O. M. G. Hands down one of my favorite books! She can have all of the stars! Is this really a debut?! My jaw is on the floor and I am REELING!!

I just finished and it hurts like hell. I need the next book like I need oxygen! I’m typing this up through tears right now after waking up at 3am to finish this because I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it, even in sleep.

This book had some of the best banter I’ve ever read. I was chuckling and it was such a needed reprieve from the dark atmosphere of everything else going on.

Emer was so strong and so completely devoted to saving her father’s life no matter the risks. She went through EVERYTHING and it was awful, but she never stopped fighting and I love that in an FMC. Gah, and Calder… handsome, broody, pirate-daddy, with Raven magic and an infallible thirst for revenge. I don’t know if I can think of a sexier MMC. The way he would rip someone apart for putting their hands on “his girl” but always asking for her consent first. This guy will burn the world down to protect her.

The slow burn romance here was EVERYTHING! That tension could set your soul on fire. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a more romantic first kiss scene in my entire life. 🥹 Ahhhh, and then Keane, when he shows up. Talk about derailing everything you thought you knew. He was perfection and so angsty! I still don’t know what to think of his devotion to Emer, but I love him and I’d forgive him for anything.

I’m gonna stop here and process a little more. That ENDING! 😭

This book has everything a fantasy novel should. It is one of the best I've read in 2024.

The world building is lush enough to be compelling but not overbearing. The prose is gorgeous and the plot compelling. Also, the friendships developed and the protagonists featured throughout the text are lovely.

Everyone is morally grey with strengths and weaknesses that make them robust. Emer is lovable but flawed enough to be believable. Calder is very reminiscent of Rhys (from ACOTAR) but unique and Banner and Keane added the dramatic flair I didn't know I needed.

For anyone considering if this is for them, it can be best understood as somewhere between ACOTAR (the first book) and An Enchantment of Ravens with an entirely unique feel.

Importantly, if you are looking for spice or extreme gore, this is not for you. This story is both gentle and brutal in its unravelling and is best suited to an audience approaching it from the understanding that it is primarily character driven.

Finally, I loved this book and I hope everyone considering it will love it as much as I did.

I loved this book.

The Quiet Beyond the Well is CW Wren's debut fantasy novel that takes place in an entirely unique world with a Celtic-inspired gothic atmosphere and a quest-driven plot.

I'll preface this review by saying that fantasy can be a hit or miss for me and I definitely prefer dark fantasy. This was a lighter read than I expected and it took me some time to really sink into the story. Though there is definitely implied danger and the perfect setup for an "enemies-to-lovers" type of situation, I didn't feel much true animosity between the love interests beyond the very first time they meet. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a little more angst between them! Having said that, I loved Calder and Emer as characters, both individually and together.

I am not very familiar with Celtic folklore, but the lore woven into this story, the setting and the types of creatures in this world felt incredibly unique and refreshing. I especially loved the Sea Ravens and Alabaster!

Wren's prose is lyrical and purposeful, polished and symbolic. I appreciated all the metaphors and references to water, creating an ominous and melancholic tone. I love that the female protagonist, Emer, is strong and brave, but also anxious and fearful. The way her struggle with anxiety is depicted is so relatable and she carries a quiet type of resilience and power that is also inspiring.

The last 20% and the conclusion / cliffhanger really captivated me. It left me with questions I really want answers to! I'm definitely eager to read the next book and so curious where things are heading.

I am incredibly grateful to the author for providing an early copy for review.

I am OBSESSED with this book. It's never going to leave my brain. CW is a phenomenal writer & her words are so beautiful and poetic. I love Emer and Calder. And I loved Keane when he arrived. The banter between our stabby fmc and sea raven mmc was already perfect, but then when you add side characters like Banner and Lina and I knew it was a world I'd never forget. And while I'm here for Calder, I love Keane so deeply. Their hatred and "common interest" keeping them connected brought so much humor to such a short time. The more I laughed, the more unease I felt. I knew something crazy was going to happen, but I never would've predicted the ending. I felt like every single part of the book had a purpose while I was reading, and it was so great seeing all of those things tie into each other by the end. I recently finished reading this, and I am unwell. I need book 2 right now. I look forward to all that comes from/for CW Wren in the future.

