interesting twist. I don't think Declan planned on surviving though..

Cliffhanger – no (book 1 of series)
POV - Declan and Kassenia (Kassie)

Declan, the Hero of Impossibly, was different than most Heros of MC books. He was a combination of the most popular hero's of bestselling stories right now. He is in MC, he's rich and the heroine's boss, he's a underground fighter, he's tattooed, and he's ex-military. I really liked the overall story line of this book, but felt like the story was rushed. I would rate it 3.5 stars if we could do partial star ratings.

The cons: We get a lot of unimportant details, such as decor or appearance, but then the story skips ahead weeks at a time instead of giving details of the relationship. The writing is solid, but a lot of it is internal monologue rather than dialogue. I prefer dialogue-driven books. I don't feel like we got to witness enough of the relationship buildup to make me invested in the couple. Finally, not much was resolved regarding the heroine's past. She was having nightmares at the beginning of the book, and they just went away without her having any insight or talking about it or anything.

The pros: The writing is solid. I caught a couple of editing glitches, such as "my" instead of "by", but nothing major or distracting to the overall story. I liked the Hero and the heroine, both had the potential to be brooding and pitiful, but were not. I liked the relationship between Declan and his"brothers" and wished we got to see more interaction with the club as a whole. There was no huge misunderstanding that separated the H and h, which is awesome. I hate when problems happen just because nobody's talking. There is no cheating by H or h. The H is alpha without being an ass. The heroine is smart and sassy.

Summary: I liked the story, just wished we got more details of the development of their relationship. Will I read the next in this series? Yes. Will I read other books/series by this author? Yes.

****Received copy for honest review****

I'm surprised by my rating on this one. For one, I hate books set in Las Vegas....seeing as I live here and author take such liberties describing this ever changing city. Two, the premise on this one was in one word: unbelievable. Either way, Colleen Masters knows how to tell a story, so yet again, she earns five stars....at least from this reader.

Kassie and Declan, two characters who are both somewhat broken, if not entirely. She is a 25 year old virgin, (that is getting old in most stories these days), who has suffered tragedies most don't experience in a lifetime. Declan is a motorcycle riding bad boy boxer who is involved in the wrong thing. Ambition, (business for her, the opportunity to experience love for him), brings these two together and the results are swoon worthy and heartwarming, if not a little fairy tale-ish.

Colleen Masters has such a way with characters and bringing her stories to life. This one's premise was so off base and....weird, for lack of a better word, and yet, I still felt like I was living it. That's rare for a reader to experience and she deserves major kudos for being able to transform a reader's experience in such a way. I was rooting for these characters, rooting for the HEA, and rooting for that gushy fairy tale feeling. I got all that, while at the same time, I was on the edge of my seat, reading continuously, saying, "aww" out loud! It really is amazing when you get that much from a book and no disrespect, but especially when considering for all intents and purposes this is a romance.

This is another winner for me. So far, Colleen Masters has yet to disappoint and again, I look forward to her future endeavors.

A highly recommended 5 stars!

Dante's Son

I was given an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

We start out with Kassenia Bennett. She herself is a contradiction. While raised in Fairfield, Connecticut to an affluent family she proves to be a very determined, somewhat down to earth woman. Having to deal with the aftermath of her father killing her family and then committing suicide she steers away from intimacy. Only allowing herself what she feels she needs and then retreating to safety. Determined to escape her past and live her life to the fullest she strives towards her dream of starting her own business.
When an intriguing if not disturbing job offer comes across her computer it takes everything she has to put all her misgivings aside and apply. What's the worst that can happen?
On the other side of this equation is Declan Tiberi. He is definitely not what he appears to be. A member of the mc Dante's Nine, he has literally fought his way to make a life for himself and his "brothers". In order to keep his club afloat he agrees to fight in illegal death matches to make some fast money. Only right before the last fight he is told he will be making the ultimate sacrifice.
When these two meet, there is an instant attraction on both their parts. The problem....Academia has to sign a contract saying she won't fall in love with Declan. Easy enough for someone whose a commitment and trust phobe....right?
Only Declan has other plans.
I fell in love with Declan from the word go. He was tough and determined, but also showed Kassenia from the beginning his true self. He was as multifaceted as a diamond. There are a few twists and turns that threw me, especially towards the end. But as usual Colleen Masters has me wanting more!
