“Sometimes I think it would have been easier if I hadn’t accepted the free shower at the hot alien’s apartment.” ☆JESSY For the past few years, my life has kind of blown. On Earth, I dedicated my entire existence to science, even if my peers dismissed me as a pretty face. When I got abducted by aliens, I was forced to dance in a bubble for extra-terrestrial enjoyment. I can’t get anyone to take me seriously even in space. When I escaped by crashing my alien captor’s bus, Gra’eth saved me from drowning and even offered me a place to stay. He keeps telling people I’m his mate, even though I keep telling him the human word for what we are is roommates, but he refuses to say it that way. Sometimes I can’t tell if he’s being sarcastic or serious—and for my very literal neurodivergent brain, that’s a big problem. ☆GRA’ETH I never expected to have to save Jessy, and I certainly never expected for this strange human to be my mate. Her idea of fun would be to take apart my data pad only to see if she could put it back together again, which sounds like torture to me. I’ve convinced her to stay in my apartment as what she calls a roommate. The mating bond won’t let me let her leave, but humans can’t even feel it. I don’t know how to keep things friendly when just the smell of her hair is enough to send me into a mating frenzy. I don’t want to make her uncomfortable, but I can’t keep fighting the pull of this bond. This little speckled human will be the death of me.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚💜💙 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 World building: 🌏🌍🌎 Character development: 😒🤩😀🙂 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Jessy - she is now in group therapy on a planet far from earth after getting abducted by aliens and later rescued. She is not good at peopling, terrible at connecting with others, and neurodivergent. She is frustrated because she is not able to do what she was trained for. She was a scientist at NASA before she was abducted, a chemical engineer, not a rocket scientist. She had trouble in her field because she is beautiful, and nobody ever took he seriously. She has been living with her alien roommate Gra’eth who rescued her from drowning when she escaped her captors by stealing their vehicle which ended up in the drink.
The Hero:Gra’eth (a.k.a. Seth) - he is the Royal attorney on the planet, and is a bit of a germaphobe, always taking out his hand sanitizer. He has known since he first met Jessy that she is his mate, and he can’t stop thinking about her. He has been hitting on her since they met and at first, he thought she was playing hard to get but then figures out that she is just oblivious to the fact that he likes her. The mate bond has been going nuts and his thoughts of her in all sorts of sensual situations have been driving him mad. He is also very worried about any germs she might carry.
The Story: Jessy likes Seth, and thinks he was really nice for offering her a place to live. She thinks he hovers too much and is always asking if she is ok. She can’t even find time for some self care. He claims they are mates, though she has trouble with social cues and insists they are not mates, they are roommates. She doesn’t like to be touched, and he is underfoot all the time and is always smelling her. She is starting to think she smells awful. She tries to talk him into dating, asking if they have something like Tinder. He tells her they have the mate bond, which snaps into place when they see their mate. Like a biological Tinder.
I love the fact that these are both flawed characters. They are both pretty cute with their idiosyncrasies. Seth is kind of a stalker, and he just can’t keep his mind out of the gutter when it comes to Jessy. She, on the other hand, is determined not to be used or owned. She has been used for her body for too long and wants freedom. I kind of expected more of a romantic, comedy because of the title and the cover, but this was somewhat of an angsty alien romance.
“Good men don’t spy on beautiful women. Good thing I’m not a good male. I’m an attorney.”
The story surprised the heck out of me, when they go out to dinner at a restaurant on the planet and it turns out to be a BDSM (hierarchy gratification) themed night at the restaurant. Jessy is surprised but she is also hungry and would rather stay then spend the time to go somewhere else. Jessy especially surprised me as I thought she was going to be shy and nervous, but instead she cursed a lot and took things in stride more than I expected. I’m not sure I really liked Seth all that much either, he was too willing to do whatever Jessy wanted just to get her to stay.
This audiobook was told in multiple perspectives, done in dual narration and narrated by Ada Sinclair and Oliver Highpoint. Oliver has a nice, pleasing voice and does a great job. Ada Sinclair has a bit of a high voice, that grated at times, but she is very expressive. Though I wish it would have been done in duet rather than dual narration.
I enjoyed this one better than book one. I’m glad I continued the series.
I liked the relationship between the FMC and the MMC more than in the first book. I also found the story, as well as watching them adjust to their cultural differences, even funnier in this one.
In this story, we watch the FMC struggle with accepting the mate bond because she’s used to be owned, controlled, and underestimated by men.
There’s forced proximity and a possessive MMC that’s secretly in love with her but trying to give her space and be accommodating.
