Rate this book
The complete Fate of the Fae series.

Captured by the Fae
I come face to face with my captor, the Fae King, and he’s as terrifying as he is mesmerizing. His dark hair, chiseled body, and icy blue eyes draw me in, but he’s dangerous—especially because I’m a human.

Forbidden Fae
The Fae King claims me as his own, but a fairytale ending is not in my foreseeable future. I don’t know what darkness resides in me. I don’t know how to find the light. There’s only one way to escape this, even though it’s the last thing I want to do.

Fae Destiny
I’ll either save my kingdom or destroy it. I rule by my mate’s side, but I’m an integral part of a prophecy that threatens us all. My power is still a mystery that I must unravel to save the kingdom.

Ruthless Fae King
My enemy claimed me as his own. I must return to Palgia—to the place that was once my prison. The future king better prepare for a fight. My choices are my own, and I will never choose him.

Her Warrior Fae
A terrible accident wipes my memory clean. Dex makes me feel safe, and I’m told that we once loved each other. But if I’m supposed to love him, why can’t I remember anything about him?

So hard to get into

I made it 15% into the first book and that was a struggle. This is one of those stories where nothing makes sense. I don’t understand the time period. There is holograms but that seems to be the only technology. They were tunics and leathers but some stuff that seems to fit the time period is considered primitive. I was just lost when it came to the world building.

Nothing about the characters makes sense. It is established that the FMC has had this rough life where she has been constantly mistreated by the Fae but she seems very quick to like and trust everyone. She is instantly attracted to the MMC which kinda kills the enemies to lovers trope and nothing really connects and your left wondering are you missing something or is this a magical thing that will be explained later? The relationship and connections between the characters got more weird to the point that I don’t care to find out why they don’t make sense.

There are also a lot of phrases that don’t make sense. One in particular that bothered me was when the FMC said she tasted her heart. What does that even mean??? She was always tasting and emotion or something and again I couldn’t tell if this was a part of the story as a budding power for the FMC or just poor writing on the authors part.

Anyways I give up. The more I read the more frustrated I got. So I DNF after 15%.

Five books in this series that are all binge-worthy!

1. Captured by the Fae
Vera Rivers is a new author to me so I had no preconceived notions about her world-building or her character's personalities. That being said, I was intrigued by the blurb and the cover of 'Captured by the Fae', book one in her "Fate of the Fae" series. Ok, don't judge me … it is a cover that inspires some type of mystery or intrigue. I would normally give a brief synopsis of what the book is about and the characters themselves but, as I said, this is a new author and I don't want to disrespect her since I don't know her preferences, I'm choosing the side of caution. The storyline itself is intriguing with all the Fae, magic, murder, betrayal, drama, angst, loyalty, and a subtle fated mate situation. I'm impressed and have already signed up to read book two in the series. If you're like me and enjoy a bit of paranormal then you don't want to walk away from this one.

2. Forbidden Fae
Vera Rivers takes us on a journey of self-discovery with Ellie. Learning she's part of a prophecy, her internal power and magic have made itself known, and yet, no one seems to know where it comes from. Is she Fae? She still feels human, her skin does not shine like most Fae, nor are her ears pointed. But her magic? Oh, it's more than powerful. Powerful enough to save Ren, Nylah, and Dex … not once, but twice, and because she has there will be war. Or is that the only reason? Her magic has taken her through the castle where she discovered two separate tomes at two separate times. One describes the prophecy but before she reads completely through it she lets her fear get the best of her and closes the book. The second time was an invisibility spell that would block the fated bond from being felt so Ren couldn't locate her. She'd been having nightmares/visions of complete and utter devastation where everything had been destroyed. In Ellie's mind, the only conclusion was this was to take place if she stayed with her fated mate and became his queen and they ruled together. Since Ren is determined not to give her up, she feels she has no choice but to leave to save his life and hopefully put an end to the war. The journey was not only an emotional one for Ellie because she could still feel the bond, although not as strong, but she could still check on Ren. Giving him and her other friends up had cut out a piece of her heart. But, each must do what they feel they must, right? Vera Rivers has not only created a picture with her words but they come to life in my mind as I was reading. The fear and anxiety Ellie feels is so potent and relatable it was easy to empathize with her and yet, I wish we could have had a bit of Ren's POV during this book to see what he was going through. I'm hoping the next one fills in a few gaps I'm feeling in this relationship but I'm vested in the series and look forward to where Ms. Rivers will take us next.

3. Fae Destiny
If you've been following the series, then you know Ellie has a prophecy hanging over her head. The only problem is they only know half of it which leaves a lot to interpretation and most of that is thinking the worst. And then, to top things off, Terra lets Nylah know that Ellie must find her mother for Jasfin to win the war against Paglia. Well, that's a dilemma in itself since Ellie didn't realize until then her mother was even alive much less where to begin looking for her. I will admit, I was a bit bummed out when most of the story was once again about Ellie and we didn't hear much from Ren. Still, as the story started to unfold and the anticipation and trepidation began to build, my disappointment eased tremendously. If this is a genre you usually read then, by all means, grab onto this one because you won't be disappointed. I'm anticipating 'Ruthless Fae King' next.