What a fantastic debut novel! This story had it all and in spades!

Plot: 4.5 📍
Spice: 0.5 ❤️‍🔥
Overall: 4.5 ⭐
Laughter: 4 😂

Monsters, battles, he saves her. She saves him. She saves them. They save her. Runes. Magic. Inner discovery. Just superb!

I desperately want to give this a full 5 stars, but the we're a few places the story felt hung up. A little drug out. Not enough to lose interest, but enough to start skimming. But those places weren't so often as to fully distance the reader.

Emer's growth over the course of this story was just divine! We start with a shipwreck and the story doesn't really seem to every lose action! Her tenacity is, literally, the stuff of legends.

Calder is this amazing amalgam of both OTT possessive alpha-male with "touch her and die" vibes BUT 100% about consent and even better "touch her, she'll stab you herself while I'll sit back and laugh."

Our Fae side character, side kick, MMC-worthy male as well, is just chef's kiss perfection. A little mad, a little flippant, a lot of heart, and scary good at his role...

And the banter! 😂 Oh between three of them at any given moment! Love it. Just loved it!

I am SO excited to watch CW Wren's writing just get better and better, for the next book in her series and honored she trusted me with her very first official ARC.

Thank you! I cannot wait to watch this book and your career take off. To do anything less than that, would be an 'unkindess'. 🐦‍⬛

The Quiet Beyond the Well by C.W. Wren

♤ ARC Review ♤

"The gravestones that came into view were the proof. Her eyes darted across the markers that emerged from the ground like mournful wildflowers."

This book is a dark fantasy, slow burn, tension and playful banter, and an adventure to the Well. I thoroughly enjoyed the elegant writing of Wren.

I think my favorite parts were with Keane - he was such a shit disturber and added so much more drama to the traveling duo. I feel that with that cliffhanger, there is so much more to come and I can't wait.

“The sea is the other way, Merrow. Or did you already miss me?”

Emer is on the search of the Well to help save her father's life. She encounters many setbacks as a runaway and captive. The story unravels many secrets and twists. It's beautiful to see Emer overcome obstacles and become stronger along the adventure as she is dealing with her insecurities and anxieties.

"With each step, a piece of armor she had donned to survive the journey was removed—heavy things that no longer served her."

Calder our knight - tall, dark-haired, and brooding - who finds Emer on the shores of his Isle. Taking her as his captive. Calder is more than meets the eye. A Sea Raven who has many secrets that are slowly revealed as he spreads his wings.

“I can’t decide which is more delicious. The look on your face or the sound of my name on your lips.”

I am ready for book two, please.

✨ARC Review✨

Happy release day to CW Wren and her debut, The Quiet Beyond the Well! I have been following CW Wren since she started teasing this story, and I was so excited to read it when she finally opened up ARC applications. This book did NOT disappoint. It was atmospheric, lush, and written with hauntingly beautiful prose that kept me on my toes and unable to put it down.

I loved Emer, our FMC, and her grit and determination - persevering even when she doubted herself. She has a quiet kind of strength that I really admired. Calder is dark and intriguing, with little hints of his true personally peeking out from the mask he has carefully constructed. Keane is a mysterious trickster we meet along the way who is so multifaceted, and also brings an amazing sense of humour to the book.

I absolutely could not choose just one quote - I had SO MANY highlights. I still cannot get over how poetic and thoughtful the writing is in this book (it reminded me a bit of Carissa Broadbent’s writing). The ending also left me screaming for more, as it did all the other ARC readers in our group chat. This was a rare occasion I finished a book and just wanted to start it all over again immediately.

