Many great fictions exhibit a common thing-a revelation of human virtues and vices. Each book might deals with a particular virtue or vice and shall web a tale around it. But here all the basic virtues and vices are compressed and written in an epigrammatic style.A man might go through different phases in his life including the happy, sad and peaceful state. These might get manifested in different microforms. Here the author particularly uses a totally different narrative technique which is combining animal fables and modern life. This amazed me the most-the dextrity and freshness in his narration.
The message that it holds derives from an enlightenment and profound wisdom.Every short tale follows a fixed pattern and is very well curated. It begins with an animal or insect which encounters a monk to seek an answer to which the monk shares the story of a modern day man. Each modern life has its own great trials and tribulations which must be sorted out or else shall devour them.Every story has clarity and precision and has suceeded in conveying the intended message to the readers. There is then left no questions unaddressed. The reader gets entirely satisfied and the gratification they receives is something similar to divinity.Virtues like forgiveness and empathy get reinstilled in people's mind as they are associated with modern day life stories. Modern day man or women faces challenges of utmost inner struggle and choas. To find peace amidst this requires a great effort and coordination of mind.Striking and highly engrossing aphorisms gets summed up in the form beautiful tales that throbs with life. For me as a reader, this was a highly enriching experience and got fully immersed in it.Author deserves a special appreciation for crafting this magnificent work of art.

The author, Aditya S Hegde draws from his own journey of studying philosophy, and masterfully weaves together tales that encapsulate the wisdom and insights gleaned from their studies. What sets "Under The Tree" apart is its ability to transcend mere philosophical discourse and engage readers on a deeply personal level. Each story serves as a mirror, inviting introspection and contemplation, nudging readers towards a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

I would like to share a quote by the monk from my favourite chapter titled “Education” i.e.
“Dear Fishy, we conscious beings are curious in nature, and for this, we seek to end our curiosity. When curiosity dies, new realities are opened up where we have the liberation to create. Create a better future, to build upon those before us, and to those realities that make us.”

Whether you're a seasoned philosopher or someone embarking on a journey of self-discovery, "Under The Tree" offers a thought-provoking and enlightening read. It's a book that not only stimulates the mind but also nourishes the soul, leaving a lasting impression long after the final page is turned.

An exploratory book on life lessons based on Boddhisatva

This was another spiritual book I was curious about, as life has been a numbing roller coaster lately, numbing I guess, as this doesn't feel a challenge anymore, more like lets just focus on the next action as its not worth dwelling on why to make myself feel sad.

I felt a similar feeling as soon as I started reading this book. The author made the setting and surroundings way simple to just melt away, so that focus is on why this book is written.

Life is a roller coaster and we know it, but there is a reason aka lesson why it's happening to us. The author wants us to break it down and move forward.

This book is split into 11 chapters. Each one is a short story where lessons are broken down in a very lucid way so that we can interpret them as per our problem and take action.

This was another book which is not self-help but felt like it *wink*.

The beautiful artwork is a highlight, added a few pictures here for reference.

The only downside was, the design of placement of words was not up to mark, there were places where words and paragraphs were cut off, when the page did not have space for the whole paragraph. Maybe it was done for a reason, but it did put a damper in the reading experience.

All in All, I liked reading the book.

In our technologically advanced, fast-paced world, where chaos permeates daily life, it is not only a minor aspect but also mostly typical and expected. Amidst all of this, most people struggle with existential concerns about life, meaning, and purpose, as well as other thought-provoking subjects, because they cannot seem to discover the answers or the individuals who could provide them. Aditya S. Hegde's "Under the Tree" is a potent attempt in this direction because, in addition to attempting to address these and numerous other readers' questions, it also takes them on a journey that has its roots in existential reality and serves as a beacon for a future filled with spirituality and enlightenment.
"Under the Tree" is more than just the author's scribbled notes on ideas as they come to her. One of the most compelling aspects of the book is the way the ideas are presented in a narrative fashion, providing a framework for understanding them. In addition, the book's tone is consistently amiable and perceptive. The book offers readers a perspective to perceive life for its fullness and not simply around the difficulties that seem equivalent to life and death, as well as some powerful concepts that put them in a contemplative attitude.

A Tale of Philosophy Disguised as Short Stories

The beauty lies in the author's ability to unpack complex concepts. Unlike some philosophical works, this one is refreshingly approachable. Even those new to philosophy can grasp the ideas thanks to the relatable stories and engaging characters. It's like a spoonful of sugar that helps the philosophical medicine go down easy.

The short story format is a major strength. Each tale is a quick, thought-provoking read, perfect for busy schedules or those intimidated by lengthy philosophical tomes. Plus, the book is sprinkled with illustrations, adding another layer of engagement.

The pacing can be a little uneven at times. But these are minor quibbles compared to the book's overall impact. Anyone curious about life's big questions, regardless of their philosophical background. It's perfect for those seeking a thought-provoking read that's both entertaining and enlightening. So, if you're looking for a book that will make you ponder under a real tree (or anywhere else, for that matter), "Under a Tree" is a must-read.

'Under The Tree' by Aditya S Hegde was an exceptional representation of philosophical spiritual truth with a collection of short stories. The stories are all framed and inspired from Monks' teachings. The book explores human existence and beyond life.

As I read the first chapter- 'Nothing,' I knew I'll like this book. I loved all the chapters, but Nothing, Love, Forgiveness, and Everything were my favourite. I read the whole book in one sitting. It wasn't a big read, it only has 11 chapters, each conveying a deep message.

The author's representation of the stories was quite unique. Most of the philosophical books I read feel kind of off, but this book kept me hooked. I enjoyed reading it. Through the author's rich storytelling powers and the illustrations along with it, made it more interesting.
