Stone Cold
Three massive stone gargoyles. Monsters all. And now I belong to them.

The heroine: Lara - she has worked for Winners & Sons Solicitors for years and after having a relationship with Christian Winners which ended badly, she has been fired. She found out that he was a very bad person after finding that he cheated on her, but she also found some damaging information on his computer which she copied to a thumb drive. He has had someone watching her since then and now he has fired her. She is definitely afraid of him.
The Hero: Viriroz, Carrarr & Garaz - Gargoyle Knights of the Winged Order. They fight demons and nightmares from the Underworld. They are animate stone but are still mortal to a degree. They live in castle Storm, in the Between (between the Lowerworld and the Upperworld, where humans live). They try to keep the demons out of the Upperworld and throw them back to the Underworld.
Viriroz - he is the alpha of their roost. He carries more responsibility than the other two on his shoulders and has to keep them all in fighting shape.
Carrarr - he was injured badly a few months ago, his wing especially has been slow to recover, and he was speared in the heart. He can’t speak but can purr. He knows what he wants to say, but when he tries to talk, it won’t come out.
Garaz - he was found not too long ago by Viriroz after leaving another roost where he dared to defy his Alpha and he was abused and tortured. He can no longer purr like the others.
The Story: On the day Lara is fired she goes to take out her trash and someone or something is out in her alley behind her house. It growls at her and has glowing eyes and though she knows Christian has someone following her, she thinks whatever is after her is even more dangerous. When suddenly she is lifted into the air. She wakes up at castle Storm with three stone Gargoyles over her. They tell her they have claimed her, and she can’t return home.
The story is different and interesting. I liked the fact that there is more than one villain (Christian and the demons). Also, I both liked and hated the fact that this is an MMFM (the male gargoyles are with each other as well as with Lara). I liked it because it was super steamy but didn’t like that they have such an established relationship when Lara was brought into it. In some ways, it seems that she was only brought in because she can give them babies, not because they really wanted or needed a female. Also, in some of these monster books the lovemaking is super messy. I mean much more messy than in real life, it seems a bit gross when you are reading it, not sexy like I think its meant to be.
What I do really love about gargoyle books is that every new book or series is pretty unique. There is no real origin story or standard lore for gargoyles like there is for shifters or vampires where every vampire book is similar except for certain aspects like can they go out in the sun and for shifters do their clothes magically disappear and reappear with a shift or do they have to be naked, so they don’t rip their clothes. In this book, the gargoyles don’t shift into human form, they look like stone but just have a really thick skin which can be punctured and is animate.
This is like a standard fantasy novel where the protagonists go on a journey, and they face some difficulties along the way. I really enjoyed the journey and the conflicts. The character development was pretty great. Each of the three gargoyles had distinct personalities and were endearing in their own way. The world building was also very good, there were a lot of different monsters along the way from demons, to vampires, to witches and warlocks, to orcs and elves and even fairies. I also love the fact that this is a standalone reverse harem romance, there just aren’t enough of them with good storylines.

I just read this one about four months ago and accidentally bought the audiobook, not remembering that I already read it. Though I have to admit that I didn’t remember much of this one. I read so much that some books just don’t stick with me that well. It definitely wasn’t as good as I originally thought via audiobook. I would probably give this 4 stars overall.
The audiobook was narrated by Jack Calihan and Eva Caine. Eva has fine voice, but not one of my favorites, she sounds a bit depressed, and you can definitely tell she is reading. Jack Calihan sounds a bit older than I would have liked, and has a voice that would be probably better suited for cartoons than romance audiobooks. He does a good job at different voices, but it gave the guys a more comedic feel than strong romantic heroes. So I definitely think this book is better read hearing voices inside your head than the audio version.

Ok, I lost it laughing
I don't think it's meant to be funny but it was hilarious to me. Being bred? Um no. Especially as he was saying it to his male mate. This is not an mpreg. The mate was male, not intersex, not trans, not fluid, not a species with hidden reproductive organs, not a species that males carry young. Therefore the male can't be bred unless he's being put to stud, which wasn't the case, either. It was on shaky ground to start with but that was the finishing touch for me. And the alpha character, was just an OTT caricature. He needed to "train" his mates? Yeaaaahhh no. I read most anything. Love is love, and the more the merrier. But the bedroom dialogue is just...wonky.
She worked at a law firm. She took info from her ex, who was also her boss. She alluded to him stalking her. That info is still in her flat, and if she stays gone will probably be stolen back by him. Although, we're never told what it was and what she was going to do with it. Also her friend may come by at some point, and without any clue of the danger, make a convenient hostage. Even though, at this point, Lara is pretty much nose deep in the gargoyles while simultaneously denying any relationship them. Plots have been abandoned. Characters are 2 dimensional with only 1 state of being: aroused. And world building is non-existent. We have realms mentioned but not defined. A handful of characters, some very simplistic roles for them, and that's it. Erotica is fine, just label it as such and quit trying to claim it as romance. Romance is wooing, bonding moments, shared activities - outside the bedroom *cough cough*, and love. It can have erotic elements, but it has to have more than that, too.