Just like in book one, there’s lots of spice, adventure, and sudden danger from sleazy aliens.
It’s a funny, spicy, entertaining, and quick read.
“You are my entire reason for existence.” He throws his head back. “You are my home. I am a shell without you, and I will keep you safe until my dying breath!”
🚀👽 This book was pure chaotic fun! An abducted quirky rocket scientist and an uptight germaphobe alien boyfriend?! Yes please! 🙋🏽♀️
The audiobook as delightful! I highly recommend listening to it!
To be honest, half of this book was very good, half annoying. It was annoying how upset she would get all the time, or repeating the same things. “How can i trust you?” Oh just shhhh.
It was fun none the less.
I think the next book might be more interesting, because the girl seems like bad ass characters. Apparently I like thst better
I really liked the female lead but I was just so-so about the dude throughout the book. I'm excited for the next book though. Although it seems the next book is about the rapey kidnappy cousin of the king, I like the girl already. The little blurb at the end seemed really good.
I received a free ARC from the author and am reviewing this book voluntarily.
this book is a lot more plot heavy, the smut is almost an afterthought, and while thats usually nice, i kiiiinda came to this for the smut.
THAT BEING SAID:
i did not expect to find so many like nuanced takes and observations on trauma and trying to love again with a prior history of abuse??? like i cried at a fair few spots at the book because jessy said some shit that RESONATED.
that also being said:
a materials engineer / chemical engineer is not a catchall for any and all science jobs and tasks, and i knowww i am nitpicky here.
sometimes gra'eth bordered on creepy and manipulative and i'm still 50/50 on how i feel about him, especially given jessy's trauma
so like. not as good as the first imo, but good for reasons i didnt expect.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really liked the world that is being built in these books! I loved the representation of neurodiversity and it was very very sexy💕 I think because the tropes weren’t the same as the first I didn’t love it as much… I like insta love and mate bond what can I tell you💕
I loved “gray Seth” and the pining and how he just sacrifices continuously for her it made my heart swoon😍
Don’t miss out on this hilarious Bubble Babes sequel!!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
I definitely enjoyed the first book in the bubble babes series, and went in too book two with high hopes and a dash of cynicism as I typically find sequels don’t do as well as the originals. For this book however that was not the case!! This was an amazing sequel that had me laughing out loud one minute, spit fire angry the next, and then absolute grieving at the end… only to circle back around to a beautiful happy ending!!!
*Spoilers for what happened in book 1 may be found below*
In this book we dive deeper into the plot of rescuing the human women that have been captured, and trafficked as well as the eradication of the Deenz!! Seeing as these were important issues in book one I appreciated seeing them brought back as an overarching plot in book two. It really helped connect books. An interesting thing that was added to the plot in this book is that we get to see how the women refugees are assimilating to their new alien home. This was an aspect of the plot I really enjoyed because it didn’t just show the women as happy and fitting right in with society, instead it showed them struggling to fit in, struggling to find a purpose. While of course I want a happy ending for all our characters I enjoyed seeing that bit of struggle that everyone could relate to in this interesting sci-fi romance! And while I love the plot, let talk about what we’re all really here for… the amazing characters and their beautiful love!!
I absolutely adored Jessy in book one! She was able to put her feelings aside to help a new capture and then when that captured woman was forcibly returned to them immediately offered his assistance with hardly a question asked, immediately earning her a spot as one of my favorite side characters in book one. And when I found out she was the star in book two I couldn’t have been more excited!! And if I thought she was endearing as a side character, she was absolutely amazing as the star of the show!! I mean Jessy is a NASA scientist who struggled during her life on earth to be taken seriously as a pretty girl in a primarily male dominated field, and then struggled again in her captive life being treated as property whose only purpose was to entertain those her captors deemed worthy, or who were willing to pay. So when it was no surprise that she wanted a purpose and her freedom in book two with no strings attached which she seemed to be getting close to achieving even if she spent most of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. Once she found her purpose though and was allowed to lean into a life of fulfillment and freedom, she was able to start relying on the people around her, trusting them, and in a sense creating her own little family that she felt comfortable being around, a support system she was severely lacking on earth. Being a strong, determined woman wasn’t the only reason I loved her character though, I loved that she was hilarious!! I can’t even tell y’all how many lines I have highlighted in my book of just lines of hers I found hilarious! Not to mention I loved that she was neurodivergent and while on earth seemed determined to change herself to fit in, on her new planet she chose to stop trying to fit into everyone else boxes and dance to the beat of her own drum!! This was made much easier when her mate Ga’reth is willing to accept Jessy just the way she was. Speaking of Ga’reth I adored him as well. Now I will say in book one I found him annoying because while he was willing to protect Opal as his friend/brothers mate he seemed to be comfortable being relatively cold to her unless his job dictated otherwise. In this book though our goofy germaphobe really steals your heart. He is what I call impatiently patient… meaning that while he knew from the get go that Jessy was his mate and he was ready to get on with a relationship he was willing to give Jessy the space and time she needed to heal and get to a place where a relationship could even cross her mind. Now don’t be fooled, this didn’t not stop him from being a possessive alphahole. Especially, when he felt like a male was moving in on his girl. And when he made a mistake he was willing to grovel and find ways to try and talk it out and find solutions to whatever issues that may arise. Honestly though I just love that he was so accepting of all of Jessy’s quirks and differences. He never once acted like she was too much nor did he ever ask her to change her ways to better fit in with his life, people, or culture! Their romance was so sweet to, while a little on the insta-love side there was still a great build up of friends to lovers. A love that allowed them to grow together while still growing as individuals. Honestly the romance portion of their book was just so well written and I loved it!
