From New York Times Bestselling Author comes BE MINE, book 6 in her bestselling contemporary romance series, Holland Springs.

Scottish Duke, Liam Stewart, needs a wife and an heir before he can inherit the money he so desperately needs to support his family, his staff, and restore his ducal estates to their former glory. Only ever since his ex-fiancee ran off with the gardener, Liam doesn't believe in marriage, or miracles, for that matter… until that is, Isabella Edwards appears at his Edinburgh town home with the answers to his problems.

Local preacher's daughter and former missionary, Isabella Edwards had the perfect life all planned out. Marry her perfect fiancé, live near her family in Holland Springs, open a bookstore, and have a couple of kids. Except… her fiancé ran off to Las Vegas with his widowed ex-stepmother, the bookstore closed before it could open, and now… now, she's pregnant after a one-weekend stand with hot Scot, Liam Stewart.

To Isabella's utter shock, Liam proposes, but a marriage can't last on desire alone. The problem? Isabella and Liam are totally opposites. In fact, the only time they're in agreement is in the bedroom. Desperate to keep her reputation, she accepts.

Now her only hope is that they can put aside their differences and let love bring them together.

2.5 Stars. This book was chugging along, not a great read, but not terrible, either. The characters were all right, though they had a tendency to annoy me, especially Isabella. Once again there were things that were assumed that I would know, like all of Isabella's cousins, or what the hell Sebastian does, or really even what the hell Liam does outside of being a duke, and that bothered me. But I was letting those things go because I did start reading books pretty far into a series without having read their predecessors. My problem with this book is that I feel like the conflict between the main couple is stupid, and would have been easily resolved if they both hadn't acted like children (and I feel especially Isabella, because she lashed out at Liam with no real provocation and then ran away). And the finale to what ruined this book for me was when Isabella went to do Mission work in a country hostile to Christians while noticeably pregnant. Are you stupid?! Do you have no sense of self-preservation?! At the very least, a third-world country is just not the best place for her to be because of simple healthcare. Like, are there doctors around and are they good doctors? Is this a place with a lot of disease? For someone so paranoid of having a miscarriage that she doesn't color her hair or drink any caffeine, she seems totally down with going to a country that is dangerous. So...coffee bad, potential jail time because of distributing bibles acceptable. Got it.

I think this was rushed to meet the deadlines.

Not all 'conflicts' were resolved. I want closure.

Liam came from a poor family, right? Did Bella get a chance to know that? No. :|

I guess it frustrated me that there could have been a lot of potential for a good story here.

***While this is a part of the Holland Springs series, this can be read as a standalone novel.***

I've always been a huge fan of Marquita's. Ever since I picked up the first book from the Boys of the South series I have been hooked. So when I was given the chance to review Be Mine I jumped at the chance thinking I would love this book just as much as I did that series. While I wasn't the biggest fan of this book, it had nothing to do with the way it was written or the story my issue had to do with more of the fact that I just couldn't relate to the characters and while on the shorter side, it still failed to capture my attention like so many of her other books have in the past.

Liam Stewart never expected to be attracted to a woman like Isabella Edwards. He's not looking to have such a strong connection with another woman, especially not after his fiance ran off with another man. Same for Bella. Her fiance ran off the Vegas with his ex-stepmother, what a story for the town to hear. Bella has played it safe ever since a mistake at the age of sixteen changed her entire world. Bella wasn't looking for what happened that weekend, but taking a chance she follows Liam and they spend a passionate weekend together. Issue is, their chemistry in the bedroom is all they share. As soon as they exit the bedroom, they are at each other's throats and part ways after only a few days together thinking they'll never see one another again except in passing. Well, that's where they are wrong.

Liam needs to marry and produce an heir in order to inherit the money he desperately needs to keep Wintersea running and it's employees working. Bella needs to save face when she finds herself pregnant and without a father for her child. Her solution? Go to Liam. Liam can't believe his luck when Bella shows up on his doorstep and they agree to marry right away. But what about love? What about that happily ever after that Bella so desperately wants and the very thing Liam doesn't believe in? Can Bella and Liam's marriage survive a life together especially after Bella tells him she must complete her obligation as a missionary and leave for two months?

I wanted to love this book I really did. I expected passion, hot sex, and an alpha male especially since the description described how much passion they have for one another. I'm still looking for that unfortunately. Their weekend together was great, but that's where all the passion was. They had a couple of fights, a few shorter sex scenes, and well that's about it. I expected hot sex, passion, fire, desire, and all the other great things I have come to love about Marquita's work and unfortunately this one just didn't have it. I did enjoy seeing a familiar face from another series, although I won't name which one, you'll have to find out for yourself. I wish I felt different about this one but alas the way I feel, is the way I feel. I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to four for review purposes.

Posted on What I'm Reading

First off, I absolutely love the Holland Spring books. They have been my favorite contemporary series. And Marquita has mention that Be Mine is going to be the last of the Holland Spring books. Here's what I think of it *stick my fingers in my ears* "LALALALA". Honestly, I have grown to love all the characters in the series, and yes I would love see a couple of others have their own happy ending. I can hope that one day they may have a story somewhere else. Anyway, I guess I should focus my thoughts on Be Mine.

I enjoyed Be Mine immensely. You have two people who are polar opposites that have to come together, because of a baby. Granted they didn't have to get married, but Liam needed to find a wife and get her knocked up, so he could inherit his fortune to fix things. Then Bella shows up on his doorstep like a godsend, but he wouldn't look at that as divine intervention. After all, Liam believes it was pure coincident. Even as they are trying to get better aquatinted they still argue on ideology and politics it becomes a sore point in there marriage. So, Liam and Bella struggle to see eye-to-eye. And both are extremely stubborn that they don't appreciate the gift they have until it's almost too late.

