Still filthy hot and a tad ridiculous.
Although this time around I asked myself what about it exactly is so taboo that it's sold solely on smashwords. But hey, there are good news too. I just discovered there is a second part to Quin and Colt's story and it's on KU. Love it. Downloading it now. 😏

Usually it’s a HUGE turn-off for me when in gay romance one is referring to the other one’s a*hole as pussy. Furthermore, I usually don’t even continue with the book. However, going along with Colt’s kink of treating his step-son Quin like a 50s-wife it worked for me, or at least I could roll with it —probably because Colt never acknowledged out loud that Quin still very much was a man despite his feminine features, the dresses, the makeup and playing into Colt’s game. It made sense in a way. Still, Colt never forgot either that his baby girl was, in fact, a man and always used he/him pronouns when referring to Quin.
Despite their unusual relationship that seemed quite degrading Quin’s and Colt’s romance was surprisingly sweet. And filthy! Sprinkled with a bit of “who hurt you”. *swoon
But there were two things that bugged me and were my reason for not giving it the 5 stars I initially thought I’d give this. The first one was the whole breeding-dirty-talk. My brain needs a little more variety, I mean every scene is similar and the dialog is just copy/paste. So the dialogs don't really have any content anyway, which is ok, but do you have to repeat the same thing over and over and over and over again.
I mean, I already understood after the second time that Colt wants to fill Quin up with his cum so much that he gets pregnant.

What is with me? Two 3 star reads in a row? That doesn't happen often for me.
But honestly, this one just didn't entirely work for me.
Was it hot at first? Yes, definitely. It's definitely getting points for that. And while the build up of romance was practically non-existent (a negative for me), once they were all the sudden there, I enjoyed how much Colt cared for Quin and spoiled him and gave him everything he wanted.
The tropes were things I don't mind, but I didn't feel 100% percent immersed in them, perhaps because it took Quin some time to 100% embrace them.
Those tropes include:
✓ Heavy feminization (Colt calls Quin his wife, his baby girl, etc. all the time, and well as calling his ass his pussy, and wanting him to act like a 50's Housewife)
✓ Age-gap
✓ Stepfather/stepson (although that was practically a non-issue when Quin's mother leaves, so it's a barely there trope)
✓ Pregnancy play (with talk of Colt fucking him so much he's "filled with his seed", enough to "get pregnant"
✓ "Touch him and die" practically literally
✓ "Anything my baby wants, my baby gets"
And I can love/enjoy all of those tropes. But they weren't all utilized the greatest. The last two were great, but the three before that were kind "meh" or nonexistent. And Quin being so resistant at first to the first one didn't make it as enjoyable.
But then time is skipped forward and he kind of all the sudden is happy and into it all.
Also, I was sort of the mind that the skipping ahead several weeks/months skipped out on a lot of development for their relationship, but this is so short that the skipping ahead makes sense. But at the end of the day, they could have made it longer to give a little more build up to their relationship.
Again, once we got them in the romantic part of their relationship, I enjoyed it. But the build up was practically non-existent, which I didn't appreciate.
The sex was good for most of this, but near the end I got kind of bored with it. I even skimmed the last two or so times near the very end, and I just wanted to be done with this.
Also, that is because this takes a bit of a wild turn near the end.
Quin's mom was married to Colt, but she left. Quin is 21, so he's an adult, but she still abandoned him. Quin thinks about her a time or two (after his initial trying to find her), but not much else.
I was hoping she'd walk in on them having sex, and she does, but then the scene after goes completely off the rails and frankly, in a ridiculous direction.
Why does it have to end with Quin and he's broken up about it for about 5 minutes before he's practically over it, and he and Colt just sex it out and then everything is hunky dory.
Like why couldn't it just have either . Either option would have made sense. But then they went with what they went with and then didn't follow through on it.
It was the most random, out of place shit that added nothing to the story.
Also, the romance development was practically nonexistent. They're having sex and then all the sudden they're more, when it's skipped forward some weeks or months later. It was very shallowly done overall. But I did enjoy the romance once it was just all the sudden there, which is a plus for it.
So, I just had some problems with this and I didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping I would. It definitely was not worth the 5 bucks I paid for it, and it wouldn't be worth it for you guys to pay for it either. It honestly should have been 2 bucks, 3 at the most.
So, the sex was good for a good portion of this, some of the tropes were handled well, others not so much, and one was so-so.
I liked Quin as a character, he was a sweetie. Colt was okay. I liked him more once he started doting on Quin. The sex was good for a good portion of this, the romance once we all the sudden got to romance was good. Those are all positives to give this 3 stars.
But I had too many problems to give this more than 3 stars. Also, I shouldn't have felt like this ran out of story and was dragging it out near the end when this was only 144 pages. But what these authors came up with for "plot" near the end was too much, and then it was like "why are we still here in a story? It can be over now."
So yeah, overall, fairly disappointed. I had high hopes for it and it was just, in the end, kind of "meh."
I would say, if you're not expecting more than sex - and are okay with big skips in time that gloss over a lot of their relationship - and are okay with a "meh" plot out of the tropes I listed above, then I say go for it. The sex definitely does deliver for a good portion of this.
But if you're expecting more depth? Meh, don't count on it. It's just kind of middle of the road, at the end of the day 🤷♀️

Seriously. I love the “who hurt my wife?” and a man who will throw down for his partner. This was that and more. Plus I loved the domestic fantasy these two cooked up, the unashamed roleplaying, and how he was spoiled to hell and back. I would honestly read 100 more pages of them being cute, or more couples in this dynamic. It was such a soothing read after reading something awful before this.
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this read if those warnings don’t turn you away. It is so good.