Overall, this was an amazingly well written sequel that contains a great overarching plot, funny and relatable characters, and love and spice that just won’t quit! If you’re looking for a quick little sci-fi romance than this is definitely the book for you!
Tropes: 🛸 slow burn romance 🛸 roommates to lovers 🛸 fated mates 🛸 cinnamon roll but very possessive alien 🛸 emotionally scarred fmc

~ STORY 📝 ~
This book was a little more complex story-wise than book 1, with more 3-dimensional characters and more "real" angst but overall it's a simple, funny (gosh this one made me laugh 😂), and steamy book ☺️✨
I loved the build-up to their romance and how FMC needs to learn to trust and feel in control of her body again in order to finally accept her mate.
This one is definitely my fav of the series!!
~ SPICE 🌶️ ~
If you read "All I Wanted Was To Become A Scientist But Now I've Got An Alien Boyfriend", you're in for:
🛸 Alien with special anatomy 🛸 Use of restraints 🛸 Soft femdom (She's a switch) 🛸 Voyeurism 🛸 Size difference
A little late and had thought I'd posted a review! 😁 I'll keep this short and sweet, but after having loved the first bubble babes, I just had to get the next book. And yet another great read and great couple. Havng enjoyed an ARC for book three, I felt I'd best catch up and add a review for this book. It was the titles to both 1st and 2nd that had my attention and with following this author and the wonderful art that brought the characters, to life; made for a very enjoyable read. So if you like what you see, then jump on board to enjoy these bubble babe couples. Plenty of spice 🌶🌶 and fun. 😁
Jessy is a redheaded bombshell who also happens to be a rocket scientist at NASA. Well, okay, maybe not a rocket scientist, but still, a chemical engineer is pretty impressive. I absolutely love the autistic representation, and I also love how the author didn’t shy away from Jessy’s PTSD from being sex trafficked throughout the galaxies. She’s damaged but she’s not broken, and Gra’eth, her hot alien attorney boyfriend and hand to the king, is respectful of her and the space she needs, stopping when she says to stop. I didn’t expect to get emotional at this silly alien smut but I did, and I had a hell of a time explaining to my husband why I was crying while reading it.
All I can say is, I absolutely cannot wait for Bubble Babes #3!
Bubble babes 2 📚-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🥵-🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🗣️-🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 This book follows the right hand of the king (the last MMC) and the scientist girl who befriended Opal (now Queen and former FMC)
This was another very cute, quick and spicy story. I am loving these characters and stories. I can’t wait for book 3 to come out on audio. I am curious to see how the duke handles his fiesty short human mate.
YESSSSSS !!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!! i was absolutely in love with the first bubble babes book when i read it, and was SO EXCITED hearing this one was coming so soon after !! its SUCH an easy read, so so fun, and i was SO pleasantly surprised to find sections of the mmc being submissive 👀👀
i so rarely see mmc’s be anything but dominant, so it was SUCH a treat having scenes of the human fmc taking control <33 especially with the added spice that the mmc could escape from restraints whenever he wanted to due to his strength, but CHOSE not to !!! 👀👀💗
massively enjoyed it, SO exciting about the 3 planned books coming !!! best believe i’ll be devouring those too, and i humbly request again, like i did in my last review, sapphic book sometime? 🥺 also more submissive men <33
“That’s so wild that you’re a rocket scientist. I would have thought you were like a model or a really classy stripper…” 5⭐️3🌶️
Back with the second instalment of the Bubble Babes series - Petra Palerno brings all the spice, humour, and emotional intelligence I loved in the first book.