I received an ARC of Stone Cold in exchange for an honest review. This book was my first gargoyle romance and oh boy did I fall in love! This book gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!
After losing her job and toxic boyfriend, all Lara wants to do is wallow in self pity. A trip to the backyard to take out trash has her getting rescued and taken by a gargoyle.
Viriroz, Garaz, and Cararr are 3 gargoyles who protect the upper world from the lower world. While the love they share is strong, their nest will never be whole unless they find a female to bond with. When Cararr comes home with Lara, all hell breaks loose.
Viriroz is the alpha, and while he immediately claims Lara as “his” he’s very hesitant on letting someone into their nest. Garaz is like a naughty puppy. He loves to disobey and reap in the “punishments” from his alpha. And sweet Cararr is so tender and kind. He just wants to make their nest complete and falls so hard for Lara.
Lara is obviously confused and rightly pissed off. She demands to be taken back only to be refused. Once she learns of their need of a female she’s even more hesitant. However, as she gets to know her new beaus, she sees how much love they have for one another (emotionally and physically). She slowly starts to fall for them one by one.
A trip into another dimension to help Cararr’s health issues ends up forcing them apart. A powerful demon is determined to capture gargoyles for his own use. Lara ends up going toe to toe with a demon to fight for and save her mates.
This book was PHENOMENAL. I’m new to gargoyle romance and I’m fully on board. These 3 are so different, but round each other out so well! I loved how each one of them is unique in their personality. I also loved how we get their backstory and how they came together as a trio. Lara is the perfect addition to their nest. She completes them and I love seeing her realize how in love she is and how she will stop at nothing to protect them.
The spice! THE SPICE IS TOP TIER! Since it’s MMMF, there’s lots of sword crossing, multiple partners, knotting, and fluids. Not to mention the size difference! 🌶️🥵🍆😍

I WANT A GARGOYLE OF MY OWN
I’m absolutely OBSESSED with these characters!! Though, if I had to choose a favorite I’d definitely pick Carrarr lol.
I’ve only read a few gargoyle romance’s and this has to be in my top 3. It was THAT good!
I loved the closeness between everyone, especially the guys. Carrarr, Viriroz, and Garaz already completed each other, but when Lara came into the mix it was even better than they could have imagined. It did take some time for some of them to accept it (*cough* Viriroz *cough* Lara,) but when they did- it was beautiful.
I’m so glad I picked this book up, especially because I found a new author and I’ll, without a doubt be reading more of her books.
Definitely recommend this book if you love purring and possessive gargoyles!

The MMFM pairing(s) aside, I kinda wish that all the characters had a bit more personality and less insta-lust. I mean, for Lara especially, she feels kind of...bland.
Not that I don't read these romances for the smut, as do most people, but before you get us to the bedroom, you have to make us care a little, yeah? Otherwise, it's like watching lumps of clay comingle, if you will, and not really caring where they end up.
And no amount of gargoyles in muscles and manhoods is going to change my mind about that.

