Witch

"The theme behind WITCH is righteous vengeance, with a surprisingly sound line of feminism. Patterson doesn’t fall into pornographic levels of violence to get his point across, using just enough to be realistic and propel his characters to the edge of their strength. The true villains of Witch are more archetypes than individuals - men who stand in for misogyny through the ages, and in this novella, the technique works. ... Patterson’s quiet method works well with his characters and subject matter. ... I like the ambiguity he allows in the end, and I expect Patterson will prove one to look out for in the future." - K.E. Bergdoll, THE CROW'S CAW

"WITCH is a frightening and at times gut wrenching tale that seamlessly jumps between 16th century Scotland and the present as the story of Margaret, accused of witchcraft slowly unfolds." - LITERARY MAYHEM

"A suspenseful tale of both ancient and modern horror, WITCH is a breath of fresh air in this time of zombie trending and vampire romance. Patterson returns to the roots of the genre, generating a natural sense of foreboding that builds and builds, while at the same time maintaining a stylized tone that is both bleak and beautiful at once - comparable to that of Clive Barker." - HORRORNEWS.NET

"Many writers today have diluted their stories with predictable situations and resolutions, [but] Patterson's work stands apart. He is able to deliver a psychological read that has easy-to-follow dialogue. He is able to captivate us through a character who develops with time, and this offers a realistic protagonist, other than just skin-deep superficial vampire romances, overrated zombies, and passionate werewolves." - Jorge Baldomero Valdes Jr., THE HORROR ZINE

Good goods come in small parcels comes to mind while reading Lorne Patterson's first Novel Witch.

The death of a paedophile and an investigation led by detective Jamie McFadden takes us to Scotland and a secluded clinic called Haven for abused women. Haven is a home to more than abused woman as it has a deep dark history which unfolds as the story is told.

Started this book at night but realised very quickly why I should read in the daylight as is quite dark and freaky. This is not my normal reading genre but enjoyed the read and look forward to this author's next novel.