Jessy is incredible. She’s a neurodivergent woman in STEM who doesn’t like to sit idly by when there’s work to be done. She volunteers to go help a recently crashed ship full of human women and Gra’eth, her roommate and secret fated mate has no choice but to follow her.
There’s such a lovely focus on trust and agency in this book. Jessy doesn’t understand the mate bond but she also wants love to be her choice and not just something determined for her. She pushes Gra’eth away a lot but he lets her take the lead and we get some surprise femdom out of it!!
Gra’eth is just stumbling through courtship with a woman he really doesn’t understand. They are alien to each other after all. I loved how he grovelled after messing up big time and how he fought against his instinctual urges to give Jessy the time & space she requested.
Side note: one thing I really loved was Jessy’s friendship with Rinn. All we’d really seen before then was Fi’len men being interested in finding their mates so it was extra special to get a friendship with one of them. Hopefully Rinn will take Jessy’s advice on how to treat a potential mate!
I love this series and highly recommend! They’re fast paced, spicy, and so, so fun.
I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.
I think I liked this better than the first one!! Definitely a different dynamic but OH MY GOD I CAN'T GET ENOUGH. I felt every emotion known to man and it was AWESOME. Let's go book 3!!
I have been chomping at the bit for Jessy's story pretty much from the time she was introduced in AIWWSBIGABAI. Women in STEM? Gimme. AIWWTBASBNIGAAB did not disappoint. It gave me everything I wanted in Jessy-a STEMinist, neurodivergent, badass, and caring woman. Jessy's growth from BB1 to this book is fantastic. Once she realizes her power she reaches down deep and holds onto it and refuses to let go, for anyone. She is determined to live the life she wants, and she is determined to do what she thinks is best, even if it does put her in a pickle a time or two. I seriously can not sing enough praise for Jessy and it's not just because I too have not had Doritos in years and I am oblivious to my "little messes." What can I say? Jessy is my kindred spirit. And then there is Gray Seth. This guy had me ready to throw my kindle and hoping it would somehow make its way to outer space to knock some sense into him. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for him but he didn't make it easy at times. BB2 is a very different book than BB1. This is really a story of personal growth for both of the main characters. Yes, there is still romance and alien smut, action and adventure. The more I see of this world and its characters, the more I enjoy these books and look forward to future books.
I received a free, temporary digital ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review before the publication date. My review is my own thoughts, opinions, and perspective and was influenced by nothing other than me, myself, and I. 3/5 Spice God I love alien dicks. You know what I love even more? Character development, representation, consent, and Doritos. Jessy is smart and sexy, and she knows it. She is also Autistic as fuck and that's beautiful. Gra'eth is a big bumbling mess with germaphobia and mild OCD who makes more than a few mistakes. We follow them in their journey as Jessy figures out how to fit in in a world that's not her own, and Gar'eth as he figures out how to understand the difference between courtship between Fi'len and humans. The story was emotional and engrossing. The spice was sexy and fun. The characters were messy and real. A quick, wholesome read with some spice and relatability. This was the cheese stuffed ravioli at Olive Garden with alfredo sauce and extra shredded cheese but you're lactose intolerant. Are you gonna pay for it later? Oh boy are you. Was it worth it? Hell to the yes!
Still human-alien porn with sensitive topics. But at least the protagonist wasn’t a complete idiot. I’m relieved I didn’t buy the third one so I can be done with the Bubble Babes.
The writing was seriously funny. The heroine’s autism, the hero’s germ-aphobia and OCD, the bonkers situations our MCs got put in, and this author hitting all the punchlines made me smile. I was rooting for this couple, their insecurities felt earned, and I liked the balance of realism and escapism with this alien society’s response to humans.
That said, instead of one big adventure-danger plot climax, this story low-stakes solved a lot of mini-problems…
Maybe that’s the secret sauce to a full-length lighthearted alien romance novel?
Maybe I don’t really like full-length lighthearted alien romance novels?
I wanted more of a “oh no, how are we going to get out of this situation??” stress moment. But stress would have ruined the mood… so this feels like a me-problem.
I only read like two pages of the first ice planet barbarians book before I realized I hated it. That being said, these books are fantastic. Read these instead.
