Take Away is a good book. There is a lot into it and it is well made. There are parts in the book where it got me wondering if something is going to happen or not. The book is mostly about two players who give it their all, but the head coach wants everything to be perfect. The head coach just cares about winning, so he will punish the players if they mess up in the game.
Plot
The book is about two players: Orlando and Devon. Orlando is one of the best football players that Trojan has. Orlando faces many problems especially with the head coach. Orlando’s problem with Coach turn really bad when he quits the team and joins Trojan’s rival. Devon has the same problems with the coach. Devon thinks about quitting but doesn’t.
Characterization
Orlando is one of the best players that Trojans has ever had. Orlando gives all he has, but the coaches don’t care. All the coaches care about is winning state. Orlando quits the team, since he doesn't like how he is being treated. Orlando joins Trojans rivals. In the beginning, his new teammates treat him well. Later in the book, they do something bad that makes Orlando join the Trojans again.
Coach Z starts out as a coach who only cares about winning and nothing else. Coach wants everything to be perfect. If there is a screw up, he would punish the players. When he loses his best player, he punishes everyone else for it. Coach Z changes when his most valuable player returns and than Coach Z makes football more about the team winning than just himself.
Setting
The book takes place at Trojan Highschool. The book goes on the at the football field. It is really important the book took place there because that is how the characters learn from their mistakes like Coach Z and Orlando. For Coach weren't on the field he would never figured out what is better for the team.
Theme
The main theme in Take Away is for the players and Coach to figure out what they really want for the Trojan football team. Coach's main purpose is that he will do anything in his power to win and be state champs. This teaches readers that if they care more about themselves, they will end up losing friends around them. Orlando wants to get notice and for the coaches to appreciate his skills. For Orlando, it is important for him to continue to give it his all but also let other people have fame. Overall, the most important part of this book is that it helps readers understand that they should enjoy everyone and respect people.
Recommendation
I would recommend this book to readers who want to read something fast. The book is really good for readers who like the sport of football. It is important that the readers have some knowledge of football because there are parts when it talks about plays. The book is meant for high schoolers since it is set in a high school.
I really liked the book it was cool and interesting. Also it was keeping me in by using cliffhangers to make me wonder what was going to happen next. also its about my favorite sport and its short thats why I read it. also it was kind of dramatic. I like the part where Orlando's cars gets vandalized apparently by his own team but its was actually the team he transferred from.

I though The Take Away was a very good book. The story had a lot of ups and downs and lots of many things that made the book interesting.I was on the edge of my seat throughout the book when they were in big game situations. This book is very student friendly and very interesting so i would recommend it to anyone especially people who like sports.
Breakaway from the TV and head to the stores now, while you can. The book Take Away is a great. It is fiction but it has so many life lessons, like how you shouldn’t treat someone when they make an important decision in their or with anything that they may do.
Everything was going well until that day in the library, it was over, and Orlando had made a decision that would affect his life from now until he does different. The people of Troy were devastated by this and the town of Troy bleeds football so that made it even harder to deal with. This would put a hurt not only on the team but the town and anyone who loved them some Troy football. Along with Orlando’s decision that he had made, it had started a conflict with his teammates, his town, and the Trojans rivals, Athens high school football team.
Throughout reading this book its hard not the think of why do they treat him the way that they do. Would they want to be treated like that? If they had made an important decision like Orlando had done they probably would want to be treated with respect and Orlando gets none of that.
Take Away is full of nerve wrecking circumstances that will put you on the edge. It’s exciting, thrilling, and packed with action and betrayal from others.
The book is a part of a series that contains six books. These books that are in this series are geared more towards sports lovers, such as football in this instance. Just because this is more for sports people, it has an awesome meaning to it so I think that it would be good for anyone to read.
You know that a book is good when anyone will enjoy reading it when they aren’t even big sports fans. So breakthrough them doors at the store and go buy the book today.
This is a great book for sports fans and reluctant readers. It's a short, basic story about the intricacies of young friendships and the need for teamwork. It's an easy read with an intriguing cliffhanger. I really wanted there to be a sequel!