Sending my warmest congratulations to CW Wren for this fantastic debut novel. Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive an advanced copy, these thoughts and review are my own 🤍

This book can best be described as a heart racing fever dream. The way the author moves you through each chapter is cinematic, with beautiful imagery that plays scenes in your head that you wont forget. As a Gothic Fantasy, it has tones of dark magic, grave danger, and deep legends. I have a feeling we have only scratched the surface on the secrets in this world. But even more than that, the messages that so beautifully embed themselves in your heart. are about finding love and acceptance in unexpected places, and the different types of love that people eperience and carry with them, for better or worse.

It is a tale that will leave you broken and breathless, turning you into a spaghetti ball of emotons.

The story follows a girl names Emer who is on a mission to a magical place in hopes of curing her father. However she ends up not where she epected to be, and though not what she envisioned for her quest, winds up with some very unlikely companions. A sort of knight who is more than he seems, and a far who plays by his own rules. Watching the bond between Emer and her companions may be the most hear aching part of the tale, as the dynamics between them shift and change, bend and bend some more. From being at eachothers throats to being in desperate need of eachother, the relationships built in this tale will leave you kicking, laughing, throwing your hands in the air, and possibly sobbing. All of this happening when Emer is deperate to save her father, in a land where anything can be a monster.

This book has me hooked from the beginning and didn't let go, and I'm left impatiently waiting for the next in the series. It had me feeling all the feelings, grinning like a fool as some scenes unfold, nervously reading through action scenes, and feeling the grief of the characters as their stories unfold. The writing is immaculate with beautiful world building, character development, fun side characters, and plot twists that leave you in a bit (or maybe more than a bit) in shock. A fantastic debut novel! I think I've found a new favorite author!

4.5 ⭐️

This book has me in a chokehold. I fell in love with everything: the characters, the plot, the pacing, the banter, and the romance. The writing is exceptional, and the FMC, Emer, strikes the perfect balance of being fierce and sassy, yet grounded and lovable. She's a well-rounded character with flaws and real growth throughout the story, rather than being unrealistically perfect.

The MMC, Calder, is a solid 10/10. Their banter is top-tier, and their chemistry is electrifying. While the book features some familiar tropes, they feel organic and fresh.

Keane is hilarious and adds a lot of charm to the story. There was a moment where I feared it would turn into a cliché love triangle—something that would’ve really annoyed me—but thankfully, it didn’t. Instead, we get our beloved trio that works beautifully together.

The enemies-to-lovers dynamic could have had a bit more 'enemy', and there were a few plot holes and lingering questions. Some of the side characters lacked a bit of depth and backstory.

But honestly, these small issues faded as the story drew me in. By the end, I was completely invested in the characters, and the suspense had me on the edge of my seat. Now, I'm left wondering how I’ll survive the wait for the second book!

This book blessed me.

From the first line to the end it had me completely enveloped in this beautiful, tragic, real, magical, hilarious at times, brutal most of the time, visceral universe that I just do not want to leave (I have re-read my ARC 3 times so far, I am a slow reader). The story is unique and the voice throughout is so strong that the after-effect makes it feel more like you just read a history instead of the Gothic fantasy epic that it is.

The detail and care taken to show the darker elements of grief and anxiety throughout the tale are heartbreaking and familiar. The humorous and lighter moments always come at the perfect moment to give my heart the rest it needs. The pacing and flow of the story is almost musical in not only its prose but also in how the author perfectly balances out this tale fraught with blood and woe.

For my personal absolute favorite thing about this story would have to be the complex but always understandable personalities of the characters. It leaves me speechless how the author has made me absolutely fall in love with a character who is in only a handful of scenes but I am surely smitten! My only notes to the author would be: More books! AND MORE BANNER!!!

AS a side note (and a personal peeve of mine), the mastery with which the author handled the fight sequences/scenes is beyond comprehension. The way that you (Wren, I am addressing you directly now and I hope you find this) managed to perfectly capture the motion, rhythm and passion surrounding the movements in these fights leaves me speechless. Bravo. I have had to remind myself to start breathing again more times throughout your book than I care to admit. BRAVO AGAIN!!!!