Be Mine is a fantastic story that brings two people that shouldn't really be together, because they are so different. Somehow they manage at the end. They both have insecurities and use them unintentionally hurt each other. Each of them has to reflect on what was more important being right or working things out. Yes, Marquita did squeeze out some tears. So, if you are looking for two stubborn people who are attract to one another, but don't know how to deal with the other, you might consider Be Mine.

Yes, Be Mine can be read as a standalone.

***4.5 out of 5 stars***

I'm a huge fan of Marquita Valentine and was really excited to get a chance to read Be Mine early. Ms. Valentine delivers once again with a beautiful and sexy romance.

Liam and Isabella are both very strong characters who are very different. I really loved both Liam and Isabella from the beginning. Even with their very big differences, they worked for me as a couple. They had amazing chemistry and while they started out only agreeing with one another in the bedroom, I liked watching it change the more time they spent together. Both Liam and Isabella had been hurt in the past and it was really hard for either one to admit their real feelings. I absolutely love watching characters finally figure out how much they love one another, especially when characters are as stubborn as Liam.

I really loved so much about this book. I especially love how even before Liam would admit his feelings for Bella, he showed how much he cared for her by taking care of her. However, my favorite thing he did for her was when he surprised her by wearing a kilt. *sigh*

I loved getting to spend time with some of my favorite Holland Springs characters as well. The friendship between Daisy and Bella is a favorite of mine and I'm so glad they are always there for one another.

Be Mine is the 6th book in the Holland Springs series, but really does read well as a stand alone read. I personally think Be Mine is a beautiful, sexy and sweet romance and recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances.

Bella & Liam's story

Isabella Edwards discovers she is pregnant with Liam's child after a week end of passion after the wedding of Zoe & Christian , and her best friend Daisy finding the love with her own husband Sebastian.

Liam Stewart, a duke coming into his inheritance learns that to gain access to his inheritance to save his home and people he must marry and have an heir in order to claim it, and it is his luck that Bella shows up at his door step and pregnant with his child, in order to save his people he marries her and Bella agrees as well to avoid any scandal, what they did not expect was that during their "honeymoon stage" they will be faced with trials , but no matter how hard it is it leads to their own happy ending and finding love .

For the past couple days I have been into Scottish historical Romance, so when I came across Liam's character I easily loved the character , and add to the mix that his a romantic, thoughtful ,and loyal once cannot dream of a better hero , the Scottish brogue is just the cherry on top !

A must read novel!!!

I think this has to be my favorite book among the Holland Spring series so far

Be Mine, by Marquita Valentine, is Isabella & Liam’s story. It is the story of two opposites, or so they think, and their attraction to each other. Liam and Isabella are strong characters. Both had been previously hurt in love and were leery about getting involved with and trusting one another. The chemistry between the two was amazing. I loved the scenes where they were getting to know each other, not just in the bedroom. I loved watching the character figure out how much they love each other despite their stubbornness. I really enjoyed the little things Liam did for Isabella; bringing her parents for the wedding and especially wearing the kilt for her.

I really enjoyed getting to spend time with some of my favorite Holland Springs characters as well. The friendship between Daisy and Bella is a favorite of mine and I'm so glad they are always there for one another.

Once again Ms. Valentine delivered a beautiful and sexy romance.

Great read, with a Scottish Duke, kilts and crumbling castle. What's not to love! Loved having glimpses of Sebastian and Daisy's marital bliss, also. Isabella had a one-weekend stand with Liam, then they fought and went their separate ways. When she found out she was pregnant, she went all the way to Scotland to give him the news in person. Turns out Liam needed a wife and heir to inherit the money he needed so badly for his castle and the village where it resides. A match made in heaven, not. They had lots of differences of opinions, political, religious, etc. but decided to marry to give their baby a family and because they were so disillutioned by past relationships. If they promise respect and fidelity, it should work out and did, for a while, until doubts about the other's feelings came into play.

Got a kick from seeing Roman Smith, from The Request, make an appearance in this book! Love how all the series by Marquita have crosslinks.

When it comes to doing activities with his woman Liam is a fast-growing man, “shower, eat, shag. Not necessarily in that order.” He pulled out of her, and then rose from the sofa. “I’m a flexible man.” Liam really is a good guy and the boy is whipped:
“I’ll buy you a gown,” he said softly, reminding her of the man she first met.
“I’d rather you buy me flowers.”
His head dipped. “Whatever my duchess wants.” Then he kissed her, and she melted into him.
He knows how to make some sexy promises, “I’ll work on it. You won’t regret marrying me. I’ll give you respect, friendship, amazing sex, and more children, if you like.” When one's man is in a kilt you ogle the **** out of him, "she didn’t have to look away. Liam and his bare behind were hers. If she wanted to bite or smack one of his cheeks, she could and he, the lusty man, would probably order her to do it again." Out of the whole series this one was my favorite.

I put off reading this book because it was the last of a very beautiful series. A series that had beautiful charming characters, surrounded in an amazing town and even some beautiful places all over the world.

Liam and Bella's story is sweet and beautiful. I love Valentines writing and am happy to hear about the new series coming up. I seriously can't wait!

I've been anxious to read Be Mine since finishing Not Over You. Surprise babies and marriage-of-convenience tropes are so much fun, and this was no exception. Add in a man in a kilt who's not afraid to flaunt it, and Be Mine was a treat!

I liked the old school yet modern take. It was an interesting twist to Marquita's typical stories. However, I think the book felt rushed & the characters were tough to relate to because of that. It was good but not great.
