Taryn is a lawyer with a deaf son. Easton is the drummer for a band and is one of the song writers. But each of them harbor a secret. She’s actually married and hiding out from her abusive husband who suddenly appears to wreak havoc on her life because he wants to run for senator. The thought is that he wants his picture perfect wife and dear son to have play happy family for votes. Instead he grabs her arm and leaves bruises.
Easton sees the bruises. He’s secretly going deaf. Diagnosed at 15 with an irreversible genetic condition, he’s trying to play music as long as he can before he’s completely deaf.
They start hooking up when her coworker asks Taryn to be Easton lawyer in a dwi case. He gets along with the kid. Part of his community service is to speak at some schools about drunk driving. The last one is Jamie’s school, Taryn’s son. Then the band gives Taryn’s son and two friends free tickets to a concert. During the concert though, Easton hearing goes. The band thinks he’s on drugs and he doesn’t correct them. He stays with Taryn for a couple weeks and then Jen the ex shows up and beats the shit out of her, he hears nothing. Jamie wakes up from his mother getting tossed into the wall. He wakes Easton and fighting ensues but Easton hearing is completely gone and doesn’t come back. Not when he gets thrown in jail or his lead singer friend bails him out. Then the jig is up and everyone knows Easton is deaf.
He gets to Taryn who is preparing to run. Instead they fight her face Bryan together, get a restraining order and a divorce. Easton gets a cochlear implant and can hear some things but not pitch and tone. Everything sounds robotic. But he is able to play drums again. HEA.