4. Ruthless Fae King
Not only do we get to journey with Hazel and Erol, but you remember him, don't you? But we get to catch up with some of the characters from her previous books in the series. Hazel's having a tough time reconciling herself to the fact that the one man who upheld the last king's punishments is now not only supposed to be on the side of good but that she's attracted to him as well. Erol, on the other hand, has always thought Hazel was special, even when she and her mother were held prisoner but he's long ago given up on the idea of hope. Hope could drive a man insane. It was an incredible journey and I want more of this world Ms. Rivers has created.

5. Her Warrior Fae
Once again, let me just say that these books need to be read in the order they were released to get the full impact of the overall story and a complete picture of the characters involved. Nylah, our heroine, has been through it all within this series. Now she's lost her memory and for some reason, they're trying to keep her and her mate separated. On the one hand, it was exciting to get to this point in the story, and then on the other, it was a bit bittersweet to see it conclude. Ms. Rivers has done that well with this one.

Captured by the Fae - Human Ellie is knocked out, turned into a vast Fae male for a short time, and has to fight a creature she has never seen before. Good thing she knows how to fight! When Ellie is brought before Fae King Rainaird, he gives her two choices, to stay and train as one of his warriors or to go back to where she was living. Ellie chooses to stay.
Forbidden Fae - Ren and Ellie are now together. Training continues with magic thrown in. Ellie has her magic go out of control at a training session, and now she's worried. When Baut declares war on the kingdom, Ellie leaves at night, thinking she is saving everyone she loves.
Fae Destiny - When Ellie wants to go to Paglia to find her mom, Ren hesitates, telling Ellie that it's too dangerous. Of course, Ellie doesn't listen to Ren, and when he travels to Tholand to discuss an alliance, Ellie again takes off in the middle of the night. When she gets to Paglia, she is taken prisoner and placed in a cell with an elf woman and her daughter, who turn out to be Ellie's mom and half-sister.
Ruthless Fae King - This story has a LOT going on. Hazel and her mother, Vanya, are now living in the Jasfin castle and have started clearing any Palgia citizens of the dark Conjurite magic. Erol, the pawn of the deceased King Falx, and Hazel have a connection. They both fight the link, at least at first.
Her Warrior Fae - In the final Fate of the Fae book, Nylah and Dex finally realize they have real feelings toward each other when Nylah begins having doubts about following Terra.
These five stories include action, romance, and steam, with the last one ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

Or will Ren find out the truth? What of his fiance? What does Lucia have to do with it? Who will survive the coming days? Action, pain, romance - this book has it all
Forbidden Fae
Ellie and Ren are bonded - but will it mean the end of the world - and cost Ren his life? What will happen if Ellie leaves him? Will she ever find out the truth about herself and her parents?

The build up of the great characters, and great story line in this series is brilliant! Will Ellie and Ren succeed in bringing peace to their people? Will Ellie find her mother and learn more about her past? Or will evil win?
Ruthless Fae King
Hazel and Vania go back to Palgia - and that means meeting Erol again. The light and the dark - will they succeed in freeing the people from the darkness?
Her Warrior Fae
Nylah has lost her memory - her connection to Terra, and to Dex. After everything they have been through throughout this series, can it really be that they are not meant to be together? I have loved watching the characters develop, with a really entertaining story line that has often been full of action - brilliant writing from an amazing author!.

If you enjoy the fae and romance this is a must read. FATE OF THE FAE is the complete collection of the series by Vera Rivers. The characters were captivating and the plot drew me in till the end and left me wanting more. The steamy scenes are well placed and not just for thrills.

This is a world where Fae rule and most humans are slaves. Behind everything in this series is Dark Magic slowly consuming the world, destroying everything light and good.

The series starts with Ellie. She's free but works in a bar for tips and maybe a little food with a bed of rags on the floor. Her world is turned upside down when she wakes up one day in a cell, in someone else's body accused of killing the king and thown into an arena to fight a monster. Get ready as Ellie tries to survive as a human in the world of fae royalty filled with political turmoil.

This is a good dark romantic fantasy. I loved reading about this world.

Fate of the Fae #1-5 . . .

This Collection offers you the complete FATE OF THE FAE series. Below is a review of one of the stories to give you an idea of what you will find. The books blurb also gives a small summary of each story as well. I have read several of these and they really will hold your attention.

˚。⋆。˚ CAPTURED BY THE FAE
˚。⋆。˚ FORBIDDEN FAE
˚。⋆。˚ FAE DESTINY
˚。⋆。˚ RUTHLESS FAE KING
˚。⋆。˚ HER WARRIOR FAE

*** Reviewing “CAPTURED BY THE FAE (#1)” ***
Ellie's Capture . . .

The story line in this book is very different and intriguing. Ellie is a human and suddenly finds herself before the Fae King accused with murdering his father. That makes no sense since she doesn’t have that kind of power to be a threat. Will they kill her outright for the crime she did not commit? Has she been set up by someone else? Can Ren, the new King, search for the true story here? And will Ellie find out that maybe she isn’t as human as she had thought?