I cannot stop thinking about Colt and his Wife. I devoured this book and want to tell everyone to read it! It’s sexy, kinky, murdery and intense start to finish.
Colt just wants to live his best life as a husband and caregiver. He has expectations of a clean house, hole to use and dinner to eat. In return, he will protect, provide and care for. When his wife leaves him and abandons her son, Colt has to make a choice, keep him around or cut him loose.
Quin finds himself abandoned with his step father when his mother leaves them both. When propositioned by Colt to become his wife, Quin must decide if he can live that life or risk it on his own.
Quin falls into the role of wife so incredibly easily. As much as he wants to resist his duties he has to admit to himself that he’s enjoying it and falling for Colt. He finds himself learning how to cook and feeling beautiful in dresses and lace. Colt becomes so protective of his Wife and appreciates having him by his side. After waiting for so long Colt has finally found the wife of his dreams.
These two are so sexy in the bedroom. I absolutely loved their kinky talk and undeniable chemistry. I loved that Colt found himself bending over backwards to make his Wife happy. I was so happy seeing Quin embrace his true self and living his best life by being a wife.

Whew! Okay so this story was a pretty great read. Colt and Quin were well written. I especially enjoyed Colt.
What I enjoyed the most was the 1950s Household power exchange dynamic. This is the first m/m story I've (personally) read that went into a more niche kink power exchange dynamic. It was seriously hot!
The pacing was well done and the plot was engaging. Overall I'd definitely recommend giving this a read.

3.5/5. This was a fun, quick read. I think maybe not every kink was for me, but the TWs were great and comprehensive so I knew what I was getting into. Obviously I won't hold that against it. I enjoyed Colt's growth, but not necessarily Colt. Also, was it growth? We'll get to that. Anyway, he was a fun character, though clearly insane (in a good way? we'll never know). I really liked Quin. He was sweet and fun. I loved some side characters like Morgan, Quin's bestie. And the Pretty Woman scene was fun. However, I think this really went from 0-100 with little in between, which isn't necessarily bad at the beginning. But, Colt really went from demanding cooking and cleaning and not caring about Quin to suddenly being obsessed, which I'd have loved to have see that play out a bit more I think. Overall, quick and fun. 4/5 spice levels.

Bro seriously? 160 pages on this? I'm baffled. why? cuz delete all the sex scenes and the ridiculously repeated we will be left with ten ,if not five, pages of weak nearly nonexistent character and romance development.

I kink stumbled into the weird, and not wonderful, New Gothenburg world. I don’t read these books anymore about a place where a high school principal rubs elbows with the mayor at a downtown brothel and nary a reporter is in sight. It is weird and corny. The book was, too.
The plot line of a substitute wife, with the stepson subbing for the wife who leaves, is a familiar one and I can’t think of the author who has done it with much better charm and heat. Here, the set up was menacing with dub con and threatening in all of the first chapters. That’s par for the New Gothenburg world, a lack of mutual respect and communication.
I was all set for some service submission when I read the blurb, and dismayed with the book setting after beginning reading.
I felt for Quin, being dumped by his mother and making a deal with gangster stepdad Colt to be able to stay in school and have a place to live. His character was bewildered, yet wanting affection, and Colt could have been smoking in a better written story.

Uhmmmm okayyyyy, I am HERE for the dub-con with the side of sweet and underlying spark!! I know that when I need something that’s going to make me ask, “do I like this??”, Ki and MD will deliver!!
There is no lack of jaw dropping scenarios in this book! I absolutely loved the dynamic between Colt and Quin. Colt was married to Quin’s mom who disappears and leaves Quin there with his stepdad. Colt wants a housewife, and knowing that Quin needs support and wants to finish college, Colt gives him an ultimatum. And boy, what an ultimatum it is!!
I truly love the way in which Ki and MD had Colt pursuing Quin, even though he has never been with another man. They handled this story and the gender exploration REALLY well—feminization can be hit or miss for me, but Ki and MD created a seriously beautiful space for Quin when it came to trying things he had never done before. Colt knows what he wants and I loved that his interests allowed Quin to realize just who he exactly is! Colt, for as brash of a man as he is, I loved the sweet and tender moments we got between him and Quin!
The relationship between these two grows and develops SO well for how fast paced this book is! There is no lack of spice in this one; Colt doesn’t hesitate when it comes to pleasing his princess! This is a story of two men figuring out what they like and want out of a relationship, and finding a seriously mesmerizing happily every after once they do.

February 25, 2024I can't say I'm always up for dub-con, but I usually love where the brains of Ki Brightly and M.D. Gregory end up that I snapped up an ARC of His Princess despite some of the trigger warnings...
I can definitely say there is no lack of dub-con, but there's also something else - a spark and an underlying sweetness. I love the way each character grows into the relationship, finding more of themselves than they bargained for and finding a dynamic that they both enjoy and want to continue.
There are so many touching scenes that overshadow some of the darker elements, but they're definitely present, so please heed the trigger warnings and understand that this is no sweet and fluffy HEA, it's hard-won and definitely kinky.

Quin is 21 and his mother left him with his stepfather Colt, a morally gray rich businessman, she was just gone. Now he doesn’t have a place to stay.
Colt has a proposition for the spoiled brat:
Leave or “Be my wife and let me breed you until I’m sick of you.”
Well, that promised a lot of fun, or not!
Quin is disgusted, the man only wants a woman, and only for a h0le and a cleaning wife.
Ha! I wanted to smack Colt, he’s an animal, what a d1ck, he has only brains in his smallest head, even it was a beautiful big one, he is still the biggest d1ck. Pity he’s gorgeous, protective and wants nothing more than to see Quin happy. Uhh? where did that come from? Did I say he was a d1ck? The transition from enemies to tolerating to more was marvelously smoothly done.
