Fighting, apocalyptic quests, endless danger – it’s nice to get a break from that kind of thing sometimes. Why not escape into a world where fighting isn’t the only way to level up?
Come to a place where you’ll get a mug of tasty beer and a bowl of hearty winter stew to warm your belly. A place with bookstores owned by grouchy satyrs, and bakeries where delicious sweet treats are guaranteed.
Does that sound like just what you need? If so, you’re in luck.
Josh and his fellow builders want to take their little haven up to the next level and become recognized as a settlement. That means there are more shops to be built, skills to learn, and things to be crafted. And that’s just the way Josh likes it.
Blade’s Rest is growing by the day, so why not follow the journey of the sleepy little village as it does? There’s a warm stew and a roaring fire waiting for you in the tavern, and the friendly residents always love to meet travelers.
Slip into a warm sweatshirt, grab yourself a hot drink, and prepare to spend a cozy few hours in Blade’s Rest.
This is book 3 in the relaxing town-building LitRPG series, Blade’s Rest, by Tom Watts, the author of ‘Small-Town Crafter.’ The first book is called, ‘Welcome to Blade’s Rest.’
Hey! Tom Watts here. If you're reading this then you've either read one of my books or you’re thinking about doing it, and I want to say thanks either way.
I write low-stakes fantasy books that offer people a little of that important thing we call escapism, and I might have what you’re looking for.
Do you want to become a master craftsperson and live in a small, sunny village full of taverns and cafes? Then I have the story for you! Try my book, ‘Small-Town Crafter: the Artificer’s Apprentice.’
Or maybe you want to build a whole town from scratch right on top of untouched land, together with a couple of good friends. If that sounds good, then I’ve got something you’ll enjoy! Check out, ‘Welcome to Blade’s Rest.’
So, those are a couple of my books. As for me, well, I live in a little village with my wife and three dogs. When I’m not writing then I’m reading, and when I’m not doing that I’ve usually got a small schnauzer trying to get my attention.
Thanks for stopping by my author page. Make sure you press ‘follow’ so that you can be the first to find out when I release a new book.
Finally, If you try one of my books, then I'd like to wish you happy reading. Hope you enjoy visiting one of my fictional towns for a while.
This is the third book in the series and the best so far. Much more relaxed and comfortable. I like my low-stakes town building to be low-stress as well.
I did miss the Real World aspect in this book. We didn't even hear from Sas. I liked it when they met with other players.
I have read Watts' other series, about Lewis the Artificer. I much preferred this series. Some of the overlap, like when Josh goes to the market to hawk his wares was a mistake.
4/5 I really like the way the story is progressing. Sadly, neither of the second and third book are as good as the first one, probably due to losing novelty after getting settled into this game world. Even so, they are worth reading. They're getting me all excited for the future when we'll have games likes these. I can't wait for the next one!
So boring 8 actually stopped reading the last book a5 60‰… I just couldn't finish it, it just got too stupid and just didn't have any direction. Extremely dissatisfied with the series...
After Book 2's relatively high suspense level (for a Cozy gamelit book), Book 3 returned to "very cozy". There was a moment of interpersonal tension in the middle of the book, but only for a moment. Otherwise, it followed a simple little story arc of Josh struggling with Artificery while leveling up the Town of Blade's Rest.