3.5 STARS!!!
This complete series was such a good series. From the very beginning there will be characters you will love and those you will love to hate. I absolutely enjoyed Ellie, Nylah, Zita, King Rainier and Dex and I continued to enjoy their characters throughout this series, so I was that they got their HEA throughout this collection. This series mentions abuse but it's a series that's full of action, suspense, mystery, jealousy, war, steamy scenes, laugh out loud moments, a prophecy that may or may not change everything and a HEA for more than one couple. There were some parts of the story that seemed a little slow as there were quite a few things that were repetitive in this story but none the less it was a series I enjoyed and I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author.

Tired of having to wait for the next book? Wanting a complete series with Fae and romance and action and adventure? Then this is the series for you.

I love that you can get all the books in one series so that when you read the last page and are on pins and needles to see what happens you can eagerly and immediately jump into the next book.

This book is engaging. Plot is good. Characters and Character development is well-done. Overall this is a good read that will keep a reader entertained and then after the last line of the last book the reader still wants more.

I will be looking for more from Vera Rivers.

Repetitive

I wanted to like this book so bad, but it was sooooo repetitive and because we only got one POV at the beginning she didn’t really take the story anywhere. If she would’ve said “he is the king and I’m only a mere human” ONE MORE TIME.. I swear I was gone scream. Didn’t the author have ANYTHING else for this character to gripe about? It started off super strong and I was ready to grab my blanket and dig in, but then it just fell flat. When the author only writes from one POV it gets boring and she keeps repeating the same things over and over. The reader has to guess what the other characters are thinking. After getting I think page 68 I’m done. I won’t be finishing any part of this story.

Into this drama of political subterfuge change comes in the form of Ellie, the one human who will ignite a spark and capture the love of a Fae King.

This omnibus contains all the books in the series. I was able to get through the first book but it wasn’t enough to lead me to read the rest.

Like others have said, there’s no really world building, the characters seem one dimensional and there’s a lot of repetition. It felt like almost every chapter we were reminded about how their love is forbidden because he’s fae & she’s human.

Reading the summary of the book I was expecting an enemies to lovers romance but our fmc fell in love with our mmc at first sight.

The concept was good, the first few chapters had me hooked but I think the execution fell off for me.

Fate of the Fae (Complete series) by Vera Rivers contains all 5 books. I could take an entire page describing even a snippet of what happens in these romantic fantasy books. All I really can say is wow what a wonderful ride.
Ellie goes from being a human being born in a small town to being captured by the Fae king. She now lives among them and her life and journey begins as she learns she is apart of a huge prophecy!
This series was wonderfully written. I devoured it up in just a few days. If you love fantasy and romance I highly recommend picking this series up!

amazing concept

I loved the concept of this book, the characters, the world, the way modern mixed with the past. The story and concept were there but the depth of the writing wasn’t. Some of it felt very shallow and other times it felt repetitive like Eleanor running away over and over again. I felt like the smut scenes were meant to tie the different scenes together but it all fell a little flat. I read the whole series hoping to have an emotional response but it never came. 😭

OMG, this series was so great and was a steamy page turner and had the suspense darkness of fantasy romance. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even imagine putting it down. It was addictive and I was hooked at the first page. The characters are amazing, well developed, and deep. I truly felt a connection with each of them which makes the book that much more enjoyable. I can’t recommend this book enough!

amazing

This series is very underrated and it is amazing. The story line kept you reading to find out what happened next. The spice was perfect. The characters brought the story to life. I was not sure about this series because no one was talking about it but I truly enjoyed and would recommend this series. This series needs to be publicized more. The writing was descriptive and captivating.

An experience not to be missed!
Wow! These books give a rollercoaster of a ride: have tissues ready and be prepared to stay up late to finish. There is so much involved in this amazing world that Ms Rivers has devised and I could not get enough of it. The ending is bittersweet as it brought an ending to the fantastic books.

I loved reading these stories and the first three follow Ellie and Ren's relationship. I would have liked to have read more from Ren's POV also. The first three books are mainly from Ellie's POV.

Book 4 is about Hazel and Erol and book 5 is about Nylah and Dex.

You gotta love a HEA!

I loved this series. A bit dark, full on interesting characters, drama, intrigue and danger. Add one human to a Fae King and get a story that drew me in from the beginning and had me trapped to the end to see it all play out. A slow burn romance with hidden danger and surprises. Loved it.

Fun and sexy!

Quick moving story lines and likable characters. The writing for the sex scenes is a little repetitive but not annoyingly so. Completely enjoyable and everyone gets their 'prince'.

So poorly written. Short, abruptive sentences. Very little depth and substance. Initially thought I had downloaded a kids book until the 'spicy' parts and swear words told me otherwise.... terrible.
