Great fantasy
dragon lovers delight!
Epic fantasy. Its snappy sentences and short chapters give it a fast pace.
The magic system is vast and deep. The main character likeable.
The imagery of dragons and magic display will delight all fantasy lovers.
For me the multitude of errors (review given Jan 24) kept throwing me out of the story and slowed everything down. However I note the author is having it edited in March. Hopefully the editing will also erase a lot of the 'telling'
Highly imaginative, would a great movie or TV series.
And ps don't be put off by the cross reference to Game of Throne, the blood and adult content of that series is not in this book, thankfully 😊

Fantastic! I was captivated by this story start to finish. A combination of the elements I adore in fantasy books, presented in a fresh innovative way. The intricate magic system is both fun and complex. The characters are so quirky, charming, and mysterious. I am having a great time getting to know them. Castlestone: Ascension does indeed feel like a blend of and build on the worlds from Harry Potter and The Name of the Wind. I cannot wait to delve into the next chapter of this saga

Great follow up
This book was way more involved than the first one. I read the first one in one day, but this one was quite the commitment. There’s a lot going on, and make sure you’ve read the first book if you want to read this one. The characters are complex and there are a lot of nuances you have to pick up on.

The story has potential, to be sure, but I’m sad that I paid money for this book. The author warns at the beginning of the book that this is not a polished version, and boy, that’s an understatement. Don’t make readers pay for your book if it’s not yet edited to a publishable standard. It’s tacky.

This book grabs your attention right away, and then leads you on a wonderful trail of adventure and discovery in the fallout. I loved the pace - the story unfolds slowly but not too slowly. Some will love the technical description of magic and the deciphering of runes - I didn't, but still found this book to be really fun. Can't wait for the next one!

Dragon monstrosities, an epic battle between good and evil and charismatic characters are just some of the draws of this first installment in what will undoubtedly be an epic series designed to scratch that fantasy itch for fans of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and the like.
Throughout this story, readers come to know and love the title character, Brecken, as he becomes a crafter. After mysteriously surviving a brutal dragon attack, he is forced into a world he never dreamed existed as he begins his training at the famous Castlestone Academy. However, Brecken emerges as more than the ordinary crafter and demonstrates abilities far beyond anyone’s expectations. Readers meet many interesting characters and question loyalties on all sides as the plot plunges towards an epic conclusion.
I can’t wait to learn the rest of the story and hopefully Wagner is already working on the next book! Bravo to this debut author!