Think Gargoyles, the TV show, but spicy.
I dislike the cover, but I decided to overlook it and give this book a try. It started out really well with three male gargoyles in a very affectionate, committed relationship. I liked each individually and had high hopes for when the why choose element was brought in. But the book deteriorated fairly quickly into weird sex-based power dynamics and a sloppy, predictable plot full of far too many coincidences.
Let me start with my biggest disappointment. The three males were in a pre-established relationship, and they needed a female to join them in order to have children. But this left Lara feeling like a fourth wheel, the three of them in a relationship that had a female instead of the four of them in any sort of equal partnership. I really like that the three men were involved and continued to engage with one another even after she arrived, but she was never integrated enough into the dynamic to feel like a true part of it. This was very much reinforced by the weird power relations of sex.
Penetrative sex is referred to as being bred, even between men, and penetrative sex is used as a punishment. Don't get me wrong, everyone who was penetrated seemed to enjoy it. But it is referred to repeatedly as punishment and used as such. These two facts infer, upfront, that penetration is tied to procreation, and there is something shameful about being penetrated. It is shameful to be the receiving partner in the sexual act. Sound familiar?
Plus, there seems to be rigid penetration politics involved. Alpha Viriroz can penetrate everyone. Garaz can penetrate Carrarr and Lara. Carrarr can only penetrate Lara, and Lara penetrates no one. (This isn't just an observation, Garaz says at one point how glad he is to never let Carrarr breed him. It's explicit.) It's of note here that Carrarr is the most female-coded of the three gargoyles.
This ranking of who penetrates and who is penetrated seems to correlate almost exactly with authority in the relationship as a whole. The end result is that one's place in the hierarchy reduces with proximity to femaleness, with being the receiving sexual partner as the proxy signal and being deserving of punishment (shameful) as the reason for one's social position.
Taken together, all of this starts to look a whole lot like familiar patriarchal, misogynistic bullshit that reduces women to sexual toys and broodmares and then deems them of less worth because of it. I want none of this anywhere near my romance books, but especially in a why-choose romance that one reads largely to subvert such puritanical standards. (As a side note, I wonder if the author even knows they did this or if it is so internalized as the norm that they didn't even notice.)
Don't get me wrong, I don't expect every book to be a feminist masterpiece. A lot of what makes dark romances fun is that they play with the very cultural norms feminism fights. As women, these are our reality, and it can be satisfying to engage them from a position of control. (I can shut a book at any moment, and there is a compact between the author and reader, then the heroine is really safe, no matter the current plot point.) But I adamantly dislike books that do so uncritically, that feed the reader raw patriarchal, puritanical mythos as romance. There is nothing subversive here, and I find nothing in female oppression erotic without it.
Plus, a lot of the sex scenes were repetitive (both in the acts and the language used) and defied the limits of human capacity. I know it's fantasy. One always has to suspend their disbelief. But Jacks so threw out any limits to what the female body can accommodate to pull me, the reader, right out of the scenes, the last one especially.
Add all of this to the convenient and often unexplained coincidences and Dues ex Machina solutions to problems, and by the end of the book, much of my hope had simply evaporated, and I was glad to be shot of it.

Add all of this to the convenient and often unexplained coincidences and Dues ex Machina solutions to problems, and by the end of the book, much of my hope had simply evaporated, and I was glad to be shot of it.

This reads like a draft that needs a few more rounds of editing. The characters felt two dimensional (like honestly, give us something beyond bossy, mischievous, sweet, and Mary Sue). Their “development” occurred over the course of 1-2 convos or events before they 180’d on their behavior. The conflict also felt rushed and a little lazy if I’m being honest. I couldn’t stand how the FL did a Stockholm syndrome level opinion swap all because she was a bit hot and bothered after watching the gargoyles a couple times. That should not be enough to be a-okay with kidnapping and being told three monsters wanna keep her and knock her up when that is nowhere in her plans. She was weak willed throughout the book but suddenly became powerful in the final conflict. I’ve definitely read worse books, but this one was a struggle to get through without my eyes rolling out of my head.

What an afternoon read!! I've read many books by this author in the SciFi genre. So looked forward to reading this.
It tells the story of Lara, fired from her job after making some discoveries and ending her relationship with her boss.
It is when she braves throwing out the rubbish, that her world changes. She is taken by a gargoyle - Carrarr. He doesn't speak but you learn more as you delve into this book. Lara discovers there is more to her world than she realised. We then meet Viriroz, an alpha gargoyle, along with another - Garaz. The 3 fight demons and other nasties, keeping Lara's previous world safe.
There is much that needs to be fixed, healed and eventually allow for a future. It is one wild adventure with its share of bad guys. One, Lara knew all too well. And I did have my suspicions, the further into the book I got. :) I did receive an arc copy, that I'm only to happy to review. Now I can look forward to more in this world and learning what happens to those other characters. :)

Who knew taking out the trash would take Laras life into spin, out of a job and her luck she finds herself with 3 gargoyle protectors who are mated to ne another- Carrarr, Garaz and Viiriroz. the steamy hot scenes, action, drama and more keep you hooked and begging for more! my first by the author and ill be back for more! (MMMF romance ).