(END NOTE AND LITTLE SPOILER)

If you have any hesitation whatsoever about diving into this beautiful, magical, enrapturing, gory, warm ocean of a story, please allow me to throw you overboard.

There is a little Emer in all of us – the question is just when and how often. She exudes completely candid vulnerability as she tells her story. That feeling of near crippling fear and anxiety that grips your chest through the day when you’re thinking about everything from imagining completely irrational disasters to how am I going to [insert here]. What you will love about Emer is the answer is so simple and beautiful … family. In her search for her father’s salvation you go on an adventure with Emer (and her family through a series of touching/hilarious flashbacks) while she picks up a few strays along the way. Calder and Keane complete this talented trio of misfits in a series of hilarious and sometimes harrowing mishaps in their search to get Emer to Isle Basalt.

SPOILERS!!!!
Isle Basalt and the Well were just the beginning of Emer’s story. Upon discovering its location and secrets she unravels a completely new story of lies, deceit, secret loyalties, magic and intrigue. You will be left with few or no fingernails left and a terrible terrible book hangover that will leave you begging for more.

Thank you to the author for the eARC.

This book…was really, really good.

Well-fleshed world building that doesn’t overwhelm you, with an Irish folklore feel, you feel immersed from page one. The prose flows from the page so lyrically, it’s almost like I’m hearing a verbal tale, passed down through generations.

But what really shines is the characters. Everyone is just a little bit grey but also protective, loyal, and at times—adoring. You really feel the full range of emotions while reading; from the levity of the witty banter, the deep emotions each character hides within them, the helpless rage from being unable to change fate, and the anxious thrill of feeling on the edge of your seat.

I’m truly in love with this book and I’m now struggling surviving after that cliffhanger ending. Bravo to CW Wren on a wonderful debut.

The perfect thing to pull me back into fantasy.
It has the dark, broody MMC, a claw-your-eyes out FMC, sarcastic and witty banter, side characters that you can’t help but love, and a journey full of action, betrayal and new formed bonds.

From the moment Emer washed up on the Isle of Basalt I was hooked, locked in, attention piqued.

“Do you know how I know you are lying, 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸?” he exaggerated the last word in a teasing and honeyed voice.“Your neck,” he whispered against the shell of her ear, prompting her to take a hurried step forward. “More specifically, the pulse of your heart, which I can see in your neck.”

What you’ll find:
✨Runes and rituals
✨Unlikely allies
✨Mythical creatures
✨One bed
✨Found family
✨Betrayal
✨Moments that make you 🤭🫠

DNF'D. Read almost half of it. And completed it by skipping through passages.
Summary: A stupid book where everything is about saving a stupid girl. The story is so basic. The author just spews nonsense and does not make any sense about the story and the world. Utter nonsense. It just keeps you guessing that something will happen but nothing happens.
Details:
●The writing style was confusing. I admit it was not boring like other books but in order to make it interesting the author just made it weird. Like the sentence "He opened his eyes after a long blink". It is so weird. Instead it should be like this " He closed his eyes in frustration" because that's what the character did.
●Too dramatic. A woman that will ruin me. The boasting. The stupid fighting. I am deadly blah blah. These things should not be said rather all this should be shown by the actions of a character. A deadly man never tells you he is deadly he just shows you and his presence and actions are enough to tell you. A fantasy book for adults should not have childish statements.
●A wisp of a girl is enough to annoy a trained, deadly, fascinating knight to such level that he is fighting to quell his frustration. Booho
●God the whole fuss and drama. All the big words and the author didn't even tell us the whole story. I mean it is just plain stupid to fight and continuously run. You can expect that from a normal person but not someone who says she is smart and knows how to fight blah blah. I am turning into a hater.
●If the person is not angry then the word she/he barked should not be used.
●At first it seems that the writing style is weird but as the book progresses it becomes clear that it is outright bad. The author just wrote pretty bullshit and poetry but these things did not compensate for the utter lack of details. Consider that the girl ran away and she just thinks and thinks, there is no sense of direction and no strategy in her mind and it feels like she is a stupid girl and then suddenly there is a cottage and we don't get any description of how she gets there but she starts describing the interior without mentioning once that she even entered the cottage.
The book is filled with things like this. The girl's mind can't seem to shut up about stupid things but when it is time to think about important things she just screams and spews bullshit about how everything is bad and how she is a victim blah blah.
●It turned into a love triangle like this book needed anything else to make it so bad. And then she died.

