Gritty, romantic, and action-packed. A must-read for lovers of bodyguard stories and plot twists. JD Roger's writing style is nothing short of immersive and vivid. My blood was pumping a few times! 😅 I loved the two main characters; Jack was totally swoony. A total binge read!

This is the third of the Black Swan Protection novellas that I’ve read and it definitely was the most intense! It was super fast-paced; I couldn’t put it down. I haven’t read either of JD Rogers’ other books but will I be doing that now? Yes, yes I will.
Gabby Marino is a waitress in a small town where nothing ever happens. She is ripped away from her boring, average life in an instant and is forced to trust Jack Cameron with not only her life but also with her friend’s baby’s life.
Because I can’t even begin to summarize everything that happens in that story, I’ll just say that ends up being a good thing. 😉

This bodyguard romance starts off with a bang and never lets up for a minute.

This novella deals with human trafficking, and even though it's a short glimpse into that world, it's tough to stomach.

My only complaint is wishing we got to know a bit more about Jack Cameron outside of his action hero persona.

Gabby and Jack are perfect. PERFECT. This book goes from 0 to 60 real quick and the suspense absolutely sucked me in. Gabby isn’t who she thinks she is, and suddenly has all these life changing secrets she has to deal with. Jack is assigned to protect her, but finds himself falling for her too. Its so.
dang. good! Gimme the love and suspense alllll day long.

Wow! What a gripping, suspenseful, mysterious romantic suspense novella! I loved every minute of it and wanted more! This one started off strong with the building up of the tension and suspense! The fast-paced story had me not wanting to put it down. I couldn't get enough of Jack and Gabby. Jack was a protective grump which is my favorite and Gabby was strong and courageous despite her circumstances and experiences. And the two of them together were just outstanding! My eyes were wide in surprise most of the time, in the best way possible. The back story of her family and their history was so intriguing. I also loved how Gabby took care of Jack and baby Ana, even while their surroundings may have been dire. I don't want to give too much away so I'll end by saying this is what I think of when I think of the romantic suspense genre!

Oh. This one is good. The third in the Black Swan Protection novella series. Intrigue and danger is the foundation for a perfectly believable romance. It has just the right amount of everything. I laughed when the head of the Black Swan agency bemoaned that might as well turn the company into a dating service. This one will have you holding your breath for the danger and the romantic tension.

This one was also good. I liked the aspect of the dark romance without too much of it. I’m kind of 50/50 whether I like that stuff or not , I think it’s based on my mood but I really liked this story. It was high stakes and angsty but nothing too bad and the ending was sweet and cute.

Shield Her (A Black Swan Protection Novella) was a whirlwind adventure, that I couldn't help wishing was a full-length novel so that I could have spent even more time with Gabby and Jack.
The story is about Gabby Mariano, who, in just one night, goes from waitressing at her dad's restaurant to being under the protection of Jack Cameron, her bodyguard. I was captivated as she discovered the secrets her father tried so hard to keep from her, all while on the run for her life. The story has a gritty edge and is filled with plot twists that keep you wondering what will happen next. But don't worry, this book has a happily ever after that will leave you feeling satisfied.
This was my first book by JD Rogers, and I must say, she did an amazing job hooking me into her story. If you're looking for a heart-racing bodyguard romance, then Shield Her by JD Rogers is the book for you.

Shield Her moved quickly with mild suspense that resolved without too much angst since it was a fast-paced novella.
Gabby is already questioning her childhood memories and her dad’s overprotectiveness when “Mr. Dark and Broody” enters her life as a seemingly grumpy and mysterious, yet very attractive regular customer at their restaurant. Buckle up from here on out.
I suggest reading it all at once so you don’t forget any details, and pay attention! We’re moving fast!

What a story! I was completely hooked to it from the first page, and this is definitely a "one sitting" kind of read, so clear your schedules if you're planning on grabbing a copy. It wasn't exactly the case for me, since life happens, but I finished it within a day (and a half?) so, for me, that's pretty much the same thing, lol. These Black Swan Protection novellas are so good! And don't be fooled by the "novellas" word. They pack plenty of stories inside each book! As with the previous, this was another case of bookstagram made me do it, and now I also want to check out other books by this author.
I loved Jack and Gabby's story, and it was full of romantic and swoony moments, as well as "hold your breath" ones. It's both a slow burn and single POV (hers) so you know the confession + first kiss and so on will be worth it, and it all paid off!! The pace of the suspense and plot twists/revelations had me flipping the pages, and I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the author, the genre (Sweet Romantic Suspense), the series, or anyone who wants to give it a chance. The action turned a little gory for my taste towards the end, but it's mentioned in passing/in a sentence. Other than that, be prepared to be swept away by the story. Enjoy! ~ 4.75 stars

Book three of the Black Swan series. I had high hopes for this story based on its premise. It sounded exciting and intriguing and I was super keen to dive in. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for me. The romance between Gabby and Jack was just not there. When they did get together it kind of just felt like an after thought. The epilogue did a better job at establishing their connection and relationship than the entire story before it. There were no moments of chemistry, no heat, no tension, no charged moments. It was a bit lacklustre in that capacity. I also feel like the baby was not used to its full potential either. When you’re tossing a cute little baby in with a hot guy, you gotta play that up! You gotta make it swoony and heart fluttering. It was a majorly missed opportunity here to encourage some of that chemistry, that longing. The storyline was okay. It was a bit strange but I enjoyed it enough that it was believable. I liked how it connected to the previous story where we were introduced to the Vidovic Group. It’s hard to get the balance of story telling and romance right in under 200 pages and for me, this just didn’t meet the mark. It was lacking in too many areas for me to forgive and I was left a little fizzled and wanting more. Overall, I wanted to enjoy this story more than I did. I needed more. Much more and it just wasn’t there.

I LOVE the bodyguard trope...especially when the bodyguard isn't allowed to fall for the person he's protecting. Jack and Gabby had great chemistry despite, or perhaps because of, their opposite personalities. So many heart pounding suspenseful scenes! 4.5 stars

Rogers will have you on the edge of your seat and swooning over these two as they fight to survive the danger they suddenly find themselves in.
Between the twists and turns that Gabby’s mysteries past bring up and the present dangers that have been uncovered, you get a fast paced and exciting story. Add to that Jack trying to stay true to his position at work and fighting the feelings of the heart and you have one fantastic read. You won’t be disappointed one bit.

Shield Her is a fast paced exciting little read by JD Rogers. I love a good bodyguard story and Rogers delivers with hunky, protective Jack Cameron. Danger and a hint of mystery keep the story moving and heart pumping. In her typical style, Rogers sucks the reader into a world where urgency and trouble rule the day. If you love romantic suspense and haven’t read her books yet, I highly recommend you start. Today!

This is my new favorite from this author! I love strong masculine Jack who is the protector body guard and I love Gabby and her fun personality. This set up was the perfect mix of broody and sunshine, and forced proximity. The banter and flow of the story led great through the suspenseful moments I was not expecting. I was happily surprised! Loved it!

I love J.D.'s writing, and this novella did not disappoint! It is packed with action and romance. I love how Gabby stepped up to protect Ana even though her whole world had changed. My favorite part was Jack buying a cannoli for Gabby every day!
I highly recommend this book!

Too Much Adventure
Gabby wanted adventure, and she got a lifetime of it in a few days. Nothing was as it seemed. Her bodyguard from Black Swan wasn't evident until everything blew up and secrets were revealed. Just wow! Another great story in this series .