Repetitive caveman stuff
I really wanted to like this. But the I swear the lines we're repetitive, it was maddening! I'm ur alpha, you won't get my knot, you are mine. I like these things, but seriously less is more. The entire read is this back and fourth. The alpha is kinda a jerk, and our H knows it. Yet even with her little push backs, shes wet? Alk the time. Boring! Honestly, this whole storyline was ridiculous and at 78% I was just over it.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first by this author and I will definitely be picking up more. Lara is a human woman who lost her job, and is picked up by a gargoyle while putting out the trash. This is a MMMF story with lots of spice 🌶️ in it. I enjoyed how each male gargoyle has their own personality and how Lara meshes with each of them. The story was good as well and I feel that the characters did all progress as it goes along. Carrarr is a sweet cinnamon roll, Garaz is the hot head, and then Viriroz is the alpha strong and guarded one. They each learn to love and let Lara in, though they were together at the start of the story. Honestly such a good read, you won’t be sorry to pick it up.

Smexy Smutty Gargoyle Romance
I don’t know when I’m going to learn my lesson but lately I’ve been reading standalones romances and getting super sad when they end in one book. This is one of those books, I adored all the characters Carrar being favorite and wasn’t ready to let him or ANY of the other characters go. In terms of safety this book is a very safe read, no ow problems, just some very dominating but respectful alphas. In terms of smutiness this book is heavy on it, we are talking smut for days and explicit mm scenes. Which I’m very picky with my MM, but this one didn’t make me really jelly. The men very clearly cared for the fmc as much as they did one another and that pacified me, even though they already had relationship built with one another.
I do wish this book was a two part series because I felt like it could have been stretched out into multiple parts. I feel like there were certain things that could have been delved into like Garaz’s former abusive roost. I know the fmc was the men’s heart mate but were the men also fated to be together? Because how did Garaz end in a terrible roost if that’s the case? It also was a little fast burn due to the fmc accepting everything quite fast, but boy was it good. I could have read more with these characters but I am excited to ready the next one with fmc’s friend Ivy. All in all a really good smutty read.

Garaz, Viriroz and Carrarr are the Gargoyle Knights of the Winged Order. These are powerful monsters with a dangerous job to do, protecting the human world from the things that slither in the dark, but they need a final female mate to complete their roost and produce their heirs.
Lara was simply in the wrong place at the right time on the night Carrarr took her from her home. Now that Lara is in the roost she is left with a decision. Stay with the gargoyles and produce heirs or reject their claim and watch the world perish. Gargoyles strength comes from mating, although Garaz, Viriroz and Carrarr mate often they still need a willing human female to agree to be their mate.
This book was Uber spicy and had a lot of character growth and development. Lara was already down on her luck not sure what her next move would be and the Gargoyles were dealing with their own inner turmoil within their roost. It was a learning experience for all involved and it wasn't until they realized that they needed each other did they find the motivation to accept being mates.
This book ends on a HEA but it did introduce the characters in the next book who were also dealing with problems within their roost as well.

This is absolutely filthy and the writing isn’t the best, but the lore is solid and the overlaying plot for the three book series is interesting. There could have been more and better angst, more chemistry not related to fated mates, and better sub/dom dynamics, but the foundation is there.

Lara (h) finds herself kidnapped, or rescued depending on your perspective, by gargoyle Cararr (H) and taken to Castle Storm, the gargoyle roost he shares with his gargoyle roost mates Garaz (H) and alpha Viriroz (H). She has no intention of staying and being their anything, but finds herself drawn to three gargoyles as she get sto know them and their love for one another. Ultra-hot and steamy MMMF action, with a lot of MMM, knotting, crossed swords. There was a lot of action, drama, and adventure, with demons, witches, different realms, magic, werewolves and more.