This is by far my favorite read of the year so far and definitely the most highlighted book on my Kindle maybe…ever.

This book is a work of art. It is evocative, emotional, witty, and so incredibly magical. I felt attached to the story from page one, and I fell so in love with the characters, their bonds, and this world. The magic and lore felt so unique and interesting, definitely a breath of fresh air from your average fantasy world magic. The world-building is so unreal, it has such a lush and spellbinding atmosphere and the more I read the more at home I felt while also feeling like I was on the best adventure of my life.

Emer is an amazingly relatable main character, and I truly don’t think I will ever recover from my crush on Calder. Their relationship is all the morally grey banter and tension I’ll ever need, and the development of their trust and connection feels so special and meaningful. The journey Emer goes on for her family, and the family she finds along the way, were enough to bring me to actual tears. Between the heartwrenchingly beautiful writing and the explosive devastation that was the cliffhanger ending, my heart is a puddle after this one and I will not be recovering anytime soon. Like maybe not until I get book 2.

Emer embarks on a quest to find the Well of Healing after her father suddenly falls ill with a mysterious sickness. However, her journey takes a perilous turn when she falls into the sea and is washed ashore, only to find herself captured by a Knight. With time running out to save her father, Emer faces an even greater challenge: the people of this Isle are enemies of her own. How will she find the cure now?

My brain was literally malfunctioning after finishing this book—I couldn’t even think of what to write in the review. I really loved the dedication. Right from the first chapter, I knew I was going to love this book. The world-building was easy to understand, and Wren did such a great job that I wouldn’t have guessed it was her debut if I hadn’t already known. I loved all the gothic elements and Celtic vibes in the book, as well as the banter between Emer and Calder. I think I’ve just found my new favorite book boyfriend. The cliffhanger at the end and what the Elder said in the epilogue left me reeling. As much as I love Keane, I don’t want him to be the mmc. No amount of praise can fully describe how good this book is—it’s definitely one of my best reads of the year.

Quote I loved,
"To women who look like flowers but draw blood like daggers."

The little snippets given to promote this book were so eye-catching, I didn’t hesitate to apply for an ARC. A big thank you to the lovely CW Wren!

The writing was beautiful & depicted such vivid imagery, but it was also easily digestible. It felt very fresh & unique. I don’t usually read third person omniscient very often, but Wren crushed it! The dialogue felt natural & witty. It was such a pleasant surprise to discover this wouldn’t be a standalone, which was just the type of comforting news I needed after that ending.

This is categorized as a new adult dark, gothic fantasy. For me personally, this wasn’t particularly dark, but that’s not to say it isn’t headed in that direction.

I was living for the gothic tones & discovering more about these characters on their journey to the well. Honestly, I really liked a good number of these characters! I can’t wait for more of this captivating tale.

Out Now!

RATING - ✩✩✩✩
SPICE - none, but it had great banter & tension

First, thank you to Wren for sending me an ARC copy and allowing me the opportunity to read her debut novel. I was truly blessed to read this story and immerse myself in this world.

The Quiet Beyond the Well is a dark fantasy that is BEAUTIFULLY written, extensively and lovingly researched to include Celtic myths and lore, and although it has no spice the banter and relationships between our main characters had me absolutely screaming, crying, swooning, and harassing Wren about my love for so many elements of the story from start to finish.

This story has you hooked from the very beginning, when Emer's journey to save her father is derailed and she washes ashore of Isle Basalt and meets her captor, the enigmatic Calder. Emer's only goal is to escape the monsters of Isle Basalt and reach the well to help her family.

