Isla (h) works as a virtual assistant for a reclusive artist, Hudson (H), whom she’s never met in person. She’s finally had enough of his rude emails and decides to see him in person to let him have it and tender her resignation. Bear shifter Hudson is shocked when the fiery Isla shows up at his door and even more so to scent her as his mate. He knows that he has work cut out for him to convince her they’re meant to be together. Poor Hudson is so bad at communicating things and just really sticks his paw in it. Lovely hot and steamy fated mates shifter quickie with a bit of relationship drama.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
Hudson is a recluse bear shifter who creates beautiful sculptures and art. He has a tragic history, both his parents and sister were murdered in their home, Hudson was saved because he had snuck out to work on an art project at school. His pack didn’t believe him and actually accused him of the murders, he was just a teenager when they labeled him a monster. As an adult, in his mind he is a monster and does not deserve love or anything good. He never got a chance to grieve properly and the pack never investigated who murdered his family. He leaves his pack and now lives with a different pack that has lots of loners like him and some criminals. He has very little interaction with the outside world or people, except his virtual personal assistant, Isla.
Isla hates her job and has complicated feelings for her boss Hudson. He is a jerk and super demanding. He sends a ton of emails everyday asking for ridiculous things. Plus they usually are condescending and rude. She wants to quit but needs the job so she sucks it up. Although, she does love their back and forth and looks forward to the little ding every time a new email hits her inbox. The love/hate is driving her mad.
Hudson loves riling up his assistant, he loves her sass and snark, something about it turns him on and he finds himself sending more and more emails. When she doesn’t respond to several email he sends one that is very rude and insulting of her work. Isla has had enough she’s going to quit this time for real. She drives up to his cabin and confronts him. He doesn’t except her resignation and instead tells her she is his mate and that he is a bear shifter. He shows her his bear and asks her to stay.
The attraction and chemistry these two have is off the charts. Sparks definitely fly when they verbally spar. Example:
“The full moon is tomorrow. You can stay until then. I’ll bite you, and we’ll be mated then.”
“I’m a goldfish from Mars,” I reply, and he stares at me like I’m crazy.
“What?”
“Oh, I thought we were just saying crazy things that mean nothing to no one.”
They talk and he tells her about his family and she tells him he is not a monster and his pack should have had his back. Eventually attraction wins and they have their first time together and he bites her mating them. Lots of sexy times for a couple of days but them Hudson starts to feel a bit of panic about the criminals in his pack hurting Isla. He doesn’t handle it well and asks her to leave, he’s thinking he’s protecting her, she thinks he’s rejecting her now that he had sex with her.
When she doesn’t answer his email and calls he goes to her and tries to explain his feelings and why he sent her away. Poor man is so traumatized from his families death that he feels like he can’t protect Isla from outside dangers and himself. She reminds him he is not a monster and that she loves him. I love yous, more hot sexy times and epilogue five years later with them living in a good shifter community and Isla pregnant with their second son.
There was a little less emphasis on the shifter/mate traditional aspects more on Hudson’s trauma and Isla’s love and acceptance and Hudson believing he was worthy.

This was an enemies to lovers shifter romance.
I enjoyed this steamy sweet quick read romance. The backstory for the characters made them relatable.

A quick but good read with a grumpy boss and his virtual assistant he likes to torment for no reason other than pushing all her buttons 😊Isla is sweet with a sassy mouth, if you look up the word feisty you will her picture there ,working a grump, rude boss and she tells herself daily she is going to quit well he pushed her too far at six months she plans on putting he resignation. Hudson sexy as all get out grumpy bear a reclusive artist enjoys pushing his assistant button just to get a get under her skin but for him it is all in good fun and maybe because she just may be his mate. The back and forth with these two will have you laughing so hard, thinking get together just get it out of their system after being pushed too much she heads to his home to inform in person she quit the moment her scent hit him he knows definitely the little human is his mate meaning she is the reason he breaths. He realizes he is going to have to do some begging to win his girl since he has only shown her how much of a jerk, he can be but will she be willing to give him a chance a real chance, will she accept his nice guy or think it is an act, will she accept the both he and his bear, and can they find their own happiness along the journey.

DELIGHTFUL! At the start of the story, I enjoyed the back and forth between Isla and Hudson. He's a sculptor, and she works as his virtual assistant. They're written sparring is so funny - witty and biting. He knows he's antagonizing her, like a little boy who pulls on the little girl's pigtails, but he can't seem to help himself. I loved reading the volleying back and forth between them. When he pushes her too far & she comes over in person to quit, his bear immediately recognizes Isla as their mate. Uh oh. She's also human and knows nothing about the shifter world.
Instead of hiding it, Hudson goes for broke and explain to Isla they're fated mates. While she initially does not believe him, she comes around to it. However, she doesn't accept their relationship right away. She makes him work for it. Honestly, my favorite part of this book is their conversation, their cheesy banter, and their vulnerability. Each one has been hurt deeply so it's hard to trust that someone could love them.
Classic Alder, the smexy scenes are intense, and I had to fan myself. Whew! Their epilogue was sweet to read.

This is a fast-paced sweet and steamy fated mate novella featuring a grumpy bear shifter and a sweet but sassy human mate. Hudson is a bit of a reclusive artist that loves to banter with his virtual assistant, Isla. He drives her crazy with his bossy emails. One day, he pushes her too far, and she goes to his home to quit in-person. Hudson realizes in that moment she is his mate — the most precious thing in the world to him. Yet he’s been an absolute jerk this entire time, and now has to convince her he’s worth loving. Hudson didn’t grovel quite as much as I would have preferred, but this was a short story. The spice was wonderful and of course the tension was electric. So good with a great HEA!