I loved Lara so much! She’s such a strong and brave woman. And I loved that she wouldn’t let any hardships bring her down. Even more, she’s so caring, compassionate and accepting. And she’s not afraid to stand up for herself. Yup, she’s quite stubborn, feisty and so awesome!
And then we have the three Knights of the Winged Order - three gargoyles who’ve been protecting the human world from all the nightmares lurking in the dark. Those three were so different and, yet, fit so perfectly together. Viriroz - the Alpha of the roost - is so bossy, growly, grumpy, possessive, domineering and closed-off. Garaz - the hot head, the one always eager to mate, who loves human technology and is never hesitating to challenge their Alpha and fight for what’s right. And Carrarr - the sweet, gentle, vicious and protective cinnamon roll. This roost of gargoyles are three absolutely magnificent, strong and fiercely protective males and I adored every single one of them so, so much!
I loved everything that happened between Lara, Carrarr, Garaz and Viriroz. Lara’s day is not going well - she breaks up with her boyfriend and then gets fired from her job. And one wrong turn in a dark alley, gets her swept off to the Between with three monsters claiming she’s the one female to complete their roost. They definitely didn’t start on the right foot, but from the moment they met, the attraction between the four was undeniable, even though some of them were too stubborn to admit it. And their banters were so much fun to read. I loved that the three males were so patient and honorable, giving Lara the time to choose to stay with them or leave. But I also loved their determination to prove to her that being with them is the right place for her. And I loved Lara for managing to see beyond their “monstrous” appearance and discover and accept the amazing males they truly are. And the spice… Oh, the spice was so good!!! Viriroz, Garaz and Carrarr were so passionate, irresistible and insatiable together. And when Lara finally gave in to the undeniable need for her three mates, oh… I was all in for the passionate, knotty and naughty ride. Their road to happiness was not an easy one and all had to deal with a lot to keep the roost whole, but after everything they went through, they more than deserved to find love and acceptance with each other!
In addition, the worldbuilding and the storyline were spectacular! I loved that we got to explore all the different worlds and meet so many creatures and monsters. And they were so well and vividly written, I felt like I was right by the main characters’ side. Even more, the suspense, everything that was happening with the gargoyles, the unexpected turns of events and the dangerous quest to save Carrarr kept me glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, Stone Cold is a phenomenal start of the series! It’s filled with danger, action, violence, twists, suspense, humor, drama, blazing hot passion and amazing characters!

This was a total sweet monstery steamy adorable stoney gargoyle puddle of happiness and I was totally here for it! 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘥 is a polyamorous romance featuring 3 large gargoyles and one human female who they can't help but want to chase. And sniff. And lick. And... you get the point. ;) It was such an easy read with a full story and world building. But with that steamy monstery smut that keeps you flipping through the pages for the next encounter! I adored how all 3 gargoyles were so unique in their personalities. Cararr is like this sweet puppy dog cuddle bug, yer a total horny beast. And well, Garaz is also a total horny beast, but also this flirty bad boy who's also a bit scarred from his past. And then there's the alpha, Viriroz. Who I'm a total simp for. He's the typical emotionally constipated, demanding, cold, hero you can't help but obsess over. He's protective and large and holds himself back, and almost seems like a bossy d*ck. Of course, as everyone grows closer, we see more to him and just fall head over heels in love. I've discovered I'm a total mess for polyamorous relationships with a main alpha like this. (Finley Fenn's 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘳𝘤𝘴 features an alpha hero like this and I loved it!) So the scene when Viriroz and Lara are alone, looking for their mates, and they make love for the first time. Well, it was the best thing ever. Moments like these between the alpha who acts like they don't want another mate (or is actively reproachful towards them) but then you see how much they actually want them! And you see all the warmth and love... they give me the fuzzies! This was a really enjoyable read and I found it was easy to read without wanting to stop! I adore how there was unique relationships between each person. They all had a connection and love for one another. Yet in some respects Cararr and Garaz had a special connection that Viriroz and Lara didn't have with them. And (surprise surprise!) Viriroz and Lara had a special connection the other two didn't! So many unique dynamics but interconnected. I loved it!

Oh. My. God. 🥵
What can I say about Stone Cold? Many, many MMM scenes. DELICIOUS MMM scenes. Knotting. So much knotting. World building. Plot line. Fated mates. HEA. A true love story.
Stone Cold follows the story of three mated Gargoyles- Viriroz (the alpha), Carrarr, and Garaz (both mates), who make up the Storm roost. These three gargoyles help to protect both the lower world and the upper world from demons. It’s their full time job.
Viriroz is a very stern alpha, while Garaz is more of an insolent “submissive”, who tests Viriroz intentionally to rile him up, and last we have my favorite of the three, Carrarr. Carrarr was injured in battle and has been left mute. Though he can’t speak, his actions always show what he’s thinking. I’m also obsessed with his obsession with baths. He’s such a cute little character (actually huge as he’s over seven feet tall), one I absolutely loved reading about, and one I rooted for all the way until he was made better.
My favorite little boy decided to take our female lead, Lara, back to Castle Storm with the intention of making her their final mate, the one to complete their roost. Watching Lara’s feeling grow for each one of them made me fall for them as well. I loved the role she played in their lives and how she acted differently with each one based on their personalities - she was a bratty submissive to Viriroz, a playful partner to Garaz, and a soothing, loving mate to Carrarr. Their dynamic was so infectious, I am utterly jealous of her.
This was my first read with multiple men that actually played with one another, as well as the woman, and I think I’ve found my new obsession.
I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series. I’ll be counting down the days.

