Award-winning and bestselling author and physician Jillian David quickly writes then slowly edits medical romance, paranormal romance, and romantic suspense books. She loves to use medical situations and characters to drive drama in her books. Her favorite cell is the platelet and her least-favorite organ is the pancreas. She fully believes that curse words, when appropriately deployed during surgery, are hemostatic. Which also explains why no book of hers will ever bleed out...
According to multiple starred reviews, Jillian's books cause sleep deprivation and a drop in productivity, as well as visceral responses from her vivid descriptions -- side effects which might qualify as a breach of her Hippocratic Oath to 'do no harm.'

“Listen to me, Britt. I am falling in love with you. Sweets, I am no one. I come from nothing. I have no future to offer. No kids. No assurance of sanity down the road. It’s a horrible deal, and one I could never ask of anyone, much less someone as wonderful as you.” - Alfred ‘Red’ Newman
Everyone loves the good old-fashioned trope "Boy meets girl. Girl is in danger. Boy must protect girl. They fall in love." - yours truly is no exception.
But what happens when the Girl in the above equation just doesn't wish to comply with the Boy's careful plans for her survival - because she has a life, and a degree to get?
Meet Britt McNeill, Kiera's little sister - the Energizer Bunny, if it had a human form. And studied fashion. Britt has always thought she was considered the disappointment of the family, so after Brady and her mom passed away, she swore she would get her degree and make the McNeills proud, show them she's finally matured. Enter Red, the Morpheus Squad member responsible for her safety from Beau Lequire. He has his hands full with her - as stated multiple times in the previous books, but now it's time for us to completely witness it, in all its glory. He'll have to speed up his... everything, if he is to not only catch up to Britt, but also keep her out of harm's way, preferably without her knowledge of the latter. What could possibly go wrong?
Not gonna lie, the minute I received an email for this book, I screamed louder than a siren during heavy traffic! I had been waiting for Red's turn "patiently", and the story did not disappoint! The pace reall threw me for a loop this time around, courtesy of Britt and her inability to stay in one place - or instantly cooperate with those trying to protect her. It's one thing to know that a crazy, power-hungry, unhinged dude is after the female lead - it's another to see said female lead refuse to go on the run, because she has to finish school, no matter what.
I admit it got on my nerves a bit at the end, mainly because the woman wanting to get her life on track was understandable - and it showed she had guts - but the club scene felt a bit too much. All for ensuring your future, girl, but going out, in a crowded environment, testing your protector like this? Not a smart choice. (not that I'm complaining, given the dance scene that blew me off my chair)
Red was a delight to read. The poor sweetie had so many things going wrong during this mission, and he was hard-pressed to improvise every step of the way, with only one person till almost the end of it to lend a hand. He was running on fumes and it showed. I just wanted to wrap him in a blanket and protect him from the harsh, cruel world. Him being a synesthete may have factored a bit, too. I'm a synesthete myself - although I translate sight and smell into colors - and I completely felt for his struggles. The representation was actually quite accurate, and it hurt even more, seeing him having to deal with all the crap thrown his way.
As a matter of fact, the synesthesia really added to the problem with the Virus in his case, and I liked where he was heading when it'd been too long without his shot. Every Morpheus member has special abilities, as we've seen so far, and they experience the insanity bouts differently. For Red, the fact that without the antidote his senses got even better, resulting in a combo of all of them together exploding in his mind, threatening to drive him to a monstrous state from overload, was a terrifying feature, and piled on the danger of the book - as if Lequire wasn't enough... Sensory overloard is already a serious enough problem for a synesthete who doesn't have an enhancing but deadly virus in their blood. Combining the two must have been maddening!
Now that Phase One is complete - OMG, we're getting a Phase Two, my heart is not ready for this! - I can't wait to see how the team will work around the final events of the book to finally beat their nemesis. All I know is that I'll be cheering for them all the way! Hunt, go get your son and his model... uuuh... co-victim, I guess? Remains to be seen what she'll become, but I'm hoping!
“I’m saying I don’t want to give up yet. You … I realized how much you mean to me. I want us to try. That is, if you want to.” - Britt McNeill

