Hero. Heartthrob. Hustler. Prey. Abel Torres is now one of the most famous young men in America, a national hero, a sophomore in college with a musical career beginning to launch.
As he prepares for the opening of Les Miz, a stranger threatens to make public his life as a prostitute with multiple clients, not just the congressman, which could crash his future and humiliate his family. Dirksen could be in trouble. Prince Ali could be implicated; his uncle powerful and ruthless. Who betrayed him? Who can he trust? The white supremacist underground, enraged that a mixed-race gay man thwarted their revolution, has him in their crosshairs. The pressure and violence begin to unravel Zachary’s mental health. Abel signs a major record contract just as a militia group spoils the announcement.
And, as always, his voice soars.
Amazon Reader Praise for Student. Singer. Lover. Spy. 5.0 out of 5 starsWe All Need Heroes We all need heroes to personify our dreams and inspire our lives. Abel Torres, son of a Black mother and an illegal immigrant father, is just such a hero. In confronting the challenges and mores and judgments of American culture, and his many personal crises of conscience, he reaches for the ultimate American dream, emerging as a hero to us and best of all, to himself. Courage, conscience, honor, patriotism, not to mention an Andrea Bocelli-like singing voice, it all comes together in this highly entertaining and uplifting story. Bravo!
5.0 out of 5 starsNow THAT'S a good read! Breezy, fun, and fast-paced. Deliciously sarcastic, yet romantic and tense all at once. So many favorite characters, I couldn't decide who I wanted Abel Torres to end up with! Most of all, Copperhead is so far out of the mold that I never once groaned, "this again..." as I do with so much m/m fiction. Good job,
5.0 out of 5 starsHard to put down... Copperhead is the author's third novel and I have to say, his writing style and storytelling gets better with each book! This is a great read, hard to put down, keeping me up late. Lots of action and adventure and of course, a bit of romance making for a very entertaining escape. Copperhead, or actually Abel Torres, is a compassionate and outstanding singer...and sexy to say the least. I highly recommend the book.
Steve has published his third novel, "Copperhead", after stepping back for a few years. Two additional novels will be published in the winter of 2023-24.

Here's one early review:
“Action-packed…brings top-level entertainment...Fans of LGBTQ action will love this large, well-woven plot that includes passionate love and sex, espionage, the FBI, terrorism, music, the media, and politics. --Foluso Falaye, San Francisco Book Review
Just as exciting and suspenseful as the first book.
This book is just as good as the first one. It held my interest, and I couldn't put it down. Abel and Zach have had their share of problems and have struggled to remain calm. When fame hits, they try their best to remain normal. What they possess is love, and that will pull them through any hardships.