This was my first HB Jacks book, and it didn't disappoint, I will definitely read another by her. My only grievance is one of the gargoyles constantly needing to "train" her like she was some kind of pet. Maybe it was just the word train that grated me, I'm not quite sure, lol. Other than that, it was a fantastic fast-paced read.
I absolutely love sweet horny cinnamon roll Carrarr. He was so sweet to Lara, saving her, cuddling her, and overall being gentle and kind. I enjoyed that she never treated him differently despite his injuries and his inability to talk for most of the book. I need to get myself a gargoyle who can use his tongue the way Carrarr can 😏🥵 Daddy... I mean Daddy.
Garaz is the hot head of the pack. He was the most unpredictable of the bunch. I liked that he never backed down and always fought for what was right, even if the others didn't agree with him. I absolutely loved his commitment, love, and loyalty to Carrarr above anyone else.
Now Grumpy set in his way Viriroz is the head honcho, mister Alpha Gargoyle. He is in charge of keeping the roost safe from harm. While I understood his job and whatnot. He wasn't my favorite character. He needs to loosen up a bit and realize that technology isn't evil 🙄. Come out of the dark ages, muh man!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. That DP scene at the end was like daaaaaaaaaaang 🥵🥵🥵 I didn't know we were going to be blessed with something like that. I liked how each Gargoyle had their own personality; they were so different, yet they all came together perfectly. And Lara; such a strong caring female, she completed their roost and helped them through the healing each one of them needed. I can't wait to read the second one.

01.29.2023: I got a copy for an ARC read and immediately jumped in! The beginning of it was mmm blah, but it needed to happen as it gives you a little insight into why our MFC is the way she is, and some of it was dry but at the same time, it was needed to see where she is standing mentally.
02.01.2023: Okay, so I finished, I can say all around this was an interesting and entertaining story. There were however things I didn't like, and I will lay those out after I give you a rundown of the whole thing.
- We start off with Lara and her getting fired, then she is hanging out at her house waiting for her friend Ivy to show up when she realizes she needs to take the trash out. While doing a simple mundane task she is taken after something in the shadows is spying on her. When she wakes up she is in the company of Gargoyles, three of them to be exact and they are all mated to one another. (I forget to chat about that from chapter 2) anywho, she freaks out rightfully so, and then throughout the story, she gets a little show. The three men start mating on one another, this was my first MMMF romance and I can say I liked it and am searching for more stories in this area. Further into the book, like chapters further we are told about a witch that can save one of the MMC from demonic possession. It was really cute, and he is happily saved, right after that two of the MMC's are kidnapped while the Alpha is out looking for them and Lara is being hunted by a rogue werewolf.
- After all of that, they are reunited oh wait! There is a sword, one that only gargoyles can use but somehow Lara can do it. Idk, anyways she uses this sword and then they are all saved. They head to the witch's house again, where Lara realizes her hair is blue.
Now, onto the things that didn't hit my fancy, the sexual language was not for me, I found it overwhelming and a bit mmmm much at times. It was mainly the words used in reference to certain areas. Aside from that parts of the writing I didn't like, there were a lot of descriptive words then period, and then another, and then one more before a sentence, but that being said, that is a personal pet peeve so yea does what you will that. And the lapsing of information, one page said one thing then a few paragraphs later that statement was contradicted. It was rather confusing and slightly frustrating.
But all in all, I liked it, the story was fun, the spice was good, and the whole of the character-building was fantastic.
General reading rate: Three and a half out of five (But in good reads it will be marked with a four-star.)
Spice rate: Three and a half out of five (In good reads it will be marked a three only due to my personal cringing at times.)
Basically what I am saying is, go ahead and get on Kindle, get yourself a copy, and enjoy the gargoyle life! Well, that is when it is released on amazon.com on February 7th, 2023!