Ooh! I loved this storyline! You could feel the attraction getting ready to burst free from the messages he sent to her everyday regarding work.
Hudson was a grumpy loner Bear shifter but his highlight of the day was sending his virtual assistant sarcastic instructions to get a bite out of her. For some reason he loved her replies and although he wouldn’t accept it from anyone else, he loved it when she took the bait.
Isla was getting sick of her boss’s sarcastic messages and decided to confront him, but when she did and Hudson came face to face with her that’s when the fun began!

This book focuses on Hudson and Isla. Hudson is a reclusive artist that had a tragic event happen in his life that shaped how he views himself and lives his life. Isla has been working as Hudson’s virtual assistant for the last year. The two of them definitely go out of their way to push each other’s buttons through email until Isla finally has enough and decides to show up at his house to quit in person. When she arrives, Hudson finally discovers who Isla is to him. He knows right away that she is his mate but they have to work through some things before they are able to get their happily ever after. This was a great story and a great addition to the series!

I loved Bite Me. Hudson was a terrible boss and Isla was going to tell him so until he suddenly starts talking about mates and forever. Where did that crime from and what the heck is a shifter? Isla can’t deny the pull and Hudson is pretty convincing until he sends her away. Now Hudson has to correct his mistakes and make Isla realize the truth. This was such a great story and I just loved the characters. I loved how it played into Snow’s story. I can’t wait for Hattie’s story. I have a feeling I know who her mates are. I would definitely recommend this book.

Is it love or is it hate? Isla swears she hates her boss Hudson but when she finally meets him, is it hate or something else? I enjoyed this steamy, insta-love story. Of course Hudson's bear recognizes his fated mate instantly but Isla will need a little convincing that they are really meant to be. With the mating moon, she doesn't have a chance to resist, but why would she want to? Hattie and Isla are the best of friends so she doesn't leave her behind which means Hattie is due for a book of her own. I am looking forward to it.

This was a fantastic story, so well written and fun. Isla was Hudson’s virtual assistant and they had never met in person. One day she had had enough of his rude emails and drove to see him in person to tell him she quit! Hudson loved his banter with Isla and didn’t know why he was so drawn to her. When she arrived at his house determined to quit his bear soon told his she was his mate! Now he had to show her they were meant to be. Sweet, steamy, fun story with amazing chemistry, love, laughter, a little misunderstanding and a beautiful HEA.

This was a great fated mates romance. It was a short story that had a good flow. I loved the beginning with the emails back and forth between Hudson and Isla, it created some great tension between them and it led to amazing chemistry when they met.
I liked that the story was connected to the “Once Upon a Shifter” series and it was great to have that. I hope that the future will bring a story for Hattie because I’m curious about her.

Isla has had it with Hudson, he is rude and just an all around jerk. If she could find a new job she would leave this one in a heart beat. One day she decides to track him down give him a piece of her mind and quit. The man she meets is no where near the jerk she is used to.

I looooved reading this novella. I stopped everything I was doing to read this novella in one sitting, and I wasn't disappointed with the story. It's a great novella with great spicy scenes, great characters and an amazing plot. If you love bear shifter romances, you will most definitely love this novella. The Skye Alder duo really makes a great job with these novellas.

Oh man this book had be laughing and needing some water too! I loved Hudon and Isla together. The banter and tension between these two was fantastics. I really like the connection and chemistry. There is a little bit of drama due to miscommunication/misunderstanding but Hudson won't let his mate get away so easily. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for more soon!.

The title got me on this one. The adversary feeling between these two reminded me of a boy pulling thr pigtails of the girl he liked. Funny part is both cannot help but push the others buttons. Until it goes too far. Can they save what could be their happily ever after?

Skye's books are always a good, fun, short read. This one was about a bear shifter (Hudson) who is an artist and his virtual assistant (Isla). It is a bit of enemies to lovers because they basically antagonize one another virtually. When Isla has finally had enough, she goes to meet him in person and plans to quit, but finds that she can't. Hudson is suddenly doing everything to keep her from leaving because once he catches her scent, he realizes she is his mate.

Another incredible read by the amazing Skye Alder. You will fall in love with Hudson, the unbearable bear shifter, and as he continues to banter with his personal assistant Isla, these two have the greatest story. Im a huge fan of her shifter stories, and these two got the perfect happily ever after. I always look forward to every story this author writes.

I really liked this story. Isla is Hudson's sassy virtual assistant but sometimes Hudson goes to far with his e-mails and calls. When Isla has had enough she shows up to Hudson's house to let him know she quits, never realizing that Hudson, as a bear shifter, just realized Isla is his mate. I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. I liked this romance with it's opposites to fated mates storyline. Isla works for Hudson while tolerating his biting attitude. When she has had enough of it, she goes to call it quits. Hudson finds himself back pedaling once he meets her face to face. This is a short romance, but it has humor, passion and finally love

Hudson and Isla always just communicated per Email. Now Isla has enough of her bossy, arrogant and demanding boss. Hudson is a reclusive bear shifter and when he finally meets Isla sparks fly. Instalove, fated mates, sweet, romantic , steamy and safe with a sweet HEA 😍😍😍😍 I really loved the banter between these two 🥰🥰

This has it all - a snarky heroine, a gruff hero and just enough angst to want you to smack the hero upside the head. Quick read but one you don't want to stop.

just a bite
This was a good quick read. I would have preferred more towards the end involving the remake and best friend of our FMC because the next steps heavily involved her. I hope we get her book as well.

This was a fun, quick read. Isla is Hudson's virtual assistant. He is an artist and a super grumpy bear shifter. She finally decides to quit after one too many rude emails but wants to do it in person. Once he gets around her, he realized she is his mate but he has a lot of making up to do!