Emer's relationship with every character she encounters is truly the highlight of the story. She is courageous, constantly overcomes her anxieties and fears along the way, and draws everyone she meets into her orbit. The banter between Emer and Calder is hilarious and swoon-worthy, I truly don't think I've ever highlighted a book as much as I have this one. Then enters our other characters, Banner, Keane, and Lina who make Emer's journey so much more interesting, fun, and dramatic (I'm looking at you Keane). While Emer and Calder's relationship is fraught with snarky comments, attempts to escape, constant subtle and not so subtle threats, and two souls working through their grief and sadness together- her friendship and connection with Keane is sweet and funny and brought the perfect amount of lightheartedness in the midst of the darkness. And Keane and Calder's reluctant, budding bromance in the face of their mutual goal is equally as hilarious

The ending certainly snuck up on me and had me yelling "HOW DARE YOU" as my heart broke for these characters and has me itching for book 2 and more of this beautifully built world.

0🌶️ but Tension and steam off the charts

First I would like to thank the author for this opportunity, and as always all thoughts and opinions are my own and this review is completely voluntary and honest 🤍

I’ve been sitting on the review for a couple days. I still don’t know how to put my thoughts into coherent sentences lol. The first thing I want to mention though is about the POV. It’s third person omniscient. I don’t think I’ve personally read this third person pov before because it’s not as common and can be difficult to nail. So if you’re going into this book hesitant because of that… DON’T BE! Wren has done an amazing job to not make it confusing. I found it fairly easy to adjust to it and follow the characters. So please don’t let it scare you!

To anyone who knows me and/or follows me, you definitely know I have a specific genre and tropes I tend to always reach for. I know for some readers they’re tired of the same thing and well I’m pretty basic lol so it doesn’t bother me, but The Quiet Beyond the Well is going to scratch that itch for something ✨Different✨. At its core, it’s about a young woman who wants to save her father. Now that doesn’t mean we don’t get a delicious MMC with a mouth on him.. because..👀 we do 😏. This is only the beginning!

Our FMC, Emer, washes ashore after a shipwreck. She’s immediately discovered by Calder, a Sea Raven (think Viking pirate if you will). Almost right away you just *know* the banter is going to be good between these two. One thing about this story is there is A LOT of mystery. Nothing is really just told to the reader (or the characters really) you discover as they do, which makes you just want to keep reading. There’s a lot of mythology based in Celtic mythology as well as some mythology that’s completely her own (Wren). We don’t even meet the 3rd main character (Keane) until waaaay later into the book and there’s something just wholesome about his and Emer’s relationship, while Keane and Calder is mutual dislike for each other and then Emer and Calder have this tension that’s just waiting to boil over.

This is one review I really can’t go super in depth because I think experiencing the story as it unfolds is super important and satisfying. I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book so…Wren..chop chop 😂🫶🏼

I had the pleasure of alpha reading and then rereading as an arc, and I cannot fully express what a beautifully written book this is. The writing is like poetry bringing to life characters, a quest, adventure, and twists that leaves you breathless.

The world building and character introductions are done in a way that unfolds around you without feeling overwhelmed. It has touches of folklore and Irish roots which adds nice touches to the story. I was hooked from page one, and 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 for the interactions between our FMC Emer and MMC Calder. Then enters a whimsical fae who adds humor and wit to their quest, with his own mysterious plot. The banter and chemistry between all characters (friends, family, love interests) keeps you invested and giggling.

I found the writing so creative in how to explain complex emotions, loss, humor and just human connections. I can’t wait for book two…Congratulations on your debut!

Alright, here’s the thing.

This book consumed me.

CW Wren’s debut, The Quiet Beyond the Well, is SO GOOD. The characters, the found family, the Celtic folktale vibes that were so well captured.