The cover is misleading as it is not one gargoyle but three males who mate with a female. A M/M/M/F romance, if you will.
In this book, there are three realms – gargoyles exist in the middle world protecting the upper from the demons below. Each gargoyle roost has three males (an alpha and two others) to one female, and they all enjoy carnal knowledge of each other in terrifically graphic detail.
There were some drawbacks to this book – mostly light or conflicting storytelling and some too convenient plot points (the bad ex-boyfriend is actually a demon; a magical cellphone that can unlock prison cages – used once all three gargoyles are captured, but not initially one only one is caged; a magic sword that is stored in a box and opened for, then wielded by, our FMC, taking deus ex machina to a literal level that is almost cringe-worthy).
But these failings are made up by filthy gargoyle sex. We get M/M/M sex, M/M, M/F, and everyone in on the fun. My only complaint about the sex is that certain appendages are described as incredibly big - not unusual for monster romance - but when a knot (FYI: a feature that is often a part of monster genitalia, usually a nub on top of the thrusting bits) is described as the size of a melon, it made me a wee bit nervous. I mean, I know people push out 12lb babies, but that’s on the way down and out not up and in. I think a mango or large grapefruit would be a better fit than a melon, no? Especially when she gets railed by two gargoyles at once. I was worried about Lara’s pelvic floor most of the time.

Sadly it took me a bit to get into this book but when I did it was a fun ride!!
There is the upper world (us on earth) the between (where the gargoyles live) and then the underworld (where the Desmond are) I think. Actually isn’t there another one, yes there is a lower world which is above the between but below the upper world. Or something. Anyway FL is in danger and so gets ‘rescued’ by her mate gargoyle, problem is he has been injured and can’t speak so can’t explain that she is their mate. The gargoyles have a roost which is 3 males and 1 female. You get ‘bred’ when they have sex and insert their knot, normal sex doesn’t result in pregnancies? And they talk about the males being bred but I don’t think they can have babies, only human females. So maybe that’s just sex talk? I know it’s all complicated!!
The book is basically about getting the female to become part of the roost, defeat demons and heal the injured gargoyle. It’s part of a series but it completes all storyline’s in this book. There is a bit of expected smut and you need to use your imagination a lot to make sense of it all but it was well written and the characters were fun. You don’t get much development on any of the character gargoyles, the alpha is hiding things and the elf talks to him about it but it never comes out. And why is Garraz so self destructive? You get told about his part roost but not much more. And if she is so important to the roost why is the alpha so dismissive of her in the beginning?
Still a decent read. My first monster gargoyles book, was well worth the read!!

Lara, Viriroz, Garak, and Carrarr
Rescued from a dangerous situation, Lara finds herself in a stone castle, at the mercy of three rather virile looking gargoyles. When their alpha Viriroz claims her for their own, she’s not sure whether to be flattered or annoyed, but something draws her towards them all.
Lara might be currently unemployed, and rather fearful of her ex for a number of reasons, but she can’t figure out why she feels so safe around volatile Viriroz, wounded Carrarr, and the gregarious Garak. After all, aren’t they monsters?
This was a fun and rather steamy paranormal romance, with one human female (who is strong in her own right), and three gargoyle mates. It’s a very spicy read, with MM and MMF/MFM scenes, so consider yourself warned, but there is an entertaining story behind all the steam.
Set in a world where the gargoyles fight off demons, we find Viriroz and his mates, dealing with a fractured roost (gargoyle mating group). Carrarr is still dealing with wounds and secrets, Garak has a horrendous past, and Viriroz shoulders everything on his large frame. They desperately need Lara and her soothing influence.
I enjoyed the book, and am looking forward to seeing what happens with Lara’s friend Ivy next, and seeing how the gargoyles deal with the danger that they discovered in this book.
It’s an entertaining read, fans of the author(s) will enjoy it, as will other RH PNR/Fantasy lovers.
Lara, Viriroz, Garak, and Carrarr
Rescued from a dangerous situation, Lara finds herself in a stone castle, at the mercy of three rather virile looking gargoyles. When their alpha Viriroz claims her for their own, she’s not sure whether to be flattered or annoyed, but something draws her towards them all.
Lara might be currently unemployed, and rather fearful of her ex for a number of reasons, but she can’t figure out why she feels so safe around volatile Viriroz, wounded Carrarr, and the gregarious Garak. After all, aren’t they monsters?
This was a fun and rather steamy paranormal romance, with one human female (who is strong in her own right), and three gargoyle mates. It’s a very spicy read, with MM and MMF/MFM scenes, so consider yourself warned, but there is an entertaining story behind all the steam.
Set in a world where the gargoyles fight off demons, we find Viriroz and his mates, dealing with a fractured roost (gargoyle mating group). Carrarr is still dealing with wounds and secrets, Garak has a horrendous past, and Viriroz shoulders everything on his large frame. They desperately need Lara and her soothing influence.
I enjoyed the book, and am looking forward to seeing what happens with Lara’s friend Ivy next, and seeing how the gargoyles deal with the danger that they discovered in this book.
It’s an entertaining read, fans of the author(s) will enjoy it, as will other RH PNR/Fantasy lovers.

