Finley Bennett has relentlessly pursued a coveted promotion, employing every effort and working tirelessly to ensure it’s finally within her grasp. Yet, when it eludes her once again, she finally reaches her limit. Craving a respite from the incessant buzz of London and longing for a place where her phone signal fades into oblivion, she seeks an escape. She needs a break. Meanwhile, Sophie Cedars, weary from years of trying to break free from the monotonous cycle of life in Polcarne, Cornwall, feels equally trapped. Despite acquiring a second bachelor’s degree, her aspirations remain unfulfilled. She yearns for a taste of city lights and a place pulsating with opportunities and life. In a twist of fate, Finley and Sophie both sign up on a home-swap website and decide to exchange their lives for the duration of their holidays. But will this switch bring them the fulfilment they seek? Or will they discover that what they truly need is still 300 miles away?
What a fantastic book! This book literally had me laughing out loud so much. It's and all round brilliant book. The connection between Sophie and Finley, even being 300 miles apart, is so strong and real, and their chemistry is on point!
Sophie's sister Bex is hilarious and cracks you up with her wit, and Noah - Finley's best friend - is the absolute sweetheart, I love them both so much
The story is wonderfully written, and I honestly loved it, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I could not put it down!
Do yourselves a favour and go and get this book today. It's absolutely 9ne of the best books I've read this year. It's such a lovely storyline, and I loved all of the characters in it!
Seriously though, this book had me on the edge of my seat throughout. It had me laughing so hard, and it walked my heart up with the love and friendship throughout the beautiful story.
While this book is a sweet romance, that didn't stop it from keeping me in stitches for a good portion of it. The author's humor is so right up my alley. I really hope to see more published by her soon. All of the characters are super easy to grow fond of, with the only real exception being Amelia, who I wanted to throttle. Just strap in and enjoy the ride! Oh, and do beware the wildlife...
Ennis-Theobald has crafted an enthralling read; I do not typically read romantic novels but I couldn’t put this one down. I dare you to not fall in love with the characters, with London, and even a*se-end-of-nowhere Cornwall.
Authentic queer representation and humour really make this book. Highly recommend as your easy, enjoyable, and fun read for 2024.
Stacey weaves humor and heart (and a little heat) skillfully with characters you can't help but love. Sounds of the City is a fun rom com sure to have you smiling.