Something I loved about this one was how more than one type of love is depicted, and how they’re shown to all be important. Familial, romantic, platonic. They’re all different, but they’re no less important than the rest. The bonds formed are a delight to read ❤️

And the ENDING. I can’t say more about it without spoiling so you’ll just have to see what I mean for yourselves 👀

I’m going to be thinking about this one for a WHILE not least of all because I NEED ANSWERS.

If you’re looking for a book to add to your fall reading list, do yourself a favour and read this one!

“𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙙, 𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩.”

I feel so honored to have read an arc of my friend’s beautiful book. I already can’t wait to reread. This story made me want to go into the woods and have an adventure and if I happened to come upon someone named Calder I would not be mad one bit.

If you’re a fan of fantasy and morally grey characters this one is for you. It’s character driven and beautifully written with a magical atmosphere that holds your attention throughout everything these characters go through. Emer is our relatable fmc who is on a journey to the Isle of Basalt to find a cure for her father’s illness. On the way she meets Calder a Sea Raven along with Keane a fae with a secret. Calder and Keane’s hatred for one another balances out the mood giving humor on an otherwise rough path of facing fears, betrayal and an ending that you don’t see coming!

It has zero spice but damn the tension and banter was everything and I couldn’t get enough!

This book is the first in this fantasy series. It follows Emer and Calder as the journey through the Isle of Basalt to reach the Well.

Okay, that's as calm as I can write to summarize this book. Now prepare for my emotional love song to this story.

From the first page, I was sucked in. I could feel Emer's struggles, fear, pain, and desperation to achieve her goals through any means necessary. I could feel Calder's struggles and desire to control every situation due to previous trauma. The wit, the banter, the longing, the pain. So. Well. Written.

I read it so fast that there were parts I had to go back and re read because I missed something important, which was my fault, not the book's or the author's. I just couldn't get enough. I wanted to fall into the pages and be in their world on their journey. Take you're time when reading this book, if you can. Or just read it a second time like I plan to do.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I haven’t read a book in a while that stirred my emotions so thoroughly like this one did! The writing was spectacular! The character depth was phenomenal! This book has lush world building with cozy but dark Celtic vibes that was easy to grasp. The writing was so poetic, I was highlighting EVERYTHING! The tension and banter between characters had me giddy and kicking my feet ☺️ This book ends on such a heart wrenching cliffhanger, I cannot wait for book two!

I seriously can’t stop raving and obsessing over it. The world-building, the characters, the storytelling, the feelings they all evoke, I just WANNA SCREECH IN PTERODACTYL FOREVER.

Emer and Calder, our MCs, are just….magical, and endearing, and frustrating, and so utterly drool-worthy.
Their kind of fatal flirting will be my undoing. I NEED MOOOAAAAARR!!!!

I can see so much of myself in Emer. The need to focus her tempest of unspent energy and anxiety, the many masks we don to hide what we truly feel. What we truly are. I love her so violently, so much more than worlds can describe. Thank you Wren, for showing me I can love me too.

And CALDER! Uuugh MAH MAN.
Why does his flirting and the way he cares for Emer make my heart ache for something that might not ever exist? And how the hell did he launch himself to the forefront of my dream man already?? And why can’t real life men be like HIM?? I will be posting more about him as more readers join the Calder ship, don’t worry 😂.

Idk how you did it, Wren. You made me yearn for a place I’ve never been, ache for people I’ll never meet in physical form, and fall in love with myself, Emer, and a mind made man all at the same time. You’re so brilliant, it hurts. Thank you for including me in your writing journey. This is a ride and a story I will value long after the oceans die and the stars become dust.

But that ending. Madame. I beg your finest pardon. I will be haunting and darkening your metaphorical doorstep until we have book 2 in our clutches 😈.

IN CONCLUSION! If you love a world of mythical creatures and magic, if you love when you can see a bit of yourself reflected back in a character, if you love when the MC’s make you “kick your feet in the air” kind of giddy, if you love when you’re so immersed in the story it feels like you’re living it, The Quiet Beyond the Well is for you 💜.