Knotty gargoyles!!!!! There's knotty gargoyles!!!!! Three 3 of them!!!!!
Lara ain't having a great time following finding out some dirt on her big time icky ex and so she's forced out of a job and doesn't have a lot to look forward to.
Garaz is having a tough time dealing with his stubborn alpha (Viriroz) and sick mate (Carrarr).
These struggles come to some sort of a head when Carrarr rescues Lara and she wakes up surrounded by 3 beefy, hulking, massive gargoyles.
Are you swooning? Cause I'm swooning. Lara wasn't. Lara kinda freaked out, rightfully so.
Viriroz immediately claims her. But not like that. Don't worry, it's not that kind of book. But she does eventually get claimed if you know what I mean.
And it's delicious, literally. And then she gets claimed some more. And some more. And more.
Lara is the roosts missing piece, Carrarr felt that in his body when he saved her and she proves repeatedly that he was not wrong. Her determination to help Carrarr with his sickness and save her new found mates amidst all the chaos that's happening is wonderful.
Carrarr receives the help he needs and the group takes down a major threat to their world in this adventure.
It's a delicious tale of mates and knots and what they'll do for each other and for the benefit of everyone.

Gargoyle MMF smut. Basic start to a series, that apart from a mild desire to see if the other characters mentioned are OK and survive the bad guys, doesn't really deliver on the smut or the romance.
There is a distinct lack of character development and I was often confused with small contradictions about character desires or internal thoughts. I would reread lines thinking I had missed what would justify a change in internal motivations, but there was never any cause.
The m/m is not downplayed but sometimes the intimate language was odd ie. 'dark passage' 🤭🤔. The kink wasn't very clear. It was a bit confusing over what was considered a punishment. No spanking, or O denial, or forced multiple O's. But taking a knot was considered punishment, yet everyone wanted it? 🤔 so I was confused as I thought that was the point of this type of smut. 🤷♀️ In the end, it had a slightly watery feel for a kink with mmf alpha dynamics, especially as there were no m/f scenes described. These usually contribute to a vanillaish feel but they weren't there at all.

Lara has been fired after her breakup, and when she goes to confront what surely must be her ex lurking in the dark, she doesn’t expect to be swept up by a huge gargoyle. Brought back to their home, she learns that the three large gargoyle males are all mates… and she’s their human female mate to complete their roost and produce their heirs. While they try and convince her that she’s theirs, the three of them also fight to protect the human world from threats, and with someone hunting gargoyles, Lara will have to decide if she wants to stay with them and be theirs or go back to life without these males.
Yeah, we all saw where this was going. I enjoyed the spice – we get the three males together multiple times before she’s even a part of their roost, so expect MMM spiciness as well as MMMF which was all well done so no complaints here. The plot of the monster hunter and demons felt like it was thrown in there so it wasn’t just straight up smut, which took me out of the story when it made an appearance, but it wasn’t bad. I just wanted a more well rounded plot if it’s going to be there. I did enjoy the romance and the way that she becomes one of theirs, but otherwise this book was just okay.

Huh.
So typically I don't read books with MMMF pairings where they're all together sexually. I don't mind the bisexual aspect of it once in a while but I don't usually go looking for this pairing, however I'm a huge fan of the reverse harem trope and the fact that this is a paranormal book as well I decided to read it anyway. I will admit there is a lot of couplings with the three males through out this series but the story concept and plot was just so good and so well written that I just kept reading and it was really well done. Carrarr was a sweetheart who had a rough time of it, Garaz was the troublemaker who has a heart of gold and good intentions, and Viriroz was the Alpha leader who just wanted to care for his roost. Lara was the sassy female who wasn't afriad to stand up to them and for them. The villains of the story were well written and interesting and this book was filled to the brim with spice, angst, suspense, action and humour as well as wholesome moments and sassy side characters. I actually really enjoyed this book.
