Choosing Being kidnapped by aliens is only the start of Jade's problems. Thankfully, her rescuers, an alien race known as the Clecanians, are willing to protect her, but she has to stay on their planet for one year and respect the rules of their culture—including choosing a husband.
Freeing Luka has spent his life researching fertility in the hopes of discovering a cure for the Clecanians' low birth rates. He becomes enraged when he uncovers a sinister plot to abduct compatible species from their home planets.
It's just Alice's luck that when she finally begins to get her life on track, she's kidnapped by reptilian creatures and forced into a cell with a fierce alien for some kind of breeding experiment. Once free, can Alice and Luka's tenuous relationship survive on this planet?
Saving When Lily is freed from alien captivity, she refuses to wait for rescue—or recapture. She'll take her chances in the forest. Then, an enormous alien falls into her camp and makes her question everything. He's rude, grumpy, and annoyingly sexy. Trusting him would be a mistake. And yet . . . the idea of leaving him behind hurts way more than it should.
Victoria Aveline has always enjoyed immersing herself in a good romance. Alpha males are her weakness but, while possessive dominating heroes have always been titillating, she craved something more. So she decided to create a world in which devastatingly sexy men could be aggressive and domineering but still bow down before the matriarchy.
Victoria lives with her husband, dog, and about sixty thousand badass honey-making ladies. When not writing or fantasizing about future characters, she enjoys traveling, reading, and sipping overpriced hipster cocktails.
4 stars I have a deep appreciation for sci-fi romance, especially when it’s executed well, and Victoria has truly hit the mark with this story.
The narrative begins with a group of Earth women who find themselves abducted by a band of aliens with a singular goal: to obtain them as breeders. The situation seems dire and bleak until one woman manages to escape from the clutches of the malevolent aliens, sparking hope for her and her fellow captives.
Once they escape, the women enter an entirely new world—a vibrant, matriarchal society where men significantly outnumber women. In this alien culture, the men knew they would not have mates and enter into arrangements but they have a deep-seated desire for companionship. The moment it is discovered that these Earth women possess the ability to bear children, their value skyrockets, making them highly sought after throughout the planet.
The story is rich with tension as these women navigate their newfound status in a society that views them as prized possessions. Emotions run high as they confront their circumstances, dealing with the conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer of complexity, as they vie for the attention of these Earth women, leading to moments of romance and interesting encounters.
Amidst the challenges, there’s also an undercurrent of playful interactions, as the women learn to assert their own identities and desires in this strange new world. Overall, it’s a captivating blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps you engaged from beginning to end.
So I’ve read this entire series, see each individual book for my more in depth summaries and reviews. Overall, I felt like this series was really well written. The writer had a plan from the beginning and she was able to tie the stories together (as well as show the same scene from different perspectives) flawlessly. I grew attached to the Clecanian men and their human mates, it will be hard to leave this world behind.
Book #1 Jade is kidnapped from Earth and dropped on Clecania where she mates with Theo.
Book #2 Alice was kidnapped in the same ship as Jade. The Cae needed two humans, found Alice first and put her into stasis. Jade escapes and Alice is eventually imprisoned. Alice mates with Luka and together they escape and free the rest of the human women there. Two of them (Alex and Lily) run to the forest.
Book #3 Lily ran into the forest with Alex but got separated. She mates with Verakko. Lily received a phone call from Alex saying she was safe but engaged.
Book #4 After being separated from Lily, Alex ends up in Sauven where she mates with Auzed.
Book #5 Vanessa, another woman rescued by Alice and Luka in the same prison, wants to get back to Earth. She joins the marriage ceremony to pick Fejo, and eventually they are mates.
Victoria Aveline’s Clecanian series is hands-down the best of everything sci-fi romance has to offer—incredible world-building, heart-pounding adventure, swoon-worthy romance, and characters so lovable and relatable (alien and human alike) that they feel like home.
Each book pulls me in so completely that I cannot devour them fast enough, and yet, I find myself revisiting them again and again because I simply love Clecania too much to leave. Aveline’s masterful storytelling makes it effortless to get lost in these worlds, and trust me—I never want to be found.
If you love sci-fi romance with depth, heart, and the perfect mix of tension and tenderness, drop everything and read this series now! 🚀💙
The Audio Book for this series is worth it! This whole series was great! I definitely recommend it to anyone who liked The Ice Planet Barbarian series because it has great world-building to its fated mate monster trope just like IPB did. The Romance stories are wonderful too! The FMC's in these stories had great backstories and drama that was relatable to us!