Book three in this author’s Project Morpheus series, it’s not necessary to read the previous books, but it does have an ongoing story, so reading in order will give you the full picture.
Red (Alfred) Newman is part of a group of soldiers that were given a secret drug to enhance their abilities. Red is a former special forces tracker, so he’s ideal to track the latest pawn in Beau’s revenge on the Morpheus team! The downside to the drug, that the team were given was the fact Red can’t turn down his ability (making him a grumpy soldier)
Britt is an aspiring fashion designer, college is just the way of making her parents proud, but it’s fashion that’s her passion. She’s a smart cookie as well, she can’t put her finger on what’s not right with the new student in her fashion class, but she’s going to find out….
And we can’t forget Beau, he’s our villain in this story. I won’t give anything else away, but he’s ramping his game up to repay the group of super soldiers!
The story moves at a reasonably fast pace, Red trying to convince Britt it’s not safe at college, but he can’t tell her why! Well not until her life is on jeopardy, then all bets are off! He needs her to trust him….
There is a spark between the two main characters, and it is a slow spark. But once it’s lit, then Red sees Britt as his own, his to protect, even if she is a little stubborn at first.
A few twists and turns will keep you glued to the pages until the end.
A slow burn romance with a touch of paranormal. (It does remind me a little of Christine Feehan’s Ghost Walker series)
This book started out as a very hard to read book because of the fashion angle and it there want anything to draw me in. I am not interested in fashion, and when the author kept listing who was wearing what I honestly just skimmed through those sections. They say slow and steady win the race, but for this book I do not agree. Yes, there were some action scenes thrown in here and there, but for me the book didn’t get better until the last 20% or so. Around that point, the fashion show had finally arrived and as the reader I was waiting with baited breath so to speak to see if anything major would happen. Finally, there was a really good in depth action scene that ended the book with a cliffhanger!!! A little foreshadowing and a cliffhanger means I am now looking forward to the next book in the series. Also, I think it is important to note that I have not read Book 1 or 2 in this series which might explain why the beginning was my least favorite part of the book!!!.

This is the third book I have read and loved in this series. The hero, Alfred 'Red' Newman has a particularly violent form of the Morpheus (body enhancing/body damaging) Virus. He reminds me of the original HULK, the Bill Bixby one. Not the computer-generated giant green guys, but a believable muscled-up guy. Al is supposed to guard the sister of his teammate's wife (book 1) and in order to do it, this big guy (not as small as Bill Bixby) has to pretend to be a design student at SCAD in Atlanta. I'm from Atlanta so I loved that part.
The author shows the Alpha guy trying to disguise himself while protecting Brit (the kick-ass, independent heroine who refuses to be kept in a 'safe place.') and keeping Morpheus contained, which is no easy feat.
The author's descriptions, as always are simply amazing. I loved the book and can't wait for the next one.
I've not read any books from this author before but boy am I going to grab some more of her stories. I couldn't put the book down until the last page. It starts out talking about fashion and what everyone was going to wear but then the story picks up as it gets closer to the fashion show. The characters have great chemistry, their's danger, and suspense. The story features Red and Britt. Red is an ex-special force soldier who's always completed his assignments until he's assigned Britt to protect. They are explosive together. I absolutely loved the book. I highly recommend it.

When you have a man with lots of power who will do anything to take down a family so he can stay in power and you have to protect a woman who has no clue that her life is in danger we get an intense read that you can not put down,
Britt is ready to graduate and has a fashion show coming up that could make or break her. We have Al aka Red who is sent to protect her and oh boy is she a handful for him. Having a military virus in you that enhances some abilities. Red is all about making sure Britt lives and claims her.
So this was my first read of the series. I didn’t feel lost or overwhelmed with characters and plot lines because Jillian made it easy to pick up book 3 and not feel like I missed anything. I was definitely on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next throughout the entire book. Britt and Al “Red” have some amazing chemistry and I was totally there for it. I definitely recommend this steamy suspense love/hate story! I can’t wait to start back at book 1!
This third book has Red trying his best to protect Britt. Does anything go according to plan??? There was abit of whiplash from Britt & frustrated me to no ends. Despite her reasons, she comes across as childish. Red was a character I enjoyed & felt his hurt. Things get exciting right towards the end.

A good book with a wonderful storyline. There is action and danger, but also attraction and chemistry, which keeps you glued to your book. The characters and their personalities with the story made you unable to put the book down. I recommend this book, and can't wait to read more from this author.

I received a copy of this book via Evernight and am voluntarily leaving a review. The third book in the Project Morpheus series. Ex-Special Forces soldier, Alfred “Red” Newman and fashion student, Britt McNeill's suspense filled story kept me turning pages. A well written story with a very good storyline that held my interest until the end. The story is well worth reading.
This is a series that keeps you hooked from the beginning, and this story is no exception! It can be read as a standalone, but it is much more enjoyable to read from the first book, which is what I recommend! The plot is fantastic and I really like Red's role and that Britt doesn't make it easy for him!.

A different genre for me. Well written, intriguing characters. Britt wants to make it as a fashion designer. There’s danger, so Red gets to watch over her. Who knows what will happen, perhaps a romance. Fast paced, not to be missed.