Another enjoyable audiobook read where the narrators really brought the story to life. I liked this one better than the first (especially with a more positive internal monologue from the FMC) but there were still some things that didn’t have it quite at 5 star level and once again a lack of content warnings (although once again I listened to the audiobook, I don’t know if they were available in the e or print format).
Things I *did* like: -continuation of hilarious alien miscommunication / cultural faux pas trope antics -her pleasure forward -neurodivergent FMC, an awkward one at that! Not just “quirky” but genuinely has a hard time with social cues -STEM/Science babe that wants to do science -Handled SA/human trafficking in a way that didn’t feel like SA, but also the LI did not push or pressure the FMC when her trauma surfaced & he made sure she felt empowered -FMC making male friends!! -group therapy for all the humans (cmon, that’s brilliant!) -including characters from the previous books & setting up future books by having supporting characters (rather than the main & LI being the only ones all the time) -expanded worldbuilding so we learned more about the planet & culture -loved how fearless she was & her quick thinking on her feet
Things other than the CWs that I did not like: -pet peeve: water = no longer slick and lubricated 🐱 water scenes where the woman is still slippery and ready to go take me out of the scene so fast. It doesn’t work like that! -LI was more than just grumpy, as in grumpy sunshine, he was kind of a prick & his constant “humans are disgusting” thing got old fast -OTT jealous mates are hot but once it’s been established male friend(s) isn’t a threat and you’ve claimed your gal, it’s overkill to keep having violent outbursts whenever she interacts with another dick-haver -too little communication between the FMC & the LI, as well as the FMC and everyone around her: she keeps saying she wants to make a difference, wants to do sciency things, but she never *asks* for that, others lead her to it.
I had the pleasureeee of receiving this as an arc from the author & i’m thrilled to say that this fun sci-fi erotica had a girly HOOKED from start to finish
insane, hilarious, & sexy all at the same time
this 2nd installment of the bubble babes series follows jessy, a determined redhead with a passion for science, who unfortunately finds herself abducted by aliens and forced into unimaginable situations alongside other captive girls. enter big daddy gra'eth, a delicious alien who saves her and recognizes jessy as his mate. I LOVE the fated mates trope & the empowering portrayal of women in STEM added an extra layer of enjoyment to the story
despite the undeniable mate bond, humans are unable to feel it, leaving gra'eth DEEPLY infatuated while jessy sees him solely as her roommate. their dynamic was hilarious. the characters in this book are incredibly unique and distinct from opal and ke’ain, yet i couldn’t help but fall in love with them. (ke’ain will always hold a special place in my heart as my #1 though)
i loved jessy's strength and her pursuit to find her place on this strange new planet, where her intelligence can be utilized to its fullest potential. honestly, petra palerno's talent for creating captivating & multi-dimensional characters shines through, and I can’t wait to meet more of them in the future installments of this series!!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice : 🌶🌶,5
- Grumpy / sunshine - Fated mates - He falls first
After reading Book 1 I had high hopes for book 2 and was not disappointed. I found myself laughing more than a few times. I feel like I connected more with Jessy and Gra’eth than with Opal and Ke’ain. I enjoyed that despite the matebond this book is not an insta-love and how Gra’eth has to work to win Jessy over. This story is all about consent, power and character growth !! I love all the representations we have and how this is not your typical characters. The plot and spice were perfectly intertwined. Be aware that this book introduces us to characters that we will all want to see again and learn more about (Rin my baby). I’m looking forward to book 3 !!!
This book is a spicy space rom-com perfect for anyone who’s looking for a bit of feel-good spice.
AIWWBSBNIGAB continues the tradition of a slightly silly and very specific title, a hilarious naming trend that I love and hope continues through the entire Bubble Babe series.
While I absolutely would describe this book as a rom-com, with lots of humor and sweetness, this book is definitely not all flavor no substance. There is plenty of depth and growth from both of our main characters, as well as some pretty serious themes that are handled with grace. Jessy is intelligent and unafraid to stand up for herself, even to someone she loves, and I am obsessed with her. I absolutely love this series and this book in particular, and 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a spicy space romp as their next read.
I received an arc of this book. As soon and I saw another book was coming out in the bubble babe series I was so excited. I couldn’t put book 1 down. While I still think book 1 is my favorite, this one was still really good. Jessy has been through a lot of trauma and is trying to work through it. Her story isn’t as bubbly and funny as book 1. However, I did enjoy seeing a different story. I love how she’s a scientist. Her mate is the perfect match for her. Grumpy sunshine romance. And also this wasn’t a love at first sight story. It has a bit of a slow burn to it. I will definitely be picking up book 3!
